Inserting Rows In Variable Positions?
Nov 23, 2012I'm analysing some data sets with variable content, and need to insert blank rows every so often to provide space to do some analysis. The problem I have is that the position of the blank rows change according to the data set, I have been able to calculate how often the row needs to be inserted using VBA as part of my import routine and saved this value to a cell, but I cant figure out how to write the VBA which will insert rows using this value and stop at the end of the data set.
In the attached example I need to insert a row each time the data in column 2 (name) changes, this is the value I have calculated which in this example is 7. So in this attached file I need to insert a row in row 2, row 9 and so on etc. But this is what changes depending upon the "Product" held in colum 1.

Aug 8, 2009On the attached Excel file, I have code that will insert a variable number of rows and copy and paste from and to variable positions. That all works fine when run from a command button, but when I try to run it from the Worksheet_Calculate by entering 1 in J1 or K1 (inrange cell is J1+K1 for testing purposes) the CommandButton1_Click sub runs continously until an error occurs.

Mar 5, 2013I have a worksheet with four data columns A,B,C,D starting in row 2. I want to add between every row, exactly 11 blank rows. So if we have:

Suppressing Blank Rows When Populating One Worksheet With Data From Another
Sep 11, 2009Column M of Sheet 1 contains either "y" or "n". I'd like Sheet 2 to populate with data in cells A-D but only for rows where column H = "y". I can figure out the condition easily enough: =IF('Sheet 1'!M2="Y",'Sheet1'!A2,"")
Repeat for each column to display. But I'd like to suppress the blank rows for both display purposes and the possibility of using in a Word mail merge.
Deleting Groups Of Rows When Specific Text Data Is Populating Row?
Feb 14, 2013I have a complex report with thousands of lines I am trying to clean up. In order to do this, I need VBA that recognizes specific text data starting after row 9. When it sees this, it will need to select and delete the 2 rows above it, the row it is in, and the 6 rows below it. 9 rows in total, some of which are blank. The text will repeat every 47-50 rows, but I cannot say exactly when it will repeat again. When it is repeated, I need the 9 rows deleted. At this time, there is only 1 column in the report because I need to split out the data in the cell into adjoining cells. Since I have not solved that yet, I need to just delete the entire row.
The text is written with spaces between each letter and a double space between words. It reads, "B I L L I N G M A S T E R I N V O I C E S E T U P L I S T I N G"

Dec 21, 2011i have a spread sheet that has a number of different addresses in them I need a vb code that will insert 5 rows between each row of data starting from row 42 and has the possiblity of running to the end of the rows 65536. i believe the best way to do it is via column B which will always have data in it. i have tried a number of methods but they all only insert the rows once or they do it the required ammount of times one after the other so i end up with a whole section of blank rows and all my data still together.

Sum Of Variable Number Of Rows
Aug 7, 2009I reckon this should be easier than I'm finding it, but I just can't seem to find the right combination of functions to solve this. In column A I will have an entry every 5 or 6 or 7 rows with blanks rows between. In Column B starting at every row corresponding with an entry in Column A there will be a short column of figures could be 1 2 3 or four or more of them. (the're will always be a blank between the last number in a group in B before the next entry in A). In column C starting at every Row corresponding to an entry in column A I want the sum of the group of figures in Column B.
But here's the rub.... The most important thing is that I can use the same formula all the way down column C. So click the one formula at the top and drag it all the way down 1000 rows.

Finding Breaks In Data, Inserting Rows
Jan 20, 2007I've got data output (~500 rows) that's going into a larger, formatted sheet. The data going into the sheet is about 8 columns of material and the formatted sheet has over 20 columns (the rest to be filled out by the engineers). I'm tacking the new information to the bottom of the sheet (in the corresponding, non-consecutive columns), but the question now is how to format it.
Each location has recommendations, about 1-5 rows. What I want to do is insert a row after each different entry (probably by location address) so it will be more visually accessible (this is the format of the sheet).

The problem is that the group uses this data for data entry and wants a blank row between each different patient name within the physicians subtotals and I have no clue how to get there. Aug 16, 2008I'm trying to write a macro that will validate data in variable amount of rows but will always be in a specific column. what i'd like to do is count the amount of row entries in Column A to give me "iRows." Then validate data in column E from E1-E"iRows." Currently my data validation runs for the entire column which means i can not validate blank entries. Once I can limit the validation process from E1 to E "iRows" then I can consider blank fields and mark them as invalid.

I want it to go to sheet "Samples" and insert a number of rows equal to the value on sheet "Create Package" cell "AA14" (so 2 rows)
I have a header row in row 1, so I would like it to insert the designated number of rows beneath that.
Then I would like it to copy a designated number of rows (based off of the "AA14" value, so 2) from the "Create Package" sheet starting at row 66 and then paste special values into the new rows that were inserted on sheet "samples".
Populating Combobox (ActiveX) Using Variable
Mar 19, 2014I have 100 combo boxes on an excel sheet, they are divided in three sets (1-25, 26-50, 51-100). Each set has the same value within the set, but is different from the other.
Right now I am able to populate the combo boxes using the following code

Jun 23, 2014As you can see in the attached excel doc, I have calculated a column for "Number of Claims Per week" and also "Dollar amount Per claim". This was done using VLOOKUP and distributions. That is not the issue.
The issue I am having is creating the "TOTAL" for the week. So for example, if week one generates 4 claims, I need to be able to add up claim amount #1-#4.
It seems as though this would be a basic function, but I can seem to find a way to add up a certain number of cells, based on a variable generated from a random number.
If you take a look a my excel sheet, I am trying to solve for the "Claim Total" column on the far right. This column should be the sum of (Number of claims * The individual amount per claim). Note that if there is 4 claims in that week, I would have to add up claim 1-4 to get that weeks total.

Inserting Page Breaks On Relative Rows Based On Data
Oct 29, 2008Each week I format a report that I receive that lists every product a particular employee closed. Its a list of each employee, the product and date. I'll have about 20-30 lines for each employee. I can easily sort by the employee name to have a nice list.
From here what I do is use a forumla to mark where each employee's name changes, then filter by that changed line and insert page breaks for each of these lines. Is there a way to macro this to save me time, having 270 employees takes alot of time still, because thats 270 manually inserted page breaks.

Nov 23, 2012I have a data set which is structured such that there are variable numbers of products (column A) from 1 - 48 and these repeat multiple times for each "Name" held in column B. I have attached an example of this which uses a data set with 7 entries reapeating 7 times.
I need excel to insert 2 formula for me multiple times which needs to varry according as follows
1. Calculate the average value of data in Column C - G for n cells starting at a specific cell (C2), I have inserted an example of this and highlighted it in yellow. This then needs to repeat down column C several times, the number of times this will repeat depends upon the number of different names held in column B. But I have this calculated already and stored in a cell im my main document.
2. Calculate the variance of each value in the x cells above from the average calculated in point 1 above. I have highlighted this also in yellow.

Inserting VLookup With Variable Source Name With VBA?
Feb 23, 2012I'm trying to create a macro that will open automatically generated report outputs and manipulate the data.
The macro will run from it's own workbook (Report Macro.xls), sheets / cells within this workbook are available as 'helpers'.
So far what I have working ok is;
Via a browse dialogs in a userform in Report Macro.xls I select 5 different report outputs. I'm storing the full filename & path in Sheet Data, Cells B1:B6 (B1 being the filename & path to the macro file). In column C I have just the filename
The first file is opened and manipulated as required. The next thing I need to do with it is to open the second file (filename / path in B3) and put a Vlookup in cell 02 of the first file which will look for data in the second (the second file will only ever have a single sheet).
As a formula I'd be using

Inserting String Variable Into VBA Command Line

I am trying to create a for loop that sequentially references the numbers of the text boxes and pulls the user-entered value in the text boxes into an Excel document.

Variable Data Dependant On Number Entered

Cell 1 equals a number
Cell 2 is the number entered into cell one times(X) 35 up until the number 6 is entered. Any number above 6 is Times 50. So. 1-6 is times(X) 35 while 6+ is Times(X) 50.
I am. Here's another example:
A salesperson gets a commission of $35 for each widget sold up to the first 6 widgets. If he sells more than six widgets, he gets paid $35 for the first 6 and $50 for anthing over 6.
The sales person will enter the number of widgets sold into a cell and the formula should do the rest.
I have been stuck on this for months.

I am able to enter a number and populate the sub item using VLookup but I would like to populate a picture based on the sub item. The pictures are located in there own folder inside the folder where this excel file is located.
