Need way to interupt my code whilst the user selects a row. ie. if I wanted to move the contents of one row to another I would want to say: "select source row" (and want the user to click on any cell in that row) I could then put the rownumber in a variable with

Is it possible to write VBA code that will prevent a user from changing a cell's contents, depending on the cell's font color?
More specifically, I have a column of text in range B15:B64. Some of the cells will have a black font, others will be blue. Is it possible to lock the black font cells only, leaving the blue cells unlocked for users to change?

I am using the following piece of code to delete unwanted rows from a worksheet:
Sub DeleteDates()
FinalRow = Cells(65536, 3).End(xlUp).Row
For i = FinalRow To 1 Step -1
If Cells(i, 3).Value Like "*2007*"
Cells(i, 1).EntireRow.Delete
End If
Next i
End Sub
What I am working with is a sheet of about 5000 customer appointments going back to the beginning of 2006. A have peiced together a lot of code to format it exactly as I want and to create a pivot table of what is remaining after the rubbish has been deleted.
However I am finding that I need to keep amending and re-running this bit of code, depending on the date range I want to look at. For example the code above will delete all appointments made in 2007.
My question is: is there a way that I could incorporate an input box, whereby excel asks the user for a start date and an end date and deletes any rows outwith that range?
Some important info: All of the dates are in column C, in the format mmm yyyy
I would only need to narrow down to a month - so for example mar 2008 - jun 2008

I have an month input in cells B2 (user can enter values from 1-5)
I then have a data table that has month 1,2,3,4,5 running across range G9:K9. the data is held in range G10:K19.
So if user types in 4 in B2, what should happen is that months 1,2,3 and 4 the data for these months should be cleared and data in month 5 moves forward into month 1.
So basically, anything left of the month entered is B2 should be cleared and replaced with anything right of the month in B2.

I have a user form that has a combo box "City" two text boxes one called "Flight" and the other "Date". What I'm trying to do is to prevent the user from saving the data input from the user form if any of those three fields is left blank. The code that I have so far checks all of the required fields, if any are left blank a message notifys which field(s) is left blank and return the focus back to that field. But the rest of code also fires.
What I really need is either to stop the code if any fields are blank and return the focus back to the blank field, the user completes the field(s) and clicks the save again, or better yet, pause the code until all the required fields are completed and then complete the save. (There is actually another 200+ lines of code in this sub, but I deleted it to keep the post a little shorter.)

I am just getting started and have over 1000 items in the list. I want to be able to run a macro that would take the root portion of the image link and then replace the 'imagename.jpg' with 'modelnumber.jpg'
So start with
Column 1 www.photobucket.com/a/aa/a/imagename.jpg
Column 2 LAT-NR460
and end up with
Column 1 www.photobucket.com/a/aa/a/LAT-NR460.jpg
Column 2 LAT-NR460
Column 1 could start empty or just with the root.

I have a spreadsheet with a serial number is row 1 in column A with the rest of Row 1 empty. Column A is empty in Row 2, but has the data associated with the row above in columns B through L of Row 2. Then comes 2 blank rows and the pattern repeats with a new serial number in column A of row 5 and so on. I would like to move the serial number down one row, delete the now empty first row, delete the following 2 empty rows, and then loop to do the same thing again for all 9000 rows of the spreadsheet.

I have a form on a separate tab where I input data then have a button that should update the data to a separate tab. Using the code snippet below, on a blank sheet it works but on the second input it ends and the next record input overwrites the second line and all subsequent input does the same. It basically stops at line two.
Code:
Sub Button7_Click()
Dim DateRecvd As Date, OccurDate As Date, SalesLine As String, OwnerLName As String, OwnerFName As String, RepID1 As Integer, RepID2 As Integer, MgrName As String, QAName As String, ContractNbr As String, Policy1 As Integer, Policy2 As Integer, Policy3 As Integer, Policy4 As Integer, Policy5 As Integer, Summary As String, ActionTaken As String, Outcome As String, Volume As Long, SiteNote As String
[Code]...
The Clear Form is used after entering a record and it works fine. I tried a few different things I found online but no luck, it always goes back to the second line and won't advance to the next empty row.

I have designed a form for my wife to use in school to help teach fractions and decimals.
The children will enter the numerator into a cell (say D2) and the denominator into another cell (say D6) and the decimal equivalent is then displayed to 2 decimal places in a third merged cell (say C8 - E8).
What I would like to do is this:
When the worksheet opens, the only cell that I want the children to be able to enter data into is the first cell (ie D2). When they enter a value (say 1 for the numerator) I'd like the return key to move the data entry to the next cell (which is D6). After this, when they have entered another value (say 3 - they are invesigating thirds for example), I'd like the return key to move to the next numerator cell (which is H2), then denominator cell (H6) and so on.
How do I do this? I have never created forms or macros and I suspect that this is how to do this.
For the first set of fractions that they are investigating, thirds, I'd like to limit their data entry in the denominator cells only (D6, H6, L6, P6, etc) to 3 and reject any other number. Later in the worksheet, they will be investigating quarters, fifths and so on.
How do I do this? I don't want then to use any list or drop-down, simply to type a value into the cell and it be accepted (if it is a 3 when investigating thirds) if it is correct or simply ignored if it isn't. Is this possible?
way, especially if it involves anything complicated like macros. Being active on lots of forums it is quite depressing when I see that someone has answered a poster's question but the answer seems to either assume a high level of knowledge or tends to assume that certain steps are taken without actually stating them.

Attached is a document, column C & F highlighted in green are areas that users will input data. I need to create a button (top left of spreadsheet) that when pressed moves both the data from column C & F up into the box above. The top set of dates would be deleted and the dates from Trip 2 would move up into the Trip 1 position, Dates from Trip 3 would move up into Trip 2 position and so on.

There are a series of input cells in a protected worksheet and when the user hits an enter, tab or arrow key, the selection cycles through them in order. The cycle also restarts when the mouse clicks one of the cells out of order. After I switch worksheets and return to the first worksheet with the code, first it says there is a "Compile Error: Sub or Function Not Defined" and the code "Call SetKeys" in Sheet1 is hilighted. When I ignore that and stop the debugger, there is a "Run-time error '13' Type mismatch" and the code line "If arrIndex > 0 And arrIndex < UBound(arr) Then" is highlighted.
My question is: why doesn't the code work after I switch worksheets? especially given that it works perfectly before I switch worksheets. (ie the file opens on sheet 1 and everything is perfect, click sheet 2 tab and back to sheet 1 - nothing works) I also have yet to figure out why it seems to be necessary to post the same code in both ThisWorkbook and Sheet1.
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
'This code allows the user to change the unlocked cells, but protects each worksheet
Dim wSheet As Worksheet
For Each wSheet In Worksheets
wSheet.Protect Password:="mypassword", _
UserInterFaceOnly:=True

I need to query a column and find the cells that have been incorrectly coded. For example the coding standard is #<reference number>/. Sometimes people forget the "/". It is not as easy as using search and replace because the string may have more contents than the above.
For example it may show: ATM/45678/#789876 dt. 1-2-14/ or it something like CHQ/44384/#78987600.
There are many permutations. So I need to find the cells that don't have a "/" following the #<reference number>, then allow a user to enter the slash. At this stage, I don't need code to find cells containing errors, I think I can figure that out. I do need to know how to allow the user to edit the cell as part of the macro. Once the user corrects the error, the macro should then continue. Is this possible?

Step 2: If yes, run the macro
Step 3: If no, prompt the user with a msgbox of Retry/Cancel.
Step 4: If the user selects Retry, wait till he makes a selection.
Step 5: If the selection is a chart, run the macro. If the selection is not a chart prompt the same msgbox again and keep looping it till he selects a chart.

'Get data for the locations of the gaming license numbers needed for the comparison
varPlayerHost = InputBox("Please enter a single letter for the" + vbCrLf + _

varHostLicense = InputBox("Now enter the column letter for the copied employee" + vbCrLf + _
"license numbers", "Employee License Number Location", "U")
'Set the ranges for the data to be compared
'This is where I am getting the error???
Set rRangeA = Range([varPlayerHost,1], Range(varPlayerHost, 65536).End(xlUp))
Set rRangeB = Range([varHostLicense,1], Range(varHostLicense, 65536).End(xlUp))
'The actual comparison and deletion of record that match the license numbers copied.
'When this function finishes you will be left with a spreadsheet that only has patron
'information left for the patrons that have an invalid host number.
For Each rCell In rRangeA
If WorksheetFunction. CountIf(rRangeB, rCell) > 0 Then

I have create an excel formula that I need to input data daily.
Every day, I need to insert a line and input my new data.
Below is my formula
=IF(V159="Skip","Go",IF(P160>0,IF(COUNTIF(C60:D154,">"&H159+3),"Good"),IF(COUNTIF(C60:D154,"<"&H159-3),"Good")))
The problem is that when I insert a line. Most of my variable will change according except C60:D154
As you can see below
V159 change to V160 = This is good
C60:D154 do not change accordingly. How can I make it change accordingly ?? Why it is not changing when I insert a line ?
=IF(V160="Skip","Go",IF(P161>0,IF(COUNTIF(C60:D154,">"&H160+3),"Good"),IF(COUNTIF(C60:D154,"<"&H160-3),"Good")))

I would like a cell to have user input. If there is no input then the cell should reference a value in another cell. My strategy was to use a formula in another cell to check to see if the user input cell was empty. If it was empty then the formula propagated the cell. If it had user inputted data then it stayed like it was.
Here is an example:
Begin Invent
1000
Gallons
End Invent
User input or
formula here
Gallons
Received
Gallons
Used
Gallons
I want the user to be able to input a value for the End Invent cell right below 1000. If there is no value I want that same cell to mirror the cell above it with the 1000 in it.

I have a cell which team members enter their team name in to. For example FR1 and RA5. I set up data validation to only allow four characters so they can enter RA10 FR15 etc. However I have now found some are entering FR 1 with a space between the team name and number. This then means my formulas further on are not picking up the cell correctly. How can I have the space between the FR and 1 removed automatically upon user input?

I need a cell to display a default value (something like "Input Here") which a user can overwrite with a value. When the value is erased, the cell should return to the default. Preferably, it'd be great if the cell reset to the default value whenever the workbook is opened as well (i.e. won't save the user's input value).

I am trying to build a user-friendly Excel database that takes the user's input from various cells and logs that data input by the user in successive rows to the side. Please see the screenshots of my current spreadsheet below:
Compressor Database.jpg
From the screenshot above, I would like for the user to input their data for the Date of Last Inspection, Current Hours, and check the boxes for any services they performed in the orange/pink "Input" box on the left. Currently I have the spreadsheet set up so that the orange/pink "input" areas recognize data put in to the yellow "Data Log" cells to the right. I am trying to get the yellow "Data Log" cell area to store the Date and Hours data put in by the user in successive rows like a database, but I am not sure how to do this. I was thinking of putting a button in the says "Log Data" which would, when clicked, store the data in the "Data Log" cells. I am unsure if I need to use a Macro or whether Excel has a simple, built-in function that can be used. Eventually I have plans for the "Date of Last _______ Change" Gray boxes, but would like to take this one step at a time.
I am not well versed in VBA and Excel Macros, and I am currently using Microsoft Excel 2007 (yes, I know it is old). I do have C# and Matlab coding experience, however I would like to do this in Excel to make it easier for the User as it is a well known program.
