Mar 12, 2014I need a formula that returns the Nth number from a single column that contains a small number of values within a span of 1000 cells. E.g., within 1000 cells there are 36 with numbers and the remaining cells are blank. I need to obtain the first occurrence of a number in the column, then the second, third... to the thirty-sixth. The end result would be a column with 36 numbers with no blanks in between without loosing the correct order of the numbers.
I have excel 2003 and have been tooling around with the index and lookup functions with no success.

I have tried multiple ways with a Sumproduct but none of them have worked. I would love to be able to do this with a single formula without having to add another column, for instance, to track what MonthNum it is. I tried using some kind of offset, but i could never get it to work.. For instance to look through the range, find the initial go over 1 column to the right and multiply that % by the revenue if the Month is 1..

The total will change every hour because the formula will be using real time. I can write the formula for 12x60 but to enter the time, based on real time I just don't know or even if it can be done.

Spreadsheet works great, but I've realized that I should have expanded beyond the 1st 1000 cells (example: $1000). One book 1, my data entry will extend beyond row 1000.
Is there a way I can replace all $1000's on the spreadsheet with say $3000 without having to correct each of the 300 cells separately?

I need to tell every cell in one column to multiply itself by a firm number and a percentage. Ex: Column F will be the result of $77.80 times 75 percent all the way down the column. Column G will be $27.21 times 100 percent all the way down.
I could enter the formula into every cell, but I wondered if there's a way to just tell the whole column, only once, what it needs to do. PS-I work for an insurance company. The employees of a company want a spreadsheet showing exactly who pays exactly what. Ex: Their paystub shows $142.90 coming out of their paycheck. Their employer pays 100% of medical, 75% of dental. I have a list of names (text string) in a column (A) that have associated whole numbers in another column (B). What I would like to do is create a formula that multiplies the text string in cell A2 (for ex.) by the whole number in B2 and return a "list" of the text string in A2 equal to the whole number by which it is multiplied.
Here's a visual example of the results I want to achieve:
Using the above example, I would like to end up with a list in column D with 159 total rows with the text contents corresponding to the whole number in column B.

Dec 18, 2013I am working with the attached sheet and it is made up of groups of rows that alternate with a 6 digit NAICS code (industry code) then an aggregation of those codes into a more general 3 digit NAICS. I need to have the row with the 3 digit NAICS code calculate a number that multiplies a column called "% of industry" by several columns of of numbers and then sums the result into a cell in that 3 digit NAICS row. Different groupings have different numbers of rows. I would like to know if there is a 1 cell formula that can achieve this and be easily copied down the sheet to the other 3 digit NAICS rows.
You can see in row 37 this formula being executed for a simple 2 row aggregation. But that would take forever to replicate down the sheet, especially for the larger aggregations.
An example for row 32 that achieves the desired result and could be easily copied down the sheet.

My issue is if I format the number to accept 4 decimal places the 09.529 number becomes 09.5290. I don't know what I can do to fix this as some need 4 decimal places and others will require none.

example: 1-2-3-4-5-6 or 1-22-3-44-5-6.
If the the number between the dash '-' is a single digit (less than 9), I want to insert a leading zero so all 6 numbers are 2 digits.
Is this possible with custom formatting? I tried a custom for of:
00"-"00"-"00"-"00"-"00"-"00
and it is not working.
I also tried using a MID formula but it gets quite complex identifying the location of the dash - is there an easier way than the MID or LEN?

But when the above string is concatenated from the contents of various cells, excel is unable to apply different formatting (as exampled above) in the concatenated cell. Although we can apply bold, underline etc by selecting the concatenated cell but it is applied to whole string and not to the selected parts of string.

What I am trying to do is if C1 or C2 or C3 or C4 has a number value that I can multiply the cell in question by 2 and then add up all of the cells to give a total in C5. Also, I have a name in A1, but when I select E1 and enter =A1 into the cell then return, I get A1 in the cell instead of the name in A1.
