Add New Rows Automatically?
Nov 29, 2005I need to know how toformat my spreadsheet so it will automatically give me a new row when I reach the end of the column instead of having to hit insert row to add one.

View 2 RepliesThe number of rows you are pasting and then you can select that same number of existing rows and use "insert". This is what I'm trying to achieve:
(before paste)
A
B
C
(after pasting unknown number of rows)
1
2
...
n
A
B
C
Is there really no built-in way to do this?
I have two separate tables, one above the other, and need a way for it to automatically shift the second table down or a row between the two tables any time another row is added to the top table. Is there any way to do that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet where I will input details for "incidents" under different headings on one row per entry (I will have a separate tab for each "incident", and each row will relate to each customer affected by this incident)
For every row that is completed I have a "Summary", which is just a section of the same worksheet, that will list all the basic details of the above entries in a format that will be printed and passed to a different department.
As I will be unable to determine whether a particular incident will have 5 entries or 50, I need a way to add a new row to my "Summary" section if and when a row is completed.
I have a formula to populate the data in the "Summary" section automatically, so all I need now is for it to add new rows as and when they are needed, copying the formulas from the original row, so each new "incident" entry is copied each time.
I have created a dummy spreadsheet but I'm not sure how to attach it to this post.
in worksheet "sheet1" I have my inputs... in "sheet2" I have my outputs... my inputs could be anything from 1 to 1000 therefore my outputs would be 1000... on the output sheet, below the last line, i have a whole bunch of text and calcs that I will always need at the bottom... what i would like to happen is if I put in "sheet1" b2 a number, say 5, then "sheet 2" would hide rows 10 to 1005 or if i put in "sheet2" b2 say 925, it hides 930 to 1005...
I created a macro, but it doesn't work at all... and i want it to work automatically without me pushing run macro...
What I need VBA to do is scan the data in a certain column (in this case column I entitled "Type") and if it picks up a certain letter (either a "C" "D" or "K") in a range starting from row 2 then Delete the whole row and condense them so I am only left with the data that corresponds to letters "E" and "R"...
Does there exist a macro that can accomplish this for me; the alternative doesn't even bare thinking about as the range can be anything up to row 6k
I have tried looking on the Net and have seen example of similiar macros, alas I'm completely new to this and cannot adapt it to my needs.
I have a spreadsheet where I would like to automatically delete rows with nothing in them. Here is a typed up example:
BEFORE
Column A
row 1 99999
row 2
row 3 99999
row 4
row 5 99999
AFTER
Column A
row 1 99999
row 2 99999
row 3 99999
row 4
row 5
The spreadsheets I am dealing with have 100's of rows so it is difficult to search through the spreadsheet and delete the rows with nothing in them.
I am working on a very long worksheet and creating a macro to automatically highlight the row that I am working on
Ex: If I am on row 2 I can use a shortcut to highlight it in blue when I am done working on it I can use another short cut to remove the highlight
Or if I am working on row 5 and 6 I can highlight 2rows or more but still able to remove the color after.
I am wondering if I can have different shortcuts for color blue, green and yellow and another shortcut for removing it.
Im not strong in excel, that why Im here. So:
I work every day with big amount of item numbers and lists in excel and I need some macro or code to automatically remove rows, containing unwanted text.
Example:
MEMORY DIMM 512MB PC3200 DDR
MEMORY DIMM 512MB PC6400 DDRII
MEMORY DRIVE FLASH USB2 2GB
MEMORY MINI SD 2GB W/ADAPTER
MEMORY SECURE DIGITAL 2GB
MEMORY DIMM 1GB PC6400 DDRII
MEMORY DRIVE FLASH USB2 1GB
MEMORY DRIVE FLASH USB2 1GB
So I paste the text from my database, and want to automatically delete rows containing DIMM string. How can I do it?
p.s. is there also a way to leave only the rows I want?
I've got a workbook (attached) with a "summary" sheet & 2 detail sheets for tracking vacation time used, and I need to make it automatically clear out an employee's "used" vacation hours automatically on their anniversary date.
Can anybody help me please? I've had no luck thus far & "the powers that be" are really getting on me for this now -
I'm trying to create one spreadsheet where I use formulas to come up with an "end total" on a daily basis. I want these "end total" values to be automatically recorded each day on a separate spreadsheet that keeps a historical log.
In example:
On Day 1 I will enter numbers into "Spreadsheet A" to come up with an "end total" for that day. This number will automatically be entered into "Spreadsheet B" on the first row.
On Day 2 I will write over the numbers from the previous day in "Spreadsheet A" to come up with a new "end total". This new "end total" will be automatically entered into "Spreadsheet B" on the second row.
Can we use the inbuilt thesaurus that MS excel has through macro.
i.e. if I select a word and play the macro, excel will automatically populate the below rows with the synonyms.
I have a running worksheet to account for expenses and deposits. At the
bottom of the sheet are the total values. I have to keep "inserting" rows to
move the values further down the sheet.
I have a data set of 300 points and i want to increase my data range by a factor of 10 .
For example if i have Column A with master points A1=10 A2 = 20 A3 = 30 .
I would like to be able to automatically enter in the same about of new rows between each point . Then calculate there difference between the master points and populate the new rows in sequence . For example The difference between A1 and A2 = 10. So the new A2 would be 11
I would like to have A1=10 A2=11 A3= 12 A3=14 Etc as the new cells.
Let's say I have a document with 10 different sections in it. I download it from another piece of software so there is a header/etc on each page. Each page has the name of a company on it in the A column and the name of a section on it in the cell directly below the company name. (Lets call the sections candy, toys, medicine, etc.) I want to separate the information by creating a new sheet for every section and name it toys_sheet, candy_sheet, medicine_sheet automatically. How could I do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can trying to let the user type a word in to cell A1 and then have Excel remove the rows that contain the word. But VBA below just seem to delete all nonblank rows?

I am working on a spreadhseet with multiple tables present on the sheet. Each table has various formatting, merged cells, formulas, and defined lists. I need to have the table add a new row below the last including cell formatting, formulas, defined lists, so I can just keep going through and do data entry. The code adds a row at the end so I don't run into the table below the present one, by monitoring how far away it is from the "Type" cell tag in column A. The code below is a compilation from viewing other threads, but it just does a copy and paste, including the data that was input so I'm looking at a duplicate row. How can I get ito to clear values in the new row? I can't seem to get it to paste xlPasteFormat and xlPasteFormulas
Is the new row in fact being added below the last? I think it's up one after the macro had run through.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
r = Target.Row
c = Target.Column
If c <> 1 Then Exit Sub
Application.EnableEvents = False
NextLineValue = Cells(r + 3, c)
If NextLineValue = "Type" Then
ActiveCell.EntireRow.Insert
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).EntireRow.Copy
ActiveCell.Offset(0, 0).EntireRow.PasteSpecial xlPasteAll
Application.CutCopyMode = False
End If
Application.EnableEvents = True
End Sub
I have a spreadsheet that contains large amounts of data. I've looked through the forums and tried to adapt other VB code to work for me all to no avail.
I would like a macro to automatically cut a row from sheet1 and paste it on to a new line in sheet2 when data is input into column 'X'. (The data input in to column X is a date the specific case is resolved)
I need to add over 100 rows on the top of my check register worksheet, is there any way to do automatically?

I have two linked workbooks, one containing a large data table, and the other containing individual worksheets that extract the data from the large table via HLOOKUP equations in each cell.
Is there a way to have Excel hide the row of a worksheet if the resulting HLOOKUP result in the cell in that row is empty? Also, if there is data in the cell, can I get Excel to automatically adjust the row height based in the incoming data and not on the HLOOKUP equation?
I have a pivot table (vendor spend report) which has over 7000 rows of data. There are 38 vendors (some vendors appear multiple times i.e. Accenture Itay, Accenture Germany, etc.). Vendors names are in column B.
I need to have the VBA script search for each of the vendors (and related names) and group them together. Also, last one is for all the MISC. vendors which need to be group together (one's that dont belong to the 38 managed vendors).
Also, I need to rename the Group for each one; rather than Group1, I need to name it "Accenture All" etc...
I am trying to implement the following:
After the user selects something using the validation list in cell F38, the macro should check in column Q in the rows 44 till 425 for "hide". For each row in which it finds "hide" the entire row should be hidden.
I have the code below but it does't work yet. It calculates for ages and afterwards only the first 2 rows of the 381 are hidden (probably because the third row is not "hide").
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim MyRange As Range
Dim ThisCell As Range
Target = Range("F38")
[code].....
Does Excel have the ability to automatically hide rows without values in certain cells?
For example:
Sheet1
ABC1Route NumberTechnicianNumber of Units Cleaned25Tony237Don749 511Ray12613James16715Chuck21817
In this example, Rows 4 and 8 would automatically be hidden, leaving the other rows displaying. Of course, somehow I'd have to "Unhide" these rows at some point to add data if needed.
This is for a spreadsheet that is about 500 rows. Conceptually, I would automatically hide the rows w/o data in column B, analyze (or print) the worksheet, then "Unhide" the columns to enter data the next day.
I have a set of 3,000 data points. The data is in one second intervals, however I am interested in seeing what the data looks like in a graph if I only had a point every minute. I have the following set up.
A B C
TIME X Y
What I want to do is to leave the first cell unhidden, and then hide the next 59. And then repeat this so I narrow the data down to one second each. I'm looking to do this multiple times, so I can create a graph each time in order to get an idea of what the data would look like if I only had a point for every minute.
Is there a macro that I could write, that would hide every cell except every 60th one? I was thinking that I could hide it based on the time. What would the code look like if my time was in 00:00:00 format? It's increasing, so I need it to hide cells that aren't equal to XX:XX:01, for example.
I have several rows worth of tasks with several columns associated with each one of them. In other words, each task will have some event, comment, date etc. and a flag at the end if it's complete or not. Below is a very simplified idea.
A
B
C
D
1
Event
Date
Done
2
Party
12/10/2013
Yes
3
Marathon
12/20/2013
Yes
4
Graduation
01/15/2013
No
Formulas that I have used so far have accomplished everything I need except one thing. I would like to copy rows to a different sheet (tab) based on the flag condition i.e. if the string says "Yes" (in this example), I would like to copy that row to a different sheet and do that for each row. In the example above, rows 2 and 3 would be copied to a different sheet creating a list/summary of complete events. As that is copied, I would use that information again on that new sheet to do more things.
I'm using a workbook that has one sheet that pulls data from all the others, displaying a series of rows that summarizes data from each worksheet, each of which is full of data. Its a worksheet that a lot of people use so its kind of tedious to use as of now, because whenever you add a new worksheet of data you have to manually create a row and then manually change all the worksheet references. Is there a way to make rows automatically add and update when a new worksheet is added? I know it would probably have involve some sort of Macro or VBA.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some code that works almost perfectly. I am trying to automatically delete rows in which no data exists in cells in a certain column.
the problem that I am having is that is seems to go into an infinite loop.
For example, if I delete row 5 and then iterate to the next row, row 5 becomes what used to be row 6 and now my code is on row 6...essentially skipping a row.
Here is an example data set (note that the set is for 20 rows):
1
3
6
15

here is the
Sub Macro2()
r = 20
Min = 1
Do While r >= Min
If Cells(r, 1) = "" Then
Cells(r, 1).EntireRow.Delete
Else
r = r - 1
End If
Loop
End Sub
