Maximum Number Of Conditional Format Rules

Is it possible to apply a Conditional Format to the MAX Value in each Column and color the appropriate Name in ONE SHOT !? What I mean is - selecting range A2:D9 and applying a C.F. I managed to achieve that by applying two different Conditional Formats. Three separate conditions for Col. A and one condition for the remaining 3 columns (B,C,D).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two columns of data. The first column is the 'type' and the second column is the 'value'. I need to find the maximum 'value' for each individual 'type'
The 'types' are not necessarily next to each other and the data cannot be sorted to do so.
Example:
type value
A 15
B 6
A 21
C 7
B 13
I need to be able to say the MAX for 'A' is 21, the MAX for 'B' is 13 and the MAX for 'C' is 7.
how to display the current set of conditional formatting? I don't want to go to the cells I want a listing of all the conditional formatting rules. I am sure I have seen this somewhere in the past but cannot locate it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two conditional formatting rules that work independently, but I am looking to combine them into 1 rule, making (2) subject to (1) when (1) is true
(1) =$B3:$B6="y"
(2) =AND(COUNTIF(K$3:K$6,MIN(K$3:K$6))=1,K3=MIN(K$3:K$6))
I was hoping that my formula would give me the count number based on the Maximum time (latest time) and the Name field...My result is a 0 instead of 62 (the correct answer).
=SUM((Download!$H$2:$H$10=A4)*(Download!$D$2:$D$10=MAX(IF(Download!$H$2:$H$10=$A4,Download!$D$2:$D$1 0)))*Download!$I$2:$I$10)
Would a Index/Match/MAX function be more efficient?
I have a spreadsheet with many rows of data. I want to be able to see the last month or so of data (each day is one row), but I do not want to have to scroll to the bottom of the worksheet to see the recent data, so I want to reverse the data - I want Row 1 to be my column headers, and for every new day I want to insert a new row at Row 2 and add my data. However, when I do that, my conditional formatting gets all messed up. Once the new row is added, the formatting rule changes its range to only those rows which had data in them before I did the insert, each new row gets a separate but identical rule that applies only to itself, and the headers row gets its own rule.
That seems incredibly stupid to me. Is there a way I prevent the formatting rules from changing and just stay the way they are which applies to the entire column?
How do I create 3 color conditional formatting formulas for the following rules?:
if today is 15 days or greater before the day in the cell then green
if today is between 14 and 7 days before the day in the cell then yellow
if today is within 6 days to zero days before the day in the cell then results
anything is clear

I'm having to successfully add three conditional formatting rules, and associated cell interior colour formats if any of the rules are met.
Each time I run my macro, I want to refresh every cell, within a defined range within a Col P, with these rules.
So far, I can add the three rules to each cell, but when I try and add the format colour - for when a rule is met - I keep getting a 'Subscript out of range error'.
(As an aside, is my For / Next loop approach the best one to take to add the formatting to each cell, or can it be written much simpler?)
Here's my script:
VB:
Dim Col_P As Range
Dim Cell_in_ColP As Long
'Set up range of cells to add conditional formatting rules to
Set Col_P = Worksheets("tRIIO Pack Notices").Cells(2, 16).Resize(Lrow - 1)
[Code] ......
I am trying to create a number format for formatting resistor value in their most commonly displayed form. For example 1,200 ohms would be displayed as 1.2kÙ and 5,000,000 ohms would be displayed as 5MÙ, and finally 5 ohms would be displayed as 5Ù. I have been able to create a format that formats any 2 contiguous formats but not all three.
for example: [>999999]###.0,,ÌÙ;[<1000000]###.0,kÙ;
or: [>999]###.0,kÙ;[<1000]###Ù
both work.(other similar criteria work as well) But if I try to put 3 conditions describing the desired formatting I get and error (containing no useful info) as I try to close the formatting dialog. Is there a limit to the number of conditions that can be used. Or something else I'm overlooking.
I have a spreadsheet where I have certain cells that contain a link to copy a number from another tab in the spreadsheet.
At times, I have to plug in a number to try certain values. In doing this, I overwrite the link or formula. I then do an 'undo' to bring it back to the original link or formula.
I would like to put a conditional format based on the cell's content. If it is the formula, leave it as is. If it is overwritten by a number, I want it to change colors to remind me to undo my change when I am done.
The conditional formatting options I have found so far allow me to format according the the value in the cell but not the nature of it's content: number of formula.
I want to know if there is any way to highlight a cell that does not contain a whole number. In my spreadsheet I have a formula that calculates the number of packages in an order, but if the result is not a whole number then I want it to be highlighted.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan I use conditional formatting to determine if a number in a cell is displayed as a normal decimal or scientific?
So a number of 1000 or above will be changed to scientific notation with 4 significant figures.
The conditional formatting just seems to be about colour/shading/icons
I have got following numbers data and I want any number between the ranges repeat again or dupliacated it would highlighted as mentioned
ABC1Start RangeEnd RangeQty221002199100323002349504250025252652710271910621102299190729092929218234823492
As you can see yellow highlighted Ranges between the ranges are repeated again or duplicated that is why they are highlighted
I have started to use excel again because I need to create a spreadsheet for maintenance hours done on a vessel. The problem I have right now is, how to set a rule to allow only certain multiple of a particular number to appear. For example,
I have a initial cell value where I have to manually insert the total number of hours that have gone by in the vessel. Let us say that this value is 500 hours.
In another cell which is labeled, "Last Completed", it would have to read at how many hours this job was last completed.
I also have another cell which gives you the time interval before the job is performed again. This value is 250.
So if the current number of hours is 500, the last completed date should be 250. (assuming Maintenance was done at 0 hours and 250 hours).
How do I make it so that the "Last Completed" cell would read 250 until I hit 750 hours which at that point should read 500 Hours.
how to apply conditional formatting via VBA to a range of cells based on input from another range of cells. Obviously this would be easy in Excel 2010, but I'm still using 2003 at the office and it needs to stay in this format to be readable by other users:
For cells M8:EK8, my conditional formatting
condition 2: Formula Is =AND($E$8>=M2,(($E$8-$D$8)>=(N2-$M$2))), color index is 40
condition 3: Formula Is =AND($F$8<=M2,$G$8>=M2), color index is 39
I want to add:
condition 4: Formula Is =AND($H$8<=M2,$I$8>=M2), color index is 40
condition 5: Formula Is =AND($J$8<=M2,$K$8>=M2), color index is 39
and so on
The cells in the range M8:EK8 are blank, they only get colored based on input added to D8 to K8. If there is no input, then the cells should be uncolored.

I would like to change the number format of a cell in function of the value of another cell. For example, if A1=1, then I would like the cell A2 to be displayed as a percentage. If A1=2, then would like the cell A2 to be displayed as a number.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Excel 2003, I have a series of complex(ish) lookups which populate cells in Sheet 1 from other sheets in the same workbook. Some of these cells are %ges some are not, I need to display the resultant sheet values as %ges or not based on if the cell to the left (also populated by a complex(ish) lookup) contains the character "%".
I cannot just format the cell on its own, as the list in itself is volatile and can change according to the complex(ish) lookup,
The main problem with this is I need the result to be a numeric value and NOT text in ALL cases as further calculations will be undertaken on them.
In simple if it is a %ge I need to see the %ge and use it as a %ge or if it is just a number see it as a number and use it as a number.
e.g
A B Result Req
Satisfaction with telephone access (%) 0.900032390.0%
Ability to see boss within 48 hours () 0.889 0.889
I'm looking to conditional format a cell/cells based on whether a formula result returns a whole number or not.
I don't want to include the formula in the sheet itself, just have that as the formula in the condition.
The formula will be along the lines of:
=IF(SUM(BB10/BA10)"a whole number",TRUE,FALSE)
My problem is, is that I don't know who to refer to "a whole number" in Excel formula language.
I have used Formula to ID cells containing a formula to flag cells red with conditional formatting in a list that do not have formula.
I need a single cell to change colour if any of the cells in the list do not have a formula. e.g. the subtotal in the top row could go red so the user can scroll down to find individual red cells.
Is there a way to count the red cells without formula in the list - Conditionally formatted cells are hard to count. I don't want to use a vba script to do it as the user probably won't run it and auto run slow calculations down.
Is there an array formula that can return true or false if not(CellHasFormula) is true anywhere in the list?
countif(AH1:AH2976,CellHasFormula) doesn't work.
I have a large spreadsheet which includes many rows whose number format needs to change depending on the value of a specific cell.
So for example:
If cell B20 has value "A", cells Q20:AG20 should display as 1,234
If cell B20 has value "B", cells Q20:AG20 should display as 5.6%
If cell B20 has value "C", cells Q20:AG20 should display as 7.89
Etc...
As conditional formatting does not seem to include a number format option I've worked out that I need some sort of macro to change these settings for me, either automatically whenever the value of B20 changes or, more likely, when I manually choose to run the macro.
I am looking for a method to conditionally format a variable number of cells below a single cell into which data is entered.
For example ABC = 6, DEF = 12. Therefore, if I enter ABC into D1 then D1:D6 should be conditionally formatted.
In cell BI38 I have a function which counts the number of F's in the range AN38:AY38. I want the cell AM38 to turn blue if the value in BI38 >=3. Is there a simple way to do this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn the attached excel sheet, i am trying to find conditional maximum of a set of numbers. In Cell C3, I have the formula =MAX(($S$4:$S$500=$W$4)*(M4:M500)) entered as array function and is working fine. In Cell J3, I have the similar formula MAX(($S$4:$S$500=$W$4)*(J4:J500)) entered as array function.. This is not working...always gives zero. The difference between Range (m4:m500) and (j4:j500) is that, m4:m500 are all positive numbers and j4:j500 are negative.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a column of numbers and want to make sure everything has been entered correctly from our scanning software. Basically, I want to automatically highlight any cell that has any letter in it (e.g. z12o2 instead of 21202 or R705 instead of 5705), ignoring any cells that contain only numbers. I haven't had any luck using conditions based on formulas like =ISTEXT.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sheet ( Named "Summary" for Example ) of about 4,000 Rows that has a LOT of Conditional Formatting.
I Added Another 100 Rows this Morning and when I Tried Saving it a Message Saying that Not All the Formatting for the New Data that had Been Added had Been Saved. Is there a Macro or Something I can Run that will Make the Conditionally Formatted Cells Stay the Colour that they are but Delete the Conditional Formatting Part of it Achieved Using "Format" & "Conditional Format" from the Menu Please.
Ideally I would like to be Able to Enter the Number of Rows ( From Row ? to Row ? ) that I want this to Apply to.
I am using Excel 2003 and have a spreadsheet that lists 1521 fonts. I am using VBA and looping through the list of font names in column 1 and want to put an example of the font in column 2. I am trapping for error 1004 and using Resume Next. This works fine for 480 lines and then it just stops working. No error message or anything. The only thing I could think of is there might be a maximum number of fonts allowed per spreadsheete, but I would have though I would get an error.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have five fields that have a conditional format applied to them: (see attached).
Columns J, K, L, N and O. These conditionals highlight if a minimum number is entered. Ex. Minimum pushups for a 30 y/o male is 27, if a 26 is entered it highlights red. The total score (where I need this to perform) is calculated in column Q. It will format red if the total score is below 75 but what I can't figure out is how to make it format if any of the previous minimums have not been met.
Ex. In cell L4, his crunches were 25 (a automatic failure -- red formatting). Now the total score is above 75 so it calculates as passing (green), but I need it to highlight red regardless because of the minimum not met in cell L4.
I have a range which has conditional formats based on other cells. I want to copy this range into another sheet and retain the current formats as fixed formats without copying the conditional formulae. ideally in VBA.

If AI3=D3 & D3 is red, format AI3 blue
Otherwise, leave AI3 unformatted.
