Search Sheets For Value & Return Sheet Number When Found
Feb 16, 2008
i have a workbook with several sheets in it. i would like to make a userform were i could put a number in a text box eg E045698.then use a command button to search all the worksheets for that number and display the sheet number where that number is in another textbox.
I have a workbook containing multiple sheets for documents issued to manufacturers. I have a summary sheet which contains all of the documents and I would like to be able to look up a document number against all the sheets, and return the name (or names if multiple finds) of the sheets containing this document.
I have got close to solving this by finding another post[URL] .... but I believe this doesn't work because it searches on values rather than matching text.
I have attached a simplified example file with the sheets to search being Fab 1, Fab 2 and Fab 3, and the formula need to go into column B of the Main Sheet.
In a large spreadsheet that receives external data, I have codes (U, N or V) allocated at various times to different rows as shown in sample worksheet attached. Elsewhere in the spreadsheet, I need to display (for later export) these codes along with their respective number in a sorted list. Please review the attached:
In the spreadsheet you'll see a column of codes, the next column is the data reference number, then to the right is three columns, one for each code. As displayed in the sample book attached, each Code column is to display the data reference number (from column 2)that matches that column's code.
What formula can I use to list these numbers in the appropriate columns?
I found some useful code for copying specific worksheets into a new workbook based on the sheet name, which I have not been able to alter to suit my needs.
I have a workbook that has a Master Sheet that contains a summary of each claim (Name, type of claim, dates, dollar amounts, etc.) and a sheet for each specific claim.
I know I can use the filter feature on the master sheet to view all of the physical damage claims (and one column has a hyperlink to the worksheet for that specific claim). But every month I have to create a report that shows each type of claim, dates, and so on.
I would like to create a macro that can copy the worksheets to a new workbook based on the type of claim it is. I'm thinking something like for each ws in wb if range ("F15") = 1 & .range ("B4") < 30 days from today copy that sheet into a new wb.
Below is a generic and far smaller version of my workbook. The name column contains my hyperlinks to the specific sheet. Each sheet is also named based on the text in the name column (so John Doe's sheet would be named 'John Doe') and so forth.
I have the following code to search for serial numbers.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim Message, Title, Default, SearchString Message = "Enter Serial Number" ' Set prompt. Title = "Find Serial Number" ' Set title. Default = "" ' Set default. ' Display message, title, and default value. SearchString = InputBox(Message, Title, Default)
'SearchString = "Rob" Set S = Sheets.Application For Each S In Application.Sheets With S.Range("A1:IV65536") Set f = .Find(SearchString, MatchCase:=True, LookAt:=xlWhole, LookIn:=xlValues) If Not f Is Nothing Then f.Offset(, 3) = Date Exit For End If End With Next S
End Sub I would like to amend this so that (a) if the serial number is not found I get a message box saying "Serial number not found" and (b) if the serial number is found, I would like it to highlight the relevant row (after inserting the date).
I am trying to search through column "I" for numbers that are decimals, when the first decimal is found, use the row number that the first decimal appears in the string that populates the bookmarks stored in a word template I have created. The code I have so far checks for the decimal and then populates the bookmarks, however it requires me to input the ranges manually, meaning I can set them as the first row in my tabel. But if the decimal appears in the second row and not the first I'm bookmarking the wrong data. Here is the code I have so far;
Working with an existing macro from this forum. How do I create the array showing the number of sheets found? I know from a MsgBox that two sheets are found.
on one sheet we have a summary of the main list, which includes totals of money recieved, totals of all the different sources (ie, where they heard about us from), the totals of the frequencies they pay (ie, how many donate monthly, quarterly...) ... etc. on the next sheet we have the "main" list of donors, their IDs, amounts, frequency, source ...
the totals on the first sheet are updated manually, but i want to change that as there are a great number of errors.
Create a macro button in 'Spreadsheet 2' that searches 'Spreadsheet 1' for updated information specific to a certain criteria and adds it to a new row in 'Spreadsheet 2.'
There are three sheets
Prospects (where all original data is entered)
Actions -Bob (Bob's new Prospects are added to this sheet)
Actions -Frank (Frank's new Prospects are added to this sheet)
So in this example Row 6 in Prospects (Constituents, Rating, Manager and Solicitor would be added to ACTION - Bob's sheet on Row 5 and Row 8 in Prospects (Constituents, its Rating, Manager and Solicitor would be added to ACTIONS - Frank sheet on Row 5
Here is the example spreadsheet - Prospects and Actions.xlsx
I have a sheet named formula the column highlighted in orange will be used in searching to the other sheet which is the table, I try to used the formula VLOOKUP but it didnt work.
I have a Excel file with alot of data in it. I need a macro that will create a report for me and relive me from alot of manual work. The 1st sheet is named "Projects". This contains the search arguments. The 2nd sheet is named "Database". This is the sheet where I want to search in. The 3rd sheet is named "Report". This will contain the results of the search. So the going will be something like this:
Copy row 7 from "Projects" into row 7 in "Report". Then use the value in that row, column E (named Search code). Search for rows that has this value in column E in the "Database" sheet. Copy all those rows to "Report" sheet. Copy row 8 from "Projects", leave two rows of space and paste into "Report". Repeat the procedure mentioned above. Repeat this until reaching a row in "Projects" that has no value in Column A.
I have a monthly report. Worksheets for each month, each row is a type of fruit (column A), and the number sold (column B). A new worksheet is added each month with the information. I also have a Summary worksheet - running total of all months: Type of Fruit (column A), Number sold (column B), and Total of all fruits - number sold. I would like a formula for the Summary worksheet - to match that fruit (column A) to any of the other worksheets - matching the fruit (column A), and bring back the number sold (column B). (note some apples are Fuji and some are Honey crisp - those would be totaled together)
ex: Tab = Jan 14 Fuji apples3 Bananas2 grapes9 TOTAL14
I've got an Excel document with over 323 entries and I need to search the data to find where ever a certain keyword is mentioned and copy the entire row into a separate sheet within the same workbook. However, I have a list of around 323 keywords and there is AND condition as well.so doing this using Ctrl+F would take some time.
The data is in Sheet "Training Dataset" and the particular column that needs to be searched is Column "A" . "Training Dataset" is the sheet where I would like the found results to be copied to in the column B and C. The list of Keywords that need to be searched for are located in Sheet "Keywords" , starting from Cell C and D.
I have a workbook with 50+ sheets. Within each sheet are rows of data in column A that I'd like to search for specific text.
I'd like to search each row from every sheet for specific words (e.g. "7 days" AND "Monday" AND "Tuesday" etc.) then copy the entire row containing all my search text in a new sheet on column A along with the name of the sheet it was found in in column B and the row number it came from in column C.
What I am trying to accomplish is to search through all the sheets and post results in new sheets for each search string.
I use the following formula in excel 2007 (and it's working perfectly in 2007) but this formula does not work if I work with the same file in excel 2003 ...w why and what I have to adjust?
I've got two worksheets ("June" & "July"). On both worksheets, column A is comprised of ID numbers and column B contains dollar amounts. I need to compare the ID numbers in Column A on each worksheet, and if they match I want to copy the ID number and the amount to a third worksheet ("Results").
I am working on an existing large excil file with over 60 sheets. What I want to do is create a search box on the first page, our "main menu." The search is for an product ID Number and then will open up the sheet in which that ID # is associated with.
I have the following text BKG 4.0 CL G 3210x2550 LS 28 PKGL NE BKG 6.0 CL G 3210x2250 LS 25 PKGL NE FAB 6.0 AB G 3300x2440 LS 16 FOP 4.0 BZ G 3210x2250 LS 28 FWH10.0 WH L 3210x2550 LS 9
I need a formula which searches within the text to find "LS" and then to return the number after it, this would be either 1 or two digits.
I am thinking if there was a forma that searched for "LS " (Note the space) and then returned the next two digits from the left from the found search ("LS ". I have attached a spreadsheet.
I manage to do a proper search and the return value is correct, but the problem is when I don't get the correct value excel gives me an error, what I can add to make the result just to give me MsgBox "Not found"?
Code below:
Set Ran = Worksheets(2).Range("A:A").Find(CompName, lookat:=xlPart) If Not Ran Is Nothing Then MatchRow = Ran.Row MatchCol = Ran.Column End If
I am looping in Excel to find "NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES". IF found I want to go up one row and replace the first 4 digits with " 9ZZ". The Line 1 data will alway be different so I just want to replace the first 4 digits. I don't want it to effect the rest of the line.
Example: Line 1 - 100 6300 BRCH TOTALS Line 2 - NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES
RESULTS NEEDED:
Line 1 - 9ZZ 6300 BRCH TOTALS Line 2 - NUMBE OF EMPLOYEES
I have a workbook with a sheet for every month. I have a searchbox searching for a client and jumping to that location. The problem I am having is that it takes me to the last occurence in the workbook if there is more that one client with the search criteria. Do you have any suggestions for a searchbox that whould take me to the first occurence and give me an option to go to the next occurence in the workbook. Please see the code below that I am using currently using.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim cl As Range, rng As Range For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets
Set rng = ws.UsedRange With rng Set cl = .Find(Me.TextBox1.Value, LookIn:=xlValues)
I need a VBA code that will search column H for any value that DOES NOT start with "9" (this is a character field). If it finds a cell that doesn't start with "9", I would like it to delete the entire row. It will need to repeat this process for every cell in Column H that has a value and then stop.
Dim ws As Worksheet ThisWorkbook.Activate For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets ws.Activate If Left(ws.Name, 5) = "Sheet" Then Range("B2:G" & ws.UsedRange.Rows.count).Copy Sheets("Rev New").Range("B1").Insert xlDown End If Next ws End Sub
So far I have this as a code but it seems to only paste the last sheet at the top ....
I have data in cells B2:E2 and this can go down 100+ rows.
In column B i have invoice numbers but some cells contain the word "Deposit".
I have sorted this data so that the invoice numbers appear first and then all the Deposits.
I need a code to find the first instance of the word "Deposit" and to insert a row so that all the invoices and Deposits are seperated by a single row.
I need a VBA script that can display a search box on multiple sheets within the same workbook similar to using ctrl + F and search values in column B only. If there is text or the row happens to be empty then it should skip that and only search numbers. Also the numbers in column B range from 50000 to 89000 and if there is a wrong number entered then I want to have a pop up box saying Error: invalid value or something like that.
Sub search_box() Range("B49000").Select Cells.Find(What:="some#", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlValues, LookAt:= _ xlWhole, SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _ False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate Cells.FindNext(After:=ActiveCell).Activate End Sub
