Specified Dates As Column Titles In Bar Graph?

Jun 27, 2014

It appears that the bar graph automatically turns all dates into the first day of the year in question.

For example, what I have in the source chart is the following 3 dates: 6/11/14, 6/11/13, 6/11/12, however when I convert the table into a bar graph, it changes the dates to 1/1/14, 1/1/13, and 1/1/12.

Here's a snip of the table: Data source.JPG

And here's a snip of the chart: Chart.JPG

I've tried going into the advanced settings and making the intervals fixed (starting at 6/11/12 with 1 year intervals), however it does not seem to change the display.

First Row (for Column Titles) Not Move

I have been given an Excel file. Upon opening it, I see that the top four rows do not move even if I scroll down. What I'd prefer is that only the first row (for column titles) not move. If I can learn the name of this feature, I'm sure I can figure out how to change the file.

Lookup Doesn't Work Because Column A Has Titles And Lots Of Blanks

Mar 30, 2014

I have titles in column A and multiple codes per title in column B.

I want all the codes for a single title copied onto another sheet.

I can't use =B1 as the sheet gets updated every week and the amount of codes per title changes.

I was thinking using lookup but the majority of column A is blank and I don't know how to make it look in the row above if blank, or if that is even possible.

Another option would be to look for the title in column A then copy column B until the text "Group Total" which always appears at the end of a titles codes.

Set Up Graph With Dates

Dec 27, 2013

I need to set up a graph (smooth line chart possibly) with an (x axis) that are not regular intervals. I've attached an example.

the amounts would be (y axis) and the corresponding dates (x axis).

That would be great to start with. Then I have one of these sheets for each month, can there be a continuous graph made using each month or does it need to be individual graphs.

Graph Plummets To 0 For Zero Values For Future Dates?

Sep 16, 2013

I have a dashboard which has dropdown boxes to pick out the data you want to see. From this data i then have graphs which are graphing 0s from the data making the graph look horrible.

I know I need to add NA() to the cells so that 0s dont graph, but all my data has formulas in and i don't know how to add the NA part to the existing formula.

my formula for each cell is
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($A9,'DB data'!$A$1:$HH$2003,COLUMN(FP1),FALSE),"-")

This looks up name such as "sign on time", then goes to another sheet and retrieves the data.

Where can i add the NA part. I've tried instead of the "-" at the end but doesn't work. and ive tried instead of FALSE and this stops the formula from working.

Excel 2007 :: Counting Dates Then Creating Dynamic Graph

Jul 24, 2014

What I have done is entered code to auto generate the date in column O whenever data is entered or altered in column A. Here is that code:

VB:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A:A")) Is Nothing Then _
Target.Offset(0, 14).Value = Now

End If
End Sub

What I am trying to do now, is create a column that will take the information from O and do a sort of COUNTIF function that will count how many items of data were entered on a certain date by the day. For a clearer example, I want it to tell me how many items were entered/altered on 7/23. But I also want it to continuously calculate it for each date after that. Preferably automatically, but if a macro is needed I can create an update button.

Once it can achieve that I would like to create a dynamic graph that will automatically (or via macro button) update to show the last 5 days. It should display the date and how many items were entered that day.

I am using Office 2007.

Count Unique Dates In A Column That Are Between Two Dates?

Dec 18, 2012

I have a sheet named "XYZ Activity" with meeting dates in column B starting with cell B4. There are duplicates in this list, that should only be viewed as one meeting. On another sheet, each company that attends the meeting has a specific join date found in Column C (C4 is the first company start date). I am trying to figure out an equation that will count how many meetings the company could have attended. I already calculate the total meetings they have attended using either of the following equations:

=COUNT(1/FREQUENCY(IF('XYZ Activity'!$C$4:$C$4000=A3,IF('XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000<>"",'XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000)),IF('XYZ Activity'!$C$4:$C$4000=A3,IF('XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000<>"",'XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000))))

Make Bar On Vertical Column Bar Graph?

Is there a way to make the bar on a vertical column bar graph increase in height gradually over a couple of seconds rather than jumping from one height to the next height instantly.

eg:

if a vertical bar graph is reading data from cell b5, and b5 currently reads as 46, if b5 then changes to (let's say) 58, I'd like the column bar graph not to instantly change from a height reflecting the 46 to a height reflecting 58, but to slowly rise, showing the transition from 46 to 58.

Adding Incremental Data To Column Graph?

Anyway, I have a column graph that shows company totals on the left, in three columns, and sub-group totals to the right. These columns represent Revenue Targets (Blue), and current projections (Red) as of the current time. Ignore the green column. I would like to add incremental amounts to the Red column weekly, as the projections change. So I want to show an increment on top of the red column.

So if LG picks up 100 of additional revenue, I want to show the increment of 100 on top of the 2000 that is there, using a different pattern or cross-hatch.

Group Column Bars In Graph With Specific Sorting?

Jan 7, 2014

I'm trying to figure out a way to group columns in a bar graph without displaying them in a cluster, but instead in displaying them individually in a specific order. However, I still want to identify each group with a different color. This is hard to describe, so I'll try my best to illustrate what I'm trying to do with an example. Assume I have three groups of data and within each group I have 2 to 3 items in it with different values. In a list the data would look like this:

Group 1 - Item 1 - $2,000
Group 2 - Item 2 - $1,100
Group 1 - Item 3 - $2,200
Group 1 - Item 4 - $3,200
Group 3 - Item 5 - $1,800
Group 2 - Item 6 - $1,200
Group 1 - Item 7 - $2,500
Group 3 - Item 8 - $2,800

What I want to do is create a bar graph that will still allow me to color all group 1 items as red, all group 2 items as blue, and all group 3 items as green while still showing each bar sorted in the order I've shown above and labeled as items 1 through 8. Then, I want a legend to only show the groups 1 - 3 with their colors. To explain, the graph would look like this:

Bar 1 would be labeled as Item 1, with a value of $2,000, and colored red
Bar 2 would be labeled as Item 2, with a value of $1,100, and colored blue
Bar 3 would be labeled as Item 3, with a value of $2,200, and colored red
Bar 4 would be labeled as Item 4, with a value of $3,200, and colored red
Bar 5 would be labeled as Item 5, with a value of $1,800, and colored green
Bar 6 would be labeled as Item 6, with a value of $1,200, and colored blue
Bar 7 would be labeled as Item 7, with a value of $2,500, and colored red
Bar 8 would be labeled as Item 8, with a value of $2,800, and colored green

Then, the legend would only show the groupings of Group 1, 2, 3, 4 and their associated colors.

(By the way... I know I can do this manually by selecting each bar and customizing the color, but I want an automated way of doing this to reduce maintenance time)

Make Multiple Charts That Will Graph The Data Of A Specific Name In Column

Aug 5, 2008

Is there a way to make multiple charts off of 1 big data sheet. Sounds easy but there is more.

Sheet name is Field
Column A is Name ( about 40 different names)
Column B is Date (x axis primary and secondary)
Column D is Oil (y primary axis)
Column G is Water (y primary axis)
Column E is Gas ( y secondary axis)
Column M is MCFE (y secondary axis)

There is about 2-3 thousand rows, updated monthly. I need to make a graph by each well name.

1) can I make multiple graphs that can just look at the "field" sheet and then breakout just the 1 well name that shows up on the chart sheet that I create

I've tried pivot charts but you can't have secondary acess because it resets every time.

Basically, make multiple charts that will graph the data of a specific name in column A

Search For Words In Row In Other Row With Titles?

Jul 20, 2012

I need a functionality in Excel, but I can't get it done. I want to search multiple titles on multiple words.

1. I have a list with titles (tab A)
2. I have a list with words (tab B)

Now I want to scan all titles on words that appear on tab B and return the value of the word.

Example:

Title (tab A - column A)
Return (tab A - column B)
Words (tab B)
BrandX Shampoo Big
Shampoo
Eau de Toilette
BrandX Nailcutter
Nailcutter
Nailcutter
BrandX Eau de Toilette
Eau de Toilette
Shampoo

So for row 1 the word "shampoo" is reconised in the title and returns this value. Same for the other rows. I need the functionality like the formula below, but then with more words (from a list). I don't want to work with "OR" because the list with word is about 200+ and will be more in future.

=IF(ISERROR(SEARCH("shampoo",A1)),"x","shampoo")
