I want to do a lookup and return to a new list just the unique entries, such as this:
product1

I have it working now using a pivot table to get me the unique items, but there must a be a more efficient function to do this.

I am seeking to pull names from a list on one worksheet in to particular cells on another worksheet using each name only once. I need a function or series of them that can accomplish this. I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of months with no luck as I always get into some form of circular reference....

I have a dynamic list of names from B2:B500. I want to write a macro that finds all the unique entries from that list and pastes it to AD3:AD501 everytime the macro is run. What would be the code for this procedure.

In that file, you can see there is a list of somewhat similar data across 5 columns. Some of the entries are duplicates, some are different by only one character. What I want to be able to do is generate a list of all the unique rows of data, taking into account the data from ALL 5 columns. The list can be on another sheet or simply just further down on the same sheet, that doesn't matter too much.
I could do it if it were just one column of data, but struggling trying to do it with several columns.

Basically from Sheet OEE V20:V500 I have a list of problems being selected from a drop down list validation (which users can add to the list for new problems). Along side these "problems" in Sheet OEE U20:U500 I have a number which represents the number of minutes the problem caused them. Some cells in both these columns will however be empty if there was no problem occour. But wherever there is a problem selected, there will be a number alongside it, there will never be one without the other.
What I want to do is look down Sheet OEE V20:V500 and get two lots of information -
The unique problem names (no duplicates of the same problem) in Sheet Reports A1:A100 for example (I may change the range of this).
The number of occurances of each of the problems it lists in Sheets Reports B1:B100.
Count up the total number of minutes of each problem. So for every occurance of "Paper problem" there will be a unique number in Column U in the same row as the problem and place this in Sheet Reports C1:C100.
I would ideally like to have this as VB code as I am going to tie it into a command button which formats and prints my report page.
I have found various bits of code dotted about the forums for counting unique cell entries but they always seem to produce a list with lots of blank rows (I would like a list one after another without blank rows all over the place) and I'm really struggling to figure out how to make it count up the numbers in the adjacent cell of each entry it sees.
Just in case the list of problems for the cell validation in Sheet OEE V20:V500 is found in Sheet OEE AQ16 downwards.

I'm having problem with the ISBLANK function. I have attached my workbooks if someone would care to look at them. My macro basically loads two lists from other workbooks (old & new (attached)). It then finds out which entries are unique to each list, and places them in the EXCEPTIONS sheet.
Column C in these sheets should say TRUE or FALSE as to whether the corresponding cells in Column B are blank but it does not work. Book1.xls contains my macro.
Old.xls and New.xls will need to be selected when prompted.

I'm looking for a formula (VBA I'm assuming) that will help me create a unique customer ID out of data that my website generates in order to import records into my accounting system.
I have a current list of customers in CSV format with the columns: CustomerID, CustomerName, CustomerZip
Each customer in our accounting system is assigned a unique,7 digit CustomerID in the format of XXX#### where XXX are the first 3 letters of their last name, and #### is a 4 digit number (with leading 0's) to create unique ID's for customer with the same first 3 characters of their last name. SAMPLE LIST:
SCH0001, Lindsey Schubert, 75230
SCH0002, Thomas Schoembs, 53132
ADA0001, Samantha Adams, 28205
...
What I'd like to do is pass the formula 3 parameters (Cust_First_Name, Cust_Last_Name, Zip) and have it parse the .CSV file and either return an existing customer's current ID or generate the appropriate new, unique ID, making sure in increase the 4 digit # accordingly and insert leading 0's if necessary.
Another caveat, if possible to work with, is the ability to also pass the formula another range of cells to append to the end of the .CSV file's data for comparison reasons. There are times when I'll bulk-import orders (or we receive numerous in the same batch) and the potential exists to have two customers that would have the same CustomerID created using JUST the .CSV data. Ie. If we use the example above and have new customers of Steve Schwab and Julie Schwitzer - we'd end up incorrectly assigning them both SCH0003, where if we'd read Steve Schwab's newly created info and customer ID of SCH0003, then Schwitzer would correctly be assigned SCH0004.

In column CT between rows 11:210 is the vertical data that includes duplicates. I am looking to create a formula that can lookup each value between CT11:CT210 and return only the unique values horizontally starting in cell CW9 and onwards.
Example: CT11:CT14 looks like
5x20
6x4
5x20
5x8
and so on and so forth..
I would then like this formula to return the above data (which goes all the way to CT210) in this format starting in cell CW9 - 5x20 then CX9 - 6x4 and finally CY9 - 5x8.

I need to return all the unique matches from a set of data.
For example, when a product is selected, I need to list all the possible venues it is sold from. I will use this venue list to populate my drop-down listbox, as opposed to having a 100 venues in the list, I just wish to have the applicable ones.
Example of data set I need to lookup in:
prod 1 venue1
prod 2 venue 2
prod 1 venue 3
prod 1 venue 10
prod 2 venue 6
I would like to use a formula if I can (not a macro), to list that prod 1 is only sold in venue 1,3, 10.
It would be great if one could use a vlookup type of formula and it could return a list of each occurence of the look-up'ed cell.....

I have a worksheet (say, Sheet1) that I am going to manually import a large data set into on a weekly basis for reporting purposes. One of the columns from this data dump will have the header "Design Id" in the first row, but it may not be in the same column every time. I am trying to figure out how to create dropdown lists on a separate worksheet (say, Sheet2) in the same workbook where the data source always looks up the column containing the header "Design Id" from Sheet1 and then returns only the unique values from that column as options in the list.

(2) Also, is it possible to include the fill coulour based on selections in A2 and B2?

I am trying to create a quotation spreadsheet and want the drop down list to contain the materials but once a selection is made in the drop down list, i want other cells to be accordingly populated with data stored on another worksheet within the workbook.
The source of the drop down list is material and i need other cells to be populated with the adjacent data.
Here is a small list i have at present, which will be much larger when completed.
MATERIAL 20mm 30mm
Absolute Black £62.15£83.30
Absolute Black Premium£71.65£96.10
African Red £58.20£78.00
So if the selection in the drop down list is African Red then it should accordingly populate other cells with the values £58.20 and £78.00. Please help as i have tried many sources elsewhere but without any luck and this would be very benficial.

I need to lookup data based on a cells content. The answer has to output to a table as a sequential list. I have attached a sample workbook (there will be 100+ sheets in the final version!). The Register sheet lists competencies against page# and title. For each Evidence Sheet I need to populate the Competency grid (C4:D10) in a sequential manner i.e. no blank lines, and the Title (B13) based on the Page # (D2). I have looked at a great number of postings, but cannot see a solution that fits.

I'm trying to write a formula which will return postcodes from a list of descriptions which aren't consistent in their layout.
For example, I need this to happen
UB3 3NQ - APR13
SW3 5RQ - APR13
Jul 12 - apr13 accrual - ME9 4FW
Mar 12 - apr13 accural - SO14 7P2
Returned to another column as,
UB3 3NQ
SW3 5RQ
ME9 4FW
SO14 7P2
The issue I'm having is that the postcodes aren't in the same place in order to use LEFT, RIGHT or MID functions, and they aren't always proceeded or followed by dashes or spaces in the same way.
I need the returned postcodes to come back in a uniform way so that any duplicates are grouped by the relevant pivot table.

I was wondering if there might be a better way to write this macro. What it does is clears unique items from a Range( leaves duplicates ) I've looked all over the net I can find all kinds of function and subs to remove duplicates but haven't been able to find anything that just removes single entries. I"ll bet there's a more elegant way to write this maybe using a Collection or a Dictionary.
Sub Dummy()
Dim MP1_Rnge As Range
Set MP1_Rnge = Range("A1:A100")
For Each Cell In MP1_Rnge
If Not IsEmpty(Cell) Then
If Cell.Row = 1 Then..........

I'm trying to write an Excel program to calculate golf handicaps. In column A, I have 20 unique dates. In column B, I have corresponding 20 scores. In column C, I'm trying to create a corresponding notational mark, "*", indicating the 10 lowest scores that are also the oldest. However, I'm running into problems as I may have duplicate scores with different dates, i.e. 3/22/06 will have a score of 85 and will be the 10th lowest score, but 4/1/06 also has a score of 85.

I am hoping this can be done with formulae. Starting at C7 and continuing down the C column there is a list of names which could potentially run from C7 to C5000. This list of names will contain duplicates. For each name there is a corresponding 'reason' in the F column which will contain the word 'Truancy' or 'Late'.
I need a formula that can count the number of UNIQUE names in the C column which correspond to the word 'Truancy' or 'Late' in the E column.
An example,
[Name].....................[Reason]
C7 ...........................E7
John Potts.................Truancy 2
Matt Jones................Truancy 10
John Potts.................Truancy 4
Matt Jones ...............Late AM
Pete Burns................Late PM
Pete Burns ...............Late Both
Steve Lopez..............Truancy 6
Count of unique names with the word Truancy in the corresponding E column = 3 [John Potts has 2 instances of the word truancy in column E but this is only counted once]
Count of unique name with the Word Late in the corresponding E column = 2 [Pete Burns has 2 instances of the word late in the E column but this is only counted once].
I have also included a sample workbook.
