I am using the following formuale to pick up a numeric value (from column G in Feb09 sheet: =INDEX(Feb09!G:G,MATCH($A10,Feb09!$B:$B,0))
Trouble is, the match it's doing in column b in Feb09 is listed twice in the sheet, but i'm only picking up the data for the value in the first line ... i think i need a sumif function.
This should be a simple one, But I can get it to work. Could someone advise me as to how I can change this line of code to pick sheet(2) as it is now it picks sheet(1) . and throws the formula off. In A nut shell the formula is looking at sheets(1) C3 When it needs to look at sheets(2) C3. I always get messed up with the & and "" and!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

I have this function that works on line 3 and if the conditions are met, the result is 1

Here how it works, if B3 is the same color as the reference cell $A$76 and D3 is different than D4 then the result is 1

The purpose of the attached workbook is to calculate the average number of days a customer takes to pay their invoices. There are two tabs - Invoices and Payments. I am trying to calculate the number of days between Invoices "Sales Date" and Payments "Settlement Date".
The Payments tab is raw data exported from Attache financial system as CSV. It is the best I can get out of the system but the columns are all over the place.
I thought maybe from the Invoices tab I could search a row on the Payments tab to match the invoice number, find the cell containing the phrase "Invoice Number" then pick up the date from the following cell which contains the Settlement Date . This would be straight forward if the data from the CSV file consistently landed in the same column in the Payments worksheet, but it doesn't. As you can see, the phrase "Invoice Number" might appear in any one of several different columns.
I have Workbook with numerous worksheets,on one particular worksheet i require a formula/macro code that will pick up (say) those cells highlighted in red and then transfer that data set and the other selected information on that row to a another worksheet within the workbook.
E.g
Sheet 1 contains columns A to J;
Sheet 2 is where i require the information which is highlighted in red to be uplifted and pasted too.
so if Cell B2 contains the highlighted cell how would i uplift and transfer this along with data in cell C2,H2,I2 and J2 automatically to sheet 2.

I am trying to write a macro that will automate the process of selecting rows from a data sheet. I want the rows to be selected based on the values in two columns. I want to find and select the row at the beginning and end of positions in a column where the values are equal. For a quick example, if my data looks like this below, I'd want to select the entire row for rows 2,3, and 6... I also need the row just before the value in both columns are equal.

I have written this macro and it is not working... are there any obvious problems with this? This is new to me and I'm not exactly sure that I've used the correct commands. It also seems like LastRow is referencing 0 and not 12965 or whatever the last row of filled data is for the sheet.

I have a series of spreadsheets that represent the rosters of teams in a league. At the end of the league season, some teams qualify to advance to a final event, and some do not. I start with a file of all the teams for that level of competition. This list comes from a program that creates it's output in an excel '97-2003 format (and I can't change the way the data comes out of this program). I modify the data a bit by removing data from merged cells and rename that worksheet a 'Raw Data'. In the past I have manually copied and pasted the data for the teams that advance to a sheet called 'Roster Data'. I am hoping there is a way to automate this part of the chore.
There must be 6 blank lines between the team names on the 'Roster Data' tab, but some teams have more members than others, so they are not spaced the same on the 'raw data' tab. Is there a way to select teams from the 'Raw Data' tab and have only the selected teams show on the 'Roster data' tab, AND have the spacing become uniform?

If I try putting AA in - the formula returns the VALUE#. I thought it maybe the cell formatting but it does not seem to the problem.

I have the data to import / read in a pdf, in a doc, or in an Excel worksheet whichever is easier to use. I need to import the data, parse it into the correct cells for that row and then repeat the import until the end of the file. Not all the cells are in each group of data to import, so those cells will be null for that row. Some of the data for one cell may be in up to 14 lines in the data file. I have be concatenating these data rows into one cell. There are 48,000 lines in the file to import or I would do this manually. I am assuming that doing this in VBA would be the most efficient method.

All the tab 1's are different, these feed into tab 2, which the data has the same formatting throughout. The 2nd tab has the same data for A:F 1 but cells A:2 - F:2 down to row 9 are populated from tab 1, therefore different in each. I am trying to get a Master schedule that lifts the data in the fed cells into a line by line spreadsheet?
Is there a way I can get excel to look at a folder, then every workbook in it, the at the 2nd tab in every workbook, then list the cells as described above? I am not after a consolidation of this data, but a full list?
I need to read or clear all the line in specific range which will be increasing dynamically. Problem is "Selected File List" table range is not specified. New file chosen with browse will be added to "Selected File List" dynamically. Number of file can't be predicted.

After that, (Row number 9 which is start line + arraylist size) to get the number of line of end of the table. But due to some requirement, I want to read the file from excel file. I want to some all the Totals that appear before the "End Notification" text. I have more totals after that text and the number of rows are variable.
In my data, I have always 4 totals before that text, so I thought perhaps that the way to do this would be to impose to the sumif function to stop summing after counting 4 totals. I didn't find a way to do that.
I thought a little more on the problem and I find out that the easy way would be to record a macro with the sum if function, where, in the range part, I would do a Find for "End Notification"; and select all the cells to the top of the sheet. The problem is that the macro dont record that part, only the row number.I think I need to turn the range a variable, where the variable is equal to the find selection.

Generally you would normally use the "=SUMIF(range,criteria,sumrange)". I was wondering if there was a formula I can substitute "sumrange" to also search a range of data (Eg: "G16:DA28"). I need the range to be dynamic as the column to be sum can change based on the criteria/option button being selected from the product category. I assume there is an indirect function involved, but I am not familiar with it. If you have a better and less complicated formula please suggest.

Perhaps I need to add an additional column, then formulate a solution. I want to sum the daily returns for the TSX when the slope is positive (green), and sum the S&P when it is negative. Currently, on signal day, I am summing that day's return, which I don't want to do. I want to sum starting on the next day (blue). The B column switches back and forth from positive to negative, so I will summing different data periods going back 1000 days. I am summing the TSX returns and S&P returns seperately to make it easier. Currently I have in C1=(sumif(b2:b1000,">0",c2:c1000)) Same for D2.

I was wondering if it is possible to have a double sumif. For example asssuming you have a table with three columns:
Col 1 (far left) is called Name
Col 2 (middle) is called date
Col 3 (far right) is called values
Now assuming that column 1 contains 4 different names, each repeated for each date in column 2. In turns the dates are repeated for each names (see below example)
