Jul 21, 2009I am using the follwoing code which works as it is supposed to except that it does not remove the duplicate entries, almost as though the code skips that step. How can I fix this?

I already have a working code to delete the lines but I now need to be able to apply this macro across all sheets in one go. I have included a sample excel sheet with the ‘delete blank rows’ macro and also the code I have been trying to use (without success) to apply the macro across all sheets. The apply macro to all sheets I’ve been trying to use is:

Nov 29, 2007I'm in the middle of coding a macro to convert files. About 30 minutes ago, the VBA editor started doing something completely baffling. I was copying and pasting this code into the editor from Ozgrid - simple macro to delete blank rows.

Apr 15, 2014Pivot tables. I have a dataset from which I make a pivot table. In row labels I have 4 different columns of data below each other.
Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
Level 4
In some cases the data only has three levels, for example:
Earth
Europe
Germany
In other cases it has four levels of data:
Earth
Europe
Germany
Berlin
If I make a pivottable it will give 4 levels for all items. In the first case I mentioned, the data will state:
Earth
Europe
Germany
(blank)
Is it possible to remove the (blank) row as it does not provide any useful information..

Aug 27, 2009I am a CAD person, trying to edit a large spreadsheet for reading into CAD.
I need to merge 2 worksheets into a 3rd.
Then search and delete the blank rows. (There is only 3 columns in the document, but can be as many as 5,000 rows or more)
The Cad program does not like blank rows, so I have to delete them if users insert them, and there may be several in a row. (Users need only edit one of the worksheet, No. 2)
The 3rd worksheet must then be saved to a Tab-Delimited txt file in the same location on the network as the xls document.
I am able to select the worksheets and copy to a 3rd, but how to go to the end of the data, before merging the other data from the 1st worksheet into the third.
Remove Ranges Bounded By Blank Rows
Jul 24, 2007Once a week I get a spreadsheet with 39 separate batches of data, only across 5 columns, and each batch is separated by a blank row. The data batches are not the same 'height' in other words some may comprise just 20 rows and others as many as 550 rows - also, each week they are different to the previous week.
I've little experience with Macros, and failed dismally in trying to do the following:
1/. Delete the rows containing the first batch of data - including the 'blank' row at the foot of that batch.
2/. Save the file in it's original name after deleting the rows.
Then I perform another task with the remaining data, before repeating the steps above
It sounded simple before I started, but my recorded macro (cringe) seemed to make the assumption that every time I wanted to delete the 'top' batch of data rows, it would be the same length or number of rows as the batch I had used to 'record' the macro - in recording the macro I used shift+end+down to identify the rows I wanted removed, but the macro seemed to think I wanted to delete (say) Row 8 to Row 278 - which was true of the 'height' of the first batch of data but none after that.
Missing Blank In Dynamic Range
Aug 4, 2006I have a named dynamic range with the source
=OFFSET(Data!$J$2,0,0,COUNTA(Data!$J:$J),1)
Thia is set up as the data validation list in a cell with a drop down
list It is set so that once the drop down is activated there is the
option of selecting a blank from the bottom of the list so that if you
activate the cell in error you don't have to delete any entry you are
forced to make, you can select the blank and leave the cell blank. This
works fine until the list gets quite long at which time there is no
option of a blank.I don't know the number in the list where this starts
but certainly a list over 100 has this problem. On shorter lists the
blank is selectable. The selection is correct as when you check the
named list it shows the correct range. I would welcome any views on
solving this if it can be resolved.
Dynamic Range To Look Past Blank Cells
Aug 11, 2008I am having the same problem as this thread Dynamic Ranges with blank cells.
I've recently been pointed in the direction of dynamic ranges (named ranges that use OFFSET and COUNTA to expand to cover the whole of a list, even if the number of rows used is frequently changed).
They seem to have a big drawback, in that the range will not go to the bottom of the list if the list has blank cells in (because the COUNTA for the column of interest does not equal the number of rows in the list).
A typical named range might look like this:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$2,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$A$2:$A$25),1)
I tried to post in it but it's too old.
I have been to the link posted in that thread about advanced dynamic named ranges but inserting a row with numbers in it and then hiding it is not suitable for me as i deal with other peoples spreadsheets so need to always be working with the Active Sheet.
VBA To Search Copied Range For Blank Cells And Remove Them
Jun 18, 2014In my current sheet, I have a button which pastes the contents of the user's clipboard into cell A20. The data that is being pasted is a simple, single-column range of data that may or my not contain blank cells. When this button is clicked, the user's clipboard should already have data.
Some of these pasted ranges may go from A20:A40, A20:A60, or even A20:A73. The point is, the length of the pasted information is variable.
I am looking for VBA code which can look at the recently pasted range in A20:AX, find blank cells, and remove them. Here is my current code (very simple), which is only the paste function:

=COUNTBLANK(C6:AD2506)
But I dont want it to count the cells if the entire row, within that cell, i.e. C6:AD6, is blank.
It should only count the blank cells within a row if there has been some data entered on that row..provided it has been entered within the specified range.
VBA Dynamic Range Till First Blank But Cells Contain Formula?
Jul 22, 2014I've normally just dynamically selected a range using the xldown feature but because this row contains formula it goes always down to the bottom of the formula instead of the last cell which isn't blank.
How would i go about generating this dynamic range that stops at the first cell that contains no value (but has a formula)? Perhaps a do while loop which looped down until it hit the first blank and then assigned the cells it had looped through as the range?
Adjust Dynamic Range To Ignore Formulas In Blank Cells?
May 19, 2014Attached is a spreadsheet I am working on that has a series of graphs with defined dynamic ranges. I am having 2 separate issues on 2 different tabs.
1) Ranges named AirRecBra4 (and Bra10); AirComBra4 (and Bra10); AirRemBra4 (and Bra10) are not pulling in data from the correct data points. Instead of using the last 26 data point, they are currently beginning at the top of the column (currently cells 11 to 36 is their respective columns). The formulas are copy and pasted from working offset ranges in the same tab but are reading differently.
2) On the last 6 tabs beginning with Stn Backlog, I want to have defined formulas beginning in cell B119 and continuing downward to at least F200. However, when I add the formulas, the offset reads the formulas as being data and adjusts for that. I do not know how to adjust the dynamic range to ignore formulas in blank cells.

Feb 22, 2009I have what I thought was going to be a simple function to create and, after a week of getting more error messages than I've had in a year, I'm ready to throw in the towel. Situation: There are two worksheets in the same workbook [Excel 2003]. One is for "Posting" details about technicians and their work orders. The other is a "Report" that summarizes the number of workorders open, closed, etc.
In the "Posting" sheet, I have created dynamic name ranges for two columns: Technician (4-digit text field) and InDate (date field that, if blank, means that the technician has not closed this work order. My ranges are set up like this:
Technician=OFFSET(Posting!$B$2,0,0,COUNT(Posting!$B:$B),1)
InDate=OFFSET(Posting!$D$2,0,0,COUNT(Posting!$D:$D),1)
So all I need to do is to total all the blank InDates for each Technician by employee number. I've tried COUNT to SUMPRODUCT. A co-worker got it to work with using...=SUMPRODUCT((ISBLANK(Posting!$D$2:$D$65307))*(Posting!$B$2:$B$65307=4288))
His solution was to list almost every available cell in each column. I just can't help but think that the dynamic name range should be able to work but I can't get it right. I think I'll choke if I get one more "N/A" or "VALUE! error.

Hide Rows In A Dynamic Range
Jan 17, 2007I'm trying to hide all rows from row 3 to a variable row. I've struggled to simply select the rows that I want to hide. I have managed to select a range (containing the rows that I want to hide). I now need to select the rows contained in the range currently selected and then hide them. My code is as follows:

Sheets("Program").Range("B3", ActiveCell.Offset(LastProgramRow - 10, 0)).Select
Selection.Row.EntireRow.Hidden = True
The last line of code fails. I have tried modifying it to variations of:
Sheets("Program").Row (3), ActiveCell.Offset(LastProgramRow - 10).Select
but this also fails. How can I change this code so that only the row is selected and not a column?

I have searched for possible answers, however they use xldown, or xlup which works great for non-empty cells. My problem need to select the area where there are empty cells. Here is a snap shot of the data looks like:

The cell with number is where I got the formulas. Now i wish to fill that formula with the rest of the area. However, the problem is the number of rows and number of columns may change in the future. So I need to select those empty areas in a dynamic way.

Jun 23, 2014I've got a code that generates some worksheets in a fairly large workbook. The code is run monthly and replaces the already existing worksheets.
The problem is that each newly generated worksheets contains more than 1 million rows, which means that the size of each worksheet is around 5MB.
I need a code which allows me to delete all blank rows starting with row 1000 in those worksheets.

Aug 12, 2013I have a spresdsheet with a few tousand rows that is updated daily. My objective is to remove duplicates from colum C keeping always the most recent (date on colum B). Sometimes collum C will have blank cells and the rows of said blank cells can't be deleted.
