Shading Cells If Values Exist In Same Cells On Another Sheet
May 6, 2008
We have a simple holidays workbook, with seperate sheet tabs for each member of staff in the department to note down there holidays in a calendar.
The 1st row (from B1 and onwards) contains the day numbers of the month, ie. 1 - 31
The 1st column (A2 downwards) shows the 12 months of the year.
The holidays are then marked in the relevant cell matching the dates required. The codes we use are F (full day), A (morning), and P (afternoon). A countif adds up all the occurences of the various codes and totals the ammount of used/remaining days.
Hopefully that drew a picture.
The problem is, each sheet only shows the holidays marked down for that person. There is no way of checking for a "clash" (ie. 1 member of staff off on the same day as another) without flicking to the other sheets and checking yourself.
how can I get a cell shading to automatically show up on the sheets, if there is a holiday noted down (ie a value, A, P or F) in one of the other sheets?
I want to do, is search column A for claim numbers that match. When I do have a matching claim number, I want to concatenate the original cells ownership field with the said matching cells ownership field (or move into a column in the same row, I can always concatenate later). Once that is complete, I want to delete the row I took the information out of.
I want to join this data in ArcGIS, but as of right now, it's not a 1-to-1 relationship, so only a relate works. That doesn't help me as I want to display claims by ownership, and this can vary per claim. Company A may have 100% on one claim, and then split another claim 50% with Company B.
This causes a double entry on the claim field in this current spreadsheet I have, which requires me to clean it up by making multiple columns of ownership vs. an additional row for shared ownership.
My problem:
Column A Column B 1235555 Company A (50%) 1235555 Company B (50%) 1235556 Company A (100%) 1235557 Company A (33%) 1235557 Company B (33%) 1235557 Company C (33%)
What I would like to see
Column A Column B Column C Column D 1235555 Company A (50%) Company B (50%) 1235556 Company A (100%) 1235557 Company A (33%) Company B (33%) Company C (33%)
I need help to this : When i type a number to a cell and press enter , i want to check if this number exist in a range of cells (in sheet 2) , and if exists , excel show me a message. Actually i use it for my *** club. Number is the client code. When i writte 50 in a cell , i need from excel to check if this client own me money , and show me some message..
1 workbook, 2 worksheets (or tabs). On tab 1, I want a formula/alert that tells the user if any duplicate values exist in Column A of tab 2
Tab 2, Column A, has Unique ID's (6 digit numeric values)
The user manually inputs the ID's on new rows in Column A
Row 1 is reserved and in use for something else Row 2 is my header, so cell A2 says "ID" Row 3-623 currently contain unique ID's
When the user inputs a new ID into cell A624, then they return to Tab 1, I want my formula/alert on Tab 1 to tell the user that they have duplicates in Column A of tab 2. I know the Conditional Formatting, but if the user copies in 100 new values, they won't necessarily see the highlighted cells. My tab 1 is my "checks and balances" and the last place the user is suppposed to look to ensure that they haven't created any duplicate ID's. If the user sees a warning message that says duplicates exist, then I'll tell them that they need to look at column A (for cells that have been conditionally highlighted).
One issue that I'm running into with the conditional highlighting is that I want cells A3:A1048576 to already have the conditional formatting - this way when the user inserts a value into Cell A624, then A625, etc they conditional formatting is already there. Right now with data in cells A3:A623, cells A624:A1048576 are all highlighted with the Red/Bold Red Font (which is okay I guess), but ideally it would be nice to not count 2+ empty cells as duplicates and I'll have to have my formula on Tab 1 not include the blank cells.
I DO NOT want to use the Remove Duplicates feature of Excel 2010. If I remove them I could be removing data in columns B, C, D, etc that belong to the Unique ID. I just need the user to be told in Tab 1 that they DO have duplicates and I'll train the user how to research this and fix it.
The reason I want to look for duplicates in the entire Column A is because the list of Unique ID's will grow over time.
When I run a particular module of code that unhides several rows of a worksheet, revealing cells that are automatically populated and editable by the user, there are a few cells that are lightly highlighted in blue. This isn't to be misunderstood as background ... background shading goes righ to the 4 lines of the cell grid. This shading is a few pixels off the gridlines. Similarly, there are highlighted row numbers and column letters. The cells that are highlighted are a few of the cells that are locked for editting and are a result of a copied over formula. The highlighting goes away when you click on that cell.
One could almost say something is identifying the locked cells of the worksheet.
.Code: Sub populate_existing() Dim wshmain As Worksheet Dim wshcore As Worksheet Dim CRID As Long Dim vlrange As Range
Set wshmain = Worksheets("Main") Set wshcore = Worksheets("CONTROL_1") CRID = wshmain.Range("B14") Set vlrange = wshcore.Range("A:DZ")
....
The cells highlighted are: G26, N26, X25, AE25, AE27, AL26, K42, R42, Y42, AF42, G47, N47, N49, G54, and N53.
I wasn't able to take a snapshot of the shading, it didn't show up in the Snippit tool image.
The logic is that I want the cells to be highlighted and have a border drawn for them as shown in the attached sheets (I have used record macro which will do this for rows 39 and 40 when the click button is clicked). The highlighting should start at the row number specified, stop once a merged cell is reached, skip the merged cell, continue highlighting, stop once a merged cell is reached, skip the merged cell, continue highlighting and so on and on until the last row (which is user specified) is reached. The first row after the merge cells should be highlighted in grey and yellow.
Now the problem, Each client has a sheet in a workbook. In each sheet, I input the number of days of service available to that particular client in a single cell. We'll say cell [G8] is the cell used for this input in all sheets. If the client has 30 days of service available then we type [30] in cell [G8]. Each sheet is a 100 day template. I want to shade in dark grey and lock from input the days NOT available to the client based on the days of service input in cell [G8]. If 30 days of service are available in cell [G8] then the remaining 70 days on the 100 day template would be shaded dark grey and locked from input. That is, day 31 through day 100 of the template would be locked and shaded. Each individual day has multiple cells in a column. I want to lock and shade each column of cells in each day not available.
I have 5 sheets, each sheet has 1 column of data (column A). I want to find the values that exist in all sheets. I will gather all values in 6th sheet, and I want to write "YES" in column B next to value that exists in all 5 sheets. How can I do this? For example:
I am trying to create a spreadsheet to monitor behavior modification progress for children. I need to figure out a way to be able to send an email notification when there is a blank cell in a column that has been there longer or equal to 24 hours.
I have a workbook that uses the values that a user had entered into 3 cells to calculate multiple other charts/diagrams on multiple sheets within the workbook. Each sheet would show what the user had entered in the 3 cells to allow them to see what is being used to calculate each table. Is it possible to link these cells so that the user can change the 3 values without having to go back to where he originally entered the 3 values?
For example, a user has entered in 3 values in Sheet 1. A formula in Sheet 2 displays what is entered by the user and uses these calls in Sheet 2 for calculations. When the user wants to change the three values, he would have to navigate to Sheet 1 and enter in the new values to have the workbook recalculate all the tables. Is there a way to link the three cells from Sheet 1 and Sheet 2 so when the user is on Sheet 2, he has the opportunity to change the values on the current Sheet without having to navigate to Sheet 1 to do so?
I'm trying to copy the cells from a sheet and transfer only the values to other sheet.
I did it via code and it worked fine, except for the dates. In the new sheet the months and days are swapped.
The original date is composed via the concatenate function, since it gets inputs (day, month and year) from the user in different cells. It's in the format D/M/YYYY (examples: 4/2/2014, 10/12/2013). I believe the excel interprets it as Text, even if I formated the cells to Date.
I think it may have something to do with the default format in different countries. Here in Brazil we use DD/MM/YYYY, but my Excel is in english and in US the format is MM/DD/YYYY, am I right?
I got the following formula to get data from the "data"-sheet into the "werkblad"-sheet. If the regarding cell on the "data"-sheet is empty the result on the "werkblad"-sheet will be "0"
Trying to figure out a VB Script but don't know where to start.
I have a sheet for each month. lets take September 2013
A Column with 200 Servers (A1:A200) on the Intranet listed as server-1/, Server-2/ Server-3 ... Server-200/ Each Server lists a location of a file for each day (31 columns per row)
I am trying to check for the existence of the files on each server (The Cells contain the URL and File Name in Range B2:AF201) starting with server-1 check the URL in B2 if it exists, go to C2, Continue with that row until the file check is False (The Page will show a 404 error) if not found delete cell url and continue. do this for all 200 rows
I’m trying to assign building and office keys to various personnel, by appointing different classification levels to each set of keys given out. Very similar in the way an administrator would assign permission levels to individuals.
Question: •Is there a way to pick up an array of non-sequential numbers from one sheet (values 1 -36) •Find those values which are assigned to columns laid out as a table, •Then highlight those found values
I’ve attached a dummy sheet to illustrate my question.
I have not attempted coding this because I wouldn’t know where to start. Theoretically is this even possible?
Purpose: Build a roster from: Sheets(Settings).Range("A21").Value (this value is variable)
Problem: Find that A21 value in Range T2:T100 (each value in the range is unique) Copy that value to Sheets("Roster") E8 and the next 9 values to E14 E20 E26 E32 G2 G14 G20 G26 G32
Reason for posting: I've been trying to do this with vba but sheet formula will probably work, I can always Copy/Paste Special/Values to clear the formula. Keyword searching has resulted in no progress.
Essentially, sheet b is a list of 900 people I need to mail to. Sheet a has 3000 rows of people, many of whom don't need the mailing. It has mailing addresses that we need in sheet b.
We have two worksheets, sheet a and sheet b
compare sheet b, column c (email addresses) to sheet a, column x, (email addresses). If they match, move sheet a, columns d, e, f, g, and h to sheet b.
If this has been requested already, I apologize, please direct me to the right thread and flog me with USB cable. I've been searching the forum for an answer for a couple of hours now for the answer to this:
I have a list of words in column A on a sheet and I'm trying to write a formula on another sheet that will check all cells on a pre-populated row and return a value if any of the words from the list on are contained in any of the cells in the row. I've attached an example spreadsheet
Need to autohide cells in sheet 2 and 3 based on sheet 1 cells that are hidden. (Example if i hide 150 switchgear on SOV tab it will hide 150 switchgear in Customer and Foreman sheets as well).
I have a sheet (sheet1) of around 900 rows with data in columns A-K. Column B contains a unique value.
Sheet2 contains data which needs to be highlighted in sheet1 and each row in identified by a unique value in Column B.
sheet1.PNG sheet2.png
In sheet 1, I only want to highlight the cell which exists in sheet 2 for the matching reference number in column B. For example, in sheet2, the value 'PM328491CN' exists and the value 'CN' is present in cell c2. I want the cell that contains this value in sheet 1 to be highlighted (cell C6).
So, find the matching reference, the highlight the cell in the row which is present in both sheets.
I have data on 400 rows. Each row has a maximum of 10 cells with data, but many have empty cells with no data. I would like to sort each row to show values of cells in sequence and eliminate empty cells. I can use the sort row function but its a long process for 400 individual rows. Is there an easier way?
I M trying to get the lower values between to cells and have the lower valued cell highlighted,,,i have over 43 thousand lines of data to go throughand i was wondering if there was a quicker way to do this,,,for example cellA1 is $4.25 and cellA2 is $5.25 i want cell A1 to be highlighted,,is there a way?
I'm working on a project for my company. We make plastic tanks and for quality control we want to start recording the thickness of the tanks in different areas/zones of each tank.
Attached to this message is an Excel sheet that I've been working on. From "Sheet 1", it records inputted thicknesses into WorkSheet "1098". On the top of "1098", it shows all of the recordings, and just below that are the "10 Most Recent Entries".
Right below the "10 Most Recent Entries", there are formulas to calculate the Min and Max Values. Whenever a new entry is recorded, the selected cells for the Min and Max formulas change. Is there a way to force the cells to always stay the same?
I'm trying to develop a new daily timesheet for my production workers, where non-production items are recorded in 15 minute intervals. The user would put in "Clock in" by the corresponding time, and the same for "Clock out" at the end of the day. Any non-production items will be type in next to their appropriate time. Since clock in and clock out times will vary, I need to set up a formula that searches the array of cells for the day, finds the "Clock in" and "Clock out" values, and counts any blank cells in between them. Basically the blank cells will equal production time, and the result of the Count function will be multiplied by 0.25 to get the hours.
I am having a very difficult time finding a way to set the "Clock in" and "Clock out" cells as the range for the Count function, because it won't always be the same cells. What would be the best way to automatically have excel find the cells containing these values and set them as the range criteria for a Count function?
The formula at the bottom was one of my initial attempts, but it didn't work. I took out the '=' for the screenshot, so that wasn't the problem.
I want a unique count of sequences in a different for that class only if that particular row in 'A' or 'B' is populated. The result set should be as follows:
ClassAB 1032 1511 2012
Can this be achieved through a formula?
