How Do I Save A Workbook Keeping Only Formatting And The Values
Dec 9, 2009
I would like to know if there is an efficient way to save an excel workbook, with multiple worksheets as an .xls. I want the file to keep the formatting from the original file, while only saving the values of the original file. All the numbers in the original file are hyperion driven but the file is going to be emailed to people without hyperion. Is this possible?

I have 5 workbooks, loaded with macros and VBA, each of which has 12 tabs representing months of the fiscal year. Values for the previous day's financials are updated daily.
The files are then posted to the server, so that certain bigshots can view the results and subsequently complain to us about our miserable lack of committment.
Is there a way to save or export these files without the macros and code, (i.e. as 'Values Only')? Apparently, some of them get frightened by the message box that appears warning them about the potential dangers of roque macros and code, and would prefer me to deal with the problem, rather than adjusting their security settings or allowing me to install a Trust Cert.

I would like to link a macro to a button on the active sheet, that saves the active sheet In a New Workbook, with Format And Values Only. Preferably saved in the same location as the origonal workbook. This is my main goal.
If possible I would like the new workbook to be named from a chosen cell (E19) on the active sheet with date added.

I have a piece of code that runs through various excel files and takes the data (minus the header) and pastes that into a separate workbook. The piece of code that does the actual copying i think is this (i have used code from the msdn website)
Code:
With sourceRange
Set destrange = destrange. _
Resize(.Rows.Count, .Columns.Count)
End With
destrange.Value = sourceRange.Value
I have tried replacing the sourceRange.Value with sourceRange.Text however when i do that it will copy nothing any more.

I have 2 workbooks, one containing all my code and userforms and another containing all my data (which is continuously updated/ dynamic). I want to be able to manipulate the data without ever opening the workbook (at the moment I use the open workbook method, but it is extremely slow). I have found some code (Jwalk) which I think meets my needs (and is instant). I have adapted this so it points to a specific path rather than the active path as below etc. but I need to adapt it further so that:
1. When the data is opened it is formatted exactly the same as it is in the original sheet which includes any coloured cells, bold fonts, cell width, height and so on
2. Any changes I make can be saved back to the original sheet in the closed workbook.
3. The data always opens in a named specific worksheet i.e. "TempSheet" which sits in the workbook containing the code (my code is called from a userform within this workbook).
The code I am using from Jwalk is as follows:
Sub GetDataDemo()
Dim FilePath$, Row&, Column&, Address$
'change constants & FilePath below to suit
'***************************************
Const FileName$ = "Book1.xls"
Const SheetName$ = "Sheet1"
Const NumRows& = 10
Const NumColumns& = 10
FilePath = ActiveWorkbook.Path & ""
'***************************************
I am still learning VBA and can adapt/write small pieces of simple code, I have tried incorporating the paste special method, but in all honesty, don't know what I am doing and it results in lots of errors. Can anyone help me get this working/point me in the right direction? Also, what does 'Const' do? how do I bring in the data without specifying the number of rows, as this will be different every time?

I have a spreadsheet filled with formulas that depend on a value being entered into A2, A3, A4, etc... So column A starting at A2 is where I will manually input a number and the formulas I have in columns B, C, and D will import information from another sheet based off what is put in column A. In column D the formula I have to import data
is =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A2,Master!C:M,11,0),"").
This will import another number. Additionally in column D, I have conditional formatting that will return a red, yellow or green light based off the rule I have in place. Everything works fine, the only problem is that column D has a green light all the way down even without a value being placed in column A. I would like to find out a way to keep the cells in column D blank until a value is entered in column A. Also, if I go back and delete the value in column A, I would like the corresponding cell in column D to go back to blank as well.

I have a spreadsheet with a lot of financial information going down a column (about 500 rows down). Most of the cells are just typed in, but certain rows have sum formulas in them. Is it possible to copy values from another workbook, paste the values in, but somehow keep the formulas that are running through?

I have an expense report, which was originally done in Excel 2003. It still prompts users to open as read only however if they select no, they are not prompted for the password, and it has allowed them to save, so when the next person opens it, they have the previous person's report instead of the clean workbook. I have tried everything to put a password onto it. I know this is really basic stuff, but maybe I am missing a step? I want the end user to be able to make all the changes they want in read only mode and then do a save as, but if the select No when prompted "Open as Read-only?" they should have to put a password in.

I am trying to create a macro to run from a form button, within a report, to save a file to a variable file path and name depending on the date value in cell B5.
The format of B5 looks like - 13/08/2014 16:39
The file path has folders for each year in format "yyyy" with each year having sub folders for each month in format "mm".
The file name is just the date only and is formatted "dd.mm.yy" e.g. 13.08.14
I have tried the code below in various permutations but always end up with an error - Method 'SaveAs' of object '_Workbook' failed.

I have been trying to edit a code which previously saved a copy in a new workbook to a specific folder/path. (Additionally it copies and clears some figures, but this is working as it should.)
However I would like the copy to be saved at the same location as the original workbook, regardless of the path the original workbook is saved.
I.e if I need to move the workbook containing the code to a new folder/location, when using the macro, the new copy should be stored in the same folder/location as the original one.
For now it is only saving the copy into "My Documents"
Code:
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
' Macro recorded 16-02-2009 by ceng
'
Sheets("Bunker ROB").Select
Sheets("Bunker ROB").Copy
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
ActiveWorkbook.Path & Range("D3"), _
FileFormat:=xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled, CreateBackup:=False
[Code] ........

I'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.
Code:
Sub SaveSheetAsNewBook()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim InitFileName As String
Dim fileSaveName As String
Dim wshape As Shape
InitFileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & Format(Date, "mm.dd.yy")

I have two workbooks open. I need to "Save As" and close workbook 2 with a file name from a cell in Workbook 1. The macro is running from workbook 1.
I'm guessing a change in the last line. I don't know what Dim means either.
Dim FName As String
Dim FPath As String
FPath = "G:"
FName = Sheets("sheet 1").Range("A1").Text
ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FPath & "" & FName

I have a spreadsheet that data gets exported to from a software program. There is information such as customer name, part number, inquiry number, etc that I'd like to use to develop a log of all my estimates I create for parts. I'd like excel to take the cells I select and insert them into certain cells in the other workbook and automatically save that workbook. This will create a log of all my estimates where I can then link the full estimate to the log. The information will have to go in the next available row. Is there any way I can accomplish this without having to open the other workbook and save the work book each time?

Need VBA code to save column J of open workbook called LmbcAcctsPayable.xls, Sheet1, to same workbook & sheet called LmbcAcctsPayable.xls, Sheet1, when save is not selected.
Reason: The workbook is usually not saved because it is more of a templet with names in column A. Column J is updated with a date when a row is used so I need the column J to copy automatically to the blank templet when exiting without saving (using ThisWorkbook.Save = True in Auto_Close). That way, rows not being used for a long period of time can be periodically eleminated.

Every week I run the same report for different projects to show financials and such.
Each project will have a different number of rows based on how large they are or the scope or a combination.
The number of columns is always the same as well as the basic headings.
The system that provides the output creates a bland (well, ugly) report. Not the type of thing you want to distribute.
I'd like to create a report format that I can quickly and easily cut and paste (or use another functionality) to use on these reports. Yes, I can cut and paste the formatting from the "Master" report's format but it's not easy to do as I have to keep highlighting each report's data range before pasting. I'd like have my OWN template under autoformat.

I snagged this code out from another project I wrote, and it works fine in that one, but doesn't in the new project.
What I want, is when the person presses the exit button, it will save whatever was done, its running as a form printer and database. The code below is the code for my exit button.
Private Sub CommandButton4_Click()
Dim sAnswer As String
Dim i As Integer
' ****************
' ** Exit Button**
' ****************
When it gets to "If ActiveWorkbook.Saved = False Then" it does put the question out "Do you want to save changes" I click Yes and it doesn't save it.. I have tried both activeworkbook and thisworkbook ... I copied the code and verified all is good to go..

I am running the below code to basically apply a defined list to a cell containing the string "WORKDAMNIT". This list is used as validation. I am running into a HUGE problem where once I apply the validation on about 17,000 cells and try to save the spreadsheet I get an error saying that "Excel could not save all the data and formatting you recently added to...". Thus, the IF loop basically does a save of records everytime I hit about 1000 records. I can even see the file being saved. However, whenever I close the spreadsheet it asks me to SAVE!! If I try to save it I get the same error and if I dont NOTHING gets saved.
Sub Valid()
Dim listCount As Long 'counter
Dim cellCount As Long 'cell Counter for save function
Dim foundCell As Range 'found cell in sheet Find
Dim foundList As Range 'found cell in sheet list
Dim fwb As Workbook 'workbook value
Dim fsheet1 As String 'find sheet
Dim fsheet2 As String 'list sheet
Dim strMatchCol As Integer 'address value of column number
Dim col As String 'actual value of column string
Dim strFind As String 'The string we are searching for (eg. "blah blah")
Set fwb = ActiveWorkbook
fsheet1 = "Data"

I have a pretty simple spreadsheet (because I'm not an expert on excel) to track temp staffing requirements each week over a year. It only has about 150 rows and a bunch of columns but when I try to make it bigger (add more rows so I can put about 70 staffing positions instead of 19) it will not save (cannot save all of the data and formatting). I have read on the microsoft site that there are limits to data formatting, but it describes over 2000 rows?

master.xls data = B1:B10 (values are integers)
student.xls data = B1:B10 (values are integers)
I want to know how to update(add) the values in master.xls with the values in a closed workbook(student.xls). Basically if master("B3") = 5 and student("B3") = 1, it will update the value in master("B3") = 6.
