I have a formula that basically work, except is really complicated and slows the whole sheet down and then, for some reason, returns a circular referencing error or something. There must be a better way!
So the back story is that I have a spreadsheet that I'm using to track ~1200 employees, including salary, job title and, where I'm having trouble, reporting line.
Column [R] is the Line Manager (direct manager) and Column [S] is Department Head. Columns [T] - [Y] is "Manager", "Manager +1" (manager's manager), "Manager +2" (manager's manager's Manager), etc up to Manager +5.
'Line Manager' is input manually. 'Manager' = 'Line Manager'. Manager+1 to +5 just vlooks up off the same sheet. This part works fine and will update the whole reporting line if you change the manager.
Department head is where I'm having a problem! Essentially what I'm looking for is for the formula to look at the 5 cells to the right (the manager +# columns) and look for 'Mr Boss' and return one cell to the left since department heads report the the boss. There is one exception, its that some immediate reports of Lucy Lawful also are counted as Department Heads. For this purpose I vlooked up this list of exceptions on another sheet. My formula is this (entered as an array):
=IF(ISTEXT(T5),IF(OR(OFFSET(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(MAX((T5:Y5="Mr Boss")*ROW(T5:Y5)),MAX((T5:Y5="Mr Boss")*COLUMN(T5:Y5)),4)),0,-2,1)=Vlookups!H:H),OFFSET(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(MAX((T5:Y5="Mr Boss")*ROW(T5:Y5)),MAX((T5:Y5="Mr Boss")*COLUMN(T5:Y5)),4)),0,-2,1),OFFSET(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(MAX((T5:Y5="Mr Boss")*ROW(T5:Y5)),MAX((T5:Y5="Mr Boss")*COLUMN(T5:Y5)),4)),0,-1,1)),"")
Below is an example file. In my real file the formula works for everyone, not sure why its not working for half the employee now, but probably cos it's a useless formula.

Assume cell A1 contains a name and A2 contains the text "D7".
How would the code look like that
1. reads the contense in cell A2 (which is D7),
2. converts it (D7) to a cell address and finally
3. copies the content in cell A1 to the cell address found in A2 (in this case D7)
To illustrate I attached an Excel file.

I have a list of about 300 addresses that I'd like to be able to put in a sortable state. In column A1-A4 is the following:
Name
Street Address
City, State Zip
Email Address
Then there is a blank row and then the next address. What I would like to do is figure out a way to take the info in columns A1-A4 and move them horizontally to A1, B1, C1, D1, respectively. Sure, I could cut and paste, but it would take me forever. I tried a macro,

I have about 5000 email addresses located in about 5000 different text areas, some of the text areas also contain 2 email addresses. How could I pull/extract the email addresses out only into its own list? Example;
The lines around the text block represent a field such as A1. Note all the text is contained in box A1.

Is there any formula to find text and return its cell address? This is like when we use Ctrl+F function to find a text, and Excel then highlight the cell contains the referred text. At the same time, the name-bar displays the address of the cell. Now, is there any formula that can perform such task like this?

I have a 2000 row sheet with an address field that contains the apartment number and the address. The text is displayed as unit number, then hyphen and the building/street number for example '101-1234 15th Street'. I'm looking to cut the building number from the cell and paste it into a seperate column. Ideally removing the hyphen completely, so that I have two columns 'unit number' and 'building/street address'.

I am struggling to find a macro which can look at a name in column 'BT' and search it in the address book of Outlook to then place the email address of that person in column 'ED'
There are 35,000+ people in the address book and there may be over 5 email addresses for one name, so is there any way a message can appear for the user to select which email address is correct if there is more than 1 contact for that name?

I have the following code pasted into the worksheet module which used to work fine but no longer does. I didn't touch the code, it just stopped working.
Private Sub WorkSheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Select Case Target.Address
Case "$A$16"
Select Case Target
Case "Custom Color 1": Call CustomColorInput1
Case "Custom Color 2": Call CustomColorInput1
Case "Custom Color 3": Call CustomColorInput1
Case "Custom Color 4": Call CustomColorInput1
Case Else:
End Select
Case "$A$17"
Select Case Target
Case "Custom Color 1": Call CustomColorInput2
Case "Custom Color 2": Call CustomColorInput2
Case "Custom Color 3": Call CustomColorInput2
Case "Custom Color 4": Call CustomColorInput2
Case Else:
End Select
Case "$A$18"
CustomColorInput 1-6 are the same except they input data into different cells F16-F21.
When I attach any of the CustomColorInput macros to a button it works fine. When I try to call it from the worksheet module, the data input box pops up but the data doesn't get entered into the cell. When I try to step through the CustomColorInput macros using F8, the input box pops up, I enter data and press ok. Then I continue with F8 and the debugger jumps to a custom function that I entered (below), which is not called for and is in no way related to the code.
Function PullAfterLast(rCell As Range, strLast As String)
PullAfterLast = Mid(rCell, InStrRev(rCell, strLast) + 1, 256)
End Function
When I close VBA, the data that I typed into the data input box is in the correct cell.
So basically, I'm getting three different responses from the offending code depending on how I call it up. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
More generally, in this and previous occasions, I've had problems with macros that cease to work for no reason that is apparent to me. What are some things that would cause a macro to stop working, without actually changing the code (other than the obvious, like referring to names or worksheets etc. that don't exist anymore)?

I have a spreadsheet that uses INDEX(MATCH()) to validate data fields between two databases that I maintain. I want to get rid of false positives in checking addresses by Find and Replacing common address suffixes to standardize the data in both sets. I found a list of common incorrect suffixes and their correct counterparts and scraped it off of the USPS website and into Excel. I want to manipulate a macro to search any part of the address field and find and replace the full or common suffix with the USPS standard suffix.
An example would be: Circle with Cir. I have a macro that will only find the suffix if it's alone in a field. I need it to search any part of a field. Here's what I'm working with:

I have a spread sheet with thousands of addresses in them.
It does not hold the state however.
I need to separate each part of the address into it's own cell on the same sheet.
Keeping the first part ONLY of the address in the original place the address was in.
However not having the city, or zip in that cell.
For example:
E2 holds the address: 19505 45th Ave. W. Suite A, Lynnwood 90821
(There is always a comma before the city. However sometimes there is another comma before Suite...)
I want the end result to be:
E2: 19505 45th Ave. W. Suite A
I2: Lynnwood
K2: 90821
Then I would like it to loop through all the address's in the "E" Column until it has edited all the address's. It is sad to say but I have been working on this for over 48 hours... Can't believe no one online hasn't come up with a clear answer on how to do this. At this point I am looking for the code to make this happen in Excel VBA.

Sammi Alvarez-Vegan
1201 E. Ponce De Leon Blvd.
Coral Gables, FL 33134
Angie Penns
6870 SW 44th Street
Building G28- #110
Miami, FL 33155
Some names and addresses are 3 lines and some are 4 lines. All have a blank line between. There is a double blank between different name blocks.
I tried to Concatenate so all parts would be in B1 cell. =A1&","&A2&","&A3&","&A4&","&A5&","&A6&","&A7
That did what I wanted for B1, and when I copied it down, B2:B8 was part of an address.
It was not until B9 did the actual next name come into play.
I know there must be a better way
I am using WindowsXP and Excel2007

I have a column with addresses and I need to separate it into columns, the main problem is that sometimes the listing has house number sometimes it does not some time it has town but, some time it does not and the post code is not separated from the county - if no house number then that column is to remain empty.
Eg; (rows 1-2-3)
Bull Corner, Rainham Road South, Dagenham, Essex RM10 8YT
Bernard Road, Romford, Essex RM7 0HX
420, Eastern Avenue, Gants Hill, Ilford, Essex IG2 6NS
Need to enter them into the right columns:
House number - Road - Town - County - Post Code
