VBA - Cell Copy Leaves Behind Dotted Line

Feb 17, 2012

I'm using the following code

Code:
Sub UpdateValues()

' Purpose of this Module is to properly update all the values of the OEE Worksheets.

Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim r As Range

Set r = Range("C30:H77")

For Each ws In Worksheets

[Code] ...........

However, I'm getting a dotted line fragment left over

I suspect it's because I used .Copy in the formula. Is there a better method?

Remove Dotted Line Around Option Button

Sep 7, 2007

I have created a questionnaire with multiple answers in a userform with multipage.

Everything works fine except on about 10 out of my 30 questions, one of the four answers (all opition buttuns) has a fine dotted line around it.

I really have no clue as to where this line comes from. I have tried deleting the option button and replacing it with a new one. This helped for the concerned button but now the dotted line appeared on another answer of the same question! I have done it several times and each time the dotted line simply shifts from one answer to another but never dissapears! The odd thing is that this only concerns 10 questions, the other 20 are fine...

Correction Of Formula: When The Result Is 0 It Just Leaves A Blank Cell Without A 0

Jun 7, 2007

I have this Formula in a excel sheet =IF(AND(COUNT(F12;G12)=2;G12<F12);G12-F12;IF(AND(COUNT(F12;G12)=2;G12>F12);ABS(F12-G12);""))

My problem is that when the result is 0 it just leaves a blank cell without a 0.
Can i correct this so that when the result is 0 it will actually show a 0 in the cell? I canīt put a 0 in the end of the formula because then it shows zeroes in all the cells without information aswell.

Search Unopen Sheet For Value / Change Color Of Line / Copy Line Paste?

Nov 17, 2012

Our small family business has a mailing campaign that we track with excel. However, we're very concerned about users opening the macro-filled master spreadsheet. Instead, we'd like a macro to do everything for them.

When a letter comes back in the mail with a bad address, the user types the Street number and street name such as "1234 Main St" into $A2 of c:dropbox eturned.xlsm, presses the macro button, and it should do the following:

Opens and Searches "Sheet1", "column S", in the file c:dropboxmaster1.xlsm, and finds the LAST instance of the address typed.Selects that entire rowCopies the entire row.Pastes the contents into the row of the active cell in the destination spreadsheet, overwriting what was there before. Such as $2:$2 if the address was typed in $A2.In the master1.xlsm spreadsheet, sets the entire copied row color to "gray".closes master1.xlsm and saves changes.

The end result is that the user now has an identical row of information in their spreadsheet, and the master spreadsheet's row is colored gray indicating it has been completed.

Other notes:I'm open to more efficient steps than this if you have them. There are approx 5,000 records to search through in master1.xlsx at any given time.

Insert Line And Copy 1 Cell From Above

I have a large spreadsheet of demographic data. In column A there is a name, in column B there is Address1 and in column C there is Address2. First I need to insert a new line under each line of data. Then I need the Address2 data (column C) of each line to be copied/pasted to that new inserted line, but in the Address1 column (column B).

Highlight Last Line Of Text And Copy To Line Below?

Mar 14, 2014

I have a spreadsheet where on a weekly basis data is copied in to various tabs. I then have a "formula" tab where I have a single line of formulas which look up the various data tabs and extract the results I want to show.

Currently each week, before I import the new data into the various tabs, I copy the last row in the "formula" tab and paste to the line below it. This contains all the working formulas. I then paste values only on the line that I copied, thus "locking in" the values it calculated with that weeks data. This means that each row then contains the results with that week's data, and this will grow week by week.

What I am looking for is a formula that automates this process. So let's say that row 30 is the final row of data on my formula tab, it contains the formulas I want to use. I would need a macros that does the following:

1. Looks up last row (row 30)
2. Copies last row (row 30)
3. Pastes to next empty row (row 31)
4. Pastes values only to second last row (row 30)

I'm not too great with writing macros, I've found plenty that can find the last row, but I can't get them to work to highlight that row.

Copy Info From Cell Based On Line / Row Number?

Jun 17, 2008

My company has an excel file that has our new customer's information (colum A & B are first & last name;Column C is customer email; Colum D is cutomer phone, ect...)

once that information has been entered we have another excel file that will load all of a customer's information, and then be pasted into a welcome letter into MS Word for their confirmation & emailed to them

The problem I'm running into, Is that I do not know how to populate my nex excel sheet with the info I want only from a specific line.

I would like to enter a line / row number (for example '6') and than have excel go to that file & copy/paste the name, phone, email, company name, ect. into my new excel sheet

I have one that works already, but the previous owner PW protected it & hid his formulas/macros, so I'm in a dead end now...

Dynamic Named Range :: Does Not Copy The Formula That References A Cell From Another Line

May 29, 2007

I am having a few problems with dynamic named range in excel 2000.

When adding new data to the range, excel extends the range correctly, but only copies some of the formula correctly. It does not copy the formula that references a cell from another line.

I am trying to create a excel spreadsheet and have a formula =e10-e9, which does not copy down.

Clear Contents Of Dotted Selection

Apr 24, 2014

I'm playing along with Excel. I discovered it doesn't like cutting and pasting in VBA. This screws up formulas in cells.

It much prefers copying and pasting. So this involves an extra step, going back to the cells you just copied and clearing them.

So I have a selection of cells and I just copied them to a different location. Naturally the location I just copied it to then becomes selected.

I would like to go back to the cells that have the dotted selection around them and clear them. If I simply use Selection.ClearContents it will clear the currently selected cells, NOT the dotted selection.

Command to clear the contents of the dotted selection?

Evaluate A 'dotted' Number Using Formulae (not UDF)

Apr 12, 2006

Is there any way to 'evaluate' a dotted number (similar to an IPv4
address but not just those) using standard worksheet formulae (ie no
UDFs, VBA, or ATP functions)?

To make it a little more complicated, I need to be able to evaluate
not just IP addresses (although that would be a use) but also a
'number' such as 9.0.2 compared to 8.7.5 so that they can be sorted
and / or compared.

The views expressed are my own, and not those of my employer or anyone
else associated with me.

My current valid email address is:

This is valid as is. It is not munged, or altered at all.

It will be valid for AT LEAST one month from the date of this post.

If you are trying to contact me after that time,
it MAY still be valid, but may also have been
deactivated due to spam. If so, and you want
to contact me by email, try searching for a

Dotted Lines Around ListBox Items

When I populate ListBox2 it comes out clean (Photo #2.)

what I might need to change so that ListBox1 does not have the dotted lines around each item?

Scrolling up and down w/ListBox1 will remove some of the dotted lines.

Deleted Data Leaves A Trace

Dec 8, 2009

I have a worksheet where I've deleted data in cells and rows. I am left with alternating rows of data and blank rows however a macro that I've been running to delete blank rows does not work on some of the rows.

To delete the data I used the Find and Replace feature and it seems that afterward the cells where this data was is now somehow marked as not completely empty. It appears empty but if I use the Control-Right Arrow combination from Column A, it skips over some cells but stops on a cell that used to contain data. If I press the Delete key it clears the cell completely and if I do that on all the cells the Ctrl-Right Arrow stops on until the end of the row, the macro works on that row...but not the next row of seemingly empty cells.

It's not spaces and there's no apostrophes and the cells are all formatted as General (Number Style) and Normal (Styles). I've even copied the format of a row of all deleted cells but that still does not completely clean out the "empty" cells. I've also run the Inspect Document command to remove what may be there but same results.

Is there something I can do to locate and remove this mysterious data?

Macro Leaves All The Cells In The Range Selected

Jan 20, 2006

I have a worksheet with ever expanding data - rows at the bottom of the data
are continually added. I have a simple macro that sorts all of the data
according to preset parameters and selects the next blank cell in column A,
ready for more data:

Sub Macro5()
Range("SortRange").Select
Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("SortRange"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:= _
xlGuess, OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:= _
xlTopToBottom
Do Until ActiveCell.Value = IsEmpty(True)
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Activate
Loop
End Sub

When running the Macro, this leaves all of the cells in the range 'selected'
(ie; coloured-over). What do I need to add to the Macro to just select the
cell in Column A and remove the highlighting from all the other cells?

Automatically Change To Proper Case Once The User Leaves Any Of The Referenced Cells

In my worksheet there are ranges A3:C37, E3:E37, J3:K37 and P3:P37 that all contain text that I would like to automatically change to proper case once the user leaves any of the referenced cells.

I have tried various codes form this forum and searched for hours on the net for a solution to do this but no matter what I do/try nothing works (for long)

Another forum user did help me out with some code but there was an issue with column C, L & O (which are set as drop down lists) and when the code was put into the workbook these columns stopped working and froze the app.

Copy To Last Line Of Data And Paste

Sheet 1 is "working data" and sheet 2 is "Solution" As the title suggests, in sheet 1 is where all my calculations are performed, then it is pasted into sheet 2 and formatted. My issue is I need the information from "working data" to be copied and pasted into "Solution" but the information from "working data" will have a variable amount of rows (currently there are over 10,000, but their could be a few thousand more in any given month. The copied range from "working data" will always start in cell A1 and then should select all rows down until it finds a cell in column A empty, then the data should be pasted into "Solution" starting with cell A40.

At the moment i'm using a loop, I had some code from another thread yesterday but this code creates new sheets if it can not find a sheet named the same

I will need to run this as 1 i.e all 7 together or 1 at a time.

Copy Multiple Rows To Another Sheet On Next Available Line?

Dec 28, 2012

I am trying to copy multiple rows (ie: rows that have data in them) over to another sheet on the next available line.

I have the code to go through and filter the data that I want to use. Now I have anywhere from 1-50 rows of data all sequentially together that I need to either copy or move to another sheet ("Data") on the next available line.

I have this code so far:

Worksheets("To Be Worked").Range("B5:K5").Value = Worksheets("Data").Range("A1").End(xlDown).Offset(1, 0)

But this only includes 1 row so I either have to loop the VBA or expand the range to include multiple rows. Both of which I don't know how to do. And that code doesn't work too well either.

Copy Cells And Paste Into New Line Of Different Worksheet

Feb 13, 2014

I would like to copy several cell entries from one worksheet ("Entry") and paste then into a new line of another worksheet ("Contact DB") which will serve as a repository/database. Ideally, I would like to clear the values in the first "Entry" worksheet once this is done.

The thing that is throwing me off is that the data entered into my first "Entry" worksheet is not all on one row. However, I have recorded all the starting point references and destination cells (i.e. "B2" from "Entry" --> "A5" of "Contact DB") so it's ready to go into code.

Using the following code (which I tested for copying and pasting the first cell of interest) but I can't seem to get it to work:

Code:
Public Sub Macro1()
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Sheets("Entry").Range("B2").Copy
Sheets("Contact DB").Range("A5").Paste

End Sub

I'm brand new to vba so I'm struggling to understand the code and where it goes. That brings me to Q2 (and a dumb one it is). Where do I put this code? I already have one bit of code (for allowing multiple entries in a dropdown list) for the "Entry" worksheet under the "Microsoft Excel Objects" folder. Is this where this copy and paste could would go too? Or do I need to insert a "module?"

Copy/Paste With Single Line Using VBA (2007)

Sep 21, 2009

I had the following code that worked great with Excel 2003, but I receive an error with Excel 2007.

Dim Master As Workbook
Set Master = Workbooks("Master.xls")

For Each wb In Workbooks
wb.Activate
If wb.Name Like "S04*" Then _
If Not Range("A2") = Empty Then _
Range(Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp), Range("A2")).EntireRow.Copy _
Master.ActiveSheet.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Offset(1)
Next wb

I receive error 1004 "application defined or object defined error" when it tries to paste to the "Master" sheet using the the above lines.

Is there something in the formatting that has changed with 2007? I'm guessing I have to slightly change the line in bold.

I am trying to get a macro that, when run, increases the revision letter in column B. The problem is that we do not use a few of the letters such as I, O, P and Q.

I thought it would be best to have a table of the used revision letters (Say in Z1 to Z40)
Look at the text in column B of the row currently selected and find it in the Z1:Z40 table
Move one cell down the Z1:Z40 table and copy that text back into column B on the row initially selected.
