On loading a VBA rich Excel file into my new Macbook pro, I get the error " Microsoft forms" followed by "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine".
Hence the sheet I open is missing all of the functionality.
I learn that VBA objects are not well supported on Macs. It works fine on Windows.
So I'm creating a grid worksheet for engineering calculations and I have a couple questions about the best way to do it. I've been messing with excel for my calcs for about a decade now, and I every once in a while I try and improve them.
First: I will have several input areas that will either be colored text or shaded background (either works for me). I don't want these 'input required' objects to print as color, just black. But I want my logo at the sheet top to print as color. I've only found ways to not print any color. Can I print the logo as color and the 'input required' stuff as black?
Second: When I do calcs by hand, I write them out on 10x10 grid paper. Each 10x10 grid is one inch. In the past I've created this grid out of the cells, which works. I frequently need to change formulas around though, and each time I do this, I end up needing to mess with the grid cells also. Is there a way to create the grid and have it in the background so it doesn't need to be adjusted each time I change formulas? I wan't the grids to print, and also want to see them on the screen, as I sometimes draw simple objects along with the formulas.
I would like to convert them to AppleScript so I can use them in Excel 2008.
From what I understand I should be able to do this with AppleScript, but I have never used it before and have absolutely no idea what I am doing.
Not only do I need to know how to convert the VBA to AppleScript, I need to know what to do to make it run in Script Editor, etc.
There are two VBA Macros, each is to highlight a specified cell range, then turn on cell protection.
It is my understanding that although I couldn't record this into my VBA Macro, AppleScript will also let me unprotect the worksheet at the beginning of the script, and then re-protect it at the end of the script.
I have a table and I want to find out the what is max number for Apple sold on Monday.

I have 2 excel workbooks - each containing one table.I have 1 Powerpoint Prtesentation with OLE Links to the 2 tables.
All I want is for any update in the excel tables to show in the running PP Presentation. The annoying part is when I set up the linked objects, everything works perfectly and any changes in the excel files update real time in the PP presentation.
As soon as I close the excel file and reopen though, from thereon in I have to update the links manually.
Things I have tried:
A PP Add in called "Update Links" which updated the OLE links on every rotaion of the show. This would be a fine workaround if it didn't stop the slideshow if/whenever someone was updating one of the source files with the "file is already open..." message...So set both source files to shared as PP will only be reading the data anyway. Still the error appears.Inserting some code into PP:
Code:
Sub linkupdate() Dim osld As Slide Dim oshp As Shape For Each osld In ActivePresentation.Slides For Each oshp In osld.Shapes If oshp.Type = msoLinkedOLEObject Then oshp.LinkFormat.Update Next oshp Next osld End Sub
All I want to do is update the links without stopping the slideshow. I have tried numerous PP approaches, but maybe there is an Excel solution that will update links automatically on each save.
I have a big macro that runs in everyone's PC except mine. Once I debug it, it shows that it stocked at copying the objects from a template sheet to another sheet. When I try doing it manually, I still can not copy the objects to another sheet. It copies the sheet but except the objects in it. Is it related to my settings?
Insert - Object allows me to insert a object (display as icon is used). Is it also possible to insert multiple objects in one go? Via this option I can always only select 1 object.
I'm trying to hide a few columns on my spreadsheet. I'm getting a "cannot shift objects off sheet" error message 2010 Excel program. I never had trouble with my 2003 excel.
There are no comments on this sheet, 'Display options for this workbook' already says all. I do have macro buttons on the top... but changed them all to move and size with cells.
I often use the .TAG property on controls as a sort of temporary container to hold variables, arrays and such but this gets messy because I sometimes forget which control I used for what since there appears to be only 1 tag property per control. Are there any controls that have numerous .TAG like properties I could use (even name) to hold my temp data?
Is it possible to do a seach in a lot of excel files (>500) to find the excel files wich have an embedded objects inside. If so how can I do this with VBA ?
Not sure how it happened, but I lost all gridlines in Excel. I was working in a workbook this morning and something happened while in there. I have gone through options/advanced and my gridlines are colored to black. Then I have also highlighted the entire sheet and selected no fill from the Home Tab. Nothing is working.
I have two columns which i want to compare, they contain text data such as A123.
what I'd like is if its in column A and not in Column B then add to bottom of column A.
Once its in column A i can do the vlookup's to draw the other data, costs etc, over but don't know how to identify, and add, the missing codes to the list.
In Excel 2003 the Status Bar is missing. I know to go to Tools, Options, View to view and hide the Status Bar however as i cannot see Tools (as Status Bar missing) is there another way to get the Status Bar back?
I have a workbook that on sheet one I mark qualifications with an X. On sheet 2 I use a formula that places an X in cells if all requirements are met example:
Is there a formula I can use that if one of the requirements are not met it will tell me what is missing instead of me going back and have to look through all the data to find out D5 was missing as an example?
I'm a novice using Excel 2007 at work and some of my worksheets have vanished.
On Friday I opened up an existing single-sheet workbook; while I was working on it I renamed the original sheet and added two new sheets. Obviously, I saved everything before I shut the file.
Today I've opened up the workbook and the two new sheets have vanished. Strangely, the original sheet has reverted to its original name (also the name of the workbook), but the changes I made to the data on Friday remain. The Properties window indicates there is only one sheet in this workbook, and confirms that the last save was made at the end of Friday.
The workbook is saved as an Excel Comma Separated Values file. I don't know if this is relevent.
i need to find the missing numbers from 12 rows of 20 numbers.
ie, i have these numbers (only between 1-80) and need to find the *normally* 2 numbers that are not in that list between 1-80. there are 14 rows in this example
these numbers wont be the same every time, but in theory after i enter 12 rows there should be only 5/6 numbers left max.
i need a script so that when i copy/paste 12 rows, i can be presented with the numbers not in that field. or even if i have a field of 1-80 displayed, then i copy paste my numbers in the fields below and can somehow highlight which numbers between 1-80 aren't in my pasted fields on the 1-80 field.
btw the numbers missing here are 24-68
ps im using excel starter 10 if that makes a difference
I have a friend using Excel for Macs 2011 and the column and row headings (ABC & 123) are not showing on the spreadsheets on the screen. How to turn them on. I fgure they got turned off somehow?????
I have this vba that copies the current sheet and renames it as well as copying the current sheet into a new workbook for emailing.
This has worked fine for the last 2 years or so but all of a sudden it doesn't want to work. The error message is that it "Can't find project or library."
Code: Dt = Format(Range("C19").Value + 6, "DDMMYYYY") Dt is dimmed as string and Dt is used to rename the new sheet.
I have looked througn the reference library and things seem ok.
This happens in Excel 2003 with Win8 and in excel 2013 with Win7.
I am currently using MS Excel 2007. Is there a way in VBA to automatically insert missing columns based on a defined series or range of values?
For example, we have a report that displays columns of: Year 2004 to Year 2012 per column (9 columns in total). Sometimes, it displays missing a year or years (thus; our report has less columns). For example, it only shows 2008 to 2012 (missing 2004 to 2007). At times, it misses some years in between. What we do is manually add those missing years by manually inserting columns then inputting the missing year as their column headers.
Is it posisble for VBA to check if the columns contain all of the defined Year range (for example, you've initially defined: Year 2004 to Year 2012)? Afterwards, all missing columns are automoatically inserted (in chronological order or based on your defined values or range).
As I only have Excel 2003 at work and need to create and send PDFs of customer statements, I wrote a macro to automate the otherwise time-consuming process. It worked well for several months, but now the bottom third of the PDFs I create is missing! I didn't post here at first, because I couldn't be sure it was an Excel problem, but I have since tried a second PDF program (Bullzip - the first I used was PrimoPDF) and I get the same problem. It prints correctly to a paper printer, so the print range is correct.
I am using Excel 2013. I have an autofilter turned on for the columns in the spreadsheet. When I click on the filter button at the top of a column, the filter values do not have any check boxes next to them so I can't check any values. how to fix it so that it has checkboxes? I've attached a screen shot.
If seen a couple of examples but for whatever reason it doesn't work on my sheet. (Excel 2010 32 bit) I don't understand how to highlight the entire column to see this particular value is not in this list. I have two lists, I want to see what data am I missing In list 2 that I have in list one. Basically all I am trying to do is see what values are not in the second list but are in the first list so I can later add them to the second list. (Also the 2nd list is longer than the first if that makes a difference.)
I have a udf that returns a string to the cell. The string is made up of multiple string "objects". What I am wondering is if I can set the font color of certain objects so that when the final string is built and returned, the font of those portions is set.
Ex. of simple idea (this is not actually my code, just a way to illustrate. I realize there is no point to this UDF):
VB:
Function StringReturn (Str1 As String, Str2 As String, Str3 As String) As String StringReturn = Str1 & Str2 & Str3 End Function
Now what if I wanted Str1 and Str3 to be blue, and Str2 to be red for example. So that when the UDF calculates it would return: Str1Str2Str3
I produced several charts in Excel 2007. They display just fine when using Excel 2007, but when we try to open it in our office computers (which uses Excel 2010), the Axis and Legend Labels simply vanish.I know there's these fixes for Excel 2007, deleting a buggy MS hotfix or installing the KB2597962 fix. But the problem is, I need it to display in our Excel 2010 computers.
