Indexing Multiple Columns To Return A Result From A Separate Column

Oct 22, 2009

Sheet2:
col A = contains the style#
col B = contains the color of the style
col C = contains the size of the style
col D = contains the qty of the style, color, size

Sheet1:

I would like to do the following:

A1 = input the style #
B1 = input the color of that style
C1 = input the size of that style

then D1 should automatically contain the qty of the mentioned style, color, and size.

Compare Values In Multiple Columns And Return A Result

Mar 17, 2009

I have a spreadsheet with three years worth of data for a property I manage. Each column has cost data for the year and the specific department/cost for that year as the row value.

I have a column between the years that calculates the percent of gross revenue for the specific department/cost.

I would like to find (or create) a formula that will compare the percentage (or specific cost) for the three years within the specific row and if the increase year over year over year exceeds a trigger value it returns something (check me out/true/false) whatever.

The cost items for the property are in the hundreds so I'm trying to come up with a way to quickly see what specific cost items are going up (or down) more rapidly then what would be considered normal.

Search In Mulitple Columns And Return Corresponding Column/Row Result

Apr 30, 2008

Basically, I need to look for an item, lets use "apple" as an example, in a range of cells, A1:D100. Then the corresponding result would be in another column in the same row.

For A Column Of Cells Separate Text In Single Cell Across Multiple Columns

Nov 29, 2013

New task for work today, which involves creating a spreadsheet for all existing members of an organization. I went to the organization's website and copied all of the names & info, then pasted into a blank spreadsheet. All of the entries were separated into their own rows, but all of the information is only in one column. Take a look at my sample:

(NOTE: does not contain actual names or info) Book1.xlsx

This sample only contains 5 entries, but my actual list contains about 200; if it had just been the 5, I would have been fine with manually separating the information, but for 200 entries I need something much faster. You'll notice in the sample that the company, person, address, phone number, email, and website (when there) are not separated by anything. I know that using Text-to-Columns, I would technically be able to achieve what I need using the Delimited option, but I can't imagine this working without separators. I thought perhaps there might be a way to separate them based off font changes or something? Or maybe some way that I can insert a semi-colon or some kind of separator between the necessary data?

While the font is Arial for the majority of the entries, in terms of font changes: company font size is 12 and color is navy blue; the person's name is size 18, bolded, and dark grey; the address & phone number are size 9 and the color is light gray; and finally, the email & website are also size 9, but navy blue in color. However, you'll notice that two of the five entries are formatted differently. This is because formerly, the entire cell & its text were a hyperlink to the email. I went ahead and removed these hyperlinks, simply using a "Remove Hyperlink" macro walk through I found on the web, but now these cells are uniformly set to Calibri and size 11, my default font setting.

Return A Count From Multiple Columns - Each Column Has Multiple Answers

Sep 28, 2012

Want a single count of multiple columns based on the columns selected value. Data is in text format.

Have tried multiple COUNTIF statements and have tried using pivot table (Excel 2010) both only give me total counts for all. I think I need an OR statement somewhere, but not sure where?

In other words, if a single record has an "any" in the any fields or a "yes" in the yes fields, I want to to count that as one record.

Sample data:

Pegnancy Smoke
Pregnancy Alcohol
Pregnancy Marijuana
Pregnancy Powder
Stress Cigarettes
Stress Marijuana
Stress Alcohol
Stress Medication

Lookup With Multiple Result Return

Aug 17, 2007

I have an excel worksheet that consists of 4 tabs. Each tabs has approximately 60,000 lines of data. The data consists of user id's and menus that correspond to the user id. There are 131 user id's in total. I would like to be able to return all the menus for one of the user id's. If we need to start with one tab and work from there, that's fine.

Look Across Row And Return Result Down Corresponding Column

Dec 16, 2009

I need to figure out a formula that will look across a row and once it finds the criteria specified, it will return a value going down the corresponding column. I have attached a file showing the example.

Index Function With Multiple Ifs Won't Return More Than First Result

Aug 11, 2014

I am attempting to get an INDEX function with multiple "IF" statements to return more than one result. Building multiple IF statements. That portion of the below formula works. However, I can only get the INDEX formula to return the first, single result.

Formula:
=IFERROR(INDEX(Func_Area,SMALL(IF(Const_Start<=DATE(YEAR(\$B\$2),MONTH(\$B\$2),DAY(\$B\$2)), IF(Cost_End>=DATE(YEAR(\$C\$2),MONTH(\$C\$2),DAY(\$C\$2)),ROW(Func_Area)-MIN(ROW(Func_Area))+1,"")),ROWS(\$A\$4:A4)))," ")

Func_Area,Const_Start,Cost_End are all Named Ranges on Sheet "Proposed". My intention is to return a list of projects on Sheet Test1 for all projects starting construction after a certain date and completing construction before a certain date. I suspect something in my ROWS fuction or ROW-MIN+1 is wrong.

This formula returns the first result in the first row, but every subsequent row is blank...see attached spreadsheet.

Lookup Multiple Conditions To Return One Result

Sep 28, 2009

I am preparing an "automated" order form. I have a list of products (ten) in a pull down list, a list of options (3) in a pull down list and a list of the pricing.

So, If PRODUCT_A with OPTION_A, then PRICE = \$X.
If PRODUCT_A with OPTION_B, then PRICE = \$Y.
If PRODUCT_B with OPTION_C, then PRICE = \$Z.

etc.

I want the user to select the product, then the option, and have the correct price "pre-fill" the cell.

Return Result Based On Multiple Criteria

Sep 19, 2009

I have been trying this for hours but to no avail.

I have a table with 4 columns headers
Name, Amount, Loc and Code

The name may look like ABC 1, ABC 2....
The Loc may be in US, GB...
and the Code may be AA, BB

I need to return a result "Y" if the sum of the amount is > 100
and "N" if the sum of the amount < 100 based on the conditions
of the following :if

1) Name is the same entity, such as ABC 1 and ABC 2 and
2) Loc is the same, US..and
3) Code is the same

I have attached a sample to illustrates the result

Copy Multiple Columns In Multiple Workbooks Into Separate Worksheet?

Feb 27, 2014

The following code won't let me copy from the first workbook. I get a run time 1004 error stating "That command cannot be used on multiple selections".

I would rather not have to copy this by column for each of the 4 workbooks

Lookup Multiple Criteria In Different Tabs To Return Result

Jun 5, 2008

I am trying to lookup two distinct values in two columns (turquoise and green) in 'Cust data' tab and correlate them to the same values in two columns on 'Driver activity' tab, then return a result from column in yellow on 'Driver Activity' tab to populate the driver name in yellow column on 'Cust data' tab.

Return 1 Result From Many Based On Multiple Condition Check Of Cell Value

May 21, 2008

I am trying to write a formula to figure out Body Mass Indexes for certain age groups and whether or not they fall into a High or Low risk category. So, I am trying to write a formula that does the following. I have 3 columns, Gender, Age and BMI. I need the formula to do the following.

IF Gender = M AND Age >18, <39 AND BMI >7%, <19%, Then return an "L" into 4th column
IF Gender = M AND Age >18, <39 AND BMI >19%, Then return an "H" into 4th column

Lookup Names Within Text And Return That Name To Separate Column If Found

Jun 13, 2013

I'm using a formula to lookup names within text and return that name to a separate column if it's found.

The formula is =INDEX(\$E\$1024:\$E\$1026,MATCH(FALSE,ISERROR(FIND(\$E\$1024:\$E\$1026,E1010)),0))

I understand index and match functions, but I'm confused regarding the use of FALSE as the lookup value and the iserror(find( usage.

Separate Data From One Column To Several Columns

Jan 3, 2014

I'd like to copy information from a PDF into a worksheet. The information looks like this:

1 PAOZZ 5310-00-918-0482 80205 NAS1291-7 NUT.............................................................................. 1
2 PAOZZ 5305-00-995-2125 80205 NAS603-7P SCREW.......................................................................... 2

4 PAOZZ 5306-01-106-8238 80205 NAS6603-3 BOLT ............................................................................ 8

When I paste it into excel it all gets entered into one column, I'd like to spread it out over 7 columns. Is there an efficient way to do that?

Create Separate Columns From One Column

Jun 27, 2009

I have a spreadsheet with these columns:Group_Name
Contact Name
Company Name
Contact ID

Situation:
The Group Name Column has the name of the group that the Contact Name is a member of. The Contact Name could be a member of many Group Names and therefore there may be many rows of the same Contact Name one with each Group Name that they are a member of. I have manually created separate columns for each Group Name in the spreadsheet that is attached.

Goal:
I would like to have a macro that will look at the Group Name column and create a new column for each distinct group. I then would like the macro to go down the Contact Name column (I believe that I will have to have it sorted)and look at the Group Name that is listed in that row and put "True" in the Group Column that was created in the above step. Then, go to the next row, if the Contact Name is the same, look that the Group Name column and put "True" in the corresponding Group Column in the FIRST ROW OF THAT CONTACT NAME. Then Delete that row.

Separate Column Of Names Into 2 Columns Of First And Last Name?

Nov 13, 2013

I have a column of first and last names that sometimes look like this: Smith, Michael D and other times look like this Smith, Michael (no middle initial) I would like to separate them into two separate columns, one for First name and the other for last name. I have no use for the middle initial so that can be ignored.

Indexing And Vlookup Multiple Information

Separating Data From One Column Into 2 Separate Columns

Apr 10, 2013

I have a glossary with 400+ rows in column A. See examples below. I'd like to separate them so that the term is in column A and the definition is in column B. Once Done I will not need the . Normally instead of that tag I would have a hyphen separate the term from definition but the fact that some terms have a hyphen like "D-VHS" was throwing me further. In the end I will not need a separator because everything will be in separate cells.

DSL Digital Subscriber Line is a technology for bringing high-bandwidth information to homes and small businesses over ordinary copper telephone lines. A DSL line can carry both data and voice signals and the data part of the line is continuously connected.

D-VHS Connects a digital audio/video cable for use with some D-VHS digital VCRs.

E-Mail Messages sent to a customer's receiver that are viewed on their television screen. Pending messages are indicated by an icon on the on-screen status display (channel marker) and by having the Power button flash. (Not all receivers have a blinking light.)

Look Up Data From Multiple Columns And Insert In One Cell Using Comma To Separate?

Jan 31, 2014

I have a data set that I wish to look up the data from one column and if it is greater then 0 write it in another column separated by commas. Here is an example:

The data is dates that a service was provided and how many time that day it was done and not everyone gets the service on the same days. I would like to summarize the days of the month that service was provided not number of times into 1 cell.

A B C
Row 1 November
Row 2 1 5 15
Row 3 1 0 2
Row 4 0 1 3

November is in A3

If A2 is greater then 0 I want to write A1 A2 If A2 and A3 is greater then 0 I want to write A1 A2, A3 If A2 is 0 and B2 is greater then 0, I want to write A1 B2

Splitting Text And Numbers From 1 Column Into Separate Columns

Jul 24, 2014

I have some data that is both text and numbers in the same cell. I would like to split the the data so that the text is in one column and the numbers are in another column.

The numbers are all a fixed length (15 chars) so I know that I can use the following formula = RIGHT(A1,15)

However I am not quite sure how to split the text as the length can vary as as well as the number of words in the string.

For example A1 is 1 word with 7 characters but A2 is 2 words, 14 characters long inc space.

A1 Goodwin 000710280740120
A2 Gillette Ridge 000715058510122

B1 Goodwin
C1 000710280740120

B2 Gillette Ridge
C2 000715058510122

Identify MAX Value From Two Columns And Display Result In Other Column In Pivot?

May 30, 2013

I have a pivot table and perhaps that isnt the best way to do this. (Sample attached). Ultimately I need to display two columns only:

There are three columns of data.

There are multiple instances of the same application in ColA, ColB has usage =true or blank and ColC has multiple instances of the same business.

Based on the count of Application in ColA, and the count of Usage =True, I need to return the Business with the MAX count.

Note: the usage cannot be a filter, it must be a count.

Reorganizing Data To Show Info From Two Separate Columns In Third New Column

Feb 5, 2014

I've got a problem with organizing my data. I've performed a study with several participants, each of which does several trials with 8 conditions (1,2,3,4,5,6,7, or 8), with each participant doing a condition more than once. I also have a separate column telling me whether they responded correctly or incorrectly (with a 1 or a 0).

I need to find a way to produce a new column to identify whether they got each condition (of the conditions 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, or 8) correct separately, i.e one column for responses to condition 1, one for condition 2 and so on....

It would also be useful if there was a way that once this is done I could summarize their accuracy of responses to each condition.

I've attached an example of my data. excel problem example.xlsx‎

Macro VBA For Copy Paste Columns Of Data From Three Tabs Into One Column On Separate Sheet

Nov 18, 2013

I have a workbook with four tabs or four sheets.

Tabs 1, 2 and 3 have a column of data (Column A) on each sheet. They all start from the same cell. Each cell of data are just numbers. The column (an array) of data will not have blanks between.

But, they are not the same number of data. They vary.

Meaning, Tab 1 may have 15 numbers (A1 to A15), Tab 2 may have 20 numbers (A1 to A20) and Tab 3 could have 5 numbers (A1 to A5). Each iteration of the workbook may have different number of data in the A column on these tabs.

Now on Tab 4, I want combine the data from all three tabs into one column (in column A).

So, Tab 4 has a column A with data from Tab 1 copy and pasted to (A1 to A15) as values, then (A16 to A35) have Tab 2 data copy pasted as values and (A36 to A40) have Tab 3 data copy pasted as values.

Basically, the macro on Tab 4 has to count the number of rows on each Tab that are populated with data values and figure out to copy all the data on Column A from each three tabs and paste the data value into the Tab 4 in one column of data (in values).

If Statement/indexing: Column To Adjust Based On The Date Of The Transaction/trip

Jun 17, 2009

I have an employee expense voucher with a column that calculates mileage. I also have a column that lists what the mileage rate is. I'd like for that column to adjust based on the date of the transaction/trip.

Here's an example. Trip between 7/1/08 - 12/31/08 = .585 mileage. Trip between 1/1/09 - 12/31/09 = .405 mileage. If someone turns in a receipt for a trip taken on 11/13/08, I want the form to adjust the mileage rate to .585. Wasn't sure if this is an indexing kind of thing, or if there's an if statement I could use.
