How To Avoid Repeating A Similar Loop Several Times (pivot)

Mar 2, 2007

I am coding a macro that would take all information needed from an existing pivot to put in in a new report file.

Now the problem is that I couldn t get to paste the data (for some weird reason), so I did a loop that terminates with IsEmpty...

My problem is I have to write on loop per column, because I don t know how to tell excel to go to next column (that I know!) AND to the first row, which means doing an offset of (x,1), but how do you set the x for it to be adaptable if I change the length of the pivot table?

I really hope someone can help me with this, I tried to replace range("first cell") by cell(x,... and set x as a variable but i am not good enough obviously....

Here is what I have so far:

Dim k
Dim w As Integer

Workbooks.Add
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs "C:Dokumente und EinstellungenCustomerServiceDesktopMonthlyReportAutomated.xls"
'iniatiation before loop
Workbooks("ChannelProductionlastestupdateJAN2007").Sheets("pivot").Activate
Workbooks("ChannelProductionlastestupdateJAN2007").Sheets("pivot").Range("a20").Select
k = Selection

Avoid Repeating Numbers In A Small Range

May 4, 2007

I have three cells in a column. A1, A2 and A3. There are only 4 possible numbers that these can have in them, 0,1,2,and 3. Here is the catch. None of them can repeat, although they can be in any order. And the column may only have data in the first cell or the first two or all three. Is there a simple macro that will alert me to when a number is repeated? It needs to be a macro rather than a apreadsheet function.

Avoid Changing A Loop Counter Within A Loop?

Oct 24, 2009

I've worked on a solution for this thread (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...-automate.html) but have been mentally challenged with how to avoid changing the loop counter in one of the loops I have used to resort an array of file names from the getopenfile dialog.

The aim of the shown code (see post 12 of the above link for attached file) is to check if the file containing the macro is included in the array returned by getopenfile while sorting the array of file names, and if so, moving it to the end of the array for "deletion" by redimming the array to exclude the last item. This problem of the open file being selected in the dialog may never arise, but... as the OP's request in the other thread was to allow two-way comparisons between numerous files, I've considered it likely enough to test for.

Here's the code I have settled for esp between the commented lines of hash symbols, which does change the counter (see the commented exclamation marks), but prevents an infinite loop (on my second try!) by using a second boolean flag of "HasCounterBeenChanged". Is there a better way of doing this? Or, alternatively (not in my thread title), is it possible to prevent the active file being selected through one of the arguments in the getopenfilename method?

Repeating Items A Specific Number Of Times

Jan 22, 2008

I am trying to create a formula that would provide a result a specific number of times based on a table in a seperate worksheet. Here is an example:

Person: # of times
John 2
Joe 2
Frank 2
Jack 1

Based on an IF statement, the cell should bring back John, the next cell down should bring back John, the third cell should bring back Joe as John has reached his limit of 2, and have this repeat until all criteria that meet the IF statement have been met.

Macro Loop – Find Specific Times, Extract Date, Average Values Of Times

Feb 23, 2010

In my workbook I have about 20 sheets (less in the attached sample), and on most sheets I’d like to query data for each day and find an average value based on the time and then copy that result into another sheet. I’m not sure if I’ll need 2 macro’s for this or if one can be used.

Here’s a quick description:

Assuming that I am currently in the sheet I want to run the macro, then I will either input “1:45” or “0:45” into a popup box, or I could always simply input the 1:45 or 0:45 in the code itself. I’m flexible

1:45:

If I input 1:45, then I’d like the macro to find the first 1:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation. Once 1:45 is located, then the macro moves up to find 22:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation.....

Repeating Multiple Cells A Set Number Of Times To Print Labels

Jun 1, 2009

I have a form that users will fill in, and I need to print a set number of labels (all identical) based on the info that is entered.

I have the form set up with data validation and indirect references(Lists on a separate sheet)

Example...

User enters in:
Customer name
Product name
Lot #
PO#
Date made
Number of items

From there I have a separate set of cells that reference the above info formated to how I want the label to appear when printed.

Now, I need to repeat that label the set number of times (# entered in as "number if items") in a label sort of format (not sure if a mail merge will work for this??)

Then, print off and stick identical labels onto each part that is manufactured per PO/Date etc.

Formula That Is Similar To The Pivot Slicer?

I have a list box contains of customer name and I used that to set up formula based on your selection in the list box. However, I wonder if there is a way that can select multiple customers in the list box and it will add up all that customers from your multiple selection like in the pivot slicer. I don't know if we have any formula that can do that complicated thing.

Pivot Table With Repeating Headers?

Dec 29, 2012

I've built a table that is meant to track the quality scores of multiple teams of agents. The agents are assigned to leads who are doing the quality monitoring. The goal is to track and trend the date the monitor is completed, the score of the monitor (scale of 1 - 12), who completed the monitor (initials in Lead column), and the running average score. The Score and Lead column are drop down validations.

This is being one of my first exploits into excel, so I am not sure if I built this correctly structurally, or what. When I go to create a pivot table off the data I have created, it's not calculating the values correctly. As an example if I want to count the number of 'score' for CCR1 it's always 1. From what I have been able to research is that this is because I have essentially repeated the headers multiple times. Below is what the table looks like so far.

CCR
Date
Score
Lead

Pivot Table - Loop Through Pivot Item Children?

Jan 7, 2014

I'm not grasping the Pivot Table correctly. I've written code to create a sum of values based on a worksheet. Specifically:LocationIDDeptSum of Hours Worked. Location, ID and Dept are rows. This effectively provides the aggregate values that I need based on the row groupings. Here's where this is falling apart. I need to create a new worksheet based on these values. I assumed the three row values - Location, ID and dept - would be in a hierarchy. It's possible they are, I just can't figure out the object model.

When I loop through the PivotItems collection of the PivotFields("Location"), I get what I need. However, I'm unable to determine how to loop through the child values (just for that location). PivotFields("ID") returns all IDs. I can't figure out how to return only the child entries for each pivot item. GetPivotData hasn't been very useful for this. As far as I can tell, GetPivotData, while its return type is listed as Range, throws an error when more than one cell is returned. Worst case, I suppose I can just parse the data in the DataBodyRange of the pivot table - maybe not, I haven't tried that. I'm hoping there's a way to iterate through these collections, but based on what I've seen from Google searches, there may not be. Does my pivot table need to be rearranged? I suppose I could also just dump this data into a data table

Index And Match With Repeating Values Without Repeating First Found Name

Apr 20, 2006

sorting data I use in a workbook for athletics. I've really chopped down my workbook for upload, In the worksheet "Leaderboard" I can call up stats for different lifts, and it finds (in this case) the top 5 lifts and the names for the kids that have those corresponding lifts.

My problem is that when two or more kids have the same lift, it will only call up the name of the first instance of that lift. You can see this in the "Leaderboard" worksheet, and the name "Adams, Andrew" appears for both lifts of 75. I would appreciate any help on how to correct this, as I've searched the Internet for weeks now looking for a solution. I've tried experimenting with different things as well, all to no avail.

Copy/Paste 30 Times Or Loop?

Nov 18, 2009

I've attached below a small part of my code. I am wondering if there is a way to do this, without copying and pasting something 30 times, but using a loop instead. As you can see there are a series of productsNumbers (30 in total, but this example is for 3). Each productNumber is a string that is actually a 5 digit number, so it can be an integer as well, if it has to.

I would like to code below to loop for as many products as there may be. The way that I have it right now does not work - I feel that I am missing something small or that there is no way to do this.

Compare Cell Times Within Loop

Apr 13, 2008

I have a routine that loops through a block of records containing two time fields. One is the same for every record (let's call it the start time) the other, which varies, is the last time at which an event happened before or after the Start time (let's call it the Event time). so a pseudo block of data may look like this;

A B

15:00:00 15:01:27
15:00:00 15:00:05
15:00:00 14:59:27
15:00:00 14:59:01
15:00:00 14:48:45

I need to identify the record that has the closest time in column B to that in column A (in the example above that would be B2 (15:00:05). I then save that record off and eliminate the rest for that time block. The whole subroutine then repeats for the next block of data and so on down the list, top to bottom ( times are in descending order). Note also that times will never span the 24-hour point - they all occur betrween 12:00 and 22:00 on any given day.......

Sum Times For Each Date Without Pivot Table

Jan 1, 2007

I am recording events on a day to day basis in excel using the first column as the date, second column as start time, and third column as end time. So an entry might look like 1-Jan _ 13:00 _ 13:40, in the three columns across. There will be multiple entries for each date, but the number of entries for each date will vary. Entries may also overlap in times. For example, the next row may read 1-Jan _ 13:10 _ 13:45. Some times there will be gaps such as a third row readng 1-Jan _ 14:15 _ 15:00. What I would like to do is compute the total elapsed time spent on projects for each day, not counting any overlaps. SO even though the total time spent on those three projects for January 1st is 120 minutes, I would like to know how much time during the day is spent doing work, regardless of how many projects are being done at the same time. So I would like excel to be able to tell me that on January 1st , 90 minutes of the day was spent on work. Hopefully this makes sense. I also need it to distinguish between dates so that it can tell me how much time was spent on January 1st. then January 2nd, 3rd and so on. It would be great if this ould be computed as the data is entered. Maybe It could record it on a new sheet with a column for each date and then it lists the time spent on that day in the row below it.

Loop Through Data In Second Column Of Pivot Table

Sep 27, 2012

I have a pivot table with two columns: Code and Quantity. I want to loop through the Quantity column and hide all values = 0. I can do this easily by incorporating this into my code:

Code:
pt.PivotFields("Code").PivotFilters.Add _
Type:=xlValueDoesNotEqual, DataField:=pt.PivotFields("Sum of Quantity"), Value1:=0

However, I have a "(blank)" code in all pivot tables. I do this because occasionally there is no data to organize in a pivot table. Having a "(blank)" option will allow my code to work even when there's no data. Therefore, I want to keep blank visible at all times. The above code hides "(blank)", however.

The below code is what I've tried with no success.

Code:
Set pf = pt.PivotFields("code")

If pi.PivotFields("Sum of Quantity").Value = 0 Then

Use IF To Avoid Getting Anything Written After

Nov 5, 2008

I'm havin' a chart for interest, instalments and so on;

Interest [X%] Loan [Z crowns/dollars]
Loantime [Y years] Instalment [formula, which is "=Z/Y/12"]for each month.

Year, Month, Loan(left), Instalment, Total payment
1, Januari, =Z, =Instalment (constant), =Interest+Instalment

Month, Loan(left), Interest
Februari, =above-Instalment, =X%*Loan(left)/12 (rent is divided per year),

Instalment, Total payment
Constant, =rent+Instalment

and so on... as long as you want ^^ (it's quite messy, but try :D)

The question is as follows "What would a loan of 900'000kr with 9% interest rate totally cost over 30 years?"

[use "IF" to avoid getting anything written after the loan expires]

The question itself can be easily solved by just dragging the formulas down to 30 years and fill in the % and loan etc. But what I do not understand is the "IF" question. I'm supposed to use the IF function to instantly show the cost of the loan (total rent payment) after the 30 years? That's how I understood it. In that case... how do I do that? ^^

Avoid #N/A In Vlookup

Formula To Avoid #DIV/0!

=AVERAGE(IF(A:A=B6,IF(C:C>0,C:C)))

"A" is a duplicated rep field and "B" is unique rep IDs and "C" is a sum of product types purchased. I'm averaging the number of product types sold by each rep.

I need to modify it to remove the #DIV/0! error it generates. It calculates just fine by row (with the error on some rows), but when I use that calculated field as an element in another formula, the #DIV/0! blows up the second formula. I tried a second IF function tied to the sales field "D" but I don't think I nested it right.
