Find Blank Cell Then Fill Column With Data

Apr 20, 2006

I have a userform that I am using to populate a column with data. I have the following code to find the next blank cell on the first row to enter the data from the first textbox in the userform

ActiveSheet.Range("av1").End(xlToLeft).Offset(0, 1).Value = TextBox1

I was then going to populate the rest of the cells in the column by changing the range "A1" to "A2" and so on. The problem I have is that not all of the cells have a compulsory entry so when the end(xlToLeft) function may not always end in the same column and the data will be staggered.

First Entry
A B C D E
1X
2X
3X
4
5X

Second Entry
A B C D E
1XY
2XY
3XY
4Y
5XY

What I want to do is find the first blank cell in the first row, as that will have a compulsory entry, and then fill the rest of the cells in the same column. So if the first blank cell is D1 i want to go down then D2,D3,D4 etc.

I can do it going across the rows but cannot figure it out using columns.

Moving Data From Multiple Columns To Single Column

Mar 28, 2012

in moving data from multiple columns to a single column. I have attached a sample image from an excel file which details the requirement. The first column contains a qualifier, that should remain constant when the data from columns B to the end move to a single column "B". The number of columns for each row is different, however, there is a maximum number, say 25. As mentioned in the image, when the data from columns B to the end is moved in to column B, column A is retained fixed, to the original value, and the original data below it is pushed below. Any pointers to how this can be achieved by VBA or without VBA?

Moving Data Cells From Multiple Columns To Single Column

Nov 14, 2011

I'm trying to work out how to take all cells with data from multiple columns and stack them in a single column.

Here's the history...

I have multiple part numbers in single cells in column A. I perform a text-to-columns function. The resulting part numbers spread across multiple columns (say, B through K). Now I need to get all the part numbers, in their own cells, stacked in column A for one continuous list of single cell part numbers.

Is there a VBA option for cutting only the data cells from Column B-K and pasting the data at the bottom of column A while avioding blank cells?

Moving Data To Another Cell

Dec 11, 2009

I have 3 columns Z, AA, AB. The heading for Z1 is “A”, AA1 is “B” and AB1 is “C”
In column Z2:Z2000, there is a mix of A, B’s and C’s. I want A to stay in Z1 column, B’s to goto AA1 and C’s to goto AB1, also I want this added to a macro that I previously created, so everything happens with one push of a button

Now for save, not sure if this is possible or not, if I can have this added to the macro as well that would be great. When I push my macro button, the file saves to “Dec (today’s date) DB (81).xls” The number 81 is the total count of A, B’s C’s, this # will change depending on how may A, B’s and C’s there are. I really hope there is a way of doing all this

Moving A Row Of Data Into One Cell

Dec 13, 2012

Essentially, there are two columns I am dealing with. One is "Sales Rep" and it lists all of the sales reps employed by the company. The other is "Zip Code" and that will list all of the zip codes that sales rep is responsible for.

Now, I have a row of data, all of those zip codes listed out, that each rep is responsible for, but my supervisor wants all of the zip codes listed in one cell, in that second column. Example: (02018, 34098, 16711).

The commas are not necessary, but is there any way to get this done other than manually entering them?

Moving Data To A New Cell.

Apr 12, 2007

I have cut and pasted a large amount of data onto a spreadsheet. The problem is that I have two rows of data that is associated with one another, so lets say A1 has a name and A2 contains that person's age. This process repeats in the same way in A3 and A4 and so on.

I need to move the data from A2 to B1 without using a simple function like =A2 in B1. The reason is that I will need to sort just the Names in column A once I get the the data moved. I am not sure how to do this.

Moving Defined Cell Data Down One Row

Feb 10, 2010

This is the last task in a project I inherited. I have included a sample sheet with 50 rows of data which represents a real sheet with 185,000 rows. This sheet has seven columns, but only two of which apply to this task, columns A and B. Column A is a list of parcel numbers which can, and in many times does, repeat multiple times. Column B is a list of the 'sellers' name for the respective parcel number. This sheet has been sorted by parcel number, then date.

As the current 'seller' was the previous 'buyer', I need to move the 'sellers' name down one row, if the parcel number (Column A) is repeated. If the parcel number is not repeated, the name (Column B) will need to be deleted. This will leave the 'top' line for each unique parcel number blank, which I can work with. As far as the bottom name for each unique parcel number, it will need to also be deleted as there is no where for it to be transferred to. Only the name will be deleted from the 'bottom' row, not the rest of the data. The end result should not change the amount of rows of data.

Moving Cells Data Down 1 Cell If That 1 Is Empty

Apr 29, 2014

I have a Rental Form that i'm working on, and to tidy things up when I print it out, I would like to move a cells data down 1 row if that cell is empty. Here's what I have:

cell b8 - First and Last Name
cell b9 - Address1
cell B10 - Address2
cell b11 - City, State, Zip
cell 12 - Phone #
etc.

Not too many people have an address2, so when that field is empty, I'd like to move Address1's data down to it's position (address2). If address2 has data in it, leave address1 where it is. Simple right? This moving would happen when the command button is hit and the form data goes to sheet 1 which works fine.

Macro Optimization And Moving Text From One Column To Another And Deleting Previous Column

Nov 7, 2009

I am running Win XP and Excel 2003.

I have a macro I found here on the boards written by Lenze to delete an entire row based on what is found in column A. I would like to delete any row where Col. B contains 10 or less characters and I have modified it to do so (or at least I think it does). My problem is that it takes about 12 minutes to run the macro (I have about 50k lines to run through). I was wondering if this is the fastest method or if it examines things other than just column B.

Sub Test()
Dim i As Long
LR = Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row
For i = LR To 2 Step -1
If Len(Cells(i, "B")) < 11 Then Cells(i, "B").EntireRow.Delete
Next i
End Sub
After this runs, I am left with Columns A to somewhere around AH. The columns are generally in the format of text followed by a numeric column. An individual text column has the same name through all of the rows. The numeric columns have varied values whether negative or positive.
Ideally what I would like: If a given cell (ie. C2) in Row 2 is numeric, then copy the cell to the left (ie. B2) into (ie. C1) and then delete Column B. I need this to work for multiple columns from B to C, skip D and E, and then from F to AG (and maybe beyond).

Calculate Average For Column Based On Moving Start Column?

May 3, 2013

I have a pivot that includes customer data and I need to create an average for each row based on the first populated column for each customer. After one month of units appears for the customer, I need to calculate the average going forward, and if there are blanks after that they should be treated as 0 in the average. Below is an example of my description of the pivot.

Jan Feb Mar Apr
Customer #1 1 1 3
Customer #2 1 3
Customer #3 2 2

So, the average for customer #1 would be calculated from Column B to Column E, and factor column D as a 0 in that calculation. Customer 2's average would start in Column C and go to Column E, and factor column E as a 0 in that calculation. Customer 3's average would start in column D to column E.

Find Last Cell In Column And Paste Formula In Next Blank Cell Then Repeat On Remaining Columns

Jan 14, 2013

I need a macro to find the last cell in the column, then copy the formula to the next blank cell. Then, it goes back to the last cell (above) and paste's values. Then, go to the next column and repeat the process. I can do this but have to call each cell separatly...however, I would like to do it in a loop to simplify things. It would be great to even be able to just set the start and ending columns. Here is my current code:

Dim rng As Range, aCell As Range
Set rng = Range("C8, D8, E8, F8, G8, H8, J8, K8, L8, M8, N8, O8, P8, Q8, R8, S8, T8, U8")
For Each aCell In rng
Selection.End(xlDown).Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False

[Code] .......

It does not go to the next column, instead it stays in the same column and repeats the process.
