Auto SUM Formula?

Jan 19, 2009

this will not be easy since I do not know any English terms for Excel operations (only Swedish ones...). But I'll give it a try:

I have a column A, and a column B. I want the numbers in B always to be
=(cell above)+(cell to the left).

Example:
B1=1, A2=1 --> B2=2
B2=2, A3=7 --> B3=9
B3=9, A3=5 --> B4=14
and so on.

Column A is a column for my expenses, column B is my cashbox, you see...
I could do this with a simple "sum"-formula in every B-cell, but I hope there's a solution to tell the spreadsheet that any B cell=(cell above)+(cell to the left).

Auto Add Spreadsheet To Formula?

Jan 5, 2012

Currently I am wondering if this is possible. I have a formula like,

=Total!O8+'Less-1.7'!O8+'Overall'!O8

In total, I have three spreadsheets by the name of that. Then I added a new spreadsheet called DummyTest. I wonder if I can make it so that this DummyTest spreadsheet will automatically go into the formula,

=Total!O8+'Less-1.7'!O8+'Overall'!O8+DummyTest!O8

My intention is to use the INDIRECT formula to put the spreadsheet name in a cell (refer to this topic that I posted earlier today - [URL]. The only problem is to get the formula to automatically add a new spreadsheet into it.

Note: The cell reference O8 is standard for all spreadsheets.

How To Auto Populate A Formula

Auto Fill Formula Using $

Jan 24, 2008

I created a database and made one small mistake doing it. The database is infinite amount of rows down and my formula needs to be corrected as such. In the current cells: (C1:C1000) i have the formulas referencing cells $B1, but i need it to reference $B$1. In C2 I need it to reference $B$2, C3 $B$3 and so on. If I autofill, it obviously just keeps the following cells at $B$1 and i can't keep the dollar bill sign.

Excel Auto Fill Formula?

Jun 14, 2013

I have an excel spreadsheet like the one attached. My problem is column A has a ton of blank cells. Wht I'm trying to do in Column A is write a formula that fills in the blank cells with the number of the last previous filled in cell. For example the first number is .25 I want to fill in the blank spaces below it with .25 all the way until it reaches a different number which in this case is .219.

Once it reaches .219 I want it then to fill in the blank spaces below it with .219 until it reaches a different number. So basically I'm looking for a formula to fill this in on its own instead of having to drag the cells over and over again manually.

In the excel spreadsheet attached I have in Column D the end result I wish to accomplish.

What IF Auto Fill Date Formula

Nov 1, 2007

I would like to auto fill the present date if another cell of the same row is typed in and then lock that cell with the date.

For example. If someone types in cell A2 then I would like to auto fill D2 with the date 11/01/2007 and lock it.

If someone tomorrow types in cell A3 then the date would once again be autofilled in D3 to 11/02/2007 while D2 would still display 11/01/2007.

Auto Fill Multiple Worksheets In Formula Bar?

Jul 4, 2012

I have a workbook that has a "summary sheet" and then forty some sheets thereafter. Each row on the summary sheet represents a sheet in the workbook. For instance, i.e. on the worksheet tabs below it is displayed left to right as follows: "summary page"(sheet1), "aaa"(sheet2), "bbb"(sheet3), "ccc"(sheet4) etc. On the summary page, row one identifies the aggregate of sheets in a horizontal fashion, i.e. cell A1: "aaa"; cell A2: "bbb" and cell A3: "ccc" etc. I am pulling data for various parameters as columns on the summary page relative to each row (representing each sheet) via "SUMPRODUCT" and "COUNTIF" formulas. The formulas are a constant as each sheet's rows and columns are identical, the only variable in a given formula is the sheet name.

For example: =COUNTIF('aaa'!$C$4:$C$16,"Online")

This works fine if I drag and auto fill the column on the summary sheet, except for the fact that I have to manually type in: 'bbb' in the formula for the next row down in said respective column (COUNTIF('bbb'!$C$4:$C$16,"Online") and 'ccc' (COUNTIF('ccc'!$C$4:$C$16,"Online")and so forth forty some times thereafter.

Given that I am encountering this issue over multiple columns, I am easily going to have to manually alter some 300-400 cells at this rate should I not find a solution. I know there must be an easier way, I have tried creating a 'Custom Autofill List' but this does not translate to the formula bar and thusly will not fill the series. Additionally, I have tried to create a Macro but my lack of knowledge in VB and overall in this area of Excel has proved to be a difficult task..

Excel Array Formula With Auto End Point?

Jul 12, 2012

I have a sheet with the following formula:

Code:
Column A Data:
007-006
007-006P
008-008
008-008P
Column F Data:
43,000
434,000
1,947,299
0
{=SUM(IF(RIGHT(TRIM(A4:A23),1)="P",0,F4:F23))}

When a row is inserted above row 24, the formula does not automatically include this row.

When this cell formula is modified manually, I get an error, unless I save the formula by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.

How can I make it so that when a user inserts a line above this formula, to add more data, I can make sure that the formula automatically includes this row so the user will not get an error when trying to manually include this row. Users who will use this will know know this is a Array Formula.

Formula To Create Custom Auto-Number

Sep 22, 2013

I am creating a custom autonumber in excel. The autonumber will be based on the value of another cell's value. So for eg, in cell A1 will look at B1, if B1 has the number 1, A1 will take B1 and add the autonumber to it, eg a, b, c.

If within, b5 the number is 2. So if the number in the corresponding row in b changes, the autonumber must restart.

I've decided to go with a-z for the autonumber as i realized for .1, .2, .3 is limited to 9 values in the list bec. 1.10 may be read as 1.1

I've tried a few options such as creating a named range, however the problem is getting the autonumber to restart.

Below is what i want to achieve via excel formula:

Column F

1.a

Is there a method with VBA (or other) to automatically insert a row with formulas & formatting above Monday date after workbook save.

I have data validations, conditional formatting & lot of formulas there. I have other date column also on workbook but I want it happens only with column with H. Also what if I have to change column H in future.

Auto-Fill Formula When Adjacent Cell Changes

Jan 6, 2007

what is prompting this formula to auto fill down when a value in an adjacent cell is entered.

In column A I enter an unformatted fax number.
In column B I use the following Text Formula:
"="("&LEFT(A20,3)&")"&MID(A20,4,3)&"-"&RIGHT(A20,4)

Someone in my office copied the workbook and now any time a value is
entered into the next available Column A cell. The cell in column B will automatically apply the above formula and format the fax number. The person who copied the workbook does not know how this is working nor does anyone else in the office.

There are no macros embedded in this workbook so no event is firing to cause this.

I have attached a small copy of the workbook called "Auto format1.xls"

How to use:
-Select cell B20 and not nothing is in it.
-Enter any 9 digits in A20 and B20 somehow
copies down the formula from B19.

how to duplicate this.

Add Formula & Auto Fill Via Macro Code

Mar 13, 2008

I want a Macro to be able to copy a formula down from cell A2 down the entire column within the data range. But, the problem I've got is that the spreadsheets I'll be using the Macro on will be different sizes. Currently, the VBA looks like this:

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "= LOWER(RC[3])"
Range("A2").Select
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("A2:A17340"), Type:=xlFillDefault
Range("A2").Select

So the "Destination:=Range("A2:A17340")" part copies the formula into all cells from A2 to A17340. Other spreadsheets might only have data up to cell A200, or Awhatever - is there a way of getting the macro to populate just the cells in column A but only where there is data adjacent in other columns?

Also, I want the Macro to be able to delete all rows wherever "DELETE" appears in a certain column - I had a look at the "Delete Entire Row Based on Criteria" Macro but I'm looking for a fully automated solution, rather than the question boxes coming up and asking which cell/criteria, I need to run this macro on multiple sheets and the criteria/column position will always be the same -

Auto-Populate Formula For Rolling Range Of Cells?

Jul 25, 2014

I have a column of values (E4:E87). I'm adding 1 value to this column manually each day...so tomorrow (July 24th) I will have E4:E88...and so forth. Each day is a new row.

In column Z (i.e. cell Z87) I have the formula =(SUM(O53:O87))/(SUM(E53:E87)). Z88 will have
=(SUM(somevalue:O88))/(SUM(somevalue:E88)). This gives me a resulting percentage for a rolling period of time.

I need an automated way to populate "O53" and "E53" ("somevalue") in the formula so that the SUM of the current row's cell (i.e. E88) through [whatever] is 50 or greater. (The sum of the values should be as small as possible, but at least 50, and should not include any older values than absolutely necessary for it to equal at least 50.)

Auto-replace Typed Contents In A Cell With A Formula

Apr 9, 2008

I want to set up a sheet macro that will replace the contents of a cell (when a specific number is typed in) with a specific formula.

For instance, when "43" is typed into any cell within specified columns (say columns C and H), it changes to the following formula: =IF(D47="",43,IF(D47<=3030,408,43))(WHERE D47 WOULD REPRESENT THE CELL ADJACENT TO THE CELL WHERE "43" WAS TYPED.)

IE:

If "43" was typed into cell C1, then it would change to the formula: =IF(D1="",43,IF(D1<=3030,408,43))

If "43" was typed into cell C50, then it would change to the formula: =IF(D50="",43,IF(D50<=3030,408,43))

Auto Hide Column Based On Formula Result

I have an Excel workbook with multiple sheets. In one sheet, there are many columns that automatically get hidden based on cells values (=1) in another sheet as I type. I use this

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

Sheets("Stakes").Range("E:E").EntireColumn.Hidden = True
Else
If Target.Address = "$C$7" And Target.Value <> 1 Then
Sheets("Stakes").Range("E:E").EntireColumn.Hidden = False
End If
End If
End Sub

Recently I had to change the second sheet that instead of manually entered values, formula results appear in cells. And the above code doesn't work anymore, columns are always stay unhidden. How can I achieve what I want? I need columns get hidden if formula results =1.

Auto Sum With Irregular Rows With Existing Formula - Bold It And Draw Lines

Feb 28, 2014

I have a file with many different row sizes and after calculating the figure, we will need to add up the total for a particular job. Due to the irregular data on each job (some with only 1 line item where sometimes the job have few line items).

The cell to sum already has a formula for the data.

For example, I already have a formula on Column L to get the figures. After few line items, I will need to add a total to the lines item, also on Column L. I think we can uses 2 sets of data from 2 different column as "pointers", Column D and the formula column itself (but I don't know how to). The columns that I need a sum function will be from Column L to X. After doing the sum, can we at the same time draw a sum line? (single top line and double bottom line).

Am I being "too greedy" ? Imagine if we have more than thousands lines of such data to be added manually and to draw these lines manually.
