I have three workbooks. Every workbook has 50 persons IT information. Those are CPU list, Monitor list, UPS list. I would like to create another workbook. Where all user's IT information will be available. Like X user's information required, under x information his CPU, monitor and UPS information link will be available. How to create link of the CPU, UPS monitor sheets with new workbook?
I got a master format in xl2010 to collect data, which is being circulated between my team. members fill in their respective data n mail back the file with their name attached to file name. i want to creat a macro which can copy the data from every members file to master file.
I have a file with a roughly 20 workbooks. I need to split the data in each workbook into two sheets, rename each sheet, then export the data to template with multiple sheets. After splitting the data into the appropriate sheets in the original workbook, Sheet1 in has only 1 row (plus header) and needs to be transferred to "Project Entry" in the template; Sheet2 can have any number of rows (less than 100) and needs to be transferred to "Activity Entry" in the template. I need to save the template based on the value of cell A1 on "Project Entry" sheet of the template. The organization of the columns in the original workbooks is different than that of the template, so this is not a straight copy and paste operation. The cell formatting in the template must be retained.
I have half of this under wraps. I've cobbled together some code that splits the original data where I need it split, copies it to new sheets and saves the files. I now need to figure out out to get it out of this saved file and into the template.
The crosswalk of values between the original data (Sheet1) and the template(Project Entry) needs to look like the below. So, variable 1 exists in column B of the original and needs to populate column B of the template, and column Q in the original needs to populate column G in the template. The variables and column relationships are different for Sheet2/Activity Entry.
I am trying to optimize my code below. It works but it is soo slow, it seems to slow down on the array copy and paste special areas. I believe this is because its doing a cell to cell paste method. These sheets have data as well as graphs that i want to retain on the new sheet, but i could select ranges for each each if that would speed up this procedure.
Sub CreateDataSheet() Dim ws As Worksheet Dim sDataOutputName As String With Application .Cursor = xlWait .StatusBar = "Saving DataSheet..." .ScreenUpdating = False
I used the button in Excel 2010 to record a macro that allows me to format a workbook font and stuff because i do that many times a day for several workbooks. However I want to be able to just push a button and have all open workbooks run the macro I recorded.
I am able to make a button- thats easy, but how do I get it to run for ANY workbook? My problem is that apparently it only runs the workbook that is named a certain way. should i post the code here?
I have two workbooks I am using. Essentially I am copying values out of one workbook, opening a second workbook, manipulating data and pasting it. Everything is working great but one issue! The first workbook has named ranges in it that I don't want in the second workbook (just values). I don't want them because when I try this operation the second time it asks if I want to use the same name or choose a different name. For some reason it is still copying over all the named ranges (all 343 of them!). Is there a way to not allow it to do that or simply just delete the names before I close the second workbook?
I am attempting my first working macro. I am currently using Excel 2010 on Windows XP. Here is what I am attempting: I need a very user friendly macro that will allow my staff to click on a button to run the macro. Each month they receive multiple workbooks from one of our clients. The workbooks are always stored in the same location. I need the macro to go in and pick up the first worksheet of each workbook and copy it into a new workbook. Each original sheet1 of each workbook should have its own sheet in the new workbook, i.e. if there are 5 original workbooks then the macro should create one workbook with 5 sheets. Here is the programming I have been using:
Sub GetSheets() Path = "C:Documents and Settingse462863My Documents utterblotter" Filename = Dir(Path & "*.xls") Do While Filename "" Workbooks.Open Filename:=Path & Filename, ReadOnly:=True For Each Sheet In ActiveWorkbook.Sheets Sheet.Copy After:=ThisWorkbook.Sheets(1) Next Sheet Workbooks(Filename).Close Filename = Dir() Loop End Sub
This works, but I am running into a few problems. I need to create a "run" button but I'm unsure how to build it. Also, when I run this macro there are tons of extra sheets and the worksheets tend to duplicate. I am wondering if the "loop" is picking up more than I need.
I have attached a test workbook excel 2010 (ignore ref# errors, I've cut the workbook down for uploading purposes) What I would like to do is have a 'Button' on my 'information Sheet' which when clicked would clear certain cells. I have searched the forum but can't find a solution, everyone seems to want to delete rows or columns but I just want to clear certain cells. The workbook will have 11 sheets each named 'caravan 1' through to 'caravan 11' The uploaded test workbook only only has 3 sheets.
On 'caravan 1' (which is slightly different to the other 10) I want to clear the content of cells
On all other 'Caravan sheets' I want to clear the contents of cells
D4 & D5 E4, E5, E22, E23, E41 & E42
It would be icing on the cake if it could give a warning such as " are you sure you want to clear these cells" but that isn't really necessary. The worksheets will be password protected, but the cells mentioned above will not be. If it proves too difficult to clear all the cells on all the sheets with one click, then perhaps a simpler solution might be to have a button on each sheet instead
The easiest way I can describe the scenario I am trying to create, is to use a company list of personnel (my index) and to generate a time-sheet workbook per person based on a pre-populated template. This time-sheet is saved as the persons name and has the persons name entered into cell D:10
I have a workbook which contains two worksheets;
1) An Index sheet which contains a list of names that I wish to use in Q16 downwards (note the length of this list will vary each time I run this)
2) A "template" sheet which I wish to duplicate in new workbooks
3) A second "data" sheet that I wish to copy across in new workbooks
I need a macro that will take the "template" and "data" sheets and copy it into a new workbook, renaming each new workbook to each name in my Index sheet. I also want that same Name to be copied into cell reference D:10 of the "template" each time.
The end result is that I should have a series of new files generated and saved which are named the same as the Index list, with both the "Template" sheet and the "Data" sheet present, with the cell D:10 pre-populated with the Name provided in the "Template" sheet.
I know there are many ways to create an "All Data" worksheet. Copy & Paste is the most obvious or pasting named ranges into the new worksheet. I have a workbook with 48 tabs with up to 1000 rows of data per sheet. I need to merge each tab into one main "All Data" worksheet.
How to combine these 48 sheets in an easier way than the two options I already know (Copy/Past or Paste Named Range). Any Add-In's to Excel that can possibly do this? I am using Excel 2010.
How to make this "All Data" worksheet combining data from each sheet of the 48 tabs would be most useful.
I am using MS Office 2010. I want to count---on multiple sheets---the number of times that a given cell is greater than another cell if and only if a third cell is equal to a given value. I want to do this for 4 sets of data on each sheet. I thought I had it figured out with this formula---
but it returns a value of zero each time. Clearly there is an error in the formula.
Here is some background: -- $H$1:$H$43 is a block of cells that has the names of the sheets in the workbook -- E1 and F1, G1 and H1, I1 and J1, K1 and L1 are the four groups of cells that I am comparing. In the entire workbook, I want to add 1 (counting function) only when: R1=2 AND E1>F1 or S1=2 AND G1>H1 or T1=2 AND I1>J1 U1=2 and K1>L1 on each appropriate sheet in the workbook.
I upgraded to Excel 2010 from Excel 2000 a couple months ago. In Excel 2010, after double-clicking on values in a pivot table to create a new worksheets, I'm unable to highlight those worksheets and add a column to all of them. I was able to do this in Excel 2000... I can't figure out what's stopping it from happening for the life of me. Am I missing something obvious here?
We have just refreshed our entire printer fleet to Xerox printers and as part of the project we have selected all defaults to B&W and duplex.
On a multi sheet excel file, If we click print then choose entire workbook and then change the print options to colour, it prints the only first worksheet in colour, and all the others in mono. i have read that excel treats each worksheet separately and does not cascade the changes made made in the first worksheet even if all sheets have been selected.
How can I get them all to print in colour?
We can set up another printer and change the defauts to colour but we dont want to go down that road and have 2 printers installed for each model.
Is there any code out there can will/ can change the properties of the first worksheet and cascade this throughout the workbook.
We use XP and W7 workstations and office 2003, 2007 and 2010. By the end of the year all workstations will be W7 and Office 2010.
i want to copy data from one excel workbook to other (or ever between diff sheet wud do ) on basis of search on a complete column by picking data one by one from other column & on finding the exact match copy 4 columns form one workbook(or sheet) to other. this has to be done 4 a bulk of data (1000+) so manually is next to impossible.
I have five excel separate excel files containing values covering more than 500,000 rows each. I want to put then in a single excel workbook without tedious work of copy/paste to sheets of this workbook.
I have many excel files(nearly 500 in total and growing daily) in a folder called "Results Data" on my C drive. The file names are slightly different (serial numbers). Each excel file contains data in Cells A2:E11. I want to be able to copy only the Cells A2, B4, D5 and E10 from each workbook and paste them into a new workbook, each copied workbook on a new row.
I have been trying to change code that I have found on the web but nothing seems to be working,
I have developed a macro, run by a button click, in my workbook.
I have about 5 other workbooks to process, what I want to do is to have my workbook with my macro open, then either copy or import these other 5 workbooks, one at a time, into my current workbook so I can run my macro on their data. Not sure if I need to copy them in or not, but thats all I can think of. I'm not even sure how to do this manually, I tried having my workbook open and doing a file - import on the .xls file, but it seems to be translating my data and I'm ending up with a value of 'f1' in one of my columns, no idea what that is. All I really want to accomplish is to run my macro on each of the 5 workbooks, one at a time.
1. I have a large number of Test Suites that are large documents with 1 (visible) sheet w/ test cases, and 1 (hidden) sheet w/ validations. Test Suite is saved with a unique name (that follows a naming convention we've set up on this project: <Project>_<Test Suite Category>_<Location in Software>_< date>.xls
2. I need to create a master document in which i can run a macro that will copy each "test suite" sheet from each of these documents, insert it into the master doc, and sort the sheets by name. then it needs to present the data from all of the sheets on the main page of the doc, and break down the results by Test Suite Category, and Location.
Is this possible?
Can I create a macro that will import sheets from (potentially) hundreds of different workbooks, and then sort them appropriately?
I've been looking all over the place, and while i've seen macros that can import specific data, rows, or columns, i havn't quite seen what i'm looking for.
I have a series of workbooks residing in different directories which I am trying to copy into a summary workbook. At present what I did is to open the summary workbook and the individual workbook one by one and copy into the summary workbook by first right clicking of the individual workbook's name tab and select copy to copy onto the summary workbook as a new worksheet. I have about 20 individual workbook to copy and this always take a bit of time every week.
To be a bit clearer, the workbooks are in the following directories and the workbook name and sheet name are shown below. For simplicity sake I will only list 3 of them.
1. D:ContractINF00012301.xls the tab name is 2301 2. D:ContractINF0022403.xls the tab name is 2402 3. D:ContractINF00038400.xls the tab name is 8400
I'm currently doing a survey using an excel workbook that contains multiple questions across multiple worksheets using radio buttons linked to certain cells.
I have around 400 workbooks coming back to me, so what i want to do is take specific values from across many worksheets within each workbook and combine them into a large master table in a seperate workbook.
I've tried using VBA, but not being very proficient at it i've hit a brick wall with that, so i'm hoping that there is an easier way to do it than what i'm currently pursuing.
I've got a variable row length list of data, 24 columns wide with column headers in row 7 and file descriptions on the above rows, that I need to split up into seperate Workbooks dependant upon values in the last column, all rows with the same value in column X form the same new Workbook, which I can then SaveAs with a name associated with the value. I've seen a similar thing done to sheets on the forums by using the Advance Filter and I would adapt that to copy each created worksheet to a new workbook, but a) this seems inefficient and b) my unique values are too long to name sheets from.
I need to open each workbook, copy Sheet1, paste to next available Sheet# in Combined.xls, close the workbook and move to the next workbook.
I have the code for copying a specific sheet from one workbook to a new workbook. But I do not have the code which would perform the above mentioned task for me and I don't have any idea for how am I going to do this without your help
I have used the Search option to find out if this question had already been answered but I could not find a solution for this specific request
For work I have to create copies of the same workbook for every day of the month. I have got the following to do it properly, which may not be the best way so I am open to suggestions, but I don't want it to save this macro in every workbook. There are however other macros that I do want it to take with it, just not this one.
Sub SaveByDate() Dim a As Integer, b As Integer, c As Integer
' number of days in month + 1 (this is just a test; for Jan a = 32) a = 6
' start date b = 1
c = 0 For c = 1 To a If c < a Then
MyMonth = "Jan" MyDay = b MyFileName = MyMonth & " " & MyDay & " 2008 daily report" ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=MyFileName b = c + 1 End If Next c End Sub
