Prevent User Seeing Senstive Information In Hidden Rows/Columns

I have a feeling the answer to this will be 'no' based on the searching I've done, but is it possible to allow formatting of rows/columns on a protected worksheet, yet prevent the user from unhiding some rows/columns I don't want them to see? I've allowed them to format rows/columns so they can "size" them to fit the text they enter, but that has opened up the ability for them to unhide columns. Using Shrink To Fit would be cumbersome due to the number of cells involved.

Prevent Selection On Hidden Rows/Columns

One of the fields I want them to enter is a library branch and I have used a data vaslidation list to provide a dropdown box.

To make it act more like a windows drop down box I have hidden 7 cells above this box with the 7 possible entries. This means that with autocomplete, if they start typing in the cell it will autocomplete the entry for them.

This work fine, but if someone presses enter from the cell above my hidden rows, one of the hiddenn cells is selected!
WHY!

I have no explanation for this behaviour, nothing like it has ever happened before, and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

Prevent Hidden Columns Printing

I have a sheet that uses Blocks of cells eg: A1:X10,A12:X22 etc to hold data/text etc.

I am filling colums A to V with data and Ranking and summing them in W & X,
I don't need to show K, L M ...for example, until they are totally filled, so I hide them manually until needed.

Have a Macro to print "results" A1:X10,A12:X22 etc, and I set a "print area" or "print selected"...works fine to fit to 1x1 Page.

Problem: If I hide L, M, N etc, the macro runs fine but still uses the unhidden size of the selection to fit the page ie: I get A-B-C-D...-W-X as required, but the other half of the page is blank, because the size selected is for all including the hidden columns.

Q: How can I (Simply) print what's visable to 1x1 Page, fitting more in each time I unhide a column or two.?

Remove Hidden Rows And Columns

I have a spreadsheet with various hidden rows and columns that I do not wish the user to have access too as it contains too much detail for their purposes.

Copy/paste and copy/paste special also copies across the hidden columns and rows so what I need to do is to copy it to a new workbook but then remove the hidden rows and columns and just delete the existing formulas in the cells which total the data and insert a new autosum.

Prevent The User From Saving The Data Input From The User Form If Any Of Those Three Fields Is Left Blank

I have a user form that has a combo box "City" two text boxes one called "Flight" and the other "Date". What I'm trying to do is to prevent the user from saving the data input from the user form if any of those three fields is left blank. The code that I have so far checks all of the required fields, if any are left blank a message notifys which field(s) is left blank and return the focus back to that field. But the rest of code also fires.

What I really need is either to stop the code if any fields are blank and return the focus back to the blank field, the user completes the field(s) and clicks the save again, or better yet, pause the code until all the required fields are completed and then complete the save. (There is actually another 200+ lines of code in this sub, but I deleted it to keep the post a little shorter.)

Find & Replace In Hidden Rows Or Columns

I need to find, then replace a particular value ("/0"), however, some cells may be hidden. And I just discovered that I can not replace the value of a hidden cell! Am I missing something, or do I have to unhide the row/column that the cell is in and then replace it? ...this does not replace the "/0" with "0" if the row the cell is in is hidden.

I need to average the columns of data and ignore both hidden rows and zero values. I have tried writing if statements as well as the subtotal function. Both functions either ignore null values or hidden rows but not both.

Excel 2007 :: Subtotals With HIDDEN Rows AND Columns Given Some Criteria

I am trying to develop a compliance report with Excel 2007) based upon a simple pass/fail criteria. The subtotals must be tracked both by Device (column) and by Requirement (row). There are macros (not included in the attached sample) that hides both columns and rows. I successfully found an example which I modified to correctly calculates data for a column when rows are hidden (see GOOD function below). However, I'm totally clueless on how to calculate data by row when columns are hidden (see BAD function below). What I'm trying to figure out is highlighted in red in the attached spreadsheet.

GOOD

VBA To Add Rows Or Columns If Information Not Exist

I have a spreadsheet that contains overtime information for employees. Basically, it has a list of names in column A, and a list of projects in the first row, similar to this:

At the top of the page I've inserted a section similar to this:

Project Number
# Of Hours

SMITH, John

Where the name and project number are drop down data validation lists containing all of the project numbers and employees at our facility, and the # of hours section is just a manual entry.

I require a macro that, upon clicking a button, will verify that the name is in the list and insert a row if there isn't as well as verify the project is in the row and insert a column it isn't.. then it will add the number of hours i specified in the box. It would also be nice if the list of names would sort alphabetically and the project numbers would sort numerically from left to right after any additions. As well as clear the selections and # of hours I entered in the second table shown above once everything has been entered in to the main (first) table.

I'm pretty new to creating my own macros (even though im an engineer.. )

Sorting Columns And Keep Information In Rows Intact

I am trying to sort/filter the information by columns but I need the information in each row to stay together for instance...

2 3 4 5 1
3 4 5 1 2

I need to sort the numbers in column 3 in ascending order or filter them but i need the entire row to move when sorted so it needs to look like this

1 2 3 4 5
2 3 4 5 1
3 4 5 1 2

I am using the list function to sort and filter the data in the columns but when i try to sort them in ascending order i get....

1 2 1 4 5
2 3 2 5 1
3 4 3 1 2
4 5 4 2 3
5 1 5 3 4

I don't know how to write formulas or VBA's or anything but am willing to try.

Is it possible to sort the data and get a result like the second set of data? and is there an easy way to make this fool proof so people that use the spreadsheet will not mess up the data?

Prevent Unhiding Of Hidden Sheets

Regarding the age old problem of trying to ensure macros are enabled in a workbook, using the process of hiding all sheets bar one:

Reafid inserts some excellent code so that worksheets are hidden BOTH before closing AND on a normal Save event (I have also attached Reafid's zip file with the workbook that includes his/her code).

Having done much searching it seems to be the best solution out there, however I can still break it fairly easily and I'm worndering if anybody can stop me doing the following to break it:

Open the file in its restricted state (i.e. only Warning tab shown, all other sheets very hidden) and NOT enabling macros on opening. I'm therefore at the position Reafid intended; macros are disabled so all sheets are very hidden. Then to break it, in my personal macro workbook I have a simple macro that unhides all worksheets in ThisWorkbook, I run that personal macro and everything in Reafid's file is unhidden.

Reafid's file therefore has been opened with macros DISABLED and now all worksheets are visible.

Prevent Referencing Hidden Worksheet

I have a spreadsheet which I'm using as a log-in front for a series of other workbooks. The usernames and passwords are stored hidden cells within a "very hidden" worksheet. The workbook is protected and VBA code itself is password protected.

In short no-one can directly view the passwords (unless the password to unprotect it all is known.

What I have found is that someone can use a formula to reference the cells containing the user details. "=a1" for example.

Is the a method hiding the contents of a cell from excel itself? I want the vba script to be able to see the value, but any "=a1" formulas to return a blank.

How To Prevent User Error

I have a simple spreadsheet which requires a date (mm/dd/yy) in Column A. Columns B-F use formulas to break this date down into the month, quarter, year, etc. Users frequently need to add new rows at the top of the sheet just below the column headers.

To be sure the formulas in Columns B-F are included when adding new rows, I put together a simple macro which copies the top ten rows, inserts them at the top of the sheet, and then clears existing data from the new rows (keeping formulas intact).

I put a button on the sheet to run this macro. However, sometimes users insert new rows without using the macro. This results in no data in Columns B-F for these new rows because the formulas weren’t copied.

How can I prevent this from happening? If I protect the sheet and prevent users from inserting new rows, the macro won’t run. Is there something I can add to the macro that will allow it to run properly while the sheet is protected? Below is the macro code.

How can I prevent a user from opening another workbook in an Excel session "from the outside"?

I'm fairly new to VB. I'm developing (in VB 2003) a simple but SECURE Excel environment which will allow a user to update a hidden Master_Records workbook. I need to keep the user's Excel session secure...for example, I've disabled all Excel Toolbars and Command Buttons, effectively preventing the user from doing anything except filling in some cell values and clicking on a few custom buttons in the worksheet. But how can I prevent the user from opening another workbook into the active session from his desktop and introducing some malicious code into the session via that route?

One respondent in another forum (the only one, in fact) suggested that I look into "instantiating workbook level events" so that I can detect when other workbooks are open. I'm not sure what that means, is there someone here who could give me some guidance into that solution?

Prevent The User From Scrolling In A Sheet?

I have an Excel sheet that displays 50 rows and 20 columns when it is opened the first time. These rows and columns are the only ones that I want the user to be able to see. The user shouldn't be able to navigate the sheet by using the scroll bars or the wheel on the mouse. I have of course already removed the scroll bars but I don't know how to handle the scroll wheel problem.

I have a userform which puts information in a main sheet, however there are 6 other sheets which the user may need to use to give detail on aspects of their main. so on my main form I have 6 buttons which call other user forms and hide the one for the main. However there are 3 mains as their are three different groups. So when done with the secondary user form and the user chooses to close the form I would like it to check to see if for instance frmInput1, frmInput2, or frmInput3 are open and just hidden. If it finds one that was open and hidden bring it back to view.

I am using following code to effect a change which works fine:

Check User Input To Prevent Run-Time Error

what I want. It relies on an input box asking the user to enter a part code, which when found creates a duplicate copy. However, if the user enters a part that doesn't exist I get a run-time error. Can anybody point me in the right direction so when a user enters an incorrect part they get a message telling them it doesn't exist.

User Form To Put Information Into A Spreadsheet

I am trying to do is create and link and user form to put information into a spreadsheet. Layout of the form is done but I'm not sure how to link the cells. Also, there are some cells pre-filled that should show up on the form but I don't want the user to change those (columns a,b,c - guessing i will protect those).

Would be great if the user could navigate rows within the form so I included buttons for previous and next entries (this feature would be very similar to the built-in data form that excel provides). My sample spreadsheet is attached.

Check Before Pasting User Input Information

i am writing a program that asks the user for an input and sets it equal to a variable.

i want to look thru a column for this variable, if it is not in it, then paste it at the end of the column. if it is in already, throw up a dialog box saying its already used and exit the sub.

i dont know how to set up this kind of thing up???
