Search/Find Multiple Cell Values On Another Worksheet
May 20, 2008
I have three parameters that users on my spreadsheet will be using. They will be searching using the 'Brand', 'MPAN' and 'Tariff' fields.I would like to have drop down menu's for then to select the correct search option. I then have another sheet within the same workbook with all the data in it with columns headed of Brand', 'MPAN' and 'Tariff'. It has to be an excat match using those three parameters though. I would like the parameters the user selects on the first sheet to be searched and found on the second sheet, with the figures in the cells next to the search result getting fed back into a set cells back on the first page.
As in attached file, I have 5 tables: Table 1: matrix that contains Weight data in each cell Table 2: matrix that contains Code data in each cell Table 3: Relationship between Code and Level data Table 4: Table with relationship between Weight data, Code data and Level data Table 5: I want to populate each cell in Table 5 matrix from getting values from Table 4 by looking up the right value from Table 5 based on : 1) Weight data from corresponding cell in Table 1 2) Code data from corresponding cell in Table 2 3) Code and Level relationship.
for e.g. to get value for Table 5, Worksheet cell B140 ( intersection of A1-A1), 1) corresponding weight is 1.17 as in Table 1 (Weight data) (Worksheet cell B3) 2) corresponding Code is 6 as in Table 2 (Code data) (Worksheet cell B35) 3) Code 6 corresponds to Level 2 (as seen in Table 3)(Worksheet cell A74)
so, looking up the 3 values from Table 4 i.e. Level 2, Code 6, Weight 1.17, one gets cell AR98 with corresponding value. therefore, final value in Table 5, Worksheet cell B140 (intersection of A1-A1) will be equal to $4.00
I have been trying to solve this using Vlookup, Hlookup, Index/Match but am getting confused. Also, not too sure if this can be done in 1 step. New to these excel and these functions
I tried both IF and LOOKUP and failed. I'm trying to search for values from one worksheet and identify whether or not those values exist in another worksheet. I attempted the following lookup in field A2:
=LOOKUP(B2,Sheet3!A$2:A$914,Sheet3!C$2:C$914)
B2 (thru B5000 or so) contains values I want to search for; sheet3!A$2:A914 is where I want to look and column C of that same sheet, entered the text "Yes" in an attempt to have the results list "Yes" for hits and N/A for misses. (All fields are text.) I copied the formula all the way down the sheet in column A. The result it is returning is N/A in A2 and Yes in A2 -to the bottom, which is incorrect.
I have a workbook with 4 worksheet that store different type of data. It also has a userform that load at start of the application which is to search the data in the workbook. The userform has a combobox where the names of the sheets are stored. when the user selects say Sheet2 in the combobox, it enables the relevant textboxes on the userform and activates the worksheet at the change event. The userform has a search button that searches all the worksheets based on the text entered in a textbox.
The problem: how to search based on 1 textbox. What I want is: say for e.g the end-user selects sheet2 from the combobox, this intern enables 4 textboxes (Name, DOB, Nationality, ID #) on the userform. The end-user should have the liberty to enter data in 1 and/or any of the textboxes. The search should be performed, that if data is only in 1 of any of textboxes then give all rows that fit that criteria and display in a temp worksheet. if say the name and dob is filled by the user than what matches both should be displayed in a temp worksheet. if say dob, name and ID# given so the search button should narrow down to fit all 3 criteria and then display result in temp worksheet. As if mentioned data can be entered in either just 1 or any or all textboxes.
E.g. the worksheet is (Columns are Name, Nationality, DOB, ID#)
row 1 = name: Steven Martin, DOB: 27-may-1993, Nationality: Trinidad & Tobago, ID #: 1234567 row 2 = name: Gary Richards, DOB: 2-FEB-1993, Nationality: British, ID #: 456789 row 3 = name: David Cohen, DOB: 27-May 1993, Nationality: American, ID #: 98765 row 4 = name: Roberto McDonalds, DOB 21-Jul-1962, Nationality: British, ID # 654321 row 5= name: Gary Richards, DOB: 01-Dec-1978, Nationality: Australian, ID # 1234567
Now if the user enters only name as "Gary Richards" and search then row 2 and 5 should be displayed in a temp worksheet. if user enters name Roberto McDonald and ID# 1234567 then it should not display anything. if user enters DOB 27-may-1993 and nationality British and ID # 1234567 then as well shouldn't display anything and should a msgbox "no data found".
I am looking to find a cell value on a spreadsheet that has cells with multiple values listed in it. For example. If I CTR F for i.e. (745) on a spreadsheet that has this value in a cell that contains i.e. (684, 362, 745, ABC) all in one cell I get a no results. Ultimatelly, I'd like to run a Vlookup function on this file.
I need one formula to copy and paste the checkcard data changing it from this "CHECKCARD XXXXXX5623" to "CHECKCARD 5623", but I need one formula to look for multiple known checkcard numbers. I will have more then one typically in the bank download so I need to search and copy at least two known numbers as shown below.
I am providing the formula that I am using right now, "=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("5623",B3)),RIGHT(B3,41),"")" but it only works for one checkcard number? Also I don't really need to capture the DEBIT or CREDIT that will always be at the end, it would be redundant. If it's easier to write the formula including that data that is no problem. What I want to copy and move into an adjacent cell is in red.
Here is the source data: Row 2 - SONIC DRIVE IN#1531 AUSTIN TXDEBIT FOR CHECKCARD XXXXXX5623 DEBIT Row 3 - JASON'S DELI # 125 Q64 AUSTIN TXDEBIT FOR CHECKCARD XXXXXX9718 DEBIT
I have over 200 worksheets within 1 workbook, is there a way to search or find a specific worksheet by its name? I've tried the find option, clicked search in workbook but it only searched cells within the different worksheets of the workbook and not the title (tabs) of the worksheets.
I would simply like a Macro to 'find' or search keyword data in a spreadsheet and copy the chosen rows and past them into a new excel sheet. I want to be able to do that as many time as I need, currently I have the following code, it does not seem to work well for me, I can only use it to search one time, cause an error after that
Sub FindIt() Dim rngWB As Range, c As Range Dim strFind As String, firstAddress As String Dim wsCount As Integer, ws As Integer Dim rw As Long strFind = Application.InputBox("Type in the name you wish to find.", "FindIt", Type:=2) Application. ScreenUpdating = False Worksheets.Add(After:=Worksheets(Worksheets.Count)).Name = "Blank" Sheets(1).Select...................................
I'm looking to use the Find function in order to search through a protected worksheet. Currently I can use it to search, however, I am unable to click on the results to bring me to each instant.
Code: Dim i As Long Dim LastRow As Long Dim wsEachSheet As Worksheet Const strDestSheetName As String = "Hold Tickets" Const strDestSheetName2 As String = "Enter Order"
[Code] ........
I don't want to show the location as being the worksheet "Hold Tickets" so i had to remove it from the search, But the data is still important
I need a macro code that will locate the data in "another sheet" and return the values from there, but if it is also present in the worksheet "Hold tickets" then
This part of the code will need to look like this:
I am having trouble getting my IF statement to test if the cell contains the text "sale" return "X" if not "Y". I need it to search through the text string in that cell and find a certain word, and if it finds that word, retrn a value. I am really having difficulty with is what symbol or function do I use for the logical test? (i.e. =, <>, MATCH, INDEX?)
I am working with a macro into which you input a date, the macro searches for that date (in column D of the data sheet), then copies any row with that date onto a new sheet.
This works great, but now I need to be able to search for more than one date at a time and return any rows that cantain ANY of those dates. For example, I would want to search for any row containing 01/01/07 - 01/07/07 or any row containing 01/01/07, 01/02/07, 01/03/07...01/07/07.
Is it possible to search for multiple values (and present the result in a certain cell) within a range that spreads over two columns? For example: between A10 to A15 and B1 to B10.
I am trying to create a report that I can enter the codes I am looking for and the formula will search the sheets within the report and once the results are found then find the average of those results.
What I am trying to do is search the codes from Sheet 1 under Outlet and ESA(in Blue) in sheet A,B and C. The problem is the ESA code seen in column I of A,B,C is only used when column L is empty in A,B,C.
Once the relevant codes are found I then need to look for the KPI's seen in sheet 1 B4, B6 and B8, they can be found in A,B,C in column R. then the result comes from column S in A,B or C.
Once the result is found for each code I want to find the average of them, with the answer to populate in yellow in sheet 1
I want the formula to be able to handle more or less codes as well as adjust the formula so I can add more sheets(possible D,E,F,G etc)
I am using the following code to find a NAME in my work sheet and to enter their status. But this macro is not compatible if a duplicate or Similar name exist. What I need is I need this macro to activate the search NAME Cell and then a VB box with OK & NEXT button has to appear. if the activated NAME is exactly the one I am searching, then I will click the OK button then it should display the "Enter Employee Status" box and as continue in my code, But If I press NEXT, the macro should search the next similar NAME and activate it, This process should continue until I click the OK button. (Same like CTRL+F function with an additional Status entry button)
Code: Sub Button1848_Click() Application.ScreenUpdating =False Dim BeginCol AsLong
Starting with one worksheet with end date as one of the columns. I filtered the worksheet with end date > (certain date) and copied the results to a second work sheet.
The original worksheet has all courses with end dates from 1998 to 2009. The second worksheet has all courses with end dates > 2004.
How do I find out which courses have end < 2004. But do not also have an end date > 2004.
What I am trying to do is determine which courses are not longer being used since 2004.
Any method to determine the number of instances a value ("4" for example) appears next to a specific value ("x" for example). I don't have a workbook; I'm just looking for any formula that can search for specific values and find the total number of instances that an adjoining cell contains data.
Below is my current code. The strFind1 searches for a name within the database and then I need strFind2 to do a exact for a Subproject search and a partial search for everything containing the Subproject selected and other Subprojects. Currently, when the database entry in the worksheet includes Subproject 1 the search function works but when I have an entry that contains Subproject 1/Subproject 4 it does not find the entry. How can I expand the strFind2 to equal what is selected in the Combobox2 and find entries that have what is selected plus more text. I have set the line where I think everything is going wrong to a bold format.
Rep Name is Column J Row 5. I need to find multiple columns based by the header which is row 5, if column range (j5:az5) is "Video - Actual" then copy column to sheet "Data", this needs to be repeated for about 8 more times for different criteria
Rep NameBundle - TargetBundle - ActualVideo - TargetVideo - ActualJoe, Jane 2.06.06.04.0Smith, John 7.010.02.06.0Tucker, Chris 19.039.05.017.0Sandler, Adam 15.011.06.010.0Iglesias, Gabriel 8.03.06.010.5Smith, Will 8.03.06.06.5Powers, Austin 10.025.07.09.0
I'd like to extract the data from Sheet 2 (Data) that falls within the selected date range but the formula I've entered in F$9 (see below) is giving me an error
I want to enter a value in a textbox, search for it in an worksheet, and populate other textboxes with adjacent values if the value is found. Anyway, the problem is that if the value is not found, I get a debug error.
I'm sure there's far better code to do what I need, but I tried to keep it simple. With the above code, it only works if the value is found. If it's not, I get an error. So how do I make it so that if the value is not found, the value of the textbox2 is "Not Found" or something...
I have a workbook that contains 18 sheets of data. These worksheets are named according to their respective client names (AAA Shine, Fern Barn, Oracle, etc. for example). On each of these sheets, is a column (Column B), that has a salesperson's name in it (Fred, Joe, Ted, Anne... there are about 10 names total). On each sheet, there are corresponding values for the revenue from that account for each month of the year. Those values appear in Column L (Jan), M(Feb), N(Mar),... W(Dec).
What I would like to have is formula that will look at each sheet, find all the instances of Fred for January, sum them, and report them in a single cell on a different sheet I have called "Summary". The end result will be a total revenue from all customers, for each sales person, by month, in one summary sheet.
How to create a macro to search a value and delete the row but I'm having trouble trying to get this to search multiple values. Keep in mind I'm really new at attempting to create a macro so this may look terrible ;-)
I have a list of 20 numbers (changes from time to time) and I need to filter any row containing any one of these numbers out of my results each day. I am currently able to filter a single group of numbers but get an end error every time I attempt to string a group of numbers.
This is what I have so far and is an example. We'll use three numbers as an example.
"12345","12346","12347" are the numbers that we'll use for the example that I need to filter. The code that I have is:
Attached is a sample workbook, but essentially what I'm looking to do is automate the process of searching through a data set where the value of interest (in this case, names) often has multiple entries, with different values attached to each instance.
I would like to be able to get a list of all values in a given column that match a specific name in another column.
Currently I'm using a basic INDEX/MATCH search just to see whether the data exists at all, but that's only half of what I have to do here, and I'm totally stumped on how to get a comprehensive list of all matches.
For reference, if you look at the sample, what I need is a list of all values in the "CPT" column that match the name searched for in the first column.
The actual data set size is at most 3-400 entries, if that makes a difference in how to approach this.
I am having such a difficult time creating a macro that will reduce the 5+hours I have to spend each week manually copying & pasting all of this data. I making an IMMENSE difference in this worker bee's life!
I have a workbook with two sheets (Sheet1 & Sheet2). Sheet1 has license #'s in column A and the state that the license belongs to in column B like this:
COLUMN ACOLUMN B11111Alaska11112Alabama11113Arkansas11114Arkansas Sheet2 has three columns. Column A has the license #'s, column B has the state that the license belongs to and Columns C shows a line-of-authority tied to that license #.
I'm trying to write a macro that will compare the license # and state in Sheet1 to the license # and state in Sheet2. If it matches, append the contents of Column C to the corresponding row in Sheet1.
Here's the thing...Sheet2 contains the entries for all licenses in the company (so this table is HUGE). And there are multiple entries for each state license # (notice how there's two entries above for AK license # 11111 - one for the Property line and one for the Casualty line.
After my macro is run, I want Sheet1 to show all the lines-of-authority on a single line. So if I ran my macro on the above example, after it's run I would have this in Sheet1:
COLUMN ACOLUMN BCOLUMN C11111AlaskaProperty Casualty11112AlabamaProperty Casualty11113 ArkansasLife Health11114ArkansasLife Health
Each Cell in Column A has a different long text string.
I need to see which (if any) of 10 specific small text strings exist within each long text string. Depending on which small text string is found I want to return a 3 digit code. If no small text string is found I want to return "Not Found"
E.g.: - Cell A2 contains "randomtext, randomtext,APPLE,randomntext" - I want to see if Cell A2 contains any of the words APPLE, ORANGE, CARROT. - I want to return "APP", "ORG", "CAR" or "Not Found"
Q: What is the most elegant way to accomplish this within a single formula that I could paste into each cell in Column B?
Attempting to find identical values in cells B3 & B4 located in another worksheet titled "Density Chart" and to return the value in cell/column D.
The Density Chart values are located in column A & B and the value I want returned, depending on the criteria entered would be found on the same row but in column D.
Example...
Changeable Value in B3 = A123 (can also be completely alpha value and will be different values each time the formula is used. Changeable Value in B4 = 2.00 (always numeric value)
