Problem is the PO no and the item no must match so in order to RETURN the sales order no in wk. 13 worksheet. I had the data in wk. 11 highlight in yellow but turn up error.
I am having some trouble getting a formula to work. I am building a report that pulls figures from a pivot table in another workbook. I am using a vlookup with match function to get the column index to find the relevant data I want. Where I need to add two columns together I am using sum, with the vlookup & match formulas nested in them e.g.:
=SUM(VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("FAID",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("COMM",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("BPCM",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("COMD",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE))
Where:
F13 = Employee number
Column C on the pivot 156 workbook is where the employee number is based.
The Match formula is then getting the column index from the column headings of the pivot table ie. "FAID"
This in itself works fine, as long as it finds a match in the column headings. This is where i get the error as in the above function "COMD" is not in the pivot table. However I need to keep it included as it may appear on a future pivot table. Is there a way of getting the sum function to complete even though later in the formula it can't complete the vlookup? So it will ignore it, or assume the value is zero if it can't find it? The formula probably needs to do this for all the vlookups as some headings may drop off in future pivot tables.
the if stattement works perfectly and does exactly what i want except when it comes to the else part. if there is no error the statements are run perfectly but if there is an error (in this case the error is generated when a match cannot be found in the spreadsheet) the else statement doesnt kick in and post the msgbox.
the code just crashes. and returns an error 1004 on the line i have highlighted in yellow
res = WorksheetFunction.Match(invvar, Columns(1), 0)
If Not IsError(res) Then
Me.txtClientID.Value = ws13. Cells(res, 7)
Me.txtNumber.Value = ws13.Cells(res, 7)
Me.txtDate.Value = ws13.Cells(res, 8)

What im trying to do is match columns A & B from AUDIT Sheet to Columns A & B in MASTER sheet. If they match then pull columns C, D & E from MASTER into AUDIT.
Basically where the columns say 2011 or 2012 AND 1, 2, 3. I want to be able to have it index the number below based on the GL number on the left and both the year and period on the top. I think that you can do with using the sumproduct function with the binary, but the computer is a little dated and it takes a while to run those calculations.

I've been searching the forums for this problem but I can't seem to find any answers. Anyway, this is the problem. See screenshot.
I want to compare A1 for the values in column B, then return the corresponding cell (column C) in column D.
e.g. D1 = 2, D2 = 1, D3 = 4, D4 = 5 and D5 = 3.
I am having a little trouble with tying an index/match formula that would probably require an "if" portion to the formula as well.
If you take a look at the attachment, I'm trying to match column "G" to column "L" and then use the appropriate price according to the specified piece count in column "H" based on the table to the right.
Why I am getting N/A errors in sheet 1 of workbook?
For example, in sheet1, Cell B2 should equal 3. And it should stretch across the entire data range, so even something like B14 should return 3.
In the help file for MATCH it says:
If MATCH is unsuccessful in finding a match, it returns the #N/A error value.
So I am trying in vain to capture the error, but can't see where I am going wrong.
I am using Vlookup to search for a text string in column A and storing the value of column B for more than 40 variables.
I do NOT want a macro error on Vlookup each time it can not find a match. I want to store an "error message" in that variable and move on.
countif and a rountine handler sounds like a lot of coding for each variable; can I use ISNA?
SAMPLE
Sheets("CPARS download").Select 'CPARS DOWNLOAD
RFQnum = Strings.Mid(WorksheetFunction.VLookup("RFQ Number", _
Range("CPARSdata"), 2, 0), 1, 13) 'RFQ# should be same for each supplier
' RFQnum = Mid(RFQnum, 1, 13) 'truncate the supplier code at the end
BidDue = WorksheetFunction.VLookup("Bid Due Date", Range("CPARSdata"), 2, 0)...........
I have the following formula
=INDEX($E$5:$E$228;MATCH(E5;'[New Microsoft Excel Worksheet.xls]Sheet1'!$D$2:$E$4347;0);1)
I want it to make a left lookup and I get the error #N/A
i have a table and i want search my table with index match
my index match works but when the data is not in my table i get error #N/A (#n/b)
how should i get rid of this error?
Currently I am using an index matching function as shown below as I am looking up based on multiple (2) criteria. However for some instances I know that there will be 2 or even 3 possible outcomes that this formula could return. Despite the fact that each of these values is exactly the same, the function returns an error, which I am assuming is because it found multiple solutions.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a situation in which I want to SUM several costs in separate columns according to the date to which they correspond.
(see attached sheet with dummy example)
eg: any cost falling on April 3, sum them and give the total amount.
I can achieve this using iterations of the following formula:
why i get this error on
myTimeToCheck = (cHour & "." & cMinute)
myColCheck = Application.WorksheetFunction.Match(myTimeToCheck, Worksheets("Sheet3").Range("A2:A87"), 0)
MsgBox (myColCheck)
it says "Unable to get the Match property of the WorksheetFunction class"
myColCheck contains 17.50 and i have 17.50 in the column A
I have a formula
=INDEX(Wholesales!A:C,MATCH(Data!A2,Wholesales!A:A,),MATCH(C2,Wholesales!B:B,))
Now this returns the correct value for the first row only, then after that I get the famous #REF! error. Any ideas why it only works for the first row?
Asking for a row value to be returned if a string is found to exist in the sheet. Works great if it finds the value but I get the following error when the string isn't found:
Run Time Error '91':
Object Variable or With block variable not set.
Concept code follows. The commented strOCNumOF line contains the value that's found on the sheet. The uncommented line contains a value not found.
Sub find_test1()
Dim intFoundOnCur As Integer
Dim strOCNumOF As String
strOCNumOF = "AP4506"
'strOCNumOF = "BP6020"
intFoundOnCur = ThisWorkbook.ActiveSheet. Cells.Find(What:=strOCNumOF, SearchDirection:=xlPrevious, SearchOrder:=xlByRows).Row
End Sub
I want to compare two columns. I would like to see if the contents of column B appear anywhere in column A, for any amount of rows, and if it does, to place the match in col C.
So in the example below, red in B1 would be checked in A1 through A1000 or however long A is. When any row has red, place that match in that row for C.
This would be repeated until all rows in B are complete.
Example
Col A: red
Col B: red
Col C: red
Col A: red
Col B: blue
Col C: not found
If lookup doesn't find a match in the first column, can I get it to return an
"ERR" or "0", something that would let me know there was no match? Right now
it returns the value in the second column of the closest value.
VB:
Range("a1:n" & row_end).AutoFilter 13, "ABC"
If the value "ABC" not found in table, it shows error msg, In my file data="ABC" avail, sometimes not.
I'm getting an N/A error on my MATCH formula.
I'm trying to match a cell reference, rather than a specific text or value.
Here is the syntax I used. MATCH(Cell,Table Array Name, 0)
I have made sure that the text matches exactly and the cell formats are the same.
I am trying to used match function in the code but I am getting the following error:

I am wanting to return a boolean result for if a multi-condition match is found. In pseudocode, I want to basically determine if the value in Column D, G, and H on worksheet 1 for a given row is repeated in Columns A, B, and C on worksheet 2 in any row. I have all variables properly dimmed.
I am building a timeclock, and am using a user form to allow people to sign in/out.
I have a punch in form that logs the inputed username and password (after being checked against my employee list), along with a count of their username on this sheet (as a count of how many times they have punched in) and a timestamp (column 4). These values are all pasted to the first blank row in my worksheet "PunchInTimes".
Then, I have a punch out button that logs these same values the same way, only on "PunchOutTimes". Then, the idea is to link the index number of the PunchOutTimes record and PunchInTimes record for any given user, so that when they punch out, a complete record is pasted (to the first blank row) in a separate worksheet called "Timesheets".
I have been able to paste the username and count to the "Timesheets" sheet, however as soon as I try to index/match the count and inputed username (on the punch out form), I get an error 13 type mismatch.
I'm trying to paste the corresponding punch in time to this punch out time, so ive used an index/match with two columns (username and count) found in "PunchInTimes", and try to return the corresponding 4th column value (punch in time). After pasting the "punch out only" values to the PunchOutTimes, i used a "With/End With" statement, and set wsc equal to my 'timesheets' worksheet at the beginning of my code. So the line where I get my error is below in bold:

I am trying to get excel to search a workbook/(or worksheet if easier) for a matching unique value and fill in its associated data. My first workbook has the SKU (A) filled in but not the UPC (B). My second workbook has both the SKU (A) and the matching UPC (C) filled in.
I need to take both workbooks/(worksheets), compare the SKUs, and if a matching SKU is found, extract the UPC from Workbook 2 and fill in the UPC field in Workbook 1, and if no UPC is present in Workbook 2, then it leaves the cell in Workbook 1 blank.
I needed to match the width a merged area of seven columns to a single column width (for row autofitting). Adding the column unit values and setting the single column to that value produced a significantly narrower width.
The documentation mentions that the column width unit is scaled to the font type and size and the absolute width is given in points.
This is set by the normal style setting in Excel Options or by VBA application.standardfontsize = 8 (in this case).
For instance, ten columns of Arial font 8 at 8.5 units you would think to be equivalent to a single column of 85 units.
In points, the difference is 420 vs. 386.25, or 33.75 points.
Well, the standard character zero has a width at this setting of 4.5 points and 1 unit is 8.25 points, leaving 3.75 points for margins.
Then (10-1) margins allowances time 3.75 points resolves the difference.
Determining the margin allowances is straightforward, and reveals that the gradation with size is stepped by MS design.
For instance, sizes up to 11 use 3.75 points for margins and increasing points for characters (except between 9 & 10).
Sizes 12 through 18 use 5.25 points, 20 & 22 use 6.75, 24 & 26 use 8.25, etc.
I have created a table for this purpose, however I rarely use a "normal" other than 8, so I can probably use that set in programming.
I am trying to use a nested INDEX and MATCH array formula to return the value in column C when matching column A and column B, but with a few more criteria.
The range containing all the data
A
B
C
1
Cat 1
January 1, 2014
John
[Code] ..........
I am looking for the array formula to return the name of the person in column C who is in Cat 1 after the date in column B.
For example;
C7 should return "John" because B7 requests "January 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C8 should return "John" because B8 requests "February 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C9 should return "Andrew" because B9 requests "August 15, 2014", which is after the value in B4
The best try I had for the formula in C7 was
{(INDEX($A$1:$C$4,MATCH(1,($B$1:$B$4>=B7)*(A$1:$A$4=A7),0),3))}
This brings back "John" as desired in C7, but when copying down the table into C8 and C9 both C8 and C9 return Andrew.
I guess this is due to my ">=" condition in the Match formula and it is returning "Andrew" because "Andrew" is also after the date requested, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to get it to work.
I need to look up the name in E2 in the list in column A and if it matches then lookup name in F2 in list column b, if it matches then the corresponding number in column C is displayed in column G. If neither names are in the 2 columns the words"Not on lists" is displayed in cell in column G.
The other problem is one name is spelled two different ways I want it to look for both spelling before moving on to looking up the second name.
I started with this formula but I'm getting #N/A or "not on list" when they are on the list. I'm using ranges prod_sum is columns AthruC, Last_name is range BthruC. =IF(AND(VLOOKUP(F4,prod_sum,3,0),VLOOKUP(I4,last_name,2,0)),"not on list")
Here's what I have.. (on a much smaller scale)
