Another button will be there which will be assigned macro & when clicked will ask for a password to be known by only some administratives say departmental heads only and they can modify the data.Users after clicking the “Check” button, cannot modify the data.
I am creating a spreadsheet for work - I have a column that is all the formulas projected sales minus actual sales.
I need to lock this column so that no one BUT MYSELF can change the codes. In other words "idiot proof" the worksheet. there are only 18 sections that I want anyone else to be able to type in.
is there a way to do this without adding users? half the ppl have personal emails and half have company emails.
I want to restrict user from entering alphabets like I,O,Q and S in a cell. Can we do this using data validation or any formula because I don't wan't to use drop-down list or refer to values in other cells either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Excel 2010, and I need to restrict the value the user can enter into a cell (E9).
In cell E3 is the screen width (pixels). eg 6024
In cell E5 is the preferred width of a window. eg 450
The user, in cell E9, enters an x coordinate for which they prefer the top left corner of the window whose width is specified in E5.
If the value that the user enters in E9, added to the width entered in E5, exceeds the value of E3, (if E9+E5 > E3) then the value should be disregarded (window will be off right of screen) and the user re-enter.
I'm not familiar with the use of data validation, so I'm uncertain as to how to use it in this circumstance.
I have a very simple inventory spreadsheet that I used to keep track of certain products. The issue is that I often have to insert new columns and when I do, the formulas get convoluted. Is there a trick to making them follow the structure of the formula before?
My formula is =SUM(GT4:GU4) and appears in the Running Total column. When I insert two columns - a white column where an order will be inserted, as well as a running total column. When I perform the insert, the formula for the inserted columns, as well as the set of columns immediately to the right require corrections:
Inserted columns: =SUM(GT4:GW4) [Should be GV4:GW4]
Columns to the right: =SUM(GV4:GY4) [Should be GX4:GY4]
I know how to manipulate the formulas correctly, I would like to keep a clean file for my predecessor.
I'm looking to use a user form to insert a picture into excel.
The picture area would be 2" x 2", but a user would able to enter a smaller picture.
I'm wondering if this is even possible and how the heck you'd code something like this... my vba skills are still in the elementary stage.
I'm trying to use data validation to restrict the user to only selecting values in a list which I create. Right now, the list is a named range. I'd like to get rid of the range and just use a named list. I create a name using the following as my list.
Insert > Name > Create
Name: Fruit
Refers to:
banana,apple,orange
When I try to use the name Fruit in my data validation, I get the message "The List Source must be a delimited list, or a reference to single row or column." I thought my name "fruit" was a delimited list.
I am trying to create a formula that references information on two different sheets, but i want it to show me the values that are newly created when a new row is inserted. The two current sheets are Master and Data.
I have a formula on Master that reads ='Data'!$K$3 to reference the value on Sheet data in cell K3. When a new row is inserted showing me the current readings, I want the Master sheet to show me the NEW value in cell K3 on the data sheet. The problem is, the insert of a row moves the formula on the Master sheet to now be ='Data'!$K$4. How can i STOP the insertion of a row from changing the formula so i continue to see the value i need?
I have a function Sum('1st Qtr:4th Qty'!AW1) in row 1 and dragged down 129 rows so the last reads Sum('1st Qtr:4th Qty'!AW129). If I insert a row the cell reference does not increment automatically below the insert location. How do I get it to do so. The insertion occurs when I run a macro.
View 3 Replies View Relatedis it possible to allow a user to insert an image into a comment box through a user form. For example-
User enters Part # into form - then in a separate form field - uploads an image from his/her hard drive. On submit the part number is populated into A1(or wherever) and comment box is also generated for A1 which contains said image.
Is there a general way to disable a user from changing row size or adding new rows.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to write VBA code that will prevent a user from changing a cell's contents, depending on the cell's font color?
More specifically, I have a column of text in range B15:B64. Some of the cells will have a black font, others will be blue. Is it possible to lock the black font cells only, leaving the blue cells unlocked for users to change?
I have a Workbook that has 2 worksheets, one called CALL QUERY and one called CALL LOG. On the CALL QUERY sheet, cell D9 is a user inputted cell with the cell validation set to list. The user uses the dripdown list to pick an office identifier (3-Letter Code).
On the CALL LOG sheet, I have info about individual calls. Column E has the 3-letter office identifier for each call.
I am trying to find a way to automatically auto filter the list on the CALL LOG sheet with the user input in cell D9 on the CALL QUERY sheet.
I was given the following (N2 is a cell on the CALL LOG sheet that equals the user inputted cell D9 on the CALL QUERY sheet)
so I know how to change the color of a command button(right click, properties), but is there a way to change the color to a specific red green blue range? lets say 102 28 02 for example

The last 3 used rows on the sheet contain signatures etc so it should not number the bottom 3 rows.
pretty sure its fairly simple code but i dont have anything similar from previous files that i can re-use to do this :p
just needs a simple
count how many rows are blank from A9 downwards (to say A200)
for num=1 to count do
Cell range(A(9+num) = num
end
i just dont know the code well enough to write it and make it work :p
I have a workbook with 2 worksheets. 1 Worksheet contains a data table and another table contains a form
Worksheet 1 (Data)
[A] [B] [C]
1) [Material #] [Batch #] [Destruct Form #]
2) 10 100A 1A
3) 10 101A
4) 20 200A
5) 30 300A 2A
6) 30 301A
Worksheet 2 (Form)
[A] [B]
1) [Destruct Form #] [3A]
2)
3) [Material #] [Batch #]
4) [10] [101A]
5) [20] [200A]
I am looking to create a macro which, when executed, will:
1) search sheet 1 column B for any instances where a "batch #" from sheet 2 column B appears
2) add in the corresponding "Destruct Form #" from Sheet 2 Cell B1 into sheet 1 column b
Therefore after the Macro is run, sheet 1 will look like this:
Worksheet 1 (Data)
[A] [B] [C]
1) [Material #] [Batch #] [Destruct Form #]
2) 10 100A 1A
3) 10 101A 3A
4) 20 200A 3A
5) 30 300A 2A
6) 30 301A
This may sound trivial, but how do you insert a column to the right of the current selection?
If I do Selection.EntireColumn.Insert that inserts a column to the left. Anyone know how to do this?
I have a long list of inventory parts and there can be additions or deletions at any time. Currently the inventory is determined using formulas from other worksheets and this uses formulas.
