Im trying to convert the data in certain columns to number. I need to select the rows in those columns based on the rows counted in another column with a different heading, this is because there can be breaks in the data half way down the columns.
The Code I have so Far is:
Code:
Sub ConvertTonumber()
'Convert Certain Columns to numbers
'Use the "x"column to Calculate how many rows are required to fill the columns.
Dim ColX As Range
I have a spreadsheet with rows of data. I need a formula that will return the column number of the last column in a row where there is a value >0.
Let's say that cells A1:F1 contain values. Some have values of 0 while others have values >0. I need a formula in cell G1 that will tell me the column number of the last value >0.
A B C D E F 0 2 5 0 6 0
So the formula in G1 would return a value of 5, which corresponds to column E.
in a macro i have this: col=cell.column 'suppose col=16384. then i need to place in a cell this formula =(XFD2708*100/XFD2597)-100 so i'm looking for "something" that can convert 16384 in XFD.
I am inserting a formula into a cell using VBA, but the problem is that I don't know the letter value of column "K" (used in the middle of the line); instead, I know it as column number 11. Is there a simple way to convert the column number 11 to the column letter "K"?
Some bits of code I have learned use column numbers and some bits use column letters.
Can someone share a line or two that I could add to my macro that will convert the F representing column F into a 6, and vice versa, so that I can continue using my pre-existing bits?
I wanted to know if there was a way to either make a variable hold a column letter or else automatically convert a column number to a letter. This would be for use in the Range property.
All I could find is some complicated technique requiring division by 26 that I will never remember let alone code quickly.
Or if you have a variable holding a column number, is the only way to use it with Cells?
I would like to automate the conversion of multiple versions of company names contained in cells to a single company name. i.e. XYZ Inc., XYZ Co., XYZ to all cells XYZ. My data file contains numerous versions of company names. I want them to all be the same company name so sorting data is easier. I now do this manually and it is getting tedious and time consuming. Can I build a table with the different versions that then chamges the cells to a single version that I choose?
I have a problem that when I try to convert text to number and format the number without 2 decimal places as seen on the link I have given below, Instead of 1607.947, I get 1607947. I have Excel 2010 loaded. The details are in below picture.
Column A | Column B | Column C Los Angeles | Fire Dept | 3 Los Angeles | Health Services | 12 New York | Fire Dept | 8 New York | Health Services | 22 New York | Internal Services | 100 New York | Public Works | 7 Chicago | Health Services | 15 Chicago | Public Works | 56 Chicago | Social Services | 4
And I am trying to make it look like this:
Fire Dept Health Services Internal Services Public Works Social Services
i have this function that poulates data from a userform into a sheet.
For lLoop = 1 To MAWBNoVar With Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp) .Offset(1, 0) = Controls("txtMAWB" & lLoop) .Offset(1, 1) = Left(Controls("cbDestination" & lLoop), 3) .Offset(1, 2) = Controls("txtGW" & lLoop) .Offset(1, 3) = Controls("txtCBM" & lLoop) .Offset(1, 4) = "= ROUND(E" & Y & "*167,0)" .Offset(1, 5) = "=IF(D" & Y & ">F" & Y & ",D" & Y & ",F" & Y & ")" .Offset(1, 6) = "=IF(F" & Y & ">D" & Y & ",G" & Y & "-D" & Y & ",G" & Y & "-F" & Y & ")" Y = Y + 1 End With Next lLoop
My problem is that the data being entered into the sheet for the lines highlighted in red is going in as text, and not true numerics, so that the subsequent formulae are not working correctly.
I need to clear the contents of a columns G and H starting 11th row based on what is there in F column. The macro should check for last non-empty cell in column F starting F11 (assume it finds F30 to be last non-empty cell), then it should clear the contents of G11 to G30, H11 to H30.
I have created an Excel spreadsheet teachers schedule for a small school with 8 teachers. I have assigned a number to each teacher (1 - 8) so that a number typed in a cell in Column E will cause a teachers name to appear in a cell in Column G. The ranges are E3:E20 and G3:G20. I hope to find a Macro that will display each teachers name in a different color.
I have the file here i work with, basically the first column is a legend and the column to the right of it is a pointer column to help me find out where a legend is located in another file. So i was wondering if a macro could be made to basically find where the "legend column" A, C, E ect ends ( every other column is a legend column , one next to it is a pointer column ). and then combine the ends all of the columns contents and put them into 1 column.
In the file with this question i have showed you what i start off with, i highlighed in yellow where each column legend ends, ( normally these are not highlighted and i find them manually ). In the 2nd tab i show what the end result should be. All the columns are now consolidated into 1 column. 1 after the other.
I have a list that is streets and addresses. All contained in column A. Cell A1 is the street name and then Column A3 is the street number. This repeats down column A for almost 1000 street names. I need to fill column B3 with the street name, as well as B4, B5, B6, etc until the street name changes. I was trying to do this with an if..then but couldn't get it to work. I also tried to work on a do.. loop looking for the change from a string to number. But my programming is a little rusty. If anyone can help I was be forever grateful. I mean the alternative is to sit here and copy and paste all day.
I want to create a formula that will refer to the cell I want by adding a number to the cell reference, not to the contents of the cell. For example, lets say that the cell C11 holds a value of 22. I want to add 4 to C11 to get my formula to reference cell C15, I don't want it to add 4 to the contents of C11 which is 22 and would give me a result of 26. I have a large spreadsheet and I can't just fill down the way I have it now and I don't want to have to retype the formula every time.
I have a spreadsheet with 60k lines. One of the columns contains barcodes as per the example below, with a suffix of -XXX-XXX where the XXX are numbers. I want to highlight all the cells where the -XX-XX are the same number (as in the example below -303-303) how I can do this with a formula as I've around 30 spreadsheets each with 60,000 lines I need to sort through?
The yellow highlighted column F (each Reason) in the sheet2 to be placed as main header in the next column and so on as seen in the sheet 3
If they have two similar item number with 2 different reasons - delete the duplicate item number and place the number in each column according to its reason as seen on row 16 on the sheet3
If they have two number with similar reason - just sum up the number
I’d like to check each row in Column F and Column K of Sheet Check. If Column F has the contents “Out” and Column K has any contents inside its cell, I’d like to copy that row and insert it into Sheet Alert. As a result the same row will exist in Sheet Check and Sheet Alert. This code will cut the row out of Sheet Check and paste the row into Sheet Alert if the contents “Out” is found in Column F.
I'm just trying to get a total of columns E, F and G, and place those totals in row 5. The problem is that somehow the numbers in column G were stored as text, so the SUM formula is coming up "0". How would I format these cells, in a macro, (columns E, F and G, just in case the data in the other two columns were stored as text), as a number so that I can total them.
I've tried selecting the column, selecting format cells and choosing number, but that doesn't work. I can manually select the cells, click the little exclamation point, and then tell it to convert to number. This works, but when I tried to record it to add it to the macro, it didn't record anything but the selection of the cells.
I have a string of imported data which comes into an existing spreadsheet. It cannot be changed prior to importing as the data is provided by an external vendor.
When the data is imported into my spreadsheet the Error Checking tag comes on, after I select the cells where certain numeric data has been entered, stating that this is a range of Numbers Stored as Text. If I click on the Error Checking tag and select the Convert to Number option and then enter my VLOOKUP function I get the desired answer. If I do not convert the text to numbers then my VLOOKUP function does not work at all. The cell just displays the function text itself instead of the desired answer.
Here is what I am requesting:
Assistance with writing the VBA code to accomplish the manual task of converting the text to numbers. I have tried to format using the Ribbon without success.
