VB Script- Open Another Workbook, Paste Selected Cells
May 12, 2007
I have a cell in one worksheet xxx in workbook XXX column F selected
I want to run a macro that will open (if not already open) Worksheet yyy in workbook YYY (in C:/Test/ directory)
And copy values from columns B and C of workbook XXX worksheet xxx (the row determined by the cell selected in the F column) to columns D and G respectivley of workbook YYY worksheet yyy
I'm hoping the data will be pasted to a new row at the bottom of all existing rows on worksheet yyy (xlup?)
If multiple cells in column F worksheet xxx are selected, it would be nice if the data was sent over to yyy in the same fashion, ordered top to bottom all at once...I don't want to have to select each row individually and run the macro
Is it possible, in vba, to copy two sets of cell values to two clipboards (clipboard1 and clipboard2?), open another workbook and paste those two seperate clipboard values into another two cells?
I have created a spreadsheet some time ago and have been asked to improve on it but I'm rusty with VBA.
I have an automated ordering system that saves each sent order as the date e.g "05-04-2013.xls" but the management team want a graph with the data for the last 4 weeks compared. I have created a seperate workbook called "consumables report.xls" which has a column with the products listed followed by columns "Quantity" and "cost" which is repeated for the 4 weeks of the month.
I want to add a button to prompt the user to choose the saved order e.g "05-04-2013.xls" (all orders saved in same directory) to copy and paste the quantity and cost columns (c8,D69) into "consumables report.xls". I got this to work earlier but it would only paste the formulas and not the values. So I need
A prompt to open workbook Copy range (c8,d69) Close work sheet Paste special .value (c8,D69)
I dont care if it has to open the workbook to copy the data as this will only be used once a month so it dosnt matter how slow the code is.
I currently have a macro that goes into a specified folder and opens all the files within that folder. This works great for me, but if i have to change the location of the folder i need go into the macro and change the destination code.
I was hoping to let other people use this, but not necessarily people who would be able to go in and manually change the folder location. What i was wondering is if there is a function out there which would pop up a browse box which would allow the user to specify the folder location in which the files are kept? This would mean any user could use the tool to open the files without having to have the spreadsheet setup up on their machine.
I have a worksheet with some info that is filled in from other employees. I have Customer Name, Date of Oldest Invoice, Avg. Days Beyond terms in column N42:N44, with the data in column M42:44. I want to copy and paste that into another workbook, I need to transpose the data and then paste it into the next blank row. IF POSSIBLE, I would like to have some of the column headings the same as the above fields, and I would like to paste the data into the correct column heading.
Currently I have the code listed below. It copies the data, opens the spreadsheet, (this is where it fails) find the next blank row and transpose and paste the data. It does transpose and paste the data but it does not look for the next blank row, instead it just transposes and pastes the data in the last cell that was active when the work book was closed.
Code:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()' Paste Macro ' Macro recorded 5/14/14 ' ' Range("O42:O47").Select Selection.Copy
Workbooks.Open Filename:="L:Financial Services! FRA !! Preston !3rd Party Collections Accounts 2014.xls"
how to go about taking data from a closed workbook with a range say A1 to A100, and place it in the work book i have open. I have 3 different sheets in the open work book but all the data is coming from the one sheet in the closed workbook.
I am trying to have a macro that separates a list with unique values in column a, copy the results, open a file name in column AG, and then paste the copied stuff into the open workbook.
Currently, it runs, but when I copy to the new sheet, the thing I want goes where I want it to, but I also get an extra sheet1. how can i change this so the sheet1 doesn't get pasted in?
Sub MC() Dim r As Long, rng As Range, ws As Worksheet Application.DisplayAlerts = False Application.ScreenUpdating = False ActiveSheet.Name = "Sheet1" With Sheets("Sheet1") Sheets.Add().Name = "temp"
Am working on a procedure to open all files in a folder and copy some data from the files into another workbook (master). I have this piece of the code. However, I also need to get the filename (from which data was copied) and paste this into an adjacent cell in the master (so I know which file each data point came from).
What i need to do is Open a Closed workbook (which i have done in the code below)
1 . When this book opens there is a msgbox that needs to have "template" pasted in to then ok automatically clicked ( i have no clue if this can even be done)
2. Then go to Sheet("contactor info") find last row then paste certain info. Below is a peice of code i have from the open workbook but of corse it doesnt work. The red is where it hangs up.
I think I have the comand to select a range of cells, but can not figure how to paste this selection later in the spreadsheet.
This is how the application works.
I have a spreadsheet that I am using as a template. The first 10 rows have to be repeated later in the same spreadsheet after I make a manual page break.
I the spreadsheet I am doing the following commands: With xlApplication.ActiveSheet xlPageBreakManual .Rows(istartrow).Pagebreak = xlPageBreakManual End With
I'd like to know if it is possible to run a macro in a workbook that will open another workbook (of the users choice) extract data from it, such as columns from its sheets then paste that data into the workbook the macro is running from. The file to be opened will change, so i've found some code that enables the user to select the file to open then open it.
Dim strFile As String strFile = Application. GetOpenFilename If strFile <> "False" Then Workbooks.Open strFile
This brings up the standard windows choose file to open box, then opens the selected file. Am I correct in thinking that the Dim here will store the file name I select in the open file box? If so, I'd like to know how to select the workbook using the dim so I can manipulate it from the workbook I'm running the macro in. Incidentally, once the the data has been copied, I'd like the workbook opened with the macro to be closed.
write a macro - Condition: When i select "Audit Round" = "Round 1" in B2 and press a button it will automatically copy data from B5:B8 and paste special value in C5:C8. Likewise if I select "Audit Round" = "Round 2" in B2 then it should lookup "Round 2" in "Row 4" and paste special values from B5:B8.
I am successfully opening a .csv file using a variable value stored in a named range in my Main file (the variable includes the directory and path). I copy data from the .csv file to the Main file then I need to close the .csv file without saving but I want to do that by using the
Windows("xxxx").Activate
command where "xxxx" is the namedrange in my Main file which stores the .csv filename (without the directory and path prefix).
I can use the
ActiveWindow.ActivatePrevious
command but if I have another workbook open, this one closes instead of the .csv file I opened from the macro.
I realise this is probably very basic and I've searched the forums but can't find any identical postings.
have two worksheets, "Entry form" and "Database" in my workbook. I am trying to put together a macro button to find the cell value D5(Entry form) in the column A:A (database), if found, copy selected cells (B5:D5,B7,B9) from entry form and paste in the adjacent cells of the row with the value in the database sheet.
VB: 'Match value D3 and replace data Dim sht As Worksheet, outsht As Worksheet, r As Long Dim rfoundCell As Range
I am trying to create a workbook that calcualtes the sum of selected cells from another workbook. I have quite a few formulas, so i would like to use the fill command to help. I cannot get excel to pick up the pattern so I can use the fill formula. The pattern is as follows.
Sum(n5:n11) Sum(n12:n18) Sum(n19:n25) Sum(n26:n32) etc.
I am using code to filter my 4 sheets Greater then 0 (zero)
After apply above filter now i need to copy multiple rows and paste on another specific workbook for paste i m using below code:
for 1st sheet with the name ("V2")
for 2nd sheet with the name("LV")
For 3rd sheet with the name ("F2")
and 4th sheet with the name("L2")
If I play above code one by one all is going very well,,,,,,or if use in this way all is going very well
But here is a big problem..........if any sheet have no value greater then 0(zero)....then code paste all data... e.g shssts("LV") .Range("C5:C54").Copy but C5:C54 have no data greater then 0(zero) and it will paste on another sheet c5:c54 and again new sheets data will paste below the c54 while c5:c54 have no data.
So I want if any sheet have no data with range is greater then 0(Zero) then skip the copy paste code or use like SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible) .
I have Monthly sales sheets that import my cash register data into them. I wanted to set them up to do everything without being there. So I have my task manager open excel at 9:30pm everyday and it runs the macro to import the data into the correct day of the month. Here is the workbook
open macro-
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim dTime As Date dTime = Time If dTime >= TimeValue("9:30 PM") And _ dTime < TimeValue("9:40 PM") Then ImportData End If End Sub
This is in my July spreadsheet only. So is there a way to make it know which month spreadsheet to open on the 1st of the month? So come August 1st it will automatically open the August workbook and input the data for the first day? By using the date?
I have a presentation that I open from a short-cut. After the "Welcome Page" is opened, I want to open a second workbook in a new instance of Excel after 4 seconds.
I think that I can open the new instance of excel, but I don't know how to activate the macro after 4 seconds.
I'm sure there is a function someplace for this that can be used in a macro.
Then, after the second Workbook is opened, I want the Welcome Page "Workbook" closed, leaving the second Worbook open.
My code in the first workbook generates a new workbook with a variable in the filename, then copies the cells from the first workbook to the newly created workbook. This code is working properly when used in a draft worksheet I use for testing. As soon as I put it in the master file, an error message pops up "Runtime error 1004 : select method of range class failed". Then the debug sends me to the line " Cells.Select ". What should I be looking for, why does my code work on one file but when i put it in another one it doesn't ?
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim line_counter As Long Dim prm_line_value As Boolean prm_line_value = False Do prm_line_value = Sheets("Rate").Cells(1 + line_counter, 1).Value line_counter = line_counter + 1 Loop Until prm_line_value = False line_counter = line_counter - 1 Dim Wk As Workbook Dim number_of_new_wb_needed As Integer If line_counter < 5000 Then.....................
I have around 200 excel spreadsheets/workbooks with identical ranges but each with different data. There is a total of 5 columns and 225 rows in each spreadsheet/workbook. Looks something like this:
Workbook 1:
Title 1 Title 2 Title 3 Title 4 Title 5
A2 B2 C2 D2 E2
[Code] ....
The Cells I need to copy are in BOLD. I am trying to paste them onto another workbook as follows
Main Workbook:
Workbook # File 2 File 3 File 4 A2 Title 5 A3 Title 5
[Code] ....
As you can see, each workbook has identical A2 and Title 5 columns, so they only need to be copied once onto the Main workbook where data from the B and E columns are different for each Workbook. So not only I need to copy and paste from a Workbook onto the Main Workbook, but the code has be able to paste it onto a new row in the Main Workbook (where each row in the Main Workbook will correspond to the data copied from Workbooks 1-200.
I am new to VBA but I tried a code where I would copy and paste one cell at a time onto the same workbook and not onto the Main Workbook, and then how to copy and paste from one workbook to another, but as you can imagine that would take a long time:
It seems like I need some kind of loop, where it would copy and paste a set of cells and repeat the entire process until it reaches the end of the Workbook 1 while making sure when doing same thing for workbook 2, that the data pastes onto a new row onto the Main Workbook. I feel I have the logic down, but its in the syntax where I am failing.
how to loop through workbooks in a certain directory and copy the rows in sheet1 where column B contains numbers greater than zero, and then pasting them into a new master workbook. The sheets will be named differently each week but will always be in the same directory.
I am using this code to hide or unhide rows of text on another sheet:
VB: Sub ProcessSheet1ChangeOnCellJ7(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim sAddress As String Dim sValue As String
'Get the address of the cell that changed without '$' signs sAddress = Target.Address(False, False)
[Code]....
When the "Not Pursuing" list box option is selected (in cell "J7" or "J8" in Sheet 1) I need to add (or over-write) "Not Pursuing" to the range of cells in column "B" (in the "Tasks" sheet), but only for that particular Goal, meaning a limited range of cells in column "B". If the "Pursuing - Show All Tasks" option is selected for a Goal then these same cells need to be blank so that the appropriate person can enter their name into the cell.
The purpose for adding "Not Pursuing" automatically to these yellow highlighted cells is that it will facilitate filtering of tasks by individual in the "Tasks" sheet..
Again I have tried several times to upload a sample file and am unable to, which I know makes it more difficult to solve. (Is there some common mistake people make? I know it's an allowed format and is very small in file size....)
Code solution can be entered directly beneath:
VB: If Target.Value = "Not Pursuing" Then ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("29:29").EntireRow.Hidden = False ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("30:48").EntireRow.Hidden = True
