Macro To Pull Same Cell Range Cell From Many Closed Books

I have many workbooks which all have a summary sheet called summary, and which are all kept in the same folder (although this folder name/filepath may change from year to year).

I want to be able to set up the column headings and then copy the same set of summary information from each book so that it can then be used for analysis. The cells to be copies derive their value from formulae, it is the value that needs to be copied.

I attach a workbook with the format needed and the source cells. The source sheet will be password protected.

I know this is a question that has been raised before and I have searched the forum but not come across a question that is close enough to work from - my VB skills are appalling.

it is possible to get a range value from a worksheet without having to open the workbook. I have being trying for a long time to try and work out some code to do the good but have failed miserably. Please find below my latest attempt

Not sure but I think that Workbook("wb1.xls").Worksheet("Sheet1").Range("A2") only works if the worksheet is open.

I want to pull data from closed workbook based on cell values of open workbook of column B and the source file name is on cell J1. Actually I save monthly files and opening balnce of current month should take vakues from previous month file.

Suppose current month is May 2008. Then Column Column D for May month shold take value from column G of April 2008. For simplicity the previous month’s name and thus source file name will be placed on cell J1.

The code should loop from column B of source file and current May 2008 file and should pull values for only those items which are in the current file in the Column B. Thus those products which are deleted or newly added item in the current item should not copied. Though for new item no name will be thre in the source file but for deleted items the item might be there in the source file but the code should ignore those value.

Pull In Range From Closed File

I'm trying to find a way to import data from an external excel file that the end-user will ultimately end up choosing using the application. getopenfilename dialogue. I'm able to sucessfully open the file, but what I'm really trying to do is import data from one specific column within the file, preferably without the source spreadsheet popping up.

So, is this possible to do with VBA? Also, will I run into any issues if I try to import from an Excel 2.1 file to an Excel 2003 file using VBA? Finally, I need to be able to import one file, and then be able to add to that an import from another file. I'm thinking that this could be accomplished using a variant variable, but is there already a function within Excel so that I won't have to create my own add-to function.

Pull Data Out Of A Closed File Based On A Date Range

I am trying to make Excel pull data out of a closed file based on a date range. The closed file is a log where people input data and enter the day they are doing it. I need to pull this data in my file and make it print into my worksheets so I can pass a report on to others with only the data they request from the log.

The range would be for 7 days and would have to be able to choose a few columns off this report.

VBA Macro To Pull Data From 3 Closed Workbooks And Filter

What I want to do is pull data from columns A,B,C,D in 3 other closed workbooks (export.csv, export1.csv, & export2.csv) to my main workbook (Thunder.xlsm)and append that data in columns A-D on my main workbook. In addition I created a list of 10 names (but need to expand or delete from this list as personnel change) in Column O that I would like to filter the data in A-D. The names in the list must find the data I want to keep in column D, the rest I want to delete (not the entire row, just A-D for that particular row that does not match the criteria in column O, and shift those cells up).

I've attached a sample spreadsheet that will clarify what I am asking. I'm preferably asking for 2 macro's, one for the pull of data, and the other for the filtering.

I want to open an excel file whose name is a value in a spreadsheet, and then pull a value from the spreadsheet I queried into my existing workbook. Here is the syntax i have so far:

to note: I'm calling the workbook in which the macro is located testproject.xls, and I'm using [integer].xls as my list of files that the macro will query. Ultimately, this code will go in a loop.

I am in need of a way to pull keywords listed in B2:B10 from text in A2:A10 and then those pulled keywords combined in cell C11.See attached document. So I have colors for keywords in column B and some random text in the column A including the keywords in parenthesis. Is there a way for a formula to find all keywords in A2:A10 and then list them in cell C11 with commas in between.So the result would be one cell C11 showing BLUE,GREEN,BLACK,ORANGE, etc.I have been trying to mess around with index and match and while I could get one to pull up I don't know how to combine it.

I have a folder that contains hundreds of excel workbooks. Each workbook has 20 or more sheets. All workbooks have the same look and design. All workbooks have macros that they use to function and the macro I want cannot interfere with their macros.

What I want to do is copy certain cell values (some numeric and some text) from several sheets from these workbooks and paste them into another workbook (a master workbook) that is essentially collecting these values into a table without having to open all these workbooks. For example, let’s say all of the workbooks are named with a numeric value starting with “one.xls” and that the sheets in these workbooks are named “a”, “b”, and so on. So, in the master workbook in cell “B2”, I want the name of the first workbook searched (“one.xls”); then in cell “C2”, I want the value from cell “J45” on sheet “b” of “one.xls”; in cell “D2”, the value from cell “B32” on sheet “b” of “one.xls”; in cell “E2”, the value from cell “K13” on sheet “e” of “one.xls”; in cell “F2”, the value from cell “R43” on sheet “k” of “one.xls”. The in cell “B3” of the master workbook, I want the same information as before except from “two.xls” instead of “one.xls”, and so on down to “three hundred.xls”.

How do I update changes to a linked workbook without having to open it? Let's say that I have two workbooks, "workbook1" and "workbook2". I want to copy data entered from workbook1 to workbook2 without opening workbook2. I know that I can just open workbook2 so that the formula will work but if I do that I'll end up opening up to 3 workbooks, which doesn't really give you much security.

Formula- To Pull Cell Values Similar To A SUMIF Function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range))

I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

I have a column with unique identifiers (numeric) that are included in another column. I need to find this number in the column and pull the data from that column into a new one. For example:

Is included in this string: 10.1.8........28530_201_10-....

I need the content from the string pulled into a new column. It seems there would be a LOOKUP that would work, but I'm not able to figure it out.

I have a sheet where i have many differently named areas (like state1_1 and state1_2) When I doubleclick on a cell then a macro should run with following criteria: 1) Macro will run if the doubleclicked cell is part of any range in the list. Here I mean that names of ranges which belong to that list start with word state (like state1_1 and state1_2). No other ranges should not be in that list. If the cell is not in the range that is part of the list, then nothing should happen.

I have workbook template that I use to generate reports from a list of depts. This list is contained in a drop down cell that is a named range in a different worksheet. My current process is as follows:

-Select Dept Name from the list
-Click a command button which is assigned to code that calculates and saves to a file
-Repeat for next report until all reports are generated

I would like to automate this process by producing all reports with a single command with the following functionality:

-The Dept Name needs to be populated in the specified cell containing the current drop down because it drive various vlookups and other formulas
-If possible, I would like to retain the drop down functionality as I would like to have the option of running an individual report or running the “batch”.

I have a table of data for items, and in one column I have links that go to webpages for those items. I need to pull the value from a particular cell and input that within a text link in another cell. For example:

A1 has the value "K111"

in D1 I need to have a link such as "<a href="http://link/K111>Click Me></a>"

You'll notice it's link with the K111 value input in it. I need to replace the K111 code that will put the value there. I know how to do this normally but not when it falls within other text. Is this possible?

Open A Closed Worksheet W/ Cell Reference

I am trying to open a stored file on a network drive (with the file location stored in cell E4). When I try to run the macro, I get an error message on Line 3. (Sheets(E4.Value).Activate)

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this, or have a better method to open the closed files?

I've read that it's possible to reference information from a closed sheet, but I don't think that I'm experienced enough in VBA to take on that effort yet.

Change Cell To CLOSED When Date Entered

I need a script that changes a cell to say closed (uses a drop box) when a date is entered into the date column. I have attached a workbook with the basic options, obviously there will be a lot more columns and information in the original workbook and I will adding the code to at least 2 worksheets.

However to give a basic understanding if I have a drop box in column A with the options Active, Inactive and Closed. When I enter a date in Column B (headed Closed Date) I want Column A to change the option to Closed automatically.

I've recently discovered the usefulness of VB in excel and have managed to write some basic macros that enhance many of my workbooks. BUT, I've bumped into a problem I can't seem to solve. Please help!

I'm looking to import the values in a large range of cells ( 5 x 5000) in a closed workbook into a range that i specify in an open one, where both workbooks are housed in the same directory. I also want to include logic that allows me to move the 2 files to different directories (the names will never change, only the paths) and have the code still work--I believe i'd use relative path references?

Add COUNTIF To Cell & Reference Closed Workbook

i'm trying to do a COUNTIF from an open workbook. The range I want for it is in another workbook, which I do not want to have open every time I run the macro.

This is my current

editthe range is just so I can see if it's giving the right values, the range won't be like that once I get it working. I'll probably be using logic statements to place them in the appropriate cells. The * is just me taking out the directory names, its on the desktop)

It can copy cell values from another unopened workbook, but when I try to put in COUNTIF it doesn't want to compile/run the script.

That's basically the question. Here's some background and my aim:

I'm scanning row I:I for certain keywords which I then count up and put into corresponding columns of a chart.

1st - Need a macro to change a range of cells colours based on a single cell having a value greater than 0.001. ie. cells A1 - G1 need to change to grey based on cell F1 having a value greater than 0.001 entered in it?

2nd - Also a macro for deleting the text contents of cell C1 based on cell F1 having a value greater than 0.001. Therefor if cell F1 has a number greater than 0.001 it changes the colour of celss A1 - G1 and also deletes the text in cell C1?

Extract Single One Cell Value From Multiple Closed Workbooks

I have a little over 100 workbooks which I will receive back from customers and in column A of another workbook I have the names of those workbooks.

Not all workbooks will come in at the same time, but I would like, as we receive the workbooks, retrieve the value from cell H19 from the available workbooks according to the name in column A and place the value in column B.

I've looked into Indirect, but with this function the workbooks have to be open. If one of the workbooks has not been received, I would like for the macro to skip this file name. All files are .xlsm.

The file will be in the same folder as all the individual workbooks.
