I am doing a "text to columns" in a VBA script and each time it runs I get a "Do you wnat to replace contents of the destination cells" prompt. I will always say yes to this prompt. Is there something I can put into the code to avoid this prompt all together, again the answer will always be yes to the prompt.
I have been using this code below to replace any blank cells with the number 0 but recently I have encountered an error if the format of the cell is a string.
I have a monthly report with over 2,000 entries per column and it is dynamic (number changes monthly). I'm trying to replace individual department names with "department" but keep certain ones the same. For instance- A,B,C,D stay the same but E-Z need to be changed to "department". I first coded an If then macro but was unable to get it to loop and after researching looping realized that it may not be the best option especially with large datasets. Is an advanced filter macro the best option where I filter NOT A,B,C,D and then change the results to department?
I am trying to write a macro (preferrably within exsting file) that will
A: change file name to specific cell input ( date, got that working) B: change directory on server to place renamed file in a "Past Production Folder" (Keeps saving on my hard drive) C: Open a different folder to retrieve a blank copy D: Change back to main directory to save blank copy E: Make workbook shared
Gotta get this working quick, program needs to replace for new week production.
We have a report with 2 different sheets. On sheet one there are 13,000 rows of data and columns A-H are filled with different data. column A is our item id and column G has a date that states when the item was sold last. Well, the date in column G is wrong for about 7800 rows and needs changed.
The second sheet in the file is the 7800 rows with just the item id in column A and the correct date in column B. We are looking for an easy way to replace the rows in the first sheet with the correct information from the rows in the second sheet without manually replacing it line by line.
I almost forgot to add in, that in both sheets, column A with the item ids are the same item ids on both those sheets. So column A on sheet one has 13000 rows and included in those 13000 are the 7800 item ids on sheet 2.
We tried using the VLookup function that is incorporated into excel but had absolutly no luck, mostly because we have never used this function before. Sheet one already has all the lines of sheet 2, its just that sheet one has the wrong dates for the item ids and sheet 2 has the correct dates. im trying to replace the dates on sheet one from the dates on sheet 2 matching on the item ids from both sheets......
need to add same data to every other existing cell in the column, but not replace the data already in it, but to add to it. I've tried to google the answer and look here, but I probably use bad search terms.
For example, I need to add "QW" after each of these lines:
data1432 data9292 data3933 data3939
so it would look like this:
data1432QW data9292QW data3933QW data3939QW
I have a few thousand rows of data, so wouldn't rather not do it manually cell by cell by typing :-)
I've got a lovely little spreadsheet which looks like a more complicated version of this:
CaseResult1Pass2Fail3N/A4Pass (mark-ups)5Pass
I have conditional formatting on each cell of column A (titled Case) which looks at the next door cell in column B (titled Result), and if it turns out Pass, it colours the cell in A green. If it's fail, it colours the cell red, and so on.
So my spreadsheet, after formatting, looks like this:
CaseResult1Pass2Fail3N/A4Pass (mark-ups)5Pass
However, with the "Pass (mark-ups)" option, I've run out of conditions allowed (since I'm on 2003 excel). I can colour it in the same colour as other conditions, using the OR function, but I'd rather have it a separate colour.
I've got this macro here (which I've picked off the internet somewhere):
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim icolor As Integer If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A1:A5000")) Is Nothing Then Select Case Target Case "Passed" icolor = 4
I'm making a vba macro that takes a workbook and splits and saves it as individual sheets. In this process I need to find all the referenced cells (ie =E5) and change them to their text or numeric value. A few things I've found on the form and tired with no success:
Selection is a column selected from the top to the last used cell (I know there is only 4 columns that have references)
I'm trying to use the Worksheet_Change event to replace all cleared cells with a default formula. This allows users to override the default, or restore the default when they need to:
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("Data")) Is Nothing And Target.Value = "" Then Range("DefaultFormula").Copy ActiveSheet.Paste ActiveSheet.Application.CutCopyMode = False End If
Here are the results with various different regions selected:
Single cell selected and cleared -- works. Multiple cells selected and cleared -- doesn't work if the first area selected contains more than one cell. Otherwise, it works, no matter how many other areas are selected.
Example1: Selected range is (D2:E2, G2) in that order, it does not copy the formula into the cleared cells. Example2: Selected range is (G2, D2:E2) in that order, the code does copy the formula into all the cleared cells as desired.
The "IF" condition is not TRUE when the initial area has more than one cell.
I have set up a spreadsheet with a drop down box. Which says "Show All", "Show Pending" and "Show Completed" This is in Cell H7
Below that I have a table of information from A10 to I1200. These are a list of jobs
In column I is the date the job was completed, if it has a date the job is done, if it has no date its still pending. I wanted a macro that meant if you click on Show all, all jobs show, if you click on Show Completed on the jobs with a date in column I show and if you select Show pendning only the jobs without a date show
I did try this by recording a macro but failed miserably
I have exported a report to Excel from a BI tool called ZAP.
Unfortunately the cells in the columns are merged by group eg. salesperson, product, country.
I need to be able to filter by each of the columns - the only way i can think of is to unmerge and copy the information to the rest of the "merge area".
This will be extremely time consuming as there are more than 1000 rows and at least 5 columns that I want to filter.

I have created a macro to filter results from a set of data, paste that data to a new file, and then create charts based on that data. Right now, my macro is basically multiplied 20 times to do this for each heading. Is there a way to create a loop that will just redo the same macro but for the next data heading? Here is a sample of the first part of the macro:
I have a macro that turns off filtering option when it runs. What I want is for to first warn the user that rows have been filtered and the Macro will not run, then once the filters are switch off, the macro will run. It does the last bit at the moment but switches off the filtering of protected cells and once the macro has run the sheet can no longer be filtered .
Sub NewRowSQT() Dim ans As String ans = MsgBox("Ensure you have selected a cell in column B immediately below the section you wish to add to or the Macro will FAIL!", vbYesNo)
I have a very large spreadsheet that is run by a different department. Regularly, I need to go into it do the following:
-filter the sheet by the information in one particular column - - the column is always the same but the number within it by which I filter changes as needed -double-click each column to autofit the columns -go to the page break preview to make the document fit one page -print the results.
My question is can I automate this somehow with a macro or something else?
Learn about the "copy only visible cells" when I've filtered down a filter. Now Excel copies that way by default everytime I copy multiple rows when I've filtered. But NOW I want to copy everything that is hidden between the filter as well, i.e. how it did it before.
I have a column that contains combined data of numbers and letters. I want to filter that column to exclude cells that contain the letter "d" or "f". I am trying to create a pivot table from the results of the filter to only display the ID #s that do not contain the letters "f" or "d".
The data inside the fields is not the same length and is not listed in a particular order. I have over 14,000 records I need to filter.
Data set example: The items in red are an example of the cells I would like to exclude from my worksheet. Is there a way to filter without deleting the data?
I have a spreadsheet where I need to lock certain cells, only problem is this then takes away the ability to filter the columns which I also still need in that spreadsheet.
Is there a way to lock cells so that they can not be edited but also keep the filtering function?
I am currently writing a macro that does a variety of things, one of these being that it automatically sums up columns I,J and K. The dilemma I have is that I need to be able to see the sum of the data in a cell at the bottom of the column, after manually filtering it according to what I want to see.
How would I fix my formulas from not working when I filter other columns? It is a simple =A1/A3 cell and this calculation is down the full column. When I filter any column, the calculation does not stay with the assigned cells.
Background: I am HR manager for a construction company & keeper of the call-in list of personnel who are looking for work. I have a simple sheet that has columns:
Date Name Craft Experience ...more info...
If each call-in had only one craft, wouldn't have a problem. Those who are multicrafted ar listed e.g. "EL, MW, BM" In the column C. A caller two days later may be listed as "MW, BM, EL" We input the data as they say it since that is usually their order of expertise. (Yes, I know that it should have been set up with each craft having its own column, but I inherited the sheet & it has 4000+ entries)
I wrote a couple of small macros & assigned buttons on the sheet to allow the users to sort the sheet by date, or name, or craft. My customers (project managers) have requested to be able to sort by craft but have all the folks with any specific craft listed together.
You can see there that some inserted object (in this case, PDF files shown as icons), are moved. I need to find a way to immobilize every inserted object within each cell boundaries. I want to freely sort or filter and avoid this kind of problem that gets worse with more rows, columns and inserted objects.
I have the following macro so that we can use the outline feature without having to unprotect a sheet.
Private Sub Workbook_Open() With Worksheets("Schedule") .Protect Password:="APQP", Userinterfaceonly:=True[code]....
However once the macro is run, filtering will not work without unprotecting the sheet first. If you choose not to run the macro, filtering will work without unprotecting the sheet however the outline feature will not. what I need to add and where to make both the outline and filter features to work without having to unptotect the sheet?
I'm trying to write a macro that filters a table via textbox (criteria), specifying the column to filter through a combobox. I managed to get it to work with every format (date, text, etc.) except with numbers. I'm attaching the file so you can take a look at the code.
If I have a column containing numbers but the cells have text format and I reformat those cells to numbers (using points to separate thousands [I'm from Venezuela, we use dots, not commas]) the results aren't visible unless I modify each cell individually. How can I avoid this?
Lastly, I'm using a macro that I found online that sets invisible shapes on each cell of the header and asigns another macro to these shapes to sort by ascending or descending order in the column over which the shape is put. I made some changes to the macro that actually sorts the values and it works fine, but sometimes I have to resize the shape (on the left side) so that it's further inside the cell or else I'll get an error.
EDIT: It doesn't work with dates either!
EDIT2: I tried copying the table and the codes to a new workbook and now magically it works with numbers, but still not working for dates. Also I'm still having to resize the invisible shape (only in header of the first column ('C')) and the changes in format still aren't visible unless I modify each cell. I think this last issue has something to do with 'SortOneTime' macro or the 'Ordenar' macro because it happens after I run them.
I have a pivot chart, filtering data from a pivot table, the problem I've got stuck is that every time I filter the chart the colors and weights of the chart change to default values, not what I want, I've managed to every time I click on the pvt cht tab it updates with the colors and weights I want, but when filtering I don't know how to do.
I am my excel worksheet (excel 2010) I have one cell that changes every day (number). I want this number to open my htm document and replace the same number in a string in the htm and save/close this.
An example: My htm document is located at C:/ and named XX.htm
The number I want from excel is in cell A1 in sheet1, and the worksheet is located in D:/ named yy.xlsx
And the text(number) I want to replace is in the following string in the htm document, in this string it is 72, next day it can be 30:
Custid loc city 123 us newyork 124 uk wales 876 in mumbai Sheet 2 custid newcustomerid 123 756 124 394
Outputsheet: Custid loc city 756 us newyork 394 uk wales 876 in mumbai
So it will check sheet1 custid with sheet2 custid. If both matches it will replace custid with newcustid.if cust id not exists it will load sheet1 recprds as usual.
