Using COUNTIF With Filter Between Two Dates

Oct 10, 2011

I've tried IF/AND, MEDIAN and whatnot, but cannot get this to work:

On Sheet1 I have a list of records with date in column C and a text string such as 'Urgent' or 'Nice To Have' in column H. There are hundreds of these records.

On Sheet2, I want a count of rows that have e.g. 'Urgent' -text string in column H. However, I only want the row added to the count if the date in Sheet1/Column C matches between two dates defined in Sheet2.

Filter & COUNTIF

Jun 13, 2009

This is a Cross-Post because when I tried to post this on the Mr Excel Forum, it did not work properly with the MHT files I used. Mr Excel Forum requires an add-in to Excel called: HTML Maker 2.42, however, I was unable to obtain HTML Maker 2.42 from the owner's website or any alternate websites. Plenty of people viewed my message but no replies. In the attached workbook named: Test 2.xls please view the worksheet named: Summary. On this worksheet the user (user has very little experience in Excel 2003) selects an Operation in cell B2 via a drop-down list and a Task Group in cell B4 via a drop-down list.

After the user has made their selections, I need Excel 2003 to automatically Select worksheet named: Data. I then need it to automatically filter the user selected Operation in column B and the user selected Task Group in column C. Once the filtering is complete, I need Excel to automatically calculate the COUNTIF functions as follows: on columns E and U and populate the results back on to the worksheet named: Summary as follows:

Cell Summary!B8: =COUNTIF(Data!E$3:E$65000,"PERMANENT")
Cell Summary!B9: =COUNTIF(Data!E$3:E$65000,"FUTURE")
Cell Summary!B10: =COUNTIF(Data!E$#:E$65000,"TEMPORARY")
Cell Summary!B11: =COUNTIF(Data!E$3:E$65000,"FUTURE DELETION")
Cell Summary!B25: =COUNTIF(Data!U$3:U$65000,"Y")

Operations has a defined name = Operations!$A$2:$A$12.

Task Group has a defined name = Groups!$A$2:$A$29.

Countif - Visible Cells In Filter Mode

Aug 4, 2003

I have values in cell B2:B50 with values such as Quality, Eng, Purchasing etc. When i go in Auto filter based on Coulmn A2:A50 (with July only) and count "Quality" manually under B2:B50, the answer is 26. But if I write formula Countif(B2:B50, "Quality") I get answer 41.

Is there a way to use Countif function, if I am in the Autofilter mode so as it counts only that rows which are visible under Autofilter and not ALL rows.

COUNTIF On Dates

Dec 1, 2009

I have two different worksheets.

One has dates recorded as dd-mmm-yyyy (e.g., 28-Nov-2009).

On the other, I have to create a lot (over 1000) of countifs against the months/years of these dates. So, for example, if there are several dates on the first workbook that fall in Nov-09, i want to do a countif on the second workbook that tells me how many Nov-09 dates there are.

CountIF Between 2 Dates

The values on this sheet are pulled from another sheet. For the cells that do not contain a date, excel picks "1/0/1900 as default. I've been trying to define IF/ISBLANK formula, but I can't get it to work.

What I have so far is this:
=IF(ISBLANK(=COLINE!A2),"")

I am trying to perform a count of how many dates appear in one month for a specific Column only.

Logic Statement:
IF Column S contains "KP145", then Count dates in Column I, between 1/1/12 & 2/29/12 only.

Countif And Dates

Dec 31, 2006

I have a spreadsheet where I am tracking dollars spent for warranty claims. The information is put in, and a date for the claim is put in as well, which is then formatted to show the date. For example, if I type in 01/13, it shows up as 13-Jan. The date column spreads from D2 to D384.

I would like to make a section that will go through the whole column and give me a total number of claims put in for jan, then in the next cell down the same thing for feb, etc etc. Basically it will be something like this:

Claims per month:

Jan 14
Feb 8
Etc,

I have been trying to use wildcards for countif, such as "*-Jan", or even just "Jan" but it is not returning any result.

How To Countif Columns Of Dates

Aug 10, 2009

I have three seperate Formulas on a summary page that will count dates depending on whether they will be approaching in the next month, whether todays date falls within them and if they are expired or are less than todays date.

Basically the form was developed to monitor a maintanence schedule and give a summary to the person in charge of cleaning so they can forecast there work load. I have managed to get the formula working for "whether todays date falls within them" ("# of Computers than can be cleaned today" as it appears on the summary form) but I cannot seem to get the other formulas figured out.. Well at least the formula that checks to see which computers are past due.

As far as the formula that checks to see which computers will need to be cleaned within the next month, I don't know how to make that work at all considering the setup of my Date input page.

Countif Of Hours And Mins Not Dates

Mar 17, 2009

I have a data feed that gives a column of cells formated mm/dd/yy hh:mm
These are call entries, what i want to do is count all the occurances each hour, so count all the entries say between 9am and 10am. However the column is very long and holds data for many weeks so i want to be able to ignore the date part of the cell.

For example

3/17/09 9:58
3/18/09 10:58
3/18/09 8:58
3/19/09 8:58
3/19/09 9:58
3/19/09 9:58

So the entries between 9 and 10 are = 3

Ideally i do not want to do text to colums and split out the parts. i would like to leave the source data alone.

Dates Not Fully Sorted In Filter

Apr 27, 2012

When clicking on the sorting button of filtered data near the top of a field, I can select different things to show or not show. In a date field, it starts to arrange things by year, which can be expanded to months, which can further expand to show individual days. All well and good.

But many of my dates do not show up in the year categories. They are instead shown below the years as individual dates. Furthermore, sorting the date field in question is imperfect for these dates. Here is an example where some dates from april are jammed inbetween others:

4/2/20124/2/20124/2/20124/2/20124/20/20124/20/20124/20/20124/20/20124/20/2012
...
4/27/20124/27/20124/27/20124/27/20124/3/20124/3/20124/3/2012

These jammed dates are some of the same ones that are orphaned outside the year groupings. All the dates have the same date cell type. No other filters are applied.

Creating VBA Code To Filter By Dates

Jun 3, 2012

I have a macro I am using that uses several date filters. There are filters for the previous month, previous 6 months, previous year, all dates in the future, etc.

Every month I have to edit the macro and change the dates in the macro so it remains accurate. Is there any way I can modify the macro so that the dates are stored in a cell within the workbook and not in the macro?

What I would like is to type the date ranges in a sheet within the workbook and have the macro look to those cells for the date filter instead of typing in exact date ranges within the macro. This way the actual macro code does not need to be modified every month. I would like to only have to change cells within the worksheet and not touch the macro code.

There will be many thousands of records covering a wide time period, so the code needs to ignore the date part and just concentrate on the time.

Probably dead easy but it's 17:04 and I have brainfreeze.

Transform Dates Format And Filter

May 24, 2007

I have a sheet with data imported of another software. In the column "G" are all the dates, and the problem is how can i change the format, because, some of them are "mm/dd/yyyy" and the rest are "mm/dd/yyyy".

Is there a way to change it to the same format? maybe there are some dates like "11/02/2007" that are "02/11/2007" (i don't know how change it with code), and others that the difference between formats is logically clear. I want to get the format "dd/mm/yyyy".

After this i want to apply a filter between two dates, for example, (in dd/mm/yyyy) from01/05/2007 to 30/08/2007.

I've tried different ways, but i'm not able to transform the format of the dates to the same format, although i've read your help and other posts that talk about this.

Advance Filter Dates Seen As Text

When I click on any date let say I selected 24-Mar-2007 in formula bar instead of displaying 3/24/2007 it displays as it is 24-Mar-2007.

But when i double click on this cell it shift to right alignment and display date format 3/24/2007 in formula bar. I have to create a formula using which I can see only some rows of define date range. Means if i define range in two cells 01-Jan-2007 and 01-Jun-2007. The sheet will display only rows having this criteria. But due to this datatype problem before putting the criteria I have to double click each of the row to convert it to Date. RightClick Format cells option is also not help full in this.

Filter By Years In Dates & Other Criteria

Sep 25, 2007

I have mutliple non-contiguous columns that are SUPPOSED to contain dates. If the particular item for that coulmn doesn't require a date then "waived" is typed; others may be blank. I want to apply a filter that will tell me if any one of the columns YEAR is older than "2004". I'm really bad at formulas to bare with me.

I inserted the following formula: =IF(OR(YEAR(N6)<=2004,YEAR(V6)<=2004,YEAR(X6)<=2004,YEAR(AB6)<=2004,YEAR(AD6)<=2004,YEAR(AF6)<=2004,YEAR(AI6)<=2004),"EXPIRED","GOOD")

The problem is that if the cell is blank or if contains "waived" it either produces "#value!" or it reports "True" when it is actually "False". I'm not sharp enough to know how to account for those two conditions in my formula.
