I am working on the evaluation of a survey. I had 212 respondents which could be divided into three distinct groups. I would like to present the results of a question in columns that reflect the total frequency count in percentages. At the same time I would like those columns to be stacked in order to illustrate the contribution each group has made to that particular answer. I have attached an xls file with the data and a demonstration of the outcome I am trying to achieve.
I haven't been able to create the graph so that the columns display the total count in relation to all respondents on the one hand and at the same time are broken up into the individual groups. Among others, I have read the thread: http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/stacked-column.htm but that doesn't answer my question as the Total there is actually the cumulative total of the other values.
I was asked to make a trend graph showing activation's and deactivation's over time. My boss wanted it to be done automatically when you placed values into a simple excel sheet like the attached image (the graph would be below this).
View 14 Replies View RelatedI track inventory/sales for a very small sole proprietorship. I'm looking to track the number of items that I sell based on the text that I enter in a certain column.
Specifically, I want to have a visual chart/graph to show the percentage of each size/color of an item that I sell, as I sell it. When I enter the words "3T pink" I want the chart/graph/whatever to show another quantity of this category. As I sell a new item, I want the chart to reflect it.
The problem I'm having, is that the graphs/charts require two data sets, but I want the graph to calculate it for me! All I want to do is enter the text for specific items, and when the text occurs subsequent times, I want this reflected in the graph/chart.
It seems so much more simple in my head....basically I want a dynamic chart, not based on a static data set.
i have some numbers as data, i want to find the function that generate thiese numbers and also i want to view the chart of it, its kind of sine wave graph.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have seen many threads on how to delete rows with no data in them (empty rows).. but I have a spreadsheet that has large "chunks" of column data separated by random empty cells. (It is like this from earlier manipulation of summing similar cells...)
Some columns do not have any empty cells and some have a many empty cells. I only want to shift the cell directly beneath it up, and only concentrate on a single column at a time.
So my main questions is:
How do you delete single cells, in a single column, and shift the data below up?
how to achieve the following: I have a list of names and individual dates and what I would like to do is convert to a 'names' column, a 'to' column and a 'from' column where the the 'to' and 'from' columns are the dates that are consecutive weekdays (carrying over each weekend as well)?

For instance:
1304DP_CVDA2_CC_
1304EP_CVD_CC_
1400BR_CV_O_
1610__RA_
Everything before the first underscore can be ignored, the keycodes are after the underscore. If there are two underscores (__) there are no keycodes for that product. The next underscore after the keycodes represents product categories and can be ignored. Is it possible to break individual keycodes into their own columns?
For example, 1304DP_CVDA2_CC_ would become:
1304DP_CVDA2_CC | C | V | D | A2
I have individual letter keycodes for the entire alphabet range A - Z, and one oddball A2.
I got a workbook with one active sheet. There are 6 colums and 55 rows. I want to creat a macro or formula to automatically print each individual row on a single sheet of paper. i will only need the line with a specific value printed i.e only print value more then 5

I need to get that list of numbers listed out to the right, with one number per cell. The list in column one could possibly contain from 1 to 20 numbers, and the last number is always without the comma after it.
I am trying to come up with the most efficient way to copy data to multiple sheets within the same Excel workbook. The original data exists within one column on a summary sheet (could have up to 500 individual entries). I want to copy each individual entry to a unique sheet (that already exists), but in the exact same cell location within each sheet. I would only want to copy the original data value and not any formatting. Is there an efficient way to do this?
In my example spreadsheet, the original data is on the SUMMARY sheet. Sheets A through J would be the target sheets, with cell B2 as the target location for each of those sheets. My example shows the result of a manual copy paste value process, but I am hoping to automate that.
I need to know, can I plot a graph (ongoing plotting each value) from just ONE single cell which constantly updates it's value? (I have a third party datafeed hooked up to one single cell in Excel 2000 [yes, the old one ] and it updates quickly in realtime automatically throughout the day). But I need to trace the history of the values, plot a graph of all the values which ever show up in that single, in other words.
Also, I need to date and time stamp each new plot on the X axis of the graph (only when a new figure appears in the cell). So, for example, my one and only "datacell" (say, A1!) which is linked to an external datafeed is showing "145.87541" at 12:30:45 on 27/04/05. I need that time and date on the X axis which the number as the plot. Then that cell changes value 2 seconds later to "145.87587" at 12:30:47 on 27/04/05. Now I need that second plot on the graph at the correct time/date stamp so I am constantly plotting the history of the value onwards (potentially forever!) using just that one, automatically updating, cell.
I have the output of my database in an excel file and one of the columns is the date of instalation (of a PC in this case) and I am trying to use the date of instalation to calculate the date of RENEWAL (we have a set life cycle for our machines and so we calculate in months when its due for an upgrade).
I think just a simple formula will work. I have attached an excel file with some example information.
In column B I have the computer type(this will determine how long of a life it has), In column D we have the instalation date which is the starting date (the start of its life cycle). Here are the variables.

I have an Excel file containing data about employees. Each row contains a lot of information that is relevant for a specific date range, denoted by the columns "start date" and "end date". I would like to copy each row so that I have it accessible per date that is within the date range. The only columns that would change in the copy are the date columns. For example, for 1 row that has a date range of 01/08/2013 - 05/08/2013, I want to copy the row 5 times except the date columns become "01/08/2013", "02/08/2013", etc.

For the individual months, I have each calendar day in a column and whether the day was for sick, vacation, etc in the rows. So if someone was sick in April, I would mark the day they were out of the office. And so on...
Well now I need to figure out how I can take those individual dates and total them up in the summary page automatically.
I am trying to plot multiple tables on the same line chart in Excel 2007. I have a list of X and Y values for Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 etc.
However the size of the tables are not the same for each table. For example, Table 1 might have 200 X and Y values, Table 2 might have 175 X and Y values, Table 3 might have 105 X and Y values, etc.
So when I plot these data tables on one line chart the individual plots are off center. They should all be centered at 0.
I have an XY plot where the source X value data is a series of time values, each associated with a descriptive text cell. I would like to select a single point (obviously by mouse) and then execute a macro (right click preferred but a separate command button would be a suitable substitute for now) that will extract the X-value. I then plan to use that value to find within the source data the associated descriptive text cell and make a data label from that text. No clue where to start...the macro recorder is woefully deficient in this area.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to display the percentage of occupancy for each month for condo rentals.
I have columns with dates that represent bookings throughout the year. check in and check out dates to be more precise. (A1 and B1 for example) and I have columns with months Jan, Feb, etc. (C1, D1, etc. for example)
The problem I run in to is that I can calculate the number of days between the dates and the fraction of the year (*12 to get a monthly value, but I fail to understand how I can break that up so that I can populate each month with a correct percentage of the total term.
E.g. A1=1-jan-2014 and B1=20-jan-2014 is an easy one because it only covers 1 month:
formula: =(YEARFRAC(A1,B1,3))*12 gives me 62,47% which I could just use as is for that month.
So far so good, but when the period covers more than one month or when the months overlaps, I don't know how to break the outcome up into the appropriate months to display the correct percentage for each month in its own column.
e.g. A1=1-jan-2014 and B1=20-Mar-2014 gives me a result of 253% with the same formula.
100% for November, 100% for December and 63% for January, which I could somehow formulate to break up over different Months.
But then it gets more tricky. What if the booking starts on a day other than the 1st of the Month?
e.g. A1=5-jan-2014 and B1=20-Mar-2014
The result of the formula (243%) is correct, but isn't sufficient to put the correct percentages for each month in their respective column.
What formula(s) should I use to break down the percentages to match the correct fraction of each individual month?

I need to set up a graph (smooth line chart possibly) with an (x axis) that are not regular intervals. I've attached an example.
the amounts would be (y axis) and the corresponding dates (x axis).
That would be great to start with. Then I have one of these sheets for each month, can there be a continuous graph made using each month or does it need to be individual graphs.

I wish to plot a Stacked column graph of dates work is completed. Several peoples names along the bottom and dates up the side. The stack shall be broken into 6 steps, each step denoted by the date it was completed.
I would also like a marker at the top of each stack indicating the deadline date.
I'm working from a large table of dates.
We have a bunch of 8 digit Purchase Orders (POs) with end dates. We want to show all ten different PO's on a Line graph on the left with the end date at the bottom. Our issue seems to be that:
1. The graph doesn't show the exact PO #, but does a range. We need each PO number listed. How do we get the graph so show each individual PO on the left?
I have a spreadsheet that I'm trying to make a graph that shows the amount of letters mailed in a certain month.
The first line has 01/24/2008 as date received and 01/28/08 as date mailed. I'm trying to make a graph that shows the amount of letters received and mailed in each month. I know there are probably numerous ways to do this but I'm looking for the most effiecent and I would like to be able to update the same spreadsheet and have the graph update as I add information.
It appears that the bar graph automatically turns all dates into the first day of the year in question.
For example, what I have in the source chart is the following 3 dates: 6/11/14, 6/11/13, 6/11/12, however when I convert the table into a bar graph, it changes the dates to 1/1/14, 1/1/13, and 1/1/12.

I've tried going into the advanced settings and making the intervals fixed (starting at 6/11/12 with 1 year intervals), however it does not seem to change the display.
I have a dashboard which has dropdown boxes to pick out the data you want to see. From this data i then have graphs which are graphing 0s from the data making the graph look horrible.
I know I need to add NA() to the cells so that 0s dont graph, but all my data has formulas in and i don't know how to add the NA part to the existing formula.
my formula for each cell is
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($A9,'DB data'!$A$1:$HH$2003,COLUMN(FP1),FALSE),"-")
This looks up name such as "sign on time", then goes to another sheet and retrieves the data.
Where can i add the NA part. I've tried instead of the "-" at the end but doesn't work. and ive tried instead of FALSE and this stops the formula from working.
What I have done is entered code to auto generate the date in column O whenever data is entered or altered in column A. Here is that code:

What I am trying to do now, is create a column that will take the information from O and do a sort of COUNTIF function that will count how many items of data were entered on a certain date by the day. For a clearer example, I want it to tell me how many items were entered/altered on 7/23. But I also want it to continuously calculate it for each date after that. Preferably automatically, but if a macro is needed I can create an update button.
Once it can achieve that I would like to create a dynamic graph that will automatically (or via macro button) update to show the last 5 days. It should display the date and how many items were entered that day.
I am using Office 2007.
My current project involves sorting a spreadsheet, selecting specific qualifying data from the sheet, storing it into a variable, the pasting the individual values from the list into individual cells on a different sheet within the same workbook. Here is the code I have so far...

When this code runs the first item in the list pastes into Sheet10 A1, but no other values from the list are placed into Sheet10. Previous to this I had been using a variation of this code to push the list into a combobox list within a userform. In that case instead of

And this worked perfectly; creating a list within the combobox (in fact I can use this modification to interrogate my code to determine if the list is being properly generated, and it is).
I'm doing our training schedule for 2010. Some course we have are multiple date (ie. September 12 - 13) some are singular (ie. January 9). We have a date column. For the single dates it automatically converts to date format. For the multiple date is stays as text format. this is very confusing when we sort by date as every course that has multiple dates doesn't sort properly (because it's in text format). Is there a practical way to go about doing this, so if someone were to sort by date it would would sort properly -whether it's multiple or single dates? Let me know if anyone has any ideas. I'd prefer not to have 2 columns - column 1 being (course start) and column 2 being (course end)..but not sure if this is possible.

Pressure ( PSIA) Solubility (mol %) Velocity (m/s)
200 0.024 1
300 0.036 1.2
400 0.041 1.8
I need the two x axis to be pressure and solubility and the y axis to be velocity, with the data being demonstrated by a single plot (I have only managed it with two plots which does not demonstrate solubility's relationship to pressure ).
For example at a pressure of 200 PSIA (lower x-axis) and solubility of 0.024 mol % (upper x-axis) velocity was found to be 1 m/s.
