Able To Associate Data In One Column With Data In Several Others
Oct 15, 2008
I would like to be able to associate data in one column with data in several others....This is not a problem-Cell A59 -"X "&D59
Next I need Cell A60 to reference E59 in a formula -"Y "&E59
From this point on several more cells in the A column will reference different columns all on line 59.
Here's the part that is difficult-Next I need to be able to highlight the whole "group" (all the cells in column A so far) and drag on them to create this "group" over and over again but in each group I need to increment the line references-D60,E60-that is used for the group....Does that make sense? I realize I cant accompish this by using the offset function but there has to be a better way! ...
Is there a macro that will allow me to create text to row from a comma separated cell, but also associate the cell to its left automatically?
The table below exemplifies what I need. The top of the spreadsheet is how my data is currently. The portion after the break is how I would like it to be.
I have two columns of data and what I would like to do is have excel look over one column ( I5-I379) and for each cell that has say 30 in it I want it to return the value from a corresponding column (G5-G379), to form a separate column.......is this possible?
The Room ID values in Column A are associated with the Room values in Column B. I'm trying to move the values in Column A Room ID to Column G Room ID by having excel look up value in Column C Room or Area #, compare it to Room, associate that with Room ID and automatically fill in Column G Room ID. There are 1000s of these so it's not possible to do it by hand.
I attached a picture where i had 2 different workbooks. In reality, I'm working off of 2 worksheets within a workbook.Excel Question.jpg
Id like to apply a formula, any formula to an entire column if it contains data, and incorporate the original data in the calculation and then replace the original data with the result. I don't want to have to create new columns.
I'm using this to fix up database results; a common problem is dates in dot format e.g. 14.11.2008
All I have so far is an autofill formula that overwrites everything. Can someone help me with the rest? I'm using the SUBSTITUTE function to replace the dots '.' with slashes '/'
Sub Create_formula_result()
Dim Limit As Long Dim r As range Set r = range("A1")
I have a excel worksheet with the following columns: First name, Last Name, Email address, domain of email, product type, date registered. The list consists of about 50,000 entries. I want to sort the list by the domain of email(which I am able to do already) Once this is done, I want to find all instances of where a domain appears at least 10 times on the list(such as webmessenger.com appears 40 times, so I want to get that data).
For those instances where the domain appears at least 10 times, I want to pull those rows out of the intial list and put them in a new list(the new list will be sorted by domain and will only have people who have a domain which appears at least 10 times). To make this a bit more clear, The initial list I have is a list of people who registered to use the software my employer makes. We are trying to locate companies which may have many people using our consumer version of the software. When there is a large amount of people in the same organization using our software, it would benefit them to upgrade to the enterprise version due to enhanced managment features. By running this filter, I can see which companies have at least 10 users registered to use our software. Of course I will remove any Gmail/yahoo mail/msn/hotmail... pretty much any public email domains and just leave the ones that are obviously corporate emails.
So far, I think it probably has to be done with a pivot table... I was able to get a table that tells me how many instances occur from each domain, but I cannot get it to display the actual data(it just says IE. company.com 200, yahoo 120, etc... I need it to show me the 200 rows of company.com emails and extract them to a new sheet so that I can then follow up with company.com and see if they are interested in the corporate version.)
IIn my example I have result data from the 2013 USPGA Tour, ordered by player (column A) with subsequent columns detailing their finishing position in each event.
I simply want to condense each player's performance data into one row - as doing it by hand after each event is very time-consuming.
Is there a way of using a simple formula, macro or pivot table (or whatever) to merge each player into one row, but keep each column in the same position (ie to correspond to each weekly event).
I have a time card report which will record the time spent on work for each employee. Each month, i have to generate the time card report and copy the data to my master file. Is there any code that can auto copy the time card entry directly to the master file? I only need some of the entry on the time card report, some of the column can be ignored.
I was thinking of creating a macro that will prompt me to choose the file to import as there are different file for different individual. Attach here with the master list (Demo.xls) & the time card for one individual (Nov-KTTHAM.xls) for reference.
I want to copy the data on column B of the time card to the column A of the master list, column C to column B, column D to column C, column E to column D, column F to column E and column G to column G.
I need to pull info to additional tabs. The problem I am having is that the data is sorted daily based upon performance numbers, so the REP names in column A can change based upon the data reported in column C.
What I want to accomplish:
Pull daily data for each unique name in column A to a team tab/worksheet that will be used to report that team's daily data.
Below is a representation of the data I need to break down by Rep Name and Team.
Rep DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 REP 2 27.5% 14
I have 1000's of columns of data to go through, I just need to visually inspect the data and then delete any column containing irregular data. At the moment; I select a section of the first column of data and insert a column chart for that data. I then need to change the source of the chart data to that of the next column, to do this I click on the data within the chart and it will show the data on the worksheet that I have selected by surrounding it in a blue box, I then click on this box and drag it to the next column of data. Clicking on the blue box (which sometimes I miss, and I then have to go back to the chart to activate it again) and dragging it to the next column is getting annoying, especially as I have sooooo much data to go through. Does anyone know if there is a shortcut key for this, or how I could write a macro to do this?
I have a spreadsheet that has "Branch" Information starting below the heading in Cell C6.
I want to associate the information in the subsequent cells to a corresponding Sector that will be populated in column B6 onwards.
Example:
If the cell Cx has IMTB in it, then cell Bx will be Ops.
There are 6 Main Sectors - (CS, CSM, DM, CBSA, OPS, SPP) that need to be populated into Column B based upon one of the multiple possible Branches that are in Column C. the branch will fall under any ONE of the Sectors.
Essentially, I need to run a loop through, while statement, or something that will generate a true or a false for the entire column and then populate the empty column.
Here's a sample of the document I have, the original has several thousand entries, so figured for the sample I'd limit it. The raw data is on sheet 1, and sheet 2 is what I want to have to more easily manipulate the data. I started doing it manually, but I'm sure there's a far better method that I just don't know about yet. sample.xlsx
For those that don't want to download the document:
I have a name in one column and the data in another. I am trying to match the name and the category and turn the column data into a row data. I have attached a sample of two sets of data since my explanation here may be lacking. Orriginal data is in columns A and B. Basically I think I need a double text lookup (matching the name and category) and put the data in a row format.
My data is in colunm set #1. I want to create from the data set in column set 1 the data set shown in colunm set #2. I want to automate the process. The program needs to regognize if a name appears only once or more than once. If it appears more than once the data needs to be merged as I highlighted from yellow to green.
I have a Pivot Table, with lots of data in, what I want to be able to do is on a separate sheet pull out the data from the first column(A), and then average out the figures from Columns(B-E).
When this has been done on the sheet (with the average data) in the next column, I then want to use Column(F) (from Pivot Table), and do a simple sum to work out 5% of the difference if it is greater than ZERO between Average Column and Column(F) (from pivot Table) Column(F) must be higher than the average in order to work out the 5%.
I have this nice formula (listed below) that I'm trying to use to get the employee names that belong to each manager. How ever using the first formula I only get the first name in each cell and using the second formula (associates is a define name for the range A1:A70) gives me name that do not belong the that manager....
I would like this formula to only pull names from the manager that is listed in the C column....
I need to convert a column of data which will have repeated values into a column that turns that data into data with all unique values. Below is an example.
I had a solution until I wanted to turn this range into a list. The solution was.
=If(ISBLANK(A2),"",A2&"_"& COUNTIF($A$2:A2,A2))
When this data is in the list the <A2> in the range stops incrimenting from row to row and simply turns into the last row of the list. I have an example spread sheet upon request.
I want to import data with a web-querie. The data consists of numbers in a column (14 cells).
I want to poll the info in the table in the webquerie every 15 minutes to see if the info in the table is changed. Therefore I refresh the info every 15 minutes, and when the info is changed, than the data must be put in a new sheet in a column and the columntitle must be the date and time that the info is put into the column. Can this be done in vba? I suppose that to compare the info of the new poll with the info of the previous polling the previous info must be put in a "compare" table.
QC'ers can enter up to 3 different error types committed on a single failed policy, thus the reason for 3 error fields, even though all 3 fields offer the same value list selections (ie ErrorTypeA, ErrorTypeB, ErrorTypeC......). A policy, whether it has one error or three errors assigned, should only count as a single fail against the associate.
My problem comes into play when attempting to pivot the data. I would ideally like to see the pivot table in this format:
(filter)Associate (filter)QC Date ... ErrorTypeA.......Count ErrorTypeB.......Count ErrorTypeC.......Count ErrorTypeD.......Count
Where the "count" is the total number of occurances of that error type across all three error fields - 1stError, 2ndError, 3rdError.
But since 1st/2nd/3rd error fields are different columns, I am unable to do a single count.
My pivot ends up looking something like this:
1stError.....ErrorTypeA.......Count 1stError.....ErrorTypeB.......Count 1stError.....ErrorTypeC.......Count 1stError.....ErrorTypeD.......Count Then repeated for the 2ndError and 3rdError fields.
I have a workbook with 4 drop down lists. The selection in list 1 determines what is shown in list 2. I wish to have list 3 dependant on list 1 also, but don't know how to associate 2 drop down lists with the same previous cell.
The first list is in cell C2 and the table of data needed for list 3 is AC8:AC27-AO8:AO27,including the column titles.
Table 1 has Column A, with 500 unique names/codes listed. Table 2 has Column A with the 500 names, plus 500 more mixed in (all unique). Table 2 also has columns B-G, with values corresponding to each of names in Column A.
Basically, what I'd like to do is filter out from Table 2 the 500 names (and their corresponding info in columns B-G) not listed in Table 1.
I've tried to look around, but most answers seem to be in reference to situations in which Column A has numerical values rather names.
I have exported a text file from a universe database and need to import it into excel.
Below is an eg of one section. The text file contains approx 257 of these, all one below the other.
Between each set of dotted lines is one user profile (not data all shown in eg) .
Each one (user) is NOT the same amount of lines(rows) deep and only the dotted lines separate each user.
A simple import places all data into one very long column.
I need a way to place each user in there own column.
I have user names as column headings the labels of the values below as row headings. I cannot change this.
Manually entering the data took a very long time and i need to update this workbook regularly.
In the text file, " the variable......: value " (eg UserCode.....: XYZ) sets are all lined up so that using a text editor, with column mode, I can delete all the data headings/labels up to the space after the colon. This leaves me with 7000 rows of values (eg XYZ) one column wide and various numbers of rows deep per user.
Is there a way to import the data and seperate each user via the dotted lines or other so that each users data is contained in consecutive columns. 1 user profile per column.
The standard import utility allows for column placement (delimted, fixed width). Can this be done on rows, sort of flip it 90 degrees and use the dotted lines as column markers. Just guessing now. Any and all assistance would be most appreciated.
Another issue (not as important but still helpful) is that the "procudures barred" section of user profile can also be one row(line) or serveral. Problem is each Name...:Value set must be on one row(line) for everything to match in the work book.
Using custom macros in my text editor i moved all the 'proc. barred' data to a single row. Alot of manual editting was involved and any ideas on this area would also be muchly appreciated.
One EG user profile (not shown, but all the colons line up) ....
