Lookup Moving Dates Based On Alphanumeric Codes

May 30, 2012

I'm currently creating a formula to look up the date based on the alphanumeric codes, my problem is if it crosses the year, say 2011 & 2012, the lookup will be distorted because codes for jan. 1 2011 & jan. 1 2012 is the same. Our alpha numeric code is A01= Jan. 1.

to elaborate further:

wanted to get the ageing days between todays date and item manufactured date:
today: May 30 2012

when the administrator enters the manufacturing date code of "A01" I have a look up of the code that equates A01=Jan 1. which will compute the difference of May 30 2012-Jan. 1 2012 and give me the Age date of 150. Now, if I enter H1, I wanted to have it look up at the 2011 not 2012 of Aug. 1; is there a look up formula that looks up the date already past (current date below), not the future date of under the same database?

Paste A Value Within A Row Based On Column Lookup Containing Dates?

Oct 27, 2009

I'm looking to create a small section of VBA code on Excel 2007 that looks for a specific date on a column and then pastes a value on the correct row.

I have weekly dates in columns along the top of my spreadsheet on row 3:
C3 = 07/11/08
D3 = 14/11/08
E3 = 21/11/08
etc...

The row further down the spreadsheet that I wish to use is selected by previous code and could be any row number within column B.

I need a snippet of code that searches for a particular date along row 3, and then once it finds the correct column, it pastes the value in the corresponding cell on my active row.

For example, if my active cell/row happens to be on B18, and the date I'm looking for happens to be on L3, I need to paste a value into cell L18.

I imagine there needs to be some form of HLookup, but I've no idea how to implement this in VBA code.

Macro To Lookup Many Codes

Nov 17, 2008

I have an excel workbook with two worksheets. The first worksheet contains a lot of data with more than 20.000 rows and 20 columns. The important part is that there are two different columns (column F and I) containing codes of items. What I would like the macro to do is the following:

write codes of items in the second worksheet column B under each other. I would like the macro to lookup the codes from this column in the first worksheet (column F and I) and if it finds then display in worksheet 2 column C the column in which found it on worksheet1. So basically I write on worksheet2 column B many many codes and then I press a button to do a search and displays next to the items (in column C) if it found the code in worksheet1 column F, or column I or both, or did not found it.

Displaying Automatic Dates For Lookup Based On Year Selected

Aug 3, 2014

I would like to automate a sheet to report statistics of projects based on a single cell that is the year that a user manually inserts. I've got a separate worksheet with all dates manually set up for next 10 years and would like it to be read by formulae in a reporting worksheet based on the year that user enters.

So if I specify year 2014/15 (financial year), I would like the cell C1 under "Reporting" sheet to display 1/07/14 predetermined in "Dates" B3, if I specify 2015/16, the cell C1 will read 1/07/15 from "Dates" B6 and so on.

I could do it with "IF" function but there will be too many nested IF functions in a lot of cells (hundreds if not thousands). This may make my file size very large.

Attached is a simplified example of what I mean.

Selecting Entire Date Range To Be Lookup Based On Start And End Dates

Mar 6, 2013

I have an excel sheet where I would like a user to enter a start date and end date(say Feb 1, 2013 to Feb 28,2013). And these dates will be able to change to whatever month the user wishes to look up in a specific date range(column A has 365+ dates). This post is closely related to [URL]... but I cannot figure out how to get it to work from my case.

So working off the same worksheet, I have the beginning date in AC35 and the end date in AC36 in which the user enters. I would like the dates that fall in this entire month, including the beginning and ending dates to be referenced when looking for the specific day that contains a value I have in S35.

In other words, I have data in columns A through N. The dates are in column A and S35 is a value obtained from using Max(L185:L526) where L185:L185 is manually selected each time I want a different month. I don't want this to be a manual process of scrolling down the spreadsheet to get the next month.

Lookup Code Prefix From Another Page And Autofill With Alphanumeric Sequence

Mar 24, 2014

I'm looking to populate a series of sequential codes based on a code prefix.

Sheet 1: Master Code list
Column A = Lookup Value
Column B = Code Prefix

Sheet 2 - Results page
Column A - list of lookup values - sorted in value order - The number of occurances varies for each value
Column B - Results list

I want to populate Column B in the second sheet with a sequential code list for each different value in column A. So for the first value it would have the prefix then proceed numerically (Prefix0001, Prefix0002, Prefix0003...) then for the next value its prefix in sequence (2ndPrefix0001, 2ndPrefix0002, 2ndPrefix003...), etc

I'm wondering if there is a way to do this all in one step or else if there is a way way to number each occurance of the lookup value in the second page, in which case the code can be concatenated easily by a lookup of the code.

I suppose on the back of this there is another query - is there a way to concatenate a number where the format is 000# where the concatenated value will retain the leading zeros? I've been trying and it is stripping them out.

Lookup Moving Data

Nov 9, 2006

I have a spread sheet made by a former employer, if i enter a charge code in I4 it give me a price, the fomula is =(VLOOKUP(I4,boq,4,FALSE))*H4 the 4 after boq is the row the price is in. h4 is the amount of that item I have done, the problem I have is that my client has now changed the way we charge them, if I do 1 to 5 of an item it is one price, if I do 6 to 25 its a lower price, if I do 26 to 100 it lower still. I have added the prices for 6-25 in line 5(e) and 26-100 in line 6(f), what would the formula be so vlookup looks in the line depending on the value in H4. ie if h4 = 1-5 look in line 4. if H4 = 6-25 look in line 5 & if H4 = 26-100 look in line 6.

I have in sheet1 a column "A" with random dates in this format x/x/200X.This sheet is constantly updated with new random entries as more information arrives.

So, how can I use a formula to automatically move to sheet2 "only" the rows with dates for JANUARY. I know that I can move data using e.g....=sheet1!A1, but I don't know how to use this formula with an specific condition to move the rows with JANUARY dates only.

In the attachment, you can see how I would like to move "only" the rows with JANUARY dates to sheet2.

I cannot alter the format of Main, except I can add columnsI cannot alter at all the data or format on Apt Report (I cannot sort, filter, pivot, add columns...etc)

Any way for Main to look at Apt Report and give me the earliest and latest appointment?

I have tried the DMIN function but am limited it seems to being able to change Main to accommodate it. I have tried an array with MIN(If but ran into issues with the cells on Apt Report that are blank...it would return those as the earliest appointment....albeit it is correct...but not what I need!!!

The Apt Report will continually be updated to, so I need to be able to search the entire Apt Date column.

Add Numbers Based On Duplicate Codes Only

I got some functions from some of you to spot duplicate bar codes

the first function was this =IF(ISERROR(MATCH(D5;$D6:D$65536;0));"";D5)
the second next to it this =COUNTIF($D:$D;$D5)
and the third: =IF(COUNTIF(D:D;D5)>1;"DUPLICATE";"")

well fine but now I dlike to add the numbers of the 2 cells of those duplicate codes. In some cases I have more than 2 identical bar codes.

Add To Dates Based On Criteria & Flag Overdue Dates

Dec 31, 2006

I have a very large Excel spreadsheet that is generated through an Oracle application at least once a month at work. I would like some code (either a worksheet function or a VBA) to check and report the following. If the frequency in column C is "Monthly" or "Weekly" just go to the next row. If the frequency in column C is "Annual", add 183 days to the date in column B; if it is "Semi-Annual", add 92 days to date in column B; if it is "Quarterly" , add 46 days to the date in column B; if the frequency in column C is "2-Year", add 365 days to the date in column B. Once the check has been made; I need the new total or date that was calculated checked against the date the report is being run (system clock date). If the date or total days is less than today, a new worksheet, titled "Late" needs to contain that row of data. If the date or total days is greater than today's date, just go on to the next row. I've attached an example worksheet.

Lookup Value If Between Two Dates?

Looking for a formula in excel, was thinking of an IF with AND or VLOOKUP?? I have a database in Excel that has

A B C
1 9/1/988/31/00RED
2 9/1/008/31/02BLUE
3 9/1/028/31/04GREEN
4 9/1/048/31/06YELLOW

What formula would I use to take a Date (lets say its located in A8) and look up if it is BETWEEN the dates in column A and B above that it would give the result of column C

Examples
A8 = 11/07/99 would give the result of RED
A8 = 03/02/03 would give the result of GREEN

Moving Data Based On Constant

I have a list of data which which has repeated supplier numbers in column A. For instance

A123
A123
A123
X456
x456
x456
x456

The information in other 13 columns is variable and I need to be able to move all the rows which start with the first supplier number to another sheet which I will rename to that name, then move the second set of supplier numbers to a second sheet etc. So in my above mini example I would have one sheet named A123 with 3 rows of data and another sheet named X456 with 4 rows of data.

The number of supplier codes will be different every day and the number of rows within each supplier number will also vary. Each new datafile that comes in daily creates a new file do I do not have to worry about existing values only what the current file contains. I have used the following code to move data based on a known constant before but dont know how to tell the macro "move all the data while the value stays the same"

Sub DiffOrderNo()
Dim totalrows As Long, row As Long
Cells.Sort Key1:=Range("A1")
totalrows = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count

My average should be 31 but I am getting 33.

This is the formula I am using :

I have tried using different Counta and ISnumber still not working

I would rather use a formulas then VB code.
