Apply A Proper Date Format To An Entire Column?

Dec 3, 2008

I have a column (A) where there's a date in each cell. Currently it is formatted as category "text". All entries where initially entered as 'yymmdd', but using category "number". Beacause of that all zeros in the year disappeared, so now they are shown as "ymmdd".

Can someone show me/tell me how to convert all these dates from category "text", to category "date", using format "yymmdd"? I have tried again and again and again, but can't make it work. I have attached a sample of the sheet.

The ':' sign is not changing to bold. I want to bold ':' sign too.

How to amend the code for entire row 4?

Apply MONTH Formula To Entire Column

Jun 30, 2009

Hello, below is a sample of my excel sheet. The number of rows keep changing daily and the Month and year column has to be populated automatically as and when there is a new row inserted. I tried the formula =MONTH(A:A) and I paste it on the entire column. it works for rows with data but I also get 104,000 odd blank rows added to my excel because I pasted the formula on the entire column.

How To Apply IF Function For Four Or More Columns

Aug 4, 2014

How I can apply an IF function for four or more columns. for example: if the value is the same in four or more cells, IF function can type OK, if not something else.

what I am doing is this : =IF(H2=I2=J2=K2=L2,"OK","Not Equal") but I always receive the value"not equal" even when the all cells have the same value. The cells values are found using formula so I did copy and paste value but I received the same result.

Apply Macro To Protected Sheet

Aug 5, 2008

I am creating a series of macros for a workbook, and at the beginning of each macro I unprotect all sheets and at the end of each macro I protect the sheets once more. The issue I am having is that even with these macros in place, I continue to receive an Excel alert message saying:

"The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only. To modify a protected cell or chart, first remove protection using the Unprotect Sheet command (Review tab, Changes group). You may be prompted for a password."

The macro will then run. Everything works as it should, but I do not want this error message to pop up. I have tried inserting

Application.DisplayAlerts = False

into the code, but it does not stop the message.

IF Function Not Working For Entire Row While On Macro

May 10, 2014

I got a problem with a macro i'm working on. I got column D which contains text as "Figures", "Toys", "3DS", "PS3" etc. I also got column N where i need the macro to display "Toys" if it's a toy, figure, etc; or "Games" if it's "PS3", "PS4" etc.

I'm using the following code, to also select only blank rows (so to ignore row 1 which is table header). Problem is that the result shows only "Games".

VB:
Columns("N:N").Select
Selection.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).Select

Macro To Apply Existing Formula To All Rows In A Sheet

Jan 26, 2009

I'm currently applying these formulae manually, and also instructing other people to do the same, due to my lack of understanding of macros. Hopefully someone can give me some instruction as to how to do this automatically. I'd like people to be able to open sheets sent as normal CSV's and apply a macro to get them into the right format, changing only rows with data in them.

These are the instructions I'm currently sending:

In cell n1 enter:
full phone number

in cell m2 enter:
=RIGHT("00000000" & J2,8)

Drag m2 to last record

In cell n2 enter:
=CONCATENATE(61,I2,M2)

Drag n2 to last record

In cell o1 enter:
Date of call

in cell o2 enter:
=DATE(MID(C2,7,4),LEFT(C2,2),MID(C2,4,2))

Offset Function Not Capturing Entire Range

Feb 9, 2014

My worksheet has 1096 rows of data including headers. I am trying to create dynamic named ranges using the OFFSET function but when I check to see if they are capturing the entire range I see they are not.

Here is my formula:

OFFSET(SiteTrac!$FA$1,0,0,COUNTA(SiteTrac!$FA:$FA),1)
OR
OFFSET(SiteTrac!$FA$1,0,0,COUNTA(SiteTrac!$FA:$FA)-1,1)
OR
OFFSET(SiteTrac!$FA$1,0,0,COUNTA(SiteTrac!$FA:$FA)-1)
OR
OFFSET(SiteTrac!$FA$1,0,0,COUNTA(SiteTrac!$FA:$FA))

I have tried all four but every time it continues to stop on row 409. I have tried to name different columns and they all stop short too.

The above statement works great, but when I try to replace the HQA01 (worksheet name) with a cell reference it doesn't work anymore. I want to point to the cell that has that name of the sheet in it rather than hardcode each sheet name.

=IF($A2="","",IF(O$1="","",VLOOKUP($A2,$Q$1&"!$A$24:$AG$525",6,FALSE)))

When I try the &, or the concatenate function it appears to put quotes around the entire result

Formula That Paste Entire Row From One Sheet To Another

Example:
"L52" in sheet1 contains the text "1st" so the entire row 52 from column [A to COX] would be entered in sheet2 in A3 and the next instance where "1st" appears would be entered in in sheet2 in A4.

Please see the attached spreadsheet for a better explanation of what I'm trying to accomplish.

Autofilter Will Not Always Select Entire Sheet

Sep 4, 2009

I have a workbook that uses Autofilter.
Column A has data. Column B is hidden, has no data, and is empty.
Colmn C has data, on through the rest of the sheet (to Column AB).

Why column B has no data is unimportant for now. It, however, must maintain its existance and cannot be deleted.

When I select the autofilter sort button on column A, it selects only that column, and not the rest of the sheet. Data is subsequently scrambled.

When I unhide the empty column B and select the sort button on column B, it selects the entire sheet. Data remains intact.

When I select the sort button on column C, it selects the rest of the sheet, but not column A (with data), or B (with no data). Data is subsequently scrambled.
