View 4 RepliesI am adding up the value of a range of cells in one cell. What I want is If the value of the cell which is adding up the values of the range of cells exceeds a particular number it should throw an error.
View 6 Replies View Relatedhow can I prevent an entry in a cell even without formula lets say cells B1 , C1 , D 1 , E1
I want to prevent an entry in these cell and if you try an error message will display
I have created a userform with 3 text boxes. It also has three buttons - clear, Cancel and Generate record button.
User form takes entries in the three text boxes and on clicking the Generate Record button, the values of the three Text Boxes are inserted in Column A, B and C of sheet1. The columns keep on populating with new data on each submit in the row below the last record.
Now it is required to enter data only if the value entered in TextBox1 is new and has not been entered previously in column A. If textbox entry is already aviailable in column A, a message box of 'Record available' shoud be prompted and the text entry must not be allowed until the data entered in TextBox1 is not unique.
I have a userform with several textboxes and 2 comboboxes. The data that I need protected from duplication is based in the comboboxes. If I ignore the other fields and presume the following it may be easier to understand:
The comboboxes are populated by the data stored in sheet1 and when the userform is complete, the OK button populates all the data into sheet2
Combobox1 contains names eg, John, Julie, Bob etc
Combobox2 contains colours eg, Red, Blue, Green etc
I want the userform to allow the data to be entered into sheet2 only if it is not an exact duplicate of the choices in BOTH of the comboboxes
For Example
John Red
Julie Red
Bob Blue
John Blue
These are all ok, however, to try and enter John Red again would bring up a message box indicating a duplicate entry and prevent the data from being entered.
Is it posible that when data or text is entered into a cell and the enter key is pushed that this can either run a macro or activate a hyperlink to go to another worksheet for user to follow further instructions?
OR instead of going to another worksheet a pop up message appears with instructions and then can be OK'd to remove message and proceed?
If A1 = "Yes"
Then don't allow input into cells B1 and C1. Or delete anything in B1 and C1 perhaps?
Cell A1 would be the result of a formula
How would I go about creating something like the above?
Is there anyway to turn off hyperlink. Everytime I put in an @ symbol in the cell and hit enter, it changes it to a hyperlink and changes the font and size. Is there anyway to turn this off or prevent this without having to click on the cell everytime and choose, remove hyperlink.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to complete a spreadsheet that will be shared by several users but have come across a slight problem. I need them to be able to enter text into blank cells but when the the text has been enetered for them not to be able to delete or edit it again in columns A & B. They should also not be able to delete rows or columns. I have tried with other peoples help but as soon as the spreadsheet becomes a shared document I get a run-time error 1004 when entering in any box
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working with text boxes in Excel that have hyperlinks attached to defined names on a worksheet. Basically just to navigate around a large sheet.
They work fine, but when the mouse is hovered over the text box it automatically displays the address of the defined name, which looks messy and I want to get rid of it.
I have tried inserting a single space in the screen tip box, but that displays a small rectangular box. I have also tried "" hoping nullstring maybe interpreted as not to display, but it instead displays the speech marks.
Has anybody done this before? I've seen it done, but I have no idea how the model creator did it.
How prevent duplicate when entry from list?

I have a huge worksheet with 26 columns and 1200 rows. This worksheet is updated by 4 people everyday. Column C, H, N & R are updated daily by these 4 people so these are dynamic columns so to speak. I would like to have a VBA that informs that particular individual when he enters a duplicate data, maybe a popup saying duplicate entry.

However, if an user changes the name of the worksheet from "New" to "SomethingElse", then the hyperlink breaks. How do I get the hyperlink to be automatically updated to "SomethingElse"?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a entry form in which i want to register customers. the first field is the customer number (which is unique(created by me) for every customer). This is TextBox 1 in the document. I would like to search for duplicates in worksheet 2, collumn A, when pressing "enter" to move from TextBox 1 to TextBox 2. A search for duplicates should start and a message should appear " duplicate found" if found, otherwise continue to TextBox 2 for further entry of information.
Please see my attached document for clarification.
i have data in a cell that i must view in the sheet and in the print area
but do not want it to print
On the uploaded workbook, Daily Nutrition Worksheet. How do I clear all the data to start fresh without deleting all the formula?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a formula which will enable typing (in cell A1) positive numbers between 0-1000000 but will prevent the user from leaving that cell in an empty state. Empty cell means: cell with space(s) or deleting the legitimate value that is, already, in it).
I must emphasize that I know how to handle this by VBA code and/or by using a "named" pre-defined list of values + un-checking the "ignore empty cell" option - but I would like to know, once and for all, the solution WITHOUT using Macro and/or 'List' (if any..)
I tried that, without success:
=AND(A1>=0,A1<=100000,NOT(ISBLANK(A1))
I set up a spread*** with drop-down menus for some of the cells. The user can only select values from that list and an error message pops up when something is typed it that is not in the list (via Data Validation
Error Alert).
So this works all fine ... except if the user copies and pastes a cell with a different drop-down menu into a cell overwriting the existing validation.
I cannot totally lock the work*** and if I lock the cells with the drop-down menus nothing can be changed. So how can I prevent this from happening? Is there a way to block all copy/paste operations that are copying the validation? I know that with the Paste Special I can have cells copied without the validation.
I have a percentage in R3.
If I make an entry in D13 then I want the R3 to be duplicated into C27 otherwise C27 should be 0.
I have this code that looks through my worksheet once the conditions are met it will email, and in column "M" I put a hyperlink to where the document is stored. All works as far as the email format, even grabs the hyperlink but it’s not clickable in the email.
Here is the code.
I am outlook 07 and vista 07.
Option Explicit
Const Startingrow = 11 'Data starts on row ##
Const AlarmDelay = 183 'send warning
Sub CheckTimeLeftFac()
'References needed :
'Microsoft Outlook Object Library
Dim i As Long
Dim j As Long
Dim msg As Long
Dim Lastrow As Long
Dim WhoTo As String
Dim SubjectLine As String
Dim MessageBody As String

Dim olApp As Outlook.Application
Dim strLink As String
I took a look around and noticed I can use the HYPERLINK command to link to a URL plus the contents of a different cell, such as something like =HYPERLINK(URL).
My question is, can I do a dynamic hyperlink that is smart enough to append whatever data is in the same cell to be the final part of the URL? Or do I HAVE to have another column where the hyperlink command is pointing to the first column as the variable?
For example I have a single column with either nothing in it or a 4 digit number. The 4 digit number is also the end of the URL I want it to link to. For example if the column says 1234, I would want it to go to [URL] .........
I have a question regarding hyperlinks. I created a combo box where if I select a product (s), the sales data will change in another cell by using the offset formula. I was wondering if there is a way where each data that changes in the cell can have a hyperlink to a different location in the workbook? Can you do this by a formula or only use of VBA?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a large list of values that only 1 value will be select at a time. I want to be able to click on the cell and have the value in the cell copied to another cell. Exactly like a link, but I need the data to go with it. In this case, a drop down box won't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Excel 2010. Is there any solution which cover requirements given below.
1) I've converted a range in to table format (using Format as Table)
2) Need to Prevent pasting on data validation cell.
3) Need to Prevent change in cell format after pasting data (other than data validation cells as mentioned above) from same workbook or other workbook
4) Need to insert row in the table as per requirement.
Basicaly what I am trying to accomplish is the use of a single cell to enter the values 1 thru 60, so starting at e2 for instance, if I enter the number 1 then cell f2 will populate with a 1, if I were to enter the number 18 then the cell w2 would populate with an 18. So the range of cells that need to populate in this example would be (f2:BM2) for row 2. Furthermore if I were to enter a -1 or a -18 in cell e2 then those numbers would be eliminated from the appropriate cells on row 2. The next 299 rows would need to perform the same way for a total of 300 user input rows.
The way that I'm imagining e2 would behave in the example would be...type a 1 then enter....18 then enter....31 then enter and so on. Columns f thru bm would locked and unselectable....so a tab should send me back to a3.
Reasoning.... this is a simple scoring system based on 60 codes and data integrity is very important and I want to eliminate as much human error as possible. I will be setting autofilters and such later on.
I am attaching a screencapture as well.
I want to lock cell after cell in a worksheet after data entry. Entering the data is what drives the locking of the cells. All cells with data are locked but those without are unlocked.

What I need is if A10 has any data in it then I want a box to pop up that instructs the user to input data into B10 they click OK and then enter the data. Once the user inputs data into B10 then the error should be cleared. If they don't enter data then the error should keep coming back.
