Now the problem, Each client has a sheet in a workbook. In each sheet, I input the number of days of service available to that particular client in a single cell. We'll say cell [G8] is the cell used for this input in all sheets. If the client has 30 days of service available then we type [30] in cell [G8]. Each sheet is a 100 day template. I want to shade in dark grey and lock from input the days NOT available to the client based on the days of service input in cell [G8]. If 30 days of service are available in cell [G8] then the remaining 70 days on the 100 day template would be shaded dark grey and locked from input. That is, day 31 through day 100 of the template would be locked and shaded. Each individual day has multiple cells in a column. I want to lock and shade each column of cells in each day not available.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need help creating a macro that will search through my excel spreadsheet and for every instance where column A isn't empty it should cut a range of columns from that row and paste them in a different range of columns in the row before it. It should then delete the row that it cut the columns from and keep searching until it has done this for the whole worksheet. I can modify which range of columns are needed, but it has been so long since I've worked with excel macros that I haven't been able to do it.

I am stuck on this one. In the attachment I have values pulling into N3:N7 based on a drop down choice. Some of the numbers are numeric (no decimals), others are currency (no decimals), others are percentages (2 decimals), etc.
Is there a way to pull values I'm currently pulling into column N and have those values match the format of the source? I've tried converting it into TEXT but then I cannot place conditional formatting data bars on the values and have it work.
I have an excel 2008 sheet and want to add cells in an odd way. Here is the best way I can describe it.
I want a formula to add cells based off a number value in another cell.
So it would be something like
IF M3= 1 add C5 to SUM ; If not then go to next step
IF M3= 2 add F5 to SUM ; If not then go to next step
IF M3= 3 add I5 to SUM ; If not then go to next step
IF N3= 1 add C5 to SUM ; If not then go to next step
IF N3= 2 add F5 to SUM ; If not then go to next step
IF N3= 3 add I5 to SUM ; If not then go to next step....................
I have a spreadsheet that has (amongst other things) 2 charts based on dynamic data with ranges that redraw using vb... The charts will draw envelopes that correspond to an aircraft's moment or c of g envelope - there will typically be 2 envelopes drawn, "normal" and "utility" or "aerobatic".
Plotted on the charts are an aircraft's takeoff and landing weights and moment/C of G.
I'd like to be able to use a formula or VB to determine which envelope takeoff/landing information falls in (or if it falls outside all envelopes). This data would then be used to generate an error message/possibly also in conditional formatting, etc.
I have a price list from a friend. The price list has to have every other row shaded. This part is no problem with the conditional format command.
The real trick, at least to me, is the background shade of the row is based on the first two letters in the left most column.
For instance:
Column A
CPST4
CPST5
FLADS3EC
FLADS2EC
FIL4
CP rows would alternate with one color while FL rows would alternate with a different color and FI rows would alternate with another different color. All other rows would have no shading.
MacOffice Excel 08 is used so no VB code can be used.
cell A1 is equals to B1 because the cell C1 contains the number 1.
Now if i change the value of the C1 to 2 how can i make the A1 shows the value of the B2 ?
Just like. [A1]=B(C1-content)
I have the following macro, which works fine (extraneous code not shown)...
For I = Start_ROW To Last_ROW_Z
Range("A" & I & " : " & "O" & I).Copy
But I want to make the "O" column identifier dynamic. So I've defined the column with the dimension...
Last_COL_Tracking = Sheets(" Tracking").Range("IV" & Start_ROW).End(xlToLeft).Column - 1
But this returns a column number, not the letter, so I can't use it in my original formula.
I tried converting to R1C1 with the formula...
Range ("R[" & I & "]C[1]:R[" & I & "]C[" & Last_COL_Tracking & "]")
...but this errors out.
I am trying to do is extract the volume size of products in 'ml'
from 10k plus products from a description field cell.
this description field could also contain the weight of the product in grams
so I cannot just do a search for a numeric string ,
it has to be associated with the milli-litres statement .
is is possible to do a sort of ' *ml ' search and then select and copy to another cell ???
how I can change the color of an autoshape based on a value in a cell?

Date Jan 1, 2007 and it falls on on a Monday in the Day column.

What I want is to Colour Code the DAY column in case it is a holiday falling on a Monday or a Friday.
I wish to fill cells with black colour for service days staff are not selectable.

At the moment i have print black and white so the cell shading does not print.
I also want to print a watermark but by having print black and white on the watermark is coming out white so you cant see it.
Is this possible so i can have cell shading on, but not print the cell shading and have a watermark that does print.
The watermark needs to be text not an image.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI will have a spreadsheet similar to the image provided. Basically, I need the macro to go row by row down column I. If the cell in column I contains the word "Tech" I need the cells from column B to P to be shaded color1; if it contains "Update," color 2; if the cell is blank; leave the cell as is. Once the macro has done this, it will continue to the next row and to the same check.
The number of rows in the spreadsheet will change on a day-to-day basis depending on the data that's pulled, but the columns should remain the same.
So I think I have the shading part. This is what I have so far. I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way of coding it, but it kinda works. I guess another problem would be if in the future the column with this info (column I) changes and shifts.
"I want to make a spread sheet where the "shading" changes based on the text entered into the cell. ie I want to be able to enter yellow into a cell and have the cell shading change to yellow."
THis was accomplished with the following ....
I need to display a set of cells based on the value of two drop down cells i have. As I am not very good at english and worse at explinations, I'll try via screen shots...
I have two dropdowns (C4 and C6) that will indicate what table to use (Second sheet / screenshot). I want that "table" to display in the yellow box on the first page. To complicate matters, some options do not have a CLA option - those starting with X. As there are 24 different outcomes and each is 3x9 if/then statements just dont seem to cut it.
P.S. I have excel 2010 and windows 7
What formula do I use to populate certain cells (E5:E10 and J5:10) based on match with condition (E3) with cells from and in the ranges C2:C73 and D2:D73 without creating milelong IF formulas? I am almost at the goal... past 10pm here in Thailand and still at the office
View 2 Replies View RelatedI starting to develop a macro for grouping specific information together. part of it I need to group data based on date ranges. My plan was to, in one sheet label the start and end ranges by month (not every range starts and stops at the beginning and end of the month)
For July I would have 7/1/2012 in one cell and in another 7/28/2012
For august I would have 7/29/2012 next to it 8/25/2012, etc
I need to take those ranges and in my FY2013 sheet column I where all of my dates are listed, in the next column J if the date says 7/1/2012 to label it July, if date says 7/30/2012 to label it August, etc.
I have just started diving into the vast world of dynamic ranges and it's a bit overwelming. I have a dB of sorts that a listbox in a userform fills off of. The dB will be driven by column A and B. Column B are names that are displayed in the listbox. Column A is the class that these names belong to (3 classes). I need to develop dynamically named ranges of Column B based off of Column A. In other words, I need a dynamically named range for all of class1, class2, and class3 in column A to display column B in the listbox on the userform. I have attached an example to clarify the example.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn the attached sheet I would like to set the print range and then print based on 1 cell's valve. F9 is the value I would like to use:
If F9=1 I need it to print A1:M43
If F9=2 I need it to print A1:M87
If F9=3 I need it to print A1:M131 and so on.
I am looking for a solution to dynamically create named ranges according to the contents of cells in a particular column. The following code works for 1 word names, but in many cases the title cell contains numerous words separated by spaces. Is there a way I can adapt this code so that it will name the ranges with the spaces removed? For example, where cell C2 contains the narrative 'Sales Ledger Control', I would want the range name 'SalesLedgerControl'.
Range("R2:Z2").Name = Range("C2")
The named ranges are referred to in numerous other worksheets, where selecting a particular narrative from a listbox creates a dependant drop-down in the adjacent cell (eg if Sales Ledger Control is selected, the dependant list contains names of customers). FYI, the data validation in the other worksheets ignores the spaces in the range names, ie: =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE(G2," ",""))
It would not take me long to name the ranges manually, but a macro is preferable because the narratives in the title cells will often change and the range names will obvioulsy also therefore change.
I have written a VBA procedure which is supposed to hide unneeded columns (based on the a number entered in a certain cell. This is working so far. Since I need to sum only the visible cells in a row i need to clear the contents of a range of cells if they will be hidden. Unfortunately the code i have written runs only to the ClearContents and then starts over from the beginning. If i take out the .clearcontents and put .Select for example instead, the code runs perfectly.
Here is the
Sub worksheet_calculate() 'Hide columns that are not needed
Sheet1. Unprotect
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Dim i As Integer
Dim r As Integer
Dim s As Integer
Dim rngRange As Range
i = 2
Macro that could look at a row and take the values of two cells, combine them and then create a range name for a third cell in the row.
For example; for row 5420, in column C there is the word Florida, in column D there is the number 6235, and in column F there is a sentence or two. Is there a way to automatically create a named range for the cell of column F that would be named FLORIDA6235? And if so, can the macro do this for every row even if the word and/or the number changes.
I have roughly 28,000 rows and nine columns that I am working with. That's why I was wondering if there was a way to automate this. There are 10 states and I don't know how many different numbers attached to the states, however there are many state and number combinations that repeat, so there would be several rows with Florida in column C, 6235 in column D but a different description in column F.
