Use Cell Value To Automatically Generate Link

Apr 10, 2007

For non-blank cells in the range C11:C65536, I want to have a hyperlink automatically generated (in the same cell), using the cell value as a relative variable in the link itself. One intended use for this is to populate the range with stock symbols, and have it generate hyperlinks to the following address:

http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/tic...asp?Symbol=XXX

Where XXX is the stock symbol in the given cell.

Take Contents Of Cell To Generate File Name For Link?

Jan 9, 2012

I have a restaurant and every evening the manager emails me a sales report. The names of these files are all based on the day's date so I know what the file name will be in advance (e.g. today is 20120109.xls and yesterday was 20120108.xls)

I have a master spreadsheet collating the monthly sales data. It links to the daily spreadsheets with links like this:

=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A5,'C:UsersSimonDocumentsPersonalTOSEADaily Sales[20120105.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$6:$F$50,3,FALSE)),0,VLOOKUP($A5,'C:UsersSimonDocumentsPersonalTOSEADaily Sales[20120105.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$6:$F$50,3,FALSE))

Each day I create a new column and drag the previous column's formulas over. I then do a find and replace to change the file name (20120105.xlsx in the example above) to the current day.

What I want to be able to do is change the filename reference in the formula above to a cell within the master spreadsheet that contains the date, so that when I drag over a new column it picks up the date from that cell and automatically uses it to create the filename in the link. The path for the file name remains the same.

In column A on sheet1 I have a list of unique numbers . On sheet2 I have a list of unique numbers that are available. I am currently using this formula,

to look at sheet2 and tell me what number is next after I copy it to sheet1. My problem is how do I automatically generate the next number onto sheet1(by double clicking) and have that number removed from sheet2?

Automatically Generate Passwords For Multiple Sheets

Feb 20, 2014

I have a workbook in which users record the time spent on various activities. I have some code which will copy the worksheet template and create a worksheet for each user (in a defined list of names). Then each worksheet needs to be password protected so only the user can see it (I can do this individually by manually writing in each sheet name and setting a password but will have 80+ users for some groups and it will take ages...)

What I would like to be able to do is also automatically generate a password for each user (combining a word and automatic number e.g. "EMidsTeam123") it may be possible to insert this into the code I already have (which I have copied )...

VB:

Private Sub Workbook_SheetActivate(ByVal Sh As Object)
Dim strPass As String
Dim lCount As Long
If Sh.CodeName <> "Sheet1" Then
'Set sLast variable to the last active sheet This is then used to return the user to the last sheet they were

Automatically Generate Promotional Calendar From List Of Dates

Sep 10, 2013

I have a marketing calendar that I need to update just about daily with new promotional plans because the dates change very often and there are a lot of markets that we are keeping track of. Because the format of the excel is basically a bunch of merged cells to show the range of dates of a particular promotion, it takes a very long time to unmerge and remerge everything when one date changes.

I have an example of what the graph looks like below, as well as a grid of what I would like to use to generate this graph automatically using the start and end dates so thats all you need to change. If you changed the start dates, the market name, or the promo name, the chart would reflect the updates.

Automatically Generate Template Sheet Based On Previous Data

Apr 17, 2014

I currently have a large spreadsheet that multiple people fill out. Each person fills out all the information in a row. At the end of the row, I would like a button that says "Generate Form" so that when clicked, a new sheet automatically opens with a template form that I created and is already filled out with the information that was just inputted into the spreadsheet. Also, there are four different template forms that could generate. For example, there are forms A, B, C and D. If the user inputs "B" into the first column of the row, then when he goes to click "Generate Form", a new sheet is created with all the information filled out in Form B.

Formula That Uses Link In A Cell To Create Offset Link

Jun 28, 2013

I have two worksheets, one with detail monthly information and one with YTD information. So let's say the three numbers I want to capture in the YTD sheet are in columns B, G and I on the monthly sheet. January's data might be in B5, G5 and I5. February's data is in B12, G12 and I12 and so on.

On the YTD sheet in cell C2 I link to Monthly!B5 and in C3 I link to Monthly!B12 so cells C2 to C13 on the YTD sheet show the monthly totals from column B on the detail sheet. On the YTD sheet, cells C20 to C31 show the monthly totals from column G on the monthly sheet, so cells G5, G12, etc. And finally, cells C40 to C51 on the YTD sheet show monthly totals form column I on the monthly sheet.

In the past I've always created all these links manually. After creating the links in C2 to C13 on the YTD sheet, is there a way to use a formula in C21 that uses the link in C2 to create a link for G5?

Update Link Between Sheets Automatically And In Sequence

Nov 1, 2013

I have a excel workbook with One Master Sheet.

The data entered in the master sheet is automatically updated in the sub worksheets through direct links created . Each sub worksheet is a branch of organization. almost 100 branches are there.

The data is entered for all the branches in the Master Sheet at different periods continuously which is to be kept as such.

For example In first day 10th, 15th branch data may be entered in master sheet first and second row, which is getting automatically updated in the respective branch worksheets. But the problem is when the data is entered for any branch( for example 6th branch) in 5th row of Master sheet, in the respective 6th branch sheet also, it is updated only in 5th row only, leaving the first four rows blank. But i want the updation in the branch sheet continuously without any blank rows.

For updation i have used the simple direct link between the cells of Master worksheet and Branch sheets.

How to get the updation in branch worksheets while entering the data in Master sheet without any blank rows.

Link Formula / Update Formula Automatically

Jul 31, 2006

I’m working on quite huge spreadsheets. The same formula will be used on more than 30 sheets.

So far if I have to change the formula in one cell I have to go to each sheet and change it manually (which is quite boring and time consuming).

I’m wondering if it’s possible to reference all the formulas on the sheet to one sheet (which some kind of a master sheet with all the formulas).

I can copy the formula with the “Past Special” function but the function is not updating if I change the formula on the main sheet.

So is it possible to link it and that it’ll be updated automatically when I’m changing the formula on the main sheet?

Generate A Zero In An Empty Cell

I have a spreadsheet for an event in which I enter scores as I go along into either B1:B10 or C1:C10 with the totals appearing in B11 & C11. At the moment when I enter a “”, 0, or a positive score my formula in B11 is: =IF(COUNTBLANK(B1:C2)=2,"",IF(B1="x","x",SUM(B1:B10))) which works fine but I would like to be able to enter a score into either B1 or C1 and a 0 would automatically appear in the opposite cell.

One Cell To Generate Multiple Lines On A Second Sheet

Apr 3, 2013

I am using Excel to generate a CSV file to load into a industrial cutting machine. The CSV file is used to import the cut list. As such formatting and the data per cell in Excel is important.

What I am presently trying to do is input the dimensions and type of the overall part and have the individual pieces be generated in a second sheet. I can presently do something of the sort using extensive 'if' statements. The problem with this is that I can only generate one line for every line I enter.

So this leads to what my problem is. I want to be able to have the info on 'Row one' 'sheet one' generate its parts list (which maybe 1-3 rows) and post that to sheet 2. Then 'row two' 'sheet one' generate it's info, but place it into the next unused row on sheet two. One of the issues I am having is that each row on sheet one may need to generate between 1-4 lines, maybe more, and I don't know how to not overwrite or have gaps on sheet 2.

Am I looking at going into macros or learning VBA?

Cell To Generate The Sum Of The QUANTITY Of Items From Multiple Cells

Mar 21, 2014

I'd like to generate a total sum based on the quantity from each item. So columns H3 - N3 should generate a total in P3 (skipped O) by the quantity entered in each cell. In addition I'd like the value of D3 to change the pricing in the formula. D3 has a drop down with 3 products, so selecting ANY of those products should cancel out the previous formula and replace it with another.

This is the sum without a value in D3
=SUM(H3*10.00)+(I3*8.00)+(J3*6.00)+(K3*18.00)+(L3*10.00)+(M3*8.00)+(N3*8.00)
IF D3 has a package selected from the drop down, I'd like this sum to generate instead.
=SUM(H3*8.00)+(I3*6.00)+(J3*4.00)+(K3*15.00)+(L3*8.00)+(M3*6.00)+(N3*6.00)

Auto Generate Save As Filename From Multiple Cell Data?

Copy Or Link Formatting From Conditionally Formatted Cell To Another Cell?

Aug 12, 2014

I have a column who's content is determined via about 6 nested if statements from data on that row. That cell is then conditionally formatted to a certain color based on the text that is ultimately printed from the nested ifs (simply an extra visual legend for the text). All of this contributing info and about 1000 lines items make a very large and difficult to print page. What I am trying to do is a make a summary sheet that simply takes the index number of these 1000 rows and copies or links the conditional formatting of the mentioned cell onto this number on another sheet. I have already linked this status cell and put it adjacent to the index number which works well in that with two columns I can show the index and status but if I could combine the color of the status cell onto the index cell, it would be even better. I am pretty sure another conditional format for this summary sheet would not be possible or be extremely complex since the contents of the index cell I am conditionally formatting have no bearing on the conditions for the format. Was hoping there is some VBA magic that could simply mimic the conditional formatting from one cell and put it on another.

Auto Generate A Comment Box Based On A Cell Value That Has Variable Reference Cells

Jan 30, 2010

I have been given the following code and it works great. I now need to adapt it to the following scenario: In the attached sheet, the user has to select either, "Suburban" or "Squad" in row 5. If the user selects, "Suburban" I need this script to compare the values they enter in a given row to the value in column "B".
If the user selects, "Squad" I need this script to compare the values they enter in a given row to the value in column "C".

Look at row 48, for example. If the user enters, "Suburban" in cell D5 then the value they enter in cell D48 should equal "1". If it does not equal "1" then it should proceed with the adding of a comment. Conversely, if the user enters, "Squad" in cell D5 then the value the enter in cell D48 should equal "2". If it does not equal "2" then it should proceed with the adding of a comment.

Link To Another Cell

Nov 17, 2008

I would like to have a link in a merged set of cells that puts the insertion point to another cell. Scenario: In cell k30, the user puts in the amount of credit card debt a individual has, and scripts the user based on that information. Later on, they get a more accurate running total of the amount of debt and need to change the amount in k30 for an accurate quote. After ther running total, in cell j172(a merged box for instructions) i instruct the user to be sure to enter the new total in cell K30.

Questions:
1. Is there a way to put a button or a link that would put the insertion point back up to K30 automatically, but allow the user to change it themselves and not change it automatically?
