Macro Delete Duplicate Data
Oct 27, 2008
I have an Excel Workbook with a Paid sheet and an Outstanding sheet both sheets have a File Number column.
I would like to create a macro that looks through the Outstanding sheet and if the File Number from the Outstanding sheet is also in the Paid sheet can the entire row be deleted from the Outstanding sheet.

I am looking for some VBA code that will look through a column and delete all but the last duplicate value. The rows are not to be deleted. The duplicate also may not be consecutive (i.e they may appear in rows 2, 3 and 72 - the one in 72 would need keeping).
I did find the following macro which seemed to do the job until I realised it wasn't working if the values weren't consecutive.
Code:
Sub Dupe_Killer_Keep_Last()
Dim lrow As Long
Application.Calculation = xlCalculateManual
[Code]....

I use the following macro to delete the columns with duplicate dates in it. It works ok but when a date is duplicate more than once say 4 time it only delete 2 of the 4. I want it to delete all duplicates (entire column) and only leaf the last one to the right.
Sub DeleteExtraDates()
Dim c
For Each c In Selection
If c = c. Offset(0, 1) Then
c.EntireColumn.Delete
End If
Next c
End Sub

I'm a first timer here an I'm hving a problem with data. I have 3 sheets in a workbook, I want to transfer all the data to one sheet. I have 3 columns labelled Number, Name, & Sales, on each sheet some of the numbers and names are the same and I want to be able to match them up and put the sales from each sheet into a new column, so the final sheet will have 5 columns in total, if the numbers and names don"t match I just want to add those to the bottom of the matched ones.

See attached doc "Find and Delete.xlsx". Inside, the value in F12 is a very important cell. Using the text value from F12, I first want to use visual basic code to find the range in column B because it will vary. This means the 'text words' column might have 50 words or it might have 2000. I have racked my brain trying to find a universal way to find a variable range.
Then I would like to search for the exact text value within this range in column
B. For example, in F12 is the text word 'windows xp registry cleaner' and you can see that this value is in B9. There will only be one exact match in column B.
I then would like the vb script to delete and remove this found value, then move left one space in column A to also delete the ID number associated with the text word. Then shift both rows up to fill the empty gap. I have tried numerous different codes but to be honest, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I've tinkered with find and replace, vlookup, match, find, search, and many more.

I have a VBA Macro that loops through about 100,000 rows in an Excel file and removes rows that have a duplicate cell value. The macro takes about an hour and a half to run. Are there any ways to make the Macro run faster? Any ways in general to make VBA macros run faster?

I have a new project that needs macro code. Your help is very much appreciated. We have a spreadsheet with duplicate accounts meaning two or three rows with the same account but different information. We want to use only one row for one account and move the new data from the same account to one row only to the right and delete the duplicates. Can someone please help me with this?I read so many post and I tried some of them but it only delete the duplicate row and not copying the new data from that row to one row only. Also, the other code I tried was retaining only the current or old data. Actually, to elaborate more, I want to get the new data in each cell of the same account in multiple row and move it in one row to the right only and delete the duplicate in that same account.

I found a lot of information on this but not what I need. I have 8 columns A - H. Column D has some duplicate numbers. I would like to find the duplicate numbers in column D (they are all one right after the other) and delete the entire row leaving only the first. I do not need to sum or anything, just delete the row with a duplicate number. If there are 2 or 3, I just end up with one.

Here is a sample Excel sheet I have: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...dnD01VPV8RzOAw
I have over 1,200 rows with duplicate data(sometims 3-4 times) that is filled in some columns and empty in others.
I would like to consolidate the data and then delete the duplicates without loosing any data.
Is there a way to do this? I have Office 2007. I can't just use the Duplicate finder cause that just deletes everything right away.

compare and find exact matches b/w the data in columns J and K in the attached csv file. I would simply like all rows with exact matches to be hidden. I can simply change any code to reflect something like
Selection.EntireRow.delete
later if necessary.

macro that takes the number data and if it is the same number as in the previous row(s) just delete the extra number(s). It also needs to put in a factor in the next column of how many times the number was the same. For example:
Number Factor
5.67 1
5.70 1
5.77 1
5.77 1
5.77 1
5.77 1
Would become
Number Factor
5.67 1
5.70 1
5.77 4
I tried to make this question as clear as possible.

Is there a macro to delete an entire row if a duplicate entry appears only in a certain column.
1. Look for the column header with the name "File Number"
2. Anytime the same number under the "File Number" column appears more than once in that column, keep the row that contains first occurrence of that number buy delete the entire row anytime that number is repeated in another row in that same column.
This is regardless of what is contained in the other columns. For example..let's say these cells contained this data...
B1 - UTE00225
B2 - UTE00546
B3 - UTE65513
B4 - UTE00225
B5 - UTE00225
In this case, I would want to keep rows 1, 2, and 3. But, I would want to delete rows 4 & 5 because the number "UTE00225" has already appeared first in B1. I'm using Excel 2003.

I've got this macro which works well, but I have to edit it to change the column I want to check for dupes. I don't mind doing that, but now I have to share the macro with someone who is not comfortable changing the references in the code every time they run it.
As it is it checks column G:G (7) for dupes and deletes the row. Good.
I'd like for it to do the same thing, but for whatever column the active cell is in.
I can use this:
Col = ActiveCell.Column
in place of the "7" in the With Range part
but I don't know how to replace the "G1:G".
Sub DeleteDuplicatesColumnG()
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = False
.EnableEvents = False

I have a spreadsheet that has thousands of rows of data with maybe 6 columns.
I would like to remove the duplicate rows but the problem I am facing is that I would like to use column A as the criteria.
There are some duplicates in column A but the issue is that the data in column B, C, D, etc may not be the same for each duplicate.
Easier to see in this image:
http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/6364/datajv6.jpg
So A1 is the same as A6
A1 has data in B1 and C1, no data in D1
A6 has data in B1, C1 and D1
I need to delete either row A1 or row A6, it is irrelevant which row it is but one of them has to go.

I need to concatenate and de-dupe. I want to find dupes, concatenate a column, and the delete the duplicate columns--all while maintaining data from other populated columns.
Here is the some example data:
#| Type | Name
1 | A | Bob
1 | B | Bob
1 | C | Bob
2 | B | Sally
2 | E | Sally
3 | A | Bill
3 | C | Bill
4 | E | Nancy
The result should look like:
# | Type | Name
1 | A, B, C | Bob
2 | B, E | Sally
3 | A, C | Bill
4 | E | Nancy
I am using Excel 2003.

I feel as though I have spent enough time searching the previous posts to ask this question.
I have a 4 column sheet, column B has many cells with identical data. I want to delete all the rows that that have duplicate data in column B.
COLUMN A= Car Makers
COLUMN B= Models of cars
COLUMN C= color
COLUMN D= owner
I want to end up with rows that each contain unique info in COLUMN B.

Public Sub FindDuplicates()
For RwCnt = 1 To (Worksheets(1).Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row)
SrchValue = Worksheets(1).Cells(RwCnt, 1).Value
If Len(Trim(SrchValue)) > 0 Then
With Worksheets(1).Range("a1:a" & Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row)

I am trying to create a summary sheet that updates when input data is added.
I'm still learning many parts of excel and I'm unsure why the SUMIF function on occasion leaves duplicate data in.
I can live with the fact that I will need to correct the input data and am willing to just paste in corrected data when it has been validated via the data validation tab.
Once this has been done, all I am seeking is for a subsequent process to start which updates a summary sheet with the sums correctly adding via the sumif function.
I have left some instructions on the actual spreadsheet to clarify my intended results.

I am looking for a macro to highlight duplicate data in Col A.
I have googled etc, and found quite a few, but some were slowish, some didn't work, some did.
The best I have found so far is this 1. I believe this was posted by Richard Schollar
Sub ColorDupes()
Dim v As Variant, r As Range, i As Long, j As Long
Set r = Selection
v = r.Value
For i = 1 To UBound(v, 1)
For j = 1 To UBound(v, 2)
If Not IsEmpty(v(i, j)) Then
If Application.WorksheetFunction.CountIf(r, v(i, j)) > 1 Then r(i, j).Interior.ColorIndex = 3
End If
Next j
Next i
End Sub
This seems to run fine and be quite quick providing I highlight the column first.
What I'm looking for is a pop up window to also show me some data relating to the duplicates. I usually work with large lists and would like the macro to say how many duplicates it found from how many rows of data.
It is a very handy macro, and is very short on the coding side I notice compared to all the others I found (Which is Good?), I'm no coder

Worksheet excel with multiple lines and colums. I need a macro to automatically insert a new Line where the cursor is located, and duplicate data from previous cells: let say cursor is located L10, macro will insert L11, and duplicate L10 -C1 data to L11 -C1. I have a macro that does this function, but the Line insertion is always at the same line.May be the macro should "read" first the cursor position, Lx and then move down +1 line prior to duplicate the data.

I have a spreadsheet that uses a Form for Data entry. Each record has ID, Name, State, and about 20 more columns of information for each ID.
The data entry is working well.
What I need now is to add a check for a UNIQUE ID. If they are adding a new record I need my form to return a message if the ID they use is already in the database. So if they enter XXXXX and that is in the file already - they should get a message that XXXXX is already in the database and to please enter a new ID.
And once they fix XXXXX to XXXXY then the record is added.
I should add that the ID is stored in column A.
