i'm creating a spreadsheet with records of repair jobs on vehicles that my company is/has performed. the problem is that, the way our system works, there are currently no unique identifiers for jobs, meaning i cannot create a master list with various vlookup tables with only the information relevant for our engineers on them.
is it possible to create a macro or use some other system, that will create a new, unique code when a line/cell is filled in? because we end up sorting the list by different criteria on a regular basis (to find specific jobs) the system can't be relative (i.e. +1 to the code above).
This recorded macro inserts a line below the cell that active when it was first recorded. It then copies some text and a formula to the line that was created.
Sub Macro11() Rows("10:10").Select Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown, CopyOrigin:=xlFormatFromLeftOrAbove Range("A9:E9").Select Selection.Copy Range("A10").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Range("H9").Select Application.CutCopyMode = False Selection.Copy Range("H10").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Range("F9").Select End Sub
If you run this macro again at a different cell position, it goes back to the first starting position and repeats the same action. I see that the cell references from the first recording are fixed in the macro. I can't figure out how to make the macro use the new current cell position as the starting positiion when it runs again.
I have a combobox on a Userform, when the userform initializes i want it to populate Combobox1 with all the Unique values from SHeet 1 Column A (variable length to the column)
I dont know how to select a unique record only.
*thinking a bit further ahead i have a second combobox that i need to populate with unique values from column B on sheet 1, where in column A matches what was selected in combobox 1
I am trying to filter a list where the number of occurences of unique cost codes for each emp No is more than 1. What is needed is the emp no's who have only one costcode to have '0' in the 'no of codes' column. If more costcodes per empno, I need the first costcode to have 1, second code 2, etc in 'no of codes' column. The idea is at the end to be able to filter and delete all those with '0' in, as I only need to work with emp no's that have more than 1 'cost code'. See attached file. The records are in col A, the costcodes assigned to them in B, the formula in C, at the moment is:
I have a spreadsheet will a large amount of invoice numbers, some of which are multiple occurrences of the same number. I need to count the duplicates as one unique record and sum but I need to sum the total $ amount of each amount attached to each occurrence.
Please look at the sample to see what I mean.
W234678 has three amounts that are added to give a total amount for that number and it is added to the count as one record.
I had this code kindly borrowed from someone else which helped me find the duplicates but it is not meeting my needs.
Dim rCell As Range, rRng As Range, vKey, lrow As Long
I have to copy and paste each group of "Control Accounts" from column A into a separate workbook. I want to create a macro that can open as many new workbooks as there are unique records in column A and copy paste each group of unique records into those different workbooks.
I would like to combine values from multiple records into a single record using a unique identifier. In the example below 'ID' is the unique identifier.
I seek advice on using the value of NOW() as a record ID in an address book program. Question #1: Do Excel developers often use a record ID? Question #2: What record ID schemes are fequently employed besides date/time? I have decided to create an Excel address book as an exercise to increase my knowledge of VBA, and also as a useful application for work.
I realize that a record ID is not essential in Excel in the way that it is essential in Access, but I feel the need to have some unique ID associated with each address, so that I may have different worksheets, with data related to a given Contact, sort and manipulate it, if necessary, but have the record ID as a way to restore the relationship of rows to a given Contact, and also, as a handy way to examine the data in the date/time sequence in which it was entered. I have experimented with the following code, to assure myself that I can access the number returned by the NOW() function, manipulate it as a string, and format in various ways if necessary.
Dim n As Double n = Now() sn = Str(n) p = InStr(sn, ".") first = Left(sn, (p - 1)) l = Len(sn) d = l - p S = Mid(sn, (p + 1), d)....................
I am creating an asset management sheet. For the formula I am trying to work out there uses 3 fields : ID, start date, and end date.
What I want to do is be able to show if the ID is duplicated within another record with an overlapping date. So an item is flagged if it is in the list within the same dates as another record. I tried a few countif formulas but with no success.. I may just be approaching the problem incorrectly though.
I am looking to create a macro that will create a new sheet when data is added on a summary sheet. Example.
1. Summary sheet called "Variations" contains columns that will contain the information needed for new sheet (Columns A to D)
2. When data is entered on "Variations" sheet: Column B, then macro automatically creates new sheet renamed to e.g. VO1 (Number used on "Variations" tab) and is a copy of "Master" tab.
3. Data entered in Column A to D on "Variations" tab is automatically entered onto new sheet created (e.g VO1). Shown is blue on attached file. Additional data is updated on "VO1" sheet and this then links back to "Variations" tab
This problem seemed to revolve around "digital signing" with further macro changes done from a different machine (without the proper certificate). Excel warns of the problem and then "unsigns" the project.
I've got a problem with spreadsheets that I've been working on. Now, when I tell it to record a macro, I get the macro name, shortcut assignment dialog box and then an error "Unable to record." After "Ok"ing that dialog box, the normal recording macro dialog comes up. Also, lo and behold, there will not be a macro recorded.
I've got no protected cells or sheets and it doesn't matter what security level is set. It is a "signed" macro but I can take off the signature and still have the problem. I checked for "Help - About" for deactivated modules and there was none.
If I have multiple entries with different but repeatable text values in one column - how do I count all unique ones ? Is there a function or does it have to be a pivot table of sth ?
I'm trying to think of a way to do this. I need a unique ID number per company, so I would want it to look something like this:
0001: Apple 0001: Apple 0002: Google 0003: Sony 0003: Sony 0003: Sony 0003: Sony 0004: Ford 0004: Ford 0004: Ford
.....and on and on for about 400+ rows. I think I know how to state the condition. IF B15 =/= B14 then....assign unique ID, else A15 = A14....or something to that effect.
Each product is represented by a serial number (column A). The can be sorted on column A from smallest to largest prior to calculating results if that helps.
The repair list contains 1 entry per spare part used, so the same serial number may occur several times.
Furthermore, a product may have been repaired on several instances - so the serial numbers can span several dates (column B).
The solution i am looking for should return the number of unique repair dates per serial number. That way i can see, how many times each product has been repaired. Results can be displayed in an individual column.
in column A we have 100 numbers that change every day, and in column B 100 row with 2 condition (1; -1) that change too...
wich formula starting from A1 to A100 [/b]give me in C, at the right row of A, the relative max of A when B=1 (from the first "1" to the first "-1" of B) and then the min of A when B is -1 (from the first "-1" to the first "1" of B)?
I have written an SQL Stored proceedure which drags this information into excel.
All is well here, however because the information changes regularly adding and subtracting in row length it means I am having issues writing code for sums as a standard macro is absolute and not realative.
i want to do is to use value in [K8] and to find a row which matches the value in [A11:A35]. Then to pick up the cell where the value is. The problem is that i cant use "VLOOKUP" or "HLOOKUP" because the value can be in any of the rows or columns from [C11:I35].
There is allways only 1 value per row, if itīs for any use..
I work with Excel the more I realize that I'm not that good at it Anyways, I'm in need of a quite advanced formula (for me) that sums up relative relative rows of a specified column. The rows relation depends on the ID-number of the person. Look at my attachment.
In Sheet1 I have an extract of the data I'm working with. It's a medical record of different people in a study. The ID (col. B) seperate the different people. One person can have several perscriptions (spelling?) of medicine. Every perscription has an "fddd", a daily dose (col. L). I want to add up all the daily doses for every seperate ID of my data in Sheet2. So for example, for ID1 I want it to sum L3:L6 in Sheet1 and return it to Sheet2!B2. If the ID is not found I want it to be blank.
I suspect there's a simple answer to this but I've looked and can't find it: In Excel 2003, when I add a hyperlink to another file and close/reopen my workbook, the link is saved as relative to the current workbook. So if the main workbook is moved or, in my case, when I use VBA to copy and email the sheet with the hyperlinks, the links are broken.
I have two columns. The first is imported NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND CSZ on three lines, repeating over and over again. Several hundred names, addresses, csz. The SECOND column is a formula which picks up ONLY the text name in the first column. The SECOND column will just be one NAME after another, so the formulas will SKIP two rows in the first column. HOW do I copy down / propagate relative formulas to do this
I have a list of values in column A, and want to display in column B, in the cell where the cursor is when the macro is started (let's call it Bn), the sum of values (An:An-11), where n can be any row where there are values to be added. The following works fine.
I have a named block, used to sort a list of data. But I names the block one row higher to include the headers, so that inserts at the top row of the data would not fall out of the named range. Then I want to sort the data, but not include the header row.
What I want to say in the sort macro is something like: cell_range( top_row(Data)-1, Bottom_Row(Data) )
Or, to have two names, with one defined in terms of the other: Data_sort = Data_big - Toprow(Data_big)
a user i'm assisting wants to calculate totals by recording a macro that sums all the rows in a column using relative cell references. this is because the user runs a report that pulls in data that varies. one week the report may contain 40 rows that need to be totaled, and the next week there may be 60 rows that need to be totaled.
here's what i did:place cursor in cell where i want total to appear go to VIEW menu, MACROS tab, and click USE RELATIVE REFERENCES click RECORD MACRO enter name, description, assign shortcut key go to FORMULAS menu and click AUTOSUM press RETURN
when i test the macro out on columns containing the same amount of rows, it works fine. but when i run the macro on a column with more rows, it only totals the amount of rows contained in the original macro. see attached.
