Select Next Column After Data Input Into InputBox
Jul 18, 2009
Here is my delimma. I am using the standard InputBox for my users to input the number of errors found for each category in a record from a daily report. The problem I having is that every time the user types in data using the InputBox it overwrites the previous days numbers. I need to set up the InputBox code so that after the user has input the numbers for that day that the next time the InputBox is used it selects the next column to the right and continues to do this for each day.

I have 02 separate excel workbooks
01 = source file
02 = data list
The workbook "source file" contains all the data
The workbook "data list" contains data for work with Drop-down list. And i can easily select my required description by just dropping down the list.
In case, i have new description i add it in the source file and it is updated in the working "data list" sheet.
This applies to Field device column also. But i want to improve the selection criteria by creating such script or formula which could check the input of the description and automatically selects the field device and its relevant signal (output type).
Screen shot is attached : Automatic Selection.jpg

Below, both inputbox cases appear to work fine. If you enter an incorrect input on your first attempt it will offer you the option to return you to an inputbox.

I'm using the following code to create an Inputbox but I want to either disable the OK button until an entry is made or not allow a blank entry. Forcing the user to have to make an entry.
If NameTextBoxnew.Value = "" Then
NameTextBoxnew.Value = Application.InputBox("You must input a name/nickname to identify person", "Name")
End If
If SexTextBoxnew.Value = "" Then
SexTextBoxnew.Value = Application.InputBox("You must select a sex(m/f)", "Sex")
End If
If DOBTextBoxnew.Value = "" And AgeTextBoxnew.Value = "" Then
AgeTextBoxnew.Value = Application.InputBox("Please insert a rough age in years", " Date of RSIT")
End If

I have an input box that takes in a file name. Obviously, sometimes people put in illegal characters which can't be used in a file name and I need to deal with this. I can check the variable once they have pressed enter but is there a way to check it as they type it in?
It would be very nice to either have nothing happen if they type in a slash or for a msgbox to pop up, as it does in Windows,

My only thought is that I have disabled events and updating; could that be it?

I'm using an inputbox to let the user select a range of cells. Here's the line
Set MyRange = Application.InputBox("Select cells with numeric data", Type:=8)
When the inputbox comes up, it won't let the user click any cells (or anywhere in the worksheet, for that matter). The cell/range reference has to be typed in manually.

Can't get the code to cooperate even though myCol does properly reflect the column number.
And this little tester fails as well...?
Code:
Sub Booger()
Dim myCol As Long
myCol = InputBox("Enter a column number")
With Sheets("Sheet2")
.Range(Cells(1, myCol), Cells(25, myCol)).Select
End With
End Sub
Here is the segment I am trying to make work in the main code
Code:
With Sheets("Sheet2").Range(Cells(1, myCol), Cells(25, myCol))
Set Rng = .Find(What:=FindString, _
After:=.Cells(.Cells.Count), _
LookIn:=xlValues, _
LookAt:=xlWhole, _

I am using this code to delete cells from a spreadsheet if the employee name entered in the InputBox matches a name in column D. Does anyone know how I can amend the code so that if the user enters a misspelled name for example, there will be a message box warning ("Invalid Name Entered!"), which the user can press OK and return to the Input Box and try again.
Sub deleter()
Sheets("Staff").Select
Dim Name
Name = Application.InputBox("Please enter employee name", "Staff Termination")
If Name = "" Then
MsgBox "No name entered"
If Name = False Then

Dim strName As String
Sheets("Prices").Select
Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Select
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select
Set wSheetStart = ActiveSheet
strName = InputBox(Prompt:="Type in column A cell to paste component into", _

Range(strName).PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=False

In my "cover" sheet I click the allocate cover button and it then generates a list of data below the first table. This generated data now needs to update the "timetable" sheet by using the "allocated cover teacher" and "period" cells as a reference to then input the class code into the timetable at this time.

So in this picture we see that Dorothy*Schultz (in cell E27) has been given a class 3 MABA RM 15(cell D27) on TuesdayP1 (C27). I want search for Dorothy*Schultz and TuesdayP1 in the "timetable" tab to input the name of the class which in this instance would be input to cell I20 in the "timetable tab".

In my table I want to create a user form where the individual would enter a number which would correspond for the Header Row.
and
The user would also enter a Number that would correspond for the first main column (Column B).
Based on the numbers entered, I want to find the next highest number.
For example if 61 is entered 66 would be chosen.
-Same would be for the numbers entered to find the column.
Based on the numbers entered I would like to find the intersecting cell.
Basic code I can embed in a user form?

Macro below - it now works and selects all the data in spreadsheet and converts to Proper Case
However I also need a macro to select all except the last column of data and convert all except the last column to Proper Case
It is for Post / Zip code info. so wish to keep it in Upper Case.
What I have already is:
Code:
Sub Propercase()
Dim LastRow As Long, LastColumn As Long
LastRow = Cells.Find(What:="*", After:=Range("A1"), SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlPrevious).Row
LastColumn = Cells.Find(What:="*", After:=Range("A1"), SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, SearchDirection:=xlPrevious).Column
Dim r As Range, c As Range
Set r = Range("A1").Resize(LastRow, LastColumn)
[Code] .....
I was hoping I could easily amend the above to select all except last column.

I've got this macro which works well, but I have to edit it to change the column I want to check for dupes. I don't mind doing that, but now I have to share the macro with someone who is not comfortable changing the references in the code every time they run it.
As it is it checks column G:G (7) for dupes and deletes the row. Good.
I'd like for it to do the same thing, but for whatever column the active cell is in.
I can use this:
Col = ActiveCell.Column
in place of the "7" in the With Range part
but I don't know how to replace the "G1:G".
Sub DeleteDuplicatesColumnG()
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = False
.EnableEvents = False

therefore, If a user selects A1:D7. The text in Cells("G", 10) will be:"A1:D7"
w/o the quotes.
I've attached an example workbook.
Here's the formula thus far:
Sub SelectRangeBox()
Dim rnBody As Range
Dim vaMsg As Variant
Do
vaMsg = Application.InputBox( _
Prompt:="Please enter the message-text:", _
Title:="Message", _
Type:=2)
Loop While vaMsg = ""................................
Actuall maybe my thread should be Titled. user selected cell range displayed in input box save to cell as a text value.

I have a button set to bring up an inputbox. enter serial number.
What I need to do is enter the serial number and then have the macro look through a
single column of values to match it then go to that row.
This seemed so simple I thought I could get it but alas here I sit...
I have tried to search the forum for a similar code but haven't found one that was close enough to make sense to me. I have ut together alot of individual actions, but how to get the value inputed to "search" the column and once found go to that row.
I also need to make sure it accounts for new rows being added in the future. (no set row range)

I have a macro that automatically takes data from one sheet, copies it and pastes it on another sheet, but I want it to select the empty column that is to the right of the last column to contain data (so basically the next empty column). What code would I enter into editting my macro to be able to do this please?
Also, one thing I've tried to do with my macro is that when I select the data, it's suppose to select from the first name to the last. When doing the actions for the macro, I use "Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow Key" to make the selection select the bottom of the list. However, when running the macro, if the list is longer (or shorter), the macro selects that number of cells instead of the action of just going to the bottom of the list. For example, if during the actions of the macro, I recorded using the Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow Key that 50 cells were selected...next time if I have 60 cells, only 50 are selected, even though I used an action command which should select all the cells in that group (in this case being 60). Is there some code I can add to that so this would work correctly?
In case its required, here is the code from the macro:

I have a worksheet, attached, that is a supplier response to a purchase order. Column E contains the original qty ordered of each part number, Column H contains the original price. Now, I've created a quick macro, (in the workbook), that copies the original values to the confirmed values, and the formulas in columns G and J calculate the qty backordered, or flags the part as a price change.
After copying the original PO values to the confirmed values, the supplier would need to go in and make whatever changes are necessary. For example, we ordered 3 and they shipped 0 of a certain part, or the price has changed.
What I would like to do is create a macro that pops up an input box where the supplier enters the Keystone part number, (column A), then enters the new quantity or new price, and those items are automatically changed on the response form. I picture it in the form of 3 input boxes, in the first box the buyer enters a part number. A second box pops up asking if it's a qty change or price change. They would enter the value in a 3rd box, and that value would automatically be changed on the response.
