Im trying to construct a nested Countif statement. I need to count the number of instances that "Project" appears in Column O AND "TS" in Column N. The range is in another in Sheet2. and the summary in Sheet 1 where I want to have the Countif(AND...??? statement Example Counif(Sheet 1 Column 0 contains "Project" AND if Column N Contains "TS"

I need to write a couple of functions. Firstly I want to do a count on column B (project $) depending on the criteria on column A (project description). For example a total count of all values in col B if project description is "P" or "A". [I can do sumif functions but this is a countif and I cannot get this right].

Ive tried the frequency formula but that doesn't work the way I want it - I think its probably the wrong formula to use. I've also tried a pivot table but they always vex me. I'm currently using this formula for exact values: COUNTIF(A1:A5,"Hello"), but this only works if an entry in a column is exactly: "Hello"
I want to be able to count a column even if it has more words, such as "Hello how are you" etc., and this column would be counted because it has the word "hello" in it.

If you can see the example spreadsheet that has been uploaded, I need VBA to try and count how many times the number 1, 2 or 3 occurs in the column A and give that figure in b15, 16 and 17 respectively. I also need it count the number of times a particular product appears in column B and give those figures in b19, 20 and 21.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a graph that is conditional on two different columns. The first column is a date column, the second column has various categories. I want to show how many times each category appears per month. This database is continually added to so I wanted the formula to reflect the entire column range.
For example, let say I have 5 categories (Grapes, Apples, Peach, Pear, Banana). Column A would show a date (in a M/D/Y format) and Column B would list the fruit type. I want to show how many Grapes were input in January, February, March, etc. and then move on to show how many apples in each month, and so on.
I'm working on a formula for COUNTIF with 3 criteria.
What I'm looking to do is create a formula that counts the number of instances which meet all of the following three criteria:
the value of Column A is >=0 and the value of Column I is >=0 and

I've tried using sumproduct (sucessful for other data) but not able to get it to work with dates.
I am attempting to count a number of cells in one column so long as they fall within a certain date, which is located in another cell in the same column. I'm trying to account for a number of reports that happened within a certain week.
The formula I came up with was
=COUNTA(COUNTIFS(A_DATE,">="&B2,A_DATE,"<="&D2))
But this returns 1 more then it should no matter what. Even when all cells within A_DATE are empty. it returns 1.
I know the COUNTIFS portion works to count the cells between certain dates.
Is what i'm looking to do possible or am I suffering from Excel burnout and just can't see that logicaly it makes no sense?

In other words, if the date in a column "B" cell (B3:B78) is greater than the date in A86, I want to count the number of cells whose corresponding value in the "J" column is greater than "0". And then I want to take this selective COUNT and divide it by a COUNT of all the cells in the range "J3:J78".

I've tried to use ISNUMBER formulas and COUNTIF formulas but I can't seem to make them work. For example for dept. 1, I would like to know how many different schedules are in that dept. I have 48 schedules and 60 departments (numbered 1-60). I would like to know how many "different schedules" dept 1 has and so on. I don't think the frequency function will work. Is there a way I can use sumproduct to get the result I'm looking for? The information is on a separate worksheet in colums (Col. A holds the dept and Col. B holds the relative schedule).

So my question is...can someone verbally explain just exactly what is going on? i.e. I don't understand the <>"" in the sumproduct argument or the &"" in the second argument of the countif.
I have a large worksheet that lists employees and the hours they work each day in a pay period.
For Example:
Column A holds a date and Column E holds the number of hours worked for a paytype. So i want to create some function that sums the numbers in column E, but only those where column A holds a date.
Then i want to return that number to a cell, say C20. I think I've managed to tell the macro which rows i want to return values from, but I can't figure out how to say "add these numbers together and put the total in C20."
I'll check this frequently if clarification is needed.

Each month I compile a Pivit table that shows by day if a product was in stock or out of stock, this is represented by a blank cell (in stock), "1" Out of stock.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find an example of how to add multiple columns to a list box. I found the usual listbox1.list(x,x)= "whatever" type stuff but that doesn't seem to work right.

As yet there are no days in which there were more than 2 cases but there might be in the future.
I have a list of dates when operations took place in that room. On some days the it was not in use, so those dates don't appear in the list. Some days there was 1 case, so that date appears once in the list. On some days there were two cases, so that date appears twice in the list.
What I've done so far is create a pivot table that contains all the dates, then grouped it by day and counted the number of times there was 1 or 2 cases in a day by hand, then subtracted the total to get the days when there weren't any cases.
