View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a work book with 3 sheets. Sheet 1 is the main sheet and sheets 2 and 3 will use (I hope vlookup) to update 3 columns from info in sheet 1. my attempt at a vlookup call in sheet 2 is: =VLOOKUP($b3,[master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65,false)
my understanding is that: - $b3 is the cell in sheet 2 that will be updated as a result of the vlookup call. - [master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65 refers to range $B$3:$B$65 on sheet1 of master_AoJ_2. it does not work... infact I get nothing at all. when I type the call into cell $b3 of sheet2 excel thinks it is stariaght text. this is how I coded the function call =VLOOKUP($b3,[master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65,false)
In range D2:D7 there are formulas with dates where message should return saying please check the date which is overdue but the codes does not work
In range D8:D11, these dates are normal without formulas and works with the code
DueDateFail.xls
If I change the code in Sheet1 to D2:D7 the codes won't work but do work with D8:D11 because the dates in D8:D11 don't have the formulas like D2:D7 has
I have multiple workbooks ( with unique names) under same folder. Each workbook has "Report-Corn" sheet.
I would like to copy cell "P15" from each (workbook-> report-corn -> P15) and paste to Master.xls workbook -> Sheet 1 one after another which is also located under same folder.
I would like a code that will look for a workbook and then look in cell a5 and return number to a45 of active work sheet. I would also need it to add a6 + a7 + a8 and return sum to a46
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a custom menu and saved it as an .xla, one of the functions on the menu is to open up a workbook from a file path. The second option on the menu is to run a macro from the custom menu that is saved in this opened workbook.
Is it possible to write a code that will go off and find this macro from this open workbook?
The reason I wanted to do this is so the user has two options to enter data from however I didn't want to copy the macro over from the original workbook as in time the workbook will be updated
I have created an Excel add-in (.xla) which contains many custom functions. This add-in is stored as read-only on a network drive. I reference it from various spreadsheets and calls to it work perfectly unless I put a call to it in the Workbook_Open event. When I make a call to a function in the add-in from a spreadsheet's Workbook_Open event, Excel crashes completely and I get the dialog that offers to recover the file and report the problem (i.e. Excel shuts down). I have no doubt that this is being caused by the call to the add-in specifically from the Workbook_Open event as removing this call solves the problem. Also, it is not related to a particular function as I have tried various ones; it is ANY call to the add-in from Workbook_Open that causes it. Is this a bug in Excel or is there something that I need to do before referencing the add-in in Workbook_Open? I have tried Application.CalculateFull and Doevents prior to making the call to the add-in and neither approach worked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a database of pricing codes made up of several sheets. One of the sheets has a table of discounts. Each genre of product is assigned a code that determines the discount. My pricing code sheets include the discount codes. I want to use the discount code in the pricing code tables to call on the discount table and populate a cell in the pricing table with the discount multiplier. So...
In Sheet1, Column A has the discount code for whatever product line is in the row. In Sheet14 are all the discount codes and all their respective discounts. I want to take the code and search for it in Sheet14 and then place it in column F for each row of Sheet1. So the code in A1 is "abc". I want to find the row in Sheet14 column A with code "abc" and take the value in column L of that row (the discount multiplier) and place that value in F1. I would have every row of the pricing code tables doing the same thing.
The discount multipliers change often so I want to be able to just drop a new table into Sheet14 with the updated multipliers and have all my other sheets reflect the change without having to manually enter the new multipliers.
Yes, another homework for you guys. I have found the code to open the "Find and Replace" dialogue box but is it possible to open it with "within:" Workbook instead of Sheet?
This is the code that open up the dialogue box ..
I am trying to turn this call tracking sheet into an electronic one. Is is possible to have check boxes in the empty cells that will allow someone to just click them as they go along and it would create a total at the bottom to avoid countless hours of counting these sheets. Or even turn "Trans CM" into a button that you can click and it would keep track of how many times that specific button was clicked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a macro working that updates things in different sheets, the sheets have peoples names in (this can't be changed).
When running the macro its fine, but if a new person is added i would need to update the macro for every sheet (the macro can be run from every sheet within the workbook).
I've noticed if you right click the sheet button and go to properties (or something) that it shows (Name) Sheet2 and Name Joe Blogs.
Instead of the macro calling to Name i want it to call to (Name), is this possible?
The code that calls the sheet looks something like this:
Sheets.("Joe Blogs")
Instead of looking for Joe Blogs i want it to look for Sheet2
If I have 12 sheets in a workbook (Jan, Feb,etc..) can I have those names in specific cells (A1,B1,etc..) and call them out in a formula as the cell name as opposed to the actual name?
like A1!C4:C100
instead of Jan!C4:C100

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've created a chart in sheet 1 in a workbook. I want to copy and paste that chart into another sheet (lets take sheet 2) of the same workbook. I am using Excel 2010 version.
Whenever, I try to copy a graph and want to do "Paste Special as Link picture". The problem I am facing as "Paste Link" option is inactive.
I am attaching the Excel for your reference.
This is the code I use to call a macro when the macro Im calling is in the same workbook.
[Code].....
However, I would like to call this same macro when using another workbook. I copied the macro "Clearformating" and pasted into a personal macro workbook module. However when I add this code to the sheet tab it will not run the macro.
I also tried this code.
[Code] .....
The two sheets are...
1. Sheet1.xlsx (regular excel sheet as the extension is .xlsx)
2. Consolidated.xlsm (macro enabled sheet as its extension is .xlsm)
1. Copy both the files on your system under a particular folder.
2. Now make 9 replica's of Sheet1.xlsx and name them as Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4, .......... Sheet10
3. Open the sheet Consolidated.xlsm and see the button i have added called "Pull Data".
Now write down the code by adding a Module in that excel sheet from the code window.
4. Write a code that will open each of these sheets (Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4, .......... so on) one at a time and will copy the data from these sheets to the Consolidated.xlsm sheet.
5. Make sure that the data is appended(and not overwritten) from the multiple sheets (Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3). that is once you paste the data from sheet1 to Consolidated.xlsm then the Sheet2 data will be pasted at the end and after that sheet3 data will be pasted and so on..
6. In this way at the end we will have all the data from Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3...in the consolidated sheet.
7. The Division column in the Consolidated sheet will have the value of first row in these multiple sheets. So after making the replicas of Sheet1, please change the value in first row (Range A1) to any other value to avoid the confusion.
8. I have highlighted the data for two sheets in yellow and grey color in the consolidated sheet.
I have been trying to edit a code which previously saved a copy in a new workbook to a specific folder/path. (Additionally it copies and clears some figures, but this is working as it should.)
However I would like the copy to be saved at the same location as the original workbook, regardless of the path the original workbook is saved.
I.e if I need to move the workbook containing the code to a new folder/location, when using the macro, the new copy should be stored in the same folder/location as the original one.
For now it is only saving the copy into "My Documents"
Code:
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
' Macro recorded 16-02-2009 by ceng
'
Sheets("Bunker ROB").Select
Sheets("Bunker ROB").Copy
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
ActiveWorkbook.Path & Range("D3"), _
FileFormat:=xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled, CreateBackup:=False
[Code] ........
I have data in 2 different workbooks, and I need to transfer all data in 'Jx_ex1' to sheet1 in the 'template' workbook, and all data in 'Gr_ex1' to sheet2 in 'template' workbook. All data should be transferred to the same cell numbers, from A1 to Y5000. I actually have loads of workbooks to transfer to the template but if I have an example with the two then im sure I can work out how to modify it. All files will be in the same folder.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.
Code:

Dim InitFileName As String
Dim fileSaveName As String
Dim wshape As Shape
InitFileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & Format(Date, "mm.dd.yy")

'Dim thiswb As Workbook

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to get data added in one sheet of a workbook to automatically be entered into another sheet. such as a monthly, Quarterly and Annual balance sheet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am getting the error from the title of the thread when I try to change a worksheet name.
This worksheet name doesn't already exist in the workbook and I don't have any other files currently open.
I'm not entirely sure what is causing this, but I do need the sheet to be the name I am trying to change to.
I'm looking for a formula that will paste an entire row from sheet 2 into sheet 1 of the same workbook when only 1 cell is typed.
I am trying to come up with a property access log for my guards so when they enter a tag number from(sheet 2 column B) into (sheet1 column D) , it will auto fill sheet1 column C and E with the entries from sheet 2 column A and C.
I have a userform which clones the latest sheet and produces copy of it on the next sheet. The first sheet they will be cloning is the sheet called 'template', I however want this to be hidden since I do not want anybody to modify a sheet which basically serves purpose of a template. And once cloned, it is no longer needed.
On the click of the command button, the macro will create sheet1 taking the info from sheet named 'Template' in the same workbook . And now on the next click of the command button, Sheet 2 is created taking the info from sheet1 and Sheet 3 is created taking the info from Sheet 2 and so on. Here is what I currently have, so how can i modify it in order for my scnerio to work?
To select the last sheet in the workbook
Code:
Sheets(Sheets.Count).Select
To create new sheet
Code:
Sheets(Sheets.Count).Copy After:=Sheets(Sheets.Count)Sheets(Sheets.Count).Name = MyEvent & " " & MySCN & "(" & ThisWorkbook.Sheets.Count - 2 & ")"
I am wanting to create a macro for excel that when run it it will copy the active worksheet and worksheet named "Timesheet" and copy them to a new Excel workbook named the same as the original file + "JobBrief".
