Protect/lock Cells After User Input
Jan 9, 2009Have a worksheet that will be used multiple times. User will enter name and employee number only on the first instance that the worksheet is opened. Would like to protect that info automatically for further usage. Most of the worksheet is protected but some cells need to remain unlocked so the "whole" sheet protection will not work.
How do I protect only specified cells, say F3, G3, H3, I3, after the user enters data thru an input box without changing any other protected cells on the sheet?

May 23, 2012Is there anyway to lock down the time & date when I input a data? Assuming I have a TIME formula in column A, and a DATE formula in column B. So when I input any data in column C, A & B can automatically show and also lock the time & date.

Mar 12, 2008What I am doing is creating a spreadsheet solution to tack race times. These show up in past performances in the following formats in paper copies: 45 2/5 seconds. The end user would have to put in maybe 30 of these times based on the number of contestants. Keeping in mind that the 45 2/5 number will be used in some calculations, I want to give the user the easiest input interface. Meaning instead of inputting like this; 0:45.4 (mm:ss/00 format), I would like them to just enter 45.4. the spreadsheet would input format this cell into a time format that would be able to have calculations done to it. Another example might be 1:35.60 (mm:ss.00 format) which is 1 minute 35 and 3/5 seconds. This would be entered as 135.6.
A few questions first:
1) Would it be easier to leave the number inputed alone until the calculations ar finished then translate into a time factor?
or
2) would it be necessary to convert into a time factor as inputted be cause of the 60 factor involved with the time factor?
Having asked those questions, setting this all up with the exact scope I am working towards, any help or sugesstions as to the best way to proceed would be fantastic!
Check User Input To Prevent Run-Time Error
Dec 28, 2007what I want. It relies on an input box asking the user to enter a part code, which when found creates a duplicate copy. However, if the user enters a part that doesn't exist I get a run-time error. Can anybody point me in the right direction so when a user enters an incorrect part they get a message telling them it doesn't exist.

Prevent The User From Saving The Data Input From The User Form If Any Of Those Three Fields Is Left Blank
Feb 9, 2010I have a user form that has a combo box "City" two text boxes one called "Flight" and the other "Date". What I'm trying to do is to prevent the user from saving the data input from the user form if any of those three fields is left blank. The code that I have so far checks all of the required fields, if any are left blank a message notifys which field(s) is left blank and return the focus back to that field. But the rest of code also fires.
What I really need is either to stop the code if any fields are blank and return the focus back to the blank field, the user completes the field(s) and clicks the save again, or better yet, pause the code until all the required fields are completed and then complete the save. (There is actually another 200+ lines of code in this sub, but I deleted it to keep the post a little shorter.)

Lock Cells For A Certain Time After Entry
Oct 10, 2012I've got a spreadsheet set up for a simple barcode scanning system. The user scans the barcode of the product when complete, and it logs it to a sheet along with a date & time timestamp. I'm then planning to use a v-lookup (barcode to product name) & pivot-table to count instances of 'product name' so that I can monitor what is being produced easier, nothing too tricky.
The problem I'm having comes from the products of the same spec having the same barcode, so data validation is hard to apply, as I can't 'not allow dupes' - the concern I have is that if the user unknowingly (or knowingly!) scans the same ticket twice, I think I've got 2 of a product when I've only got one. The idea I had was to lock all cells for a set time period (say 1 minute) after an entry so that it couldn't be accidentally scanned twice.

Oct 13, 2011I have a time tracking sheet. In Column C and Column D there is a start time and end time respectively where my team people will enter the current time accordingly.
I would like to lock the cell once they enter the time but the entire sheet should not lock. Only the Column C and D should lock upon people enter the time. Basically, once user enter the time, they should not be able to change it.

Converting A Whole Number Into An Amount Of Time
Sep 5, 2009field A1 & B1 are variable user input. The goal is to subtract B1 from A1, take the result and divide it by 176 (a fixed number) and display the result as minutes:sec.
For example:
A1 B1
14,000 (minus) 2,200 (= 11,800 /176 =) 67
I want to result (67) to display in field C1 as 01:07 (min:sec)
I tried (A1-B1)/176 and formatted C1 to be min:sec but the result displays as 5:27 I have no idea what that number represents.
Exit Loop After X Amount Of Time?

Jun 21, 2013I have been looking all over and cannot find an answer on how to do this. I work for a call center that takes inbound technical support calls. We recently added a chat support option for our end users. Our chat agents can take up to 3 chats at the same time. I need to determine the total amount of concurrent chats for each agent per day as well as the total amount of concurrent time for each agent per day. Below is a sample of my data. Notice how the start time on row 5 is earlier than the end time on row 4. I need excel to count this as a concurrent chat and then calculate the amount of time that was concurrent (in this example it would be 16 minutes). Currently I have 2000 rows of data and 30 different agents.

Cell Auto-lock After Entering Time
Sep 16, 2013I have created a time sheet and I would like to know if there is a way to auto-lock cells after time is entered so that it cannot be changed. As of right now I have employees enter the time by using Shift+Ctrl+;, so the exact time is recorded, however employees can write in whatever time they want. so I guess what I want to do is 2 things:
1- can the cell be formatted to only accept Shift+Ctrl+;, so that the exact time is entered in the cell and prevent employees from entering times they were not at work?
and
2- can the cell auto-lock after Shift+Ctrl+; is entered so that they can't modify the time sheet the next day if they arrived earlier than the day before?

Step 2: If yes, run the macro
Step 3: If no, prompt the user with a msgbox of Retry/Cancel.
Step 4: If the user selects Retry, wait till he makes a selection.
Step 5: If the selection is a chart, run the macro. If the selection is not a chart prompt the same msgbox again and keep looping it till he selects a chart.

Mar 28, 2009I would like to do a Macro which requires user to go to a specific line which is variable in each work sheet. I would like to be able to enter the number and then delete all lines below that point and then continue with the balance of the macro.
Is there an easy way to pause the Macro and then restart it? Or is there a code that I can insert in the Macro to locate a specific Cell and then delete all lines below the next line?
