I have a pivot table report connected to an external data source (OLAP cube).I want to automatically refresh the pivot table report everytime the OLAP cube data changes.
I know we can use Automatic refresh on open of workbook or time intervals after which to refresh .But i want the auto refresh to work even if the workbook is already open and there is no definite time interval after which the cube is likely to change.SO,by defining intervals for auto refresh i do not intend to waste time refreshing even if there is no change.
There are multiple pivot table reports and pivot charts connected to the same OLAP cube.
I can't understand why my rate1() function (my macro) doesn't work properly. While I'm dragging M5 cell in Sheet2 down to M14 cell it gives the wrong result. Even when I change value in Sheet1 and refresh data of pivot table in Sheet2, my function rate1() isn't updated. But my problem is solving (getting the correct result) when I'm going Edit Mode (pressing function key F2) in active Cell M5 or M6 or M7..so on and pressing Enter each time.
I have a pivot table in spreadsheet A. I have some formulas in another spreadsheet B. The formulas look up data in the pivot table in A and use that data in B to return and answer. Is there a way to refresh the pivot table in A from B without having to open A and refresh the table?
I have the following code to update a pivot table:
Code: Dim pt As PivotTable Application.EnableCancelKey = xlDisabled For Each pt In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("sheet1").PivotTables pt.ChangePivotCache ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Create _ (SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:="source!R4C1:R33443C55" _ , Version:=xlPivotTableVersion10)
the R33443 term is what will be changing, the columns and the starting row should stay the same. is there a way to instead of using R33443, to enable the range to be changed based on a cell value?
I have a workbook with a number of pivot tables as well as the source data for each pivot table. Some of the source data sheets needed to be deleted so now if I try to refresh the corresponding pivot table I get "Connot open pivot table source file '[Std Mthly Rpt.xls]Report_2'". I recreated the source file again and would like to know if I can link the pivot table to this new source file or do I need to create a new pivot table??
I am using Excel 2010 and have a workbook with two sheets - "Risks & Issues" which contains the source data and "Risks - Summary" which contains a Pivot Table called "Dashboard"
I would like to create a command button called 'Refresh Data' which will be on the "Risks - Summary" sheet. When I add a new line to the "Risks & Issues" sheet, I would click the button in "Risks - Summary" and it will update the Pivot Table range.
So far I've tried using some examples found on this site, although with no experience in VBA macros, I'm not really sure what they do; all I know is that they cause an error.
Sub Refresh_Click() Sheets("Risks - Summary").PivotTables("Dashboard").SourceData = Sheets("Risks & Issues").Range("A2").CurrentRegion.Address(True, True, xlR1C1, True) End Sub
I have a report that was created for 2005 that contains two worksheets: a "source data" worksheet and a " pivot table" worksheet. I cleared out the 2005 data in the "source data" worksheet and replaced it with 2006 data...after this I refreshed the Pivot Table and everything seemed fine. When looking at the file size I noticed that it was almost twice its original size....upon further investigation I found that the Pivot Table was internally holding onto the old source data (the "Show" functionality of the rows/columns in the table lists the 2005 row/column headers as well as the 2006 headers....even though no data from 2005 is shown in the Pivot Table).
Does anyone know how to purge the old data from the internal Pivot Table memory?
I hope this is enough information....let me know if you need more.
In sheet1 (SA Awards) I have the source table for my pivot table in Range ("A1:G50"). In sheet2 (Team Listing) my pivot table is located in Range("K2:S13") When I make changes in sheet1 I need my pivot table to update, I recorded a macro to refresh, however have only got it to work via a button & only if Sheet2 is unlocked
Sub PivotTableUpdate() Sheets("Team Listing").Select ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable8").PivotCache.Refresh Sheets("SA Awards").Select Range("B2").Select End Sub
1. How can I get this to work in the Worksheet_Change Event? 2. How can I password protect Sheet2 & still have it work?
I have enable Refresh on Open for my excel pivot table, but user need to click "Enable Automatic Refresh" , only solution i came across is to change the registry setting. Which i dont have access to edit registry(admin disable the access).
Alternate solution i try to use Access macro to automate the process and use Outputto save it as a excel file A. Then use excel file B to update pivot table from excel file A.(as excel A data is always latest) The problem is i will get "....A file name already exist...do you want to overwrite.." prompt. Which defeat the automate process.
Any other solution to enable the automatic refresh on open the excel workbook?
Or Access can overwrite the exist file or save it as another file name with timestamp ?
I have a single workbook with multiple worksheets. Each worksheet has a different pivot table displaying a different view of the data. Each pivot table uses the same source data at worksheet1.
Each week i add new data to the end of the source data, which means that I need change the source data reference separately in each pivot table to update each pivot table view to include the new data. This is laborious as there are quite a few pivot tables.
Was wondering if there is some way of changing the pivot table source data reference on all pivot tables at the same time.
I have a huge data set with survey data (sample attached: sample.xlsx). Column headings: survey questions Row headings: respondent identifiers (names) Row data: answers to questions (numeric values, only five answer options 1,2,3,4 or 5, no blanks)
I need to build that kind of pivot table:
Rows - list of particular questions (i.e. questions no. 3, 7 and 12) Columns - list of all diffrent answer entries (eventually, it will be 1,2,3,4 and 5) - it could also be questions in columns and answers in row (no difference) Values - count answer entries (i.e. how many answers "5" are on quesiton 3)
------ UPDATE: explanation added.
The reason I need pivot tables: i'll have to cross analyze multiple sets of questions. I'll have to do such cross-analysis 100+ times, so, writing a formula for each time does not quite work...
My worksheet has a report name in cell A1, a brand name in B2, price name in C2, and color in D2. Row 3 has a table header in cell range A3:E3 followed by rows of table contents at the end of which is a row of empty cells. This sequence repeats itself for a new product: a row with the report name in column A, followed by a row with a new brand name, price and color in the same columns as before followed by the same table header and table contents. The number of products (with the previously mentioned details and table) vary so I would like to write a macro that is not dependent on a set number of products. Each table varies in the number of rows but never contains empty cells and always ends with a row of empty cells. I want to delete all rows with the report name and have all products in one table with the brand, price and color added to the table header and contents.
I have an existing pivot table that is feeding from data in another sheet.
The data gets updated every month and sometimes their are more columns of data than the previous month. Everytime there are more columns they are not added into the pivot table when i refresh the table even though they are included in the range.
Is there are way the pivot table will add these new columns when i refresh the table without me having to manually drag them in?
I was wondering if there is any way possible to link your pivot table filters to filter the data the same way in the table that it comes from? So if i had date as one of my headers and i filtered the date to a specfifc date, is there a way to also filter the date in the data source sheet?
I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the souce data for a Pivot Table? Eg if I have the Pivot table looking at Columns A & B lines 1 - 20 and I want the Pivot to also include Column C and lines 21 - 50, how would I do this? for a chart I can just right click and select the "Source Data" option but it seems that this is not available for Pivot Tables.
A co-worker of mine set up a pivot table using data saved on an external data source on a shared drive. I would like to create a similar pivot table myself, linked to his pivot table so when he gets updated data, my pivot table also will update accordingly. My question has to do with the pivot table data source. How do I copy the connection?
I read your reply to the thread below, and used your Worksheet_Calculate routine from it. It only works for the first sheet in my workbook. I have multiple sheets in the workbook, and when I run the routine on an activesheet other than the first sheet in the workbook, it doesnt work.
Is there a way to get this routine to work on a worksheet other than the first one in the book?
How to show my data as % of grand total and include the filtered data. Whenever I filter out a category in my pivot table the % values adjust for everything unfiltered. Is there a way to have my percentages include the filtered data?
vba in excel 2013 pivot table that updates from an online CRM rows are a to h and it can be any number of rows. What I am trying to do is track progress. In column f values indicate probability for success 10 25 45 90, which can go up or down. The pivot table is refreshed to get the latest values from CRM. the update is handled by a connection to the crm not in the vba.
So far I been researching methods to conditionally format values that went up, down or remained the same since the last refresh with up down and across arrows. I have managed to piece together what I think should work but alas it is not. So I have come to you internet.
My code first clears any formatting and goes down the column avoiding null or empty cells, comparing the values in column f to values in column j. I have 3 conditions greater than, less than or equal to, and would like add an icon for each based on the result of the comparison.
Finally when it finishes the column the code copies the current values in the pivot table column f to column j outside the pivot table which i hope to be able to hide once the cf works. The code is below
I have a pivot table created. How do I determine which sheet it is pulling the data from, hence the source of the pivot table? Also, if can you go into source and modify data points, then in pivot table, will the results would be automatically modified with updated data points?
I've got a bit of a problem revealing pivot table source data, so just wondering if anyone know how to reveal it? My colleague sent me the spreadsheet, I can see the pivot table, but I can't find the source data that the pivot table links to.
I am using pivot tables/charts for drilldown reporting. After running a complex macro to consolidate multiple reports into one range, I need to generate pivot tables and charts.
These reports will change month to month in the number of entries they have (template will be identical), and therefore my data source range for the pivot table is bound to change. Therefore my question is, how to develop a macro that will dynamically change the source data range to the amount of rows?
why the data reference for a pivot table is changing after I email the workbook to a client. The source data and the pivot tables are all part of the same workbook and I can't understand why its saying can't find source data. Excel 2007 is being used on both computers.
