I'm trying to extract the first and last cell positions of a specific year in a column of dates, eg 2013 start and end cell positions, for another formula to display data for the specified year.
I thought I could do this using the MATCH function but I don't know how to extract the year portion of the data for MATCH to recognise it. All the dates are stored as dd/mm/yy.
My workbook has a worksheet that lists service activities and a 2nd worksheet that contains a month-year column and an associated Customer PO# to be assigned to an activity based on its Open Date...if it is a specific type of activity.
My logic statement is IF activity type RO is "X", then match its Open Date to the Month-Year in the AssignPO# sheet and assign the associated Customer PO.
I've attached a sample workbook to make it simpler to understand.
So I use this formula on one of my task sheets to do budgets. Now the problem is we are entering 2014...yet the formula won't go into the next year without some sort of year scan:

that is the first formula but I need it to look up the year also and everything I have tried has failed miserably. So basically when it is matching with the month I have a drop down that has Jan-December...but I need it too look to the Feb 2014 not Feb 2013...How can I add the year section?
In cell b2 I have a formula =text(today(),"yyyy") which daisplays todays date as a year, in cell b3 I have =text(today(),"mmmm") which displays todays date current month.

I need todays (current) month and year to indicate in a helper column next to the relevent month and year as a number 1 to use as a reference to return date from the row where the 1 is displayed, I have tried =if(and(b2=a10,b3=b10),1,"")) and it dosent like the fact that the year in the colmuns is entered as standard text, is there any whay to do this?

I have a value that has a whole number and a decimal. From this number I need to figure the Year and month. The worksheet has constant values from which this can be determined.
Attached spreadsheet has the resource names and their date of joinings (Column - F2), now I would like group the date of joinings into Month & Year format. I tried text formula and then converted it back to date format but its giving incorrect results. For ex - Column F2 has 9th Sep -2013, whereas my formula in H2 is showing Sep-2014. Any way to group these dates into months in a simpler way?
Once I have this grouping done, I would like to do a pivot and sort them.
I have the following format in Excel, how I change to show just year as when I go to format, cells, it appears to be customed to be h:mm:ss but I need it as yyyy, which if I change to it shows 1900..

i have a set of conditional formatting set up for my workbook, the first is simply that if the result is false the cell is blank(white text,white background). the second if positive result,keeps the text black till 1 year has passed. the problem is the third, i.m trying to allow the user to blank out the cell within the year (white text,white background)if certain criteria are met. the idea is that they change the entry in cell D from T to TX or from M to MX and the formula pick this up, but i keep getting a error saying "your formula contains an error", the formula im using is, =if(or($D5="tx","mx")) then i set the format to (white text,white background). its probably really simple but i,ve been trying to solve this now for around 8 hours and i.m stuck

I can produce a message if the user leaves either box blank but I want a message to apear it the user selects a year AND month less than the current year (iYear) and current month (iMonth). Matching Sheet1!C:C if cell contains "Hcap" to Sheet2!C:C where cell equals "Handicaps". If Sheet1!C:C doesnt contain "Hcap" match to Sheet2!C:C where cell equals "All Races".
To use an example, if E:E in the cell adjacent to all the matches above equals N then the cell in Sheet1!D:D turns red. Cell D52 would become red. D88, D91, D92, D93 and D96 would also become red. Here was my attempt at the formula, no idea if I was close to the answer.

Looking for a formula to compare current year values to previous year values. For example, if the current year has values for the month of January through March (100, 100 and 150), current year value will be 350 and the previous year value will be 975 (i.e. 300+275+400). The aim here is to make the previous year months summation equal to the present (or current) values. As new values are entered for the current year, the previous year's values will have to change to reflect the new month's value entered for the current year.

I am working on a budget for myself and want it to have running dates so the first data column will have the current month. I was able to succeed with this using the EOMONTH function followed by EDATE functions in the following cells, I then have these columns filled using a nested VLOOKUP MATCH function pair.
The problem I run into is with the months that extend into the next year, in my data table I have month by month listed started on 01/01/2014 ending 12/01/2014 but as soon as the month is no longer January the last column in my budget cannot find the information needed due to it looking for 2015. so what I would like to know is if there is a way to make the data table change the year to the following year after today is beyond that month, so for example on March 1 2014 both January and February would be changed to 2015.

We can clearly see that we have a match in rows 2 and 1 columns A and B, but I am getting #NA. I have sorted the columns A-Z as well. I have also tried formatting the columns different ways and I still get #NA.
I need to conditionally format column B if it finds a match in A.
I'm trying to format the color of a certain cell, if two values match.
A1=100
B1="Choose"
I want to format B1 to color RED, if A1=any number, and B1="Choose".
B1 contains list-data where you can chose from different values.
So if A1 contains a value, and B1 has not been set a different value than "Choose", format B1 to RED. Which would indicate that you have to set a value for the rest of the worksheet to work.
I am trying to do an IF statement, if the activecell's value is equal to this current year, do nothing and if its not the current year, to offset one column to the right and insert a blank column, then copy the whole column to the left and replace it with the new blank column.

Is there a way convert, for example, 2/8/1963 to 2/8/2009 without using Concatenate?
I know that in order to draw a chart where a data line for a certain period is compared with the same period the previous year, one should have the 2 sets of data of different year side by side columnwise. However, is there a way where I could still churn out the same line chart when the data is all on a single column?

I have Figures which are pasted as values on top and on A column but they do not agree unless i F2+enter on each figure on Column A that would mean 50000+ enteries.. i have tried copying column A and row 1 and pasting it as value but still no change. Row 1 header figures are typed manually.
