I'm making a Userform for commands I use a lot, like concatenation and highlighting cells. I placed a command button on the sheet that pops up whenever I open Excel. It's a bit awkward to have it on the sheet. Is there a way to place the button on the ribbon to get it out of the way? (I'm on an intermediary level with VBA
Another alternative would be to make a hide button on the userform, I guess. Once it disappears though I'd probably need another button to call it up again.
Is it true that I have to enable macro and choose to trust access to the VBA project object model in order to create and run macros? It seems there is some security risk associated with making the workbook as macro enabled. What makes the commands run from the ribbon security free? Is it true that we can work around the macro security concern by creating a command button to the ribbon and run the macro from the command button? If yes, how come I could not find any discussion of creating the command buttons? I am using Excel 2007.
I have two sheets and two listbox's(ColumnCount8) and one command button.
lstInYard rowsource is set to sheet1 lstMilled rowsorce is set to sheet3
Iam trying to cut and paste the selections in lstInYard to lstMilled as well as the corrosponding row values in sheet1 to sheet3 by using cmdMoveSelected click event.
What's the easiest way to remove all old commandbar / ribbon customizations from Excel 2007? Do I need to know names? How do I find those? It's ok if everything else is set to factory defaults too.
There's two thing I know about those customizations 1) When I right click a cell, it says "Clear All" three times. Each of those should be removed.
2) In the Ribbon there's a tab "TestiTab". It should be removed.
How to create a button on the Ribbon (after you have created a group), and connect this button with a VBA code. So you can avoid going to developer->Macros->find the code and click run.
I have a pretty developed add-in I've created for use at work. It has 3 full custom ribbon tabs worth of buttons and boxes and other features that run all of the macros in the project. Everyone loves it. The only problem is, its only used when we work with customer statement excel files. When using Excel for other tasks it is annoying to have 3 extra, essentially useless tabs taking up space on the ribbon.
Is it possible to create a button and stick it on, say the Data tab, that will "Start" the add-in and make the 3 custom tabs visible? Ideally there would also be a button to "Close" the add-in or hide the extra tabs until they're needed as well, but how to customize for my specific needs.
I have a workbook that has a userform with some simple code to translate formulas from .FormulaLocal to .Formula, and back.
I use that workbook a lot to translate formulas I find on here to something my German XL2007 will understand. I thought it would be neat, as well as giving me the opportunity to learn something new, to have that functionality as an add-in, rather than having the workbook open all the time. It is easy enough to save the wb as an add-in, and I can see it in my add-in list, install or un-install it. What i can't figure out is how to put a button on the xl07 ribbon when the add in is installed so i can access it.
Is it possible that when you press a command button, that the first thing it does is to execute the code assigned to another command button (IE in another sub).
How can I change the name of toggle button to "Disbale Download" after clicking on the toggle button? I am trying to find the answer on WROX Excel 200 VBA but I am lost.
For example - I have a two macro codes. One is change the Date Format from DD.MM.YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY and another one is Date Format from MM/DD/YYYY to YYYYMMDD.
I want to execute the macro from the customize ribbon through Add in Buttons.
See the attachment : Customize the ribbon with Macro code.jpg
I've been trying to research how to do this for a while now and still can't figure it out. My impression is that this is fairly straightforward in Excel 2010 since the menus and ribbons are easily customizable but not so in Excel 2007.
So far I can get macro shown as a button in the Quick Access Toolbar. But the issue is that I can't organize them or customize the icons.
How can I return name of a command button on click? I want to create some sort buttons on a sheet I will use regularly to speed things up. I thought if I could call each sort button by the column letter the button sits in I can use this in a single sub for all buttons
e.g the button sitting in column A is called "A". when i click the button, it returns it's name to a variable which I can then use to sort column A. I know I could create a seperate routine for each button but I was just trying to think of something neater.
how to get some command buttons to stick in one place? I currently have two in a summary sheet. Each button runs a similar code which clears and deletes (by shifting cells upward) at the start of the process, then populates data.
It's rather annoying though that I cant have the buttons stick to one zone, they end up moving left or right depending on which button I press. Each report also changes column sizes, dont know if that's relevant?
i want to create a save button in sheet 1, on clicking the same the data entered in the particluar cells of sheet 1 should get saved in sheet 2 in given format
This is probably really straight forward but cant see why it happens, the following macro works fine when called by a button created by the form toolbar but doesnt when called by a command button, get the runtime error 1004, "select method of range class failed"
now I thought about recording the macro, but it's an offset and if you click the chart, then it'll mvoe somewhere else even though the charts are always placed in the middle when generated. So I think I need to place it in a specific range. I want to use XY coordinates or range labels or something to that effect but would like something to this affect:
With Charts.Add .ChartWizard source:=Worksheets("sheet1").Range("a1:a20"), _ gallery:=xlLine, title:="February Data" End With
I got that in VBA help, but I'm not using Chart wizard, my code just creates the chart from the data on its own with specific chart type. So anyway, how would I make it put each of my five charts for the 25 people in the same place for every person. Performance Errors etc etc etc all will go in the right place everytime, regardless if you start with the page scrolled. I should do range right, but how do I change this macro to do it without chart wizard...just a chart that's already created and named. QUESTION: How do I place charts that are created from a data source onto a specific area of one worksheet, and those charts are always in the same place regardless of the person'a name.
I have read several articles saying using a command button as a toggle button can't be done but some articles have said it is possible using the state properties.
.State = msobuttondown .State = msobuttonup
Is there any way to combine this with the onaction property so that when you press the button, it stays down and activates a macro then when you press it again it pops back up and activates another macro.
Let`s assume that I have numerous "Serial Number" in "Sheet1" : http://i40.tinypic.com/2iqbspt.jpg
Now I want to create some cards in "Sheet2" that each card have a serial number that related serial number there is in "Sheet1" : http://i43.tinypic.com/34fz690.jpg. Need easy solution for doing it while when I drag one card to copying it then related serial number in sheet1 would be appear in required field. I mean first card has first serial number of sheet1 and second card has second serial number of sheet 1 ; but I want to doing it quickly with dragging.
I have searched this topic but I came up with nothing regarding my exact situation.
I have 5 buttons on sheet 1. I want them to all direct me to another sheet in the same workbook. However, some buttons will contain more than one sheet.
Example: Button 1 will direct me to 4 different sheets. Is this possible?
Also, When I open the workbook, I see many sheets that I am working from but I do not want them to show up when I open the workbook. The only way to see these sheets is to click on the command buttons at the top of sheet 1.
I know that this may seem a little strange to request as you can just select the row and delete it, however the sheet is designed as "idiot proof", so I would like to implement this.
Basically, I have a box which states "If you need to delete a row due to incorrect entry, please type the row number here (next cell), and click delete".
I want to know if by using VBA, you can reference the number entered in the cell, and use this to determin the row in which we are required to delete.
I have a 2 worksheets. One "Projects in Process"and the other "Project Completed". when the users fill in the information in cells A4-F4 (line 4 is the starting line and it could go down as far as line 23 or a23 - f23) In Projects in Process they press a "completed Project" command button and the data in a4-f4 copies over to worksheet "Projects completed". In the next available row (starting at row 4).
