code to loop and fill the attached worksheet Slot column with the techs first choice that is not a duplicate above from more senior tech. The techs are listed down column A with the most senior tech able to get first choice. If the next tech down the list bid the same choice as the first tech the the code would select the next choice.

I am limiting choices in a certain cell to a list via data validation (using data validation, allow - list and pointing to the source). I want to limit the next set of choices in the next column (in this example in Column C) for the user based on the choice made in the adjoining cell. For example to keep it simple I will use the following: if the user selected "Fruit" in B1, then the options in C1 would only show "Oranges","Apples", "Pears". If however the user selected "Veg" it would only show "Cucumber", "Lettuce", "Spinach", "Radishes" in the drop down in column C. I can put a prefix in front of the column C data validation list if that is needed to narrow down e.g. FR-oranges, FR-apples etc.

Is it possible to update certain rows only based on the choice selected from a dropdown list
I shall explain this scenario
I have attached a small excel sheet called TESTTHEM which i'm testing
and learning excel simultaneously. On the attached sheet
If i select a value in B4 as BusinessLogic, it should then lookup for relevent rows in MISC worksheet and copy C5:L5 from MISC worksheet and replace
the columns G4:P4
Is it possible to do this in excel?

I have 2 columns "H" and "I" from line 6 to 409. Each cell may start with AR , MA or a number. If cell H6 starts with AR I would like to put that cell into B6. If H6 does not have AR then I would like to check I6 for AR, and put that into B6 if it's found. If I don't find AR in either I would check them both for MA, and write the cell that finds MA into B6. If the AR or MA are not found then I would want it left blank. I did try
IF(FIND("AR",$H7,1),$H7,IF(FIND("AR",$I7,1),$I7,IF(FIND("MA",$H7,1),$H7,IF(FIND("MA",$I7,1),$I7," ")))) in B7.

I currently have a drop down menu in one of my worksheets, in which I have several different text values entered. What I would like to do is link each of those text values to a numerical value, which would be entered in to another cell. So if I select "Option A" from my drop down list, and Option A is equal to 200, I want "200" to show up in another cell. If I select "Option B" from my drop down list, and Option B is equal to 400, I want "400 to show up in that same other cell.

I have a worksheet that has 8 activex listboxes. Each listbox is tied to the sames list of values (identified as a named range). The named range is a list of countries. Each country should only be selected once, therefore, I would like the selected country(ies) to not show up as a choice when the user makes a selection from another listbox. If this is too hard, maybe we can get a msgbx to appear anytime the users tries to select a country that has already been selected.

I have two workbooks. I use excel 2003
I need to update the master workbook with data from the invoices workbook using the following criteria.
In the master workbook column C has unique job numbers.
In the invoice workbook column F has unique job numbers.
Both worksheets are the first worksheet in both workbooks.
If the job number in the invoice workbook is already in the master workbook do nothing.
If the job number is in the master workbook but not the invoice workbook then delete the entire row from the master workbook.
If the job number is not in the master workbook add it to the master workbook.
To complicate matters the master workbook is shared. It is my understanding that shared workbooks can't contain the macros needed ? It would be preferable that the master sheet had them but if not ...

I'm working on making a spreadsheet that allows me to select an item type from a dropdown list (through validation) and then would copy in a range of values from another worksheet based on my dropdown selection.
The set-up: I am primarily concerned with two sheets in my workbook, BiS and Weights. I have a database of items and their associated values listed in Weights. I have already managed to get dropdown lists of my specific item types using named lists and have put that in the BiS worksheet.
What I would like to do is have the values in the Weights worksheet copied over in the same order and number of cells based on what item I select from the dropdown list.

I have a basic formula =C17+'Asset Depreciation 2008 Onwards'!C24, and I want to copy it down just using the drag function. Problem is that the second reference range of cells are in rows and hence when I copy it down it doesn’t automatically update the cell references because it want to update them by column number instead of row number. IE I want it to display =C17+'Asset Depreciation 2008 Onwards'!
D24, instead of C25. Do you know if there is any way of telling Excel that I want it to increase the column number by 1 every time, instead of the row number for this part of the formula?

In Column AA I have created a formula that looks at Column B, and pulls each unique value from that column. add to this formula, or propose a new one, that pulls unique values into column AA if at least one of the rows has an "Actual Finalization Date" in column D that is in 2014?

How would I count unique dates associated with another specific value on a worksheet?
For instance, Lets say I want to count each day a particular person makes a sale.
Example:
Sales PersonSale IDSales Date
Don 1001/6/2014
Don 1401/7/2014

So on another worksheet, I'd have:

I have values in COlumn A, probably about 50K rows, The total unique values on the column A is only about 27. I need to capture all those unique values and paste them in column B. I didn't want to do "Advance filtering" since the workbook has many macros's on it that the user simply click on. Im thingking of creating a loop and compare values already pasted in Column b but then that will take too much time to complete the loop. Is there any easier or yet more efficient way to accomplish this?.

I would need to count unique frequencies in column A, but only for a specified value in column B.
Example:

I am using Excel 2007 and found this formula that counts all unique frequencies in column A: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(A2:A10,A2:A10)>0,1))
In my example, result = 3 Now, I would need to add the possibility to count only for B=1; in my example, result should be = 2.

In the attached file, details sheet contains multiple instances of project with associated costs for each of 2006, 2007 and 2008. What I need is a formula (preferably) or a VBA that select distinct project names and populate column B of summary sheet so I can do a sum if. how to count the unique occurrences in column A based on the value in column B. In the example below, I am trying to count the number of unique names in each state (Illinois=1, Colorado=2, New York=2). I would like the formula to count unique occurrences for the entire column A because I will be adding to the list.

How do I count unique values in Column A only if the values in Column B match?

The formula would return "2" for "a", and "3" for b. Basically, there are names in column B, and I want to know how many unique things are in column A for each person. If there is a better way than a formula (pivot table?) that would be great - like a table that has each of the names (from Column B) and the number of unique items from Column A next to each unique name.

I'm trying to find a way to make the user select only one of five columns in a row. What I’m trying to get is a ranking of 1 to 5. The user will click a cell and it will fill in or the user puts an X in it. In row 8 I want to select A through E but only one of them. If the user changes their mind and clicks another cell, the first cell clears.

I am trying to assign rooms to tenants. I would like to set up a function that reads a tenant's top 5 choices for a room, and looks up a column to see if the choice has already been selected before moving to the next choice. Then if all 5 choices have already been selected, the cell reads error.

I am trying to calculate phone call rates based on several different conditions. *if my phone call has a "DESCRIPTION" of "Local" then I want to add 2 cents onto the "COST" *if my phone call has a DESCRIPTION of "Mobile" then I want to use the formula = SUM(G7*24*60)*0.4+0.1 to calculate the charges *if my phone call has a "DESCRIPTION" of "13 Number" then I want to add 5 cents onto the "COST" I am able to use a formula that allows 2 condition but I have been unable to work out a formula where I can add more conditions.

When I try to insert an 'option' box in which either a check box or radio button are used, only one option can be used. For each option I have to create a new option. But then, each option can be selected, which defeats my purpose. I want to create an option box where there are two option in the box, but the user can only select one of the options, not both, or neither.

I am working on a grading sheet for our company. I would like users to choose from an option button choice (A, B, C, D, F) for each grading category and I would like to write that to a sheet that corresponds with the graded person. The form will have next and previous buttons to move through the grading process - when previous is chosen I would like the option buttons to populate what was stored in the data sheet. I think I can mottle thru the code individually but with 60 option buttons it may take quite some time.
Can I call an option button choice by "Group"? I started coding individually, but it will take a lot of code - surely there is a more efficient answer. A picture of my form is attached at the bottom of this post.

Lets say I have 20 cells. I want to randomly assign a label to the each cell from 5 choices, like "Blue", "Orange", "White", "Green", and "Black". But I want to assign a probability of selecting the labels. So the percent probability of choosing Blue would be 56% and White would be 23%, etc. . . is there a function that allows me to do this?
