I need to create random numbers with 10 columns and 10 rows.
But for each line can not be the number opposite each decade.

see the first line was generated as the number 79, then this same line, can not generate the number 97.
number 22 in this case is OK.
The first line was generated the number 84, then this is not the same line, you can generate the number 48.
The first line was generated the number 07, then this is not the same line, you can generate the number 70.

I have a column of data I would like to have reversed on the fly (use functions and not vba). I have a function that works for the first cell but I can't seem to get it to work for the rest of the column when I choose edit/Fill Down.
=OFFSET(GI_Norm_list,MAX(ROW(GI_Norm_RevList))-ROW(),0)
where:
GI_Norm_list = column O
GI_Norm_RevList = Column V
I copy =OFFSET(GI_Norm_list,MAX(ROW(GI_Norm_RevList))-ROW(),0) to cell V1 and it works fine. I choose edit/fill down and I get #REF for every other cell. I seem to be doing this wrong somehow.
I want to simply flip the last name and first name in a column for alphabetical sorting purposes.
The names start in A4 and continue down and look exaclty like the format below including some middle initial or full name:
John Doe - $5,000.00
Jane Doe - $7,000.00
Tommy Chong - $50,000.00
Billy Bong - $25,000.00
Dave T Jones - $5,000.00
Alex Lee Johnson -$100,000.00
I want it to simply swap the first and last name order to look like this:
Doe, John - $5,000.00
Doe, Jane - $7,000.00
Chong, Tommy - $50,000.00
Bong, Billy - $25,000.00
Jones, Dave T - $5,000.00
Johnson, Alex Lee - $100,000.00
Is there a way to reverse the order of data in a column - and maintain that same order but in reverse - so the last value in the column becomes the first, the second last value becomes the second, etc.

I know there is a way to do this, but I can't remember how! I have one cell (actually, thousands of cells) where the first name is listed and then the last name. I want to reverse the text so the last name appears first, and then the first name appears last, in the same cell. That way, I can alphabetize the columns by last name.
Can i take a name that is in "normal" order and change it so that it is in the format of "Lastname, Firstname Middlename" regardless of how many names are represented?
I have used a simple concatenate formula along with some left/right formulas to get this working if every single person in the list has only their first and last name, but I get errors if the person has 3 or more names listed.
So what I want, is a formula that will turn these names:
Carl Johnson
Carl Robert Johnson
Carl Joseph Robert Johnson
into these names:
Johnson, Carl
Johnson, Carl Robert
Johnson, Carl Joseph Robert
I accidentally replaced all my formulas from a format of:
=A1
to:
''''=A1
I would like to return to the original form:
=A1
However the Find/Replace command does not seem to recognize the first single quote.
My colleague copies a date to the clipboard and then pastes it back onto the same spreadsheet. The month and day reverse (01/12/2013 becomes 12/01/2013). This doesn't happen when copying 14/12/2013 (probably because it can't be interpreted two ways) nor when avoiding the clipboard with ctrl-C/ctrl-V.
My working theory is that it's some kind of autotext or formatting function. Is there a way to disable this feature/function/glitch?
Is it possible to take a list that is alphabetized in the following manner--Jones, Mary--, convert it to Mary Jones while also removing the comma after the name?
The =TRIM and =MID formulas that I saw in another thread both seem to convert the text, but they also leave the comma at the end.

I have a mass of data which look something like this:
table removed
and I require the ranges of reference numbers to be listed in a column one above the other, which requires inserting new rows. I also need the date & description columns copied down into the newly inserted rows.
So basically for example I would want the top row to now read:

and then apply the same procedure to the other ranges below this.
This is what I need:
Columns B, C, D & E are all populated with 3 digit numbers.
I would like column F to automatically populate with any of the 3 digit numbers that share two numbers, i.e.
F2 might look like this (using 00 as the pair):

F3 might look like this (using 01 as the pair):
701, 051, 110, 001, 120
F4 might look like this (using 12 as the pair):
123, 721, 281, 912, 112, 120
etc...
Say column A has either numbers or text in each cell, I need a macro to only get each number in each cell that is not a duplicate of a number in any previous cell and list each number found down column B.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a spreadsheet with about 400 rows and 10 columns. All the numbers in the columns are formatted as text, which doesn't allow me to use AutoSum. I have selected the cells and formatted them as number with no decimals, but AutoSum still doesn't work because the formatting hasn't changed and they're still formatted as text. I know if I double click each cell, the cell changes the format from text to number, but that will take a lot of time to change 400 cells in each of the 10 columns. What can I do to quickly reformat the cells from text to number?

What I want to do is find a list of invoice numbers in column B populated from a remittance, and then replace column F to say a specific thing depending on check number and date paying for that invoice. So if a check printed today I would have it replace column f to say paid 1/31/13 check # xxxxx. Currently I am searching for each invoice indivudually and then replacing with check number and date. There are about 200 invoices per month that I deal with, and it is a big waste of time!

How would you set up a macro to delete numbers in a spreadsheet in one column that appear in another column or worksheet?
In other words, if I have the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10 in one column and in the same column, or another column or worksheet I have the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 - I need a way to delete 1,2,3,4,5. I know how to delete duplicates via the advanced filter but I want to have the duplicate and original deleted.
In Column A I have numbers ranging from 0 to 500, I want to consolidate these in column B or C to pull through all numbers >0.
I have a formula but its pulling through everything except for the blanks:

I have a worksheet which basically tracks time. the time is reported in Column C. In that row in Column E, there is a validation list with about 6 different categories in it. On the side of this "table" I have a list of all the categories and I want a value to be next to it that reports the sum of time (C) for each category (E).
So for the "Routing" category, I would want the value to be the sum of just data on the timesheet that have "routing" in Column E.
Column A contains numbers 0, 2, 0, 0, 5, 6, 0, 8 (in cells A1 - A8 respectively)
Can I write a formula to make column B contain only the non-zero numbers (2, 5, 6, 8 in cells B1 - B4 respectively)?
I have a spreadsheet which will be completed by numerous users, with a worksheet reserved for each area. The spreadsheet is to record the number of days lost to training etc on a weekly basis.
Each worksheet has 3 columns – column A DESCRIPTION, column B WEEK COMMENCING DATE and column C DAYS LOST.
The table will be completed by the manager’s as the info becomes available to them.
I will be collating the data on another worksheet and need a formula that will look in column B for all instances of 01/10/07 and then sum the corresponding cells in column C, then do the same for 08/10/07 and so on.
I have attached an example of a page.
I thought it may be VLookup or Sumif, but I don’t know how to go about it.
