We have a requirement to spread/phase amounts over multiple columns (representing months) using a weighting (represents working days per month).
We will calculate the weighting result in excel first (represented by a % per month), so the macro will be more of an allocation of row amount against the equivalent column %.

Jul 13, 2009Part of the assesment task is to write a formula, to work out how many days in advance the customer paid, and then apply the needed discount. I have tried several basica variations to the formula, and keep getting the same Err message.
give point me in the right direction to how i can calculate amount of days paid in advance and apply a % discount?
attached is the start of the assesment question.
You should create and enter formulas to calculate the No. of Days paid in Advance, the Discount and the Course Fee Paid.
Use a VLOOKUP function in your template to determine the discount rate to be used for the calculation of the Discount. Your template should include a separate discount table containing the following information about the discount received:
If students pay the course fee less than 7 days prior to the course commencing then they receive no discount.
If students pay the course fee 7 to 13 days prior to the course commencing then they receive a discount of 5%.
If students pay the course fee 14 to 20 days prior to the course commencing then they receive a discount of 8%.
If students pay the course fee 21 days or more prior to the course commencing then they receive a discount of 10%.

Sep 28, 2011I need a formula to count how many days hours & mins between 2 dates but included in the formula need to ensure it only counts business days.

I need in Column AP to show 0 00:02
The formula I have tried using is - =IF(AO3="","",AO3-A3) which doesnt work as instead of showing 0 00:02 it shows 1 00:02. I dont want it to count as 1 day just 2 mins.
Once that has been worked out I need to include WORKDAYS formula to only count working days. I have created the list on 'Controls' Tab Column A10:A47.
merge these together to create the one formula?

Jun 10, 2009I am trying to count the amount of cells in a column (Col H) containing data against a certain date which is displayed in another column (Col B)
Eg.

So that in the sheet next to it it would appear:

The dates don't appear in row order and the sheet has a filter on it so I am unable to select the Col H and just use COUNTA

Column D lists a service offered by a business, such as IMC, TC, Respite, etc
Column M lists how long the customer has used this service for in weeks, such as 4,5,3.5,6 etc
What I would like to do in another column is to count the number of clients who have used the service for 6 weeks or more broken down by the service type i.e. Count how many people have used IMC for 6 weeks or more.
If possible I would also like to be able to count those who have used a service for between 5.1. and 5.9 weeks too, again by service i.e. Count how many people have used IMC for between 5.1. and 5.9 weeks.

Count Duplicates As Unique Record, Sum Amount
Mar 14, 2007I have a spreadsheet will a large amount of invoice numbers, some of which are multiple occurrences of the same number. I need to count the duplicates as one unique record and sum but I need to sum the total $ amount of each amount attached to each occurrence.
Please look at the sample to see what I mean.
W234678 has three amounts that are added to give a total amount for that number and it is added to the count as one record.
I had this code kindly borrowed from someone else which helped me find the duplicates but it is not meeting my needs.

I only know how to build a formula that snags cells that contain 1 but not 2 different ones within the same cell. Excel 2010 :: Lines Count - How To Expand Amount Of Columns In One Spreadsheet
Dec 27, 2011I'm using Excel 2010. One spreadsheet I'm using has 1048576 lines and is a XLSX file. The other file has 65536 lines and is also a XLSX file. When I try to do a VLOOKUP, I'm given an error stating "invalid reference. This file version cannot contain formulas that reference cells beyond 256 columns or 65536 lines.
If both are XLSX files how do I expand the amount of columns in the one spreadsheet with 65536 lines? I thought all XLSX files had a million lines.

Sep 22, 2006I have a spreadsheet with a list in column A, and starting from column D in row 1 are daily dates e.g. 01/10/06, 02/10/06, 03/10/06. On a daily basis an x is added manually to the spreadsheet where the list criteria matches the specific date e.g

What i would like to do in column C is to measure how many x's are in the last 10 days for each row. I have used formulas in the past to do something similar but I can't find them. Sorry I can't upload a sample but firewall won't allow.

In one column, I have a digit in each cell to represent the day of the month each month that the bill is due. Someone helped me with a formula that can count down days to a date that is a higher number than the present day of the month, but can I get a formula to count the days from, say, December (or any month) 28th to a due date of the 6th (of the next month)?

=COUNTIF(B3,">25252525=36")+COUNTIF(V3,">=36")+COUNTIF(X3,">=36")+COUNTIF(Z3,">=36")
The formula above works, but i end up with several long strings of Countif. I'd like to know if there is a way wherein i can use a shorter formula.
How Can I Count Workable Days
Jan 15, 2009when I try to calculate the worked days between two dates using the formula "Networkdays" in excel, the result just count the days from Monday to Friday.
Example:
If I want to calculate the workable days from 12/1/08 (Start_date in cell A1) to 1/14/09 (End_date in cell A2) by using the formula: =NETWORKDAYS(A1,A2)
the result will be 33 days, but due to fact that I also need to count Saturdays, the result that I need must be 39 days.
Days Count From Specified Date
Jan 14, 2007 The union has instated a new policy here and new hires now have a 120 working day probationary period. That comes out to about 6 months. ( 168 days minus the 48 days off) . what Im looking for is a formula that will calculate each date that has passed as one starting at a 48
also adding in to the equation that every day sick counts against that 120 and everyday of OT counts as positive brining them closer to the 120 they need.
I can figure out the math part of adding and subtracting the days. But what I cant figure out is how do I get it to read each date as one starting from the date in cell b3
Example cell b3 has 9/25/06 cell b4 has 3/12/07 all the days that have passed count as one.
The total starts as a 48( due to the days off) with the verabial, d8 is a negative and d9 is a positive. To be added in to the total.

Jul 27, 2007I am using the following array to determine the total dollar of contracts reviewed in one month.
=SUMPRODUCT(($C$5:$C$3002>$H18)*($C$5:$C$3002<$I18)*(D$5:D$3002))
Column C has the actual Date
Column H the beginning of the month
Column I the end of the month and
Column D the dollar amount
Now I would like to count the number of contracts that fall in the following categories in a given month. The minimum number is in Column N and the maximum in Column O.
1-499,999
500,000-2,499,999
2,500,000-4,999,999
5,000,000-12,499,999
12,500,000-24,999,999
25,000,000-64,999,999
65,000,000+
I can get the count for each category but am having difficulty with the count in the specific month. Does any one have any suggestions - other than a pivot table?
I am attaching a small sample.

Example:
If employee works 25 days during weekdays he will get counted as = 30 days
If employee works only 22 days during weekdays with 3 absences during weekdays he will get counted as = 27 days.
If employee works from 1st to 24th and 25th to 30th absence he will get counted as = 24 days.
