Macro To Replace Formula Reference
Jun 26, 2007I have created a workbook that generates new worksheets with unique identifiers as tab names. I.e. On a "Create New Sheet" worksheet, input three pieces of data, click "Create New Sheet" and this data is applied to a template sheet, macro continues running to copy the template and rename is with a unique SKU.
My problem is as follows: I have yet to figure out how to generate an Index page that is updated as each new sheet is added with the following:
a) Cell containing the SKU and a hyperlink (or some other link) to that particular tab, and
b) Beside this cell, pull the contents of certain cells from that SKU's tab (such as description, but also the contents of calculated fields on that SKU's tab like current quantity and current price).
I would like the Index to be live so that if data is changed on the SKU's tab, it flows through to the Index......

Nov 23, 2009Is there a more efficient way that I can swap out an ending fixed reference value in thousands of vlookup formulas across many pages within the same workbook? For example, let's say one of my vlookup formulas is: =vlookup(A2,'Apples!'$A$2:$W$47,7,false)
and I want to change the range to 'Apples!'$A$2:$W$200, across several variations of the same formula, across several pages within the same workbook. Can this be done easily without tackling each sheet separately using copy, paste special, formula?

What i want it to do is find anything that says FWD_EUR and then replace that cell (e.g C2) with CASH_EUR_FWD and after it has done that it replaces the adjacent cell (e.g. D2) with EUR_FWD. I then want this to do the same with FWD_USD to CASH_USD_FWD and adjacent cell to USD_FWD.

Jan 8, 2012How do I change a formula cell reference based on another cell's reference? I'm building a schedule that looks to a task's trigger and adds days based on that relationship. All entries in column "A" will be text and all cells in "B" will be the simple formula "=A2" or "=A3". Due date is calculated by adding the value in "C" to the preceding date in column "D". In the spreadsheet below, the trigger for "Budget set" is "Specs written" with 3 days added to the previous due date.

Feb 15, 2010I have lets say 12 months of data. I have formulas that reference the latest 6 months. When I insert a new column to input a new month, how can I make the formulas include the new months without manually updating them.
EXAMPLE:
12 months of data exist in cells B3:M3 going from B3(oldest) to M3(newest). Formulas reference latest 6 months of data in cells H3:M3. When a new month hits, I insert a column after column M.I would like the formulas to now reference cells I3:N3 which is now the newest 6 months.

Jul 20, 2014I have a workbook with 1000+ worksheets, all of which have 3-letter names. On a master sheet, I would like to make a query of how many non-empty cells there are on a subsidiary worksheet. This works:

What I'd like to do from time to time is input in column A a varying set of 3-letter worksheet names, say
AAB
ABC
CDE
And have a formula in column B that converts this to
=COUNTA(AAB!A:A)
=COUNTA(ABC!A:A)
=COUNTA(CDE!A:A)
I've learned that simply substituting the cell references A1, A2, A3 for AAB, ABC and CDE doesn't work. What do I need to do to achieve this?

Apr 25, 2014Let's say I've ended up with the number 8 in Cell D4 for example. Is there a formula that can return the letter "G" (The 8th Column) so I can use it in future cell references ? If so, let's say we store that in Cell B5. How do I now refer to a cell in a chosen Row of that same Column by reference to Cell B5 ? For example if I want to refer to Cell G33 can you refer to this Cell in some form like Cell(Contents of Cell B5;33) ??? Don't want to use R1C1 type references if possible.

Feb 5, 2009This problem has come up fairly frequently lately, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or if this is by design...but in Excel 2003 I can't seem to do a "Find and Replace" based on the value of a cell. I can do a find, based on cell value, but the moment I change to the replace tab, the "values" and "comments" are missing from the "look in" dropdown.
I've only noticed this when I'm trying to replace on a filtered list, so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue.
Perhaps an alternative way of arriving at the same goal. Basically I have a worksheet with a number of filtered columns. They are filtered just right, using custom filtering, and so I do not want to undo the filters. In some columns I have formulas that are returning #VALUE! errors. I'd like to replace all of these cells with NA.

Each row has a URL of a blog post, and I want to extract the date from it (which is present in each URL) while getting rid of the rest of the URL. I was able to get rid of everything up to the year (which comes first), but then the URL continues, for example, 2013/05/16/the-rest-of-the-url/ and I would like to just have 2013/05/16 remain.
I am trying to use find and replace with the find box reading 2013/??/??/*/ and replacing it with 2013/??/?? which effectively erases everything else in the url, but leaves ?? instead of the numbers. Is there any way to have it so that it keeps whatever was in the original box?

Apr 28, 2014I am working with a spreadsheet that has our user data; User(First) Name, User(Last) name, Computer Name, MAC address, Phone Number, Seating Position and Network Port Number.
I have let this get horribly out of sync, moved computers around, and moved them while the MAC address column was hidden, As a result, I have a bunch of users listed as being at the wrong computer. I have a second spreadsheet I generated that gives me the logged in user for about 2/3 of my computers, with the computer name(Just 2 columns, 'A' and 'B'. I would like to have Excel match the computer name and then overwrite the user name. For example, if the first computer in my correct user list is DELL-99945ty2, and the user name is "Jimbo Jones", I would like it to search the first Excel doc(The one with all of the user data), and replace the user name with "Jimbo Jones". Is this simple and straightforward?
In my main spreadsheet, the user name is in column B and the computer name is in column G, So I want to use the values from Column B in my second document to find its match in Column G of the first spreadsheet, and then replace the data in Column B with Column A in the first spreadsheet.

As I add in a new column to the right of C (call it C2), I need D (which has shifted over one) to sum A,B, and C.
I also need E (which has also shifted over one) to sum A,B,C, and C2.
Essentially I need a function in a cell that will be able to reference two cells to the left even as more cells are added.

I need to show the data as indicated in the file, headed required format required.

What I need to do is to compare data in Column C (sheet 1) to Column A (sheet 2).
If it matches, then Cell value in A will change to be the same value as B.
For example, range C1 of sheet 1 matches that of Range A2 in Sheet 2, then range A1 of Sheet 1 becomes the value of B1.
How can I use VBA to achieve this? Do note the data in Sheet 1 and sheet 2 changes all the time. It can be more or less.

If Then Else Find And Replace Value In Another Cell
Aug 8, 2013I have a file that I import into excel and append to the end of the last free position, However my totals are slightly out when compared to the main system.
I have found the reason why, they randomly slips in a Credit or credits.
So I have the scenario column P has a txt field and the majority of the time it has SI (Invoice) however when they issue a credit the txt becomes SC.
The annoying bit is that Column L has a value but it is not a negative number i.e. 75 where it should be -75
I can do an iF then and find the SC or SC's and I can place some text in Column L but I would like to be able to take the value in L and make it a negative number.
