View 3 RepliesI need a macro to add a work sheet template to an existing work book, I can add a blank work sheet no prob but it needs to be a template
View 3 RepliesI have created a template with a Worksheet called "Certificate".
There is a userform that is opened on Auto_Open of this template and
allows a file name and some other parameters to be input.
On pressing the OK button on this form, I want to do the following.
1. Create a new XLS workbook with the file name entered on the form
(this includes the full Windows folder address).
2. Copy the Certificate workbook from the template across to this new
file.
3. Close the original template (maybe closing needs to be done at the
end??) and make the "Certifcate" worksheet in the new workbook the
active worksheet.
4. Using the parameters entered on the userform, change the details in
"Certificate" (this code is already written but not set up for the new
workbook - currently it updates the template "Certificate" worksheet)
5. Save the new excel workbook with the changes.
How do I insert an existing worksheet (previously exported from the same workbook)? I need to be able to do it programmatically.
this is the macro code I am using to copy the currently selected worksheet to an existing workbook:
Sub test2()
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:Documents and SettingsManagerDesktop PS444Log.xls"
Windows("PS444.xls").Activate
Sheets("sales").Select
Sheets("sales").Copy Before:=Workbooks("PS444Log.xls").Sheets(1)
End Sub
The source workbook is named PS444
The receiving workbook is named PS444Log
The sheet to be copied and moved is named sales
The source workbook is already open and the code is executed by clicking a button on the worksheet.
If I perform the steps manually the worksheet in the source workbook gets copied correctly into the receiving workbook.
The problem lies when I try to execute the code, the source worksheet doesn't get copied to the receiving workbook.
The receiving workbook gets opened but the worksheet does not get transfered.
Neither of the workbooks are protected nor are either of the worksheets protected in the workbooks.
Can someone tell me why the code is not copying the sheet to the receiving workbook.
I developed the code using the macro recorder so I don't understand why it doesn't work.
I have a user who is trying to use <EDIT><MOVE OR COPY SHEET> to copy a sheet to an existing workbook. She has them in the same directory and has them both open, but when she tries to copy a sheet from either of them to the other, the only workbook listed in the "TO BOOK" drop down menu is the one she is in. NO other workbooks show up as an option for her to copy to.

I have a few issues i am unable to resolve.
There are 2 of the worksheets (Short Quote and Stores Req) which individually need to have a button on them so i can create a new workbook as an exact coy of that sheet. but with just the values and not the formulas.
Also i am unsure on the macro on the workbook currently( as i dont know how to do macros) i dont know what it does?
how do i go about creating a macro to copy a range in sheet 1 in workbook A and paste that to a new tab(the last one) in the existing workbook B. i would like the tab to be renamed based on a cell value. preferably workbook B doesnt have to be open, and the save and close it
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have what is probably a simple request to all the VBA experts out there, and simply want to take a template sheet in a workbook and copy it across to 100 sheets numbered/named 101 -200, and add the name of each sheet as a text reference, e.g. sheet name 101 will have a cell within the worksheet that refers to sheet 101.
I have attached a simplified spreadsheet which indicates what i'm trying to achieve.
I have a Workbook, that I would like to copy over to an existing PowerPoint template.
The order that the sheets are currently in, is the same order I would like the presentation to be.
Can this be done all at once with command button?
see attachment for examples of the Workbook and PowerPoint template
(Code at the bottom of this message)
I have a file with a roughly 20 workbooks. I need to split the data in each workbook into two sheets, rename each sheet, then export the data to template with multiple sheets. After splitting the data into the appropriate sheets in the original workbook, Sheet1 in has only 1 row (plus header) and needs to be transferred to "Project Entry" in the template; Sheet2 can have any number of rows (less than 100) and needs to be transferred to "Activity Entry" in the template. I need to save the template based on the value of cell A1 on "Project Entry" sheet of the template. The organization of the columns in the original workbooks is different than that of the template, so this is not a straight copy and paste operation. The cell formatting in the template must be retained.
I have half of this under wraps. I've cobbled together some code that splits the original data where I need it split, copies it to new sheets and saves the files. I now need to figure out out to get it out of this saved file and into the template.
The crosswalk of values between the original data (Sheet1) and the template(Project Entry) needs to look like the below. So, variable 1 exists in column B of the original and needs to populate column B of the template, and column Q in the original needs to populate column G in the template. The variables and column relationships are different for Sheet2/Activity Entry.
SPREADSHEET COLUMN
Variable
Original
Template

So I basically have a template workbook that the code is stored in. I need it to pull an entire row if Column C in workbook "rawdata" contains specific text, in this case "PRCH - Purchase".I have never had to do anything like this before, it has always been working in the same workbook. It's failing at the 'mp = ...' line every time. There might be other errors in the code too, I just cannot resolve the first one!
[Code] .....
Copy data from workbook, open existing workbook, select range and paste. But my copied data is lost.
Sub Select_Copy_Paste()
'
'
Windows("ElektroFunctiesDatabase.xlsm").Activate
Sheets("PowerSupply's").Select
Range("A2:I6").Select
Selection.Copy
[Code] .........
' Here i need to do something to paste data into r.address?
Here's my macro:
Code:
Sub CopyRow()'
'Copies row to new sheet, highlights it, marks column 'A' as copied.
'
Dim cCell As Range
Set cCell = Selection.Cells(1, 1)
Selection.Copy
Sheets("Sheet2").Select
Rows("2:2").Select
[Code] .....
Is it possible to modify it to paste into a different workbook called c:filesDestination.xlsm, instead of the existing workbook (Source.xlsm)? The destination sheet name is the same (Sheet2). It's OK if both workbooks are open at the same time.
The new worksheet is created to the left of the existing source worksheet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe amazing code I saw was from this thread Auto lock cells after data entry when file saved... where the code was made by Jafaar Tribak.
It basically locks cells that have had data inputted into them when the file is saved (with a nice prompt warning of the used cells being locked.
This is Jafaar's file [URL]
And this is my file where I'm trying to make it work in the "Employee data entry" Sheet:
[URL]
And finally this is the file after I tried to copy the code over : [URL]
Trying to make it so that in the employee data entry sheet locks cells after an employee inputs some data into said cells.
I thought that by setting an "inputrange" on the employee data entry sheet the code would track it down automatically but maybe I'm completely wrong. I cant see anything wrong with it (probably because I"m not that good at vba) but I fear I may have left out something really simple!
I seem to disable my other macros when i try to insert this code in (I have a macro that when you click on a cell a calendar pops up so you can click on a day from the calendar rather than typing out the date)
i came up with this..
Sub Copy_To_New_Workbook()
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Dim strFileName As String
strFileName = Application. GetOpenFilename(filefilter:="Excel Files (*.xls), *.xls", Title:="Please select the excel file to be copied")
I have a very brief question
dlgAnswer = Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show
Selection.Copy
Windows("Derivative YK pricing Mod G.xls").Activate
Columns("B:B").Select
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValuesAndNumberFormats, Operation:= _
xlNone, SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=False
Range("C5").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Windows("EXPORT1.xls").Activate
ActiveWindow.Close
As you can see, I open a workbook with the dlgAnswer, I was wondering how I could close that opened workbook
Currently I have
Windows("EXPORT1.xls").Activate
ActiveWindow.Close
however the workbook will not always be called export1.xls, I want it to close whichever one I opened earlier.
One of my work colleagues need to add a worksheet to an existing Excel Spreadsheet which has VBA behind it, but the worksheet is password protected. The developer who wrote the application has now left, so we have no idea what the password is. Is there anyway of getting round it, like cracking into the spreadsheet to find out the password, or another way?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an excel template spreadsheet which auto loads the following when i open it:
Userform1.Show
Usreform2.Show
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogSaveAs).Show
I enter data into the userforms and save as a normal .xls file.
If i then open the .xls the auto open kicks in and opens the userforms and xlDialogSaveAs again.
How do i just get rid of all macros or vba code when i save as a .xls file so nothing auto loads.
I am using Excel 2007. I have a template BOOK.xlt in the XLSTART folder which opens a customized workbook each time I start Excel. This part works fine. If I want to open a NEW workbook, with Excel already open, by clicking the OFFICE BUTTON, NEW, BLANK WORKBOOK, I do, in fact get a blank workbook, but without any customization. Is there a way to open a NEW workbook with customization using OFFICE BUTTON, NEW, BLANK WORKBOOK set of keystrokes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a spreadsheet that I wish to save as a template. However, when the a new workbook is created from the template it needs to be saved as a Macro Enabled workbook not just a workbook which is the default. To achieve this I added the line 'thisworkbook.FileFormat=xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled' to the 'beforesave' macro for the workbook. This works fine except that it makes saving the file as a template quite difficult.
How I can trap the first time a workbook created from a template using New is saved would be most useful.
I'm trying to create a macro that creates new worksheets with buttons on them that have macros attached. I've been able to produce one worksheet with a button and macro, but when the function that copies the code is looped it crashes out of Excel.
I realise that the usual method of doing this would be by templates, but this code will be run on other people's computers so the template wouldn’t exist in the location that i had specified (I think with my limited experience with VBA - Please correct me if I'm wrong). I've also tried to copy the page with the button on, but this takes too long (even with screenupdating = false) as there are many sheets to be created.
This is a stripped down version of the code that I have created for the purpose of this forum. To recap, the function that creates a new page, with button, with macro attached works. It's when it's looped that it crashes out. I've stepped through the program, and it reaches the second message box, then it gives up on life ..........
I'm unsure how to adapt the code to suit my needs.
I have an Excel workbook that is created a few times a month from a template. When I update it I run a macro that saves a values only copy with the current date. I'd like to copy non-blank rows (from row 8 down) into the first empty row in a master workbook that is saved on a network drive. The path to the master workbook is "B:8MPBGTrade Pre-AdviceBG Trade Confirm Master.xls"
If you have a workbook or a template open you can find out the full path of the file from the .FullPath property. My problem is that when a user double-clicks my .xlt file (to create a new workbook based on it), I want the code in the Workbook_Open event to be able to tell the full path of the template it was created from (because the code will later go on to save the new workbook under a date related filename in the same directory that the template was located in). I haven't been able to find a property that gives me any clue as to the location of the template this new workbook is based on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a template which when filled out will automatically transfer multiple cell information to an excel database, and everytime the template is filled out - transfer the new information to a new row (sequentially) - I do not want the info to remain on the core template - it needs to be blank after every use.
I tried the template wizard - which worked to a degree but I was unable to move the database file to an alternate location and still have it work - I was also unable to alter the code created by the wizard due to password protection.
to sum up I need a template that updates numerous cells on a database in sequential rows that can be transfered to another computer / location.
I have created a template with a form. Now I'm using (the code is in ThisWorkbook)
Sub Workbook_Open()
frmMyForm.show
End Sub
This runs the form also when opening the template or a saved workbook based on the template. I want the form to run only when creating a new workbook based on the template. How do I do?
I tried to open an existing Excel workbook, it tells me that it is already open. There is nothing on the screen. I closed Excel (using 2003 version) and restarted computer also. I tried to open the file again - nothing shows up on the screen. When I attempt to open the file again I get a message that says "(file name).xls is already open.
Reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded. Do you want to reopen (file name).xls?". Even if I reopen the file, it still does not show up on the screen.
I'm trying to find a simple Excel template to add my sales invoices together for a year...just so I know what I've earnt...nothing complicated.
The Columns I need are;
date - invoice no. - customer - labour - materials - total
I'd like it to add together labour and materials to the total box ( or just labour in the total box if no materials for that job.)
Then each invoice adding up as I add more with subtotal of labour and materials then a grand total.
